I played Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and as someone who’s beaten Dark Souls and Elden Ring, this game feels like an entry-level Soulslike. The Sekiro-inspired combat, with parry and dodge mechanics, is familiar but less punishing. Meditation points are like Dark Souls’ bonfires; enemies respawn, you lose XP on death, but recovering it is simpler. The story, set in the Star Wars universe, is linear but enjoyable. However, it lacks the deep build variety and brutal difficulty of Dark Souls or Elden Ring; you only get a lightsaber and a limited skill tree. The Metroidvania-style maps, with exploration and backtracking, are well done, but don’t expect open-world freedom. Boss fights are solid, some are challenging, but they lack the epic vibe of Souls games. If you’re a Star Wars fan and want a lighter Soulslike, it’s pretty fun.

This game took me completely by surprise, but I should have known better given it's Respawn. For some reason this game's story completely captivated me. Maybe because it's the first star wars related thing I've consumed in a long time, but exploring this world and the different planets, along with the thrilling lightsaber combat and exploration and force powers, it was so thrilling and gripping. Cal Kestis is an awesome protagonist that I could surprisingly relate to, and all of the cast were good in their own ways. The highlight had to be when
You step into the Smuggler's arena and THE FUCKING HU STARTS PLAYING
and from that moment I was super hooked. The message of becoming one with the Force and understanding your duty and place in this dark galaxy was just excellent. I also hate to make this comparison, especially since the director was the lead on God of War 3, but the exploration and metroidvania pacing felt very similar to Dark souls (one area is very much imitating Blighttown). This game managed to become from something I loverlooked into what very well might be my favourite star wars game ever, rivalling Forced Unleashed and Battlefront II 2005. Play this excellent game and experience this story, especially if you can get it cheap

Some of the best Star Wars you can get and a fantastic game. It's a nice mix of Metroidvania, parry-based combat and a light touch of Soulslike. Sadly some parts of the game seem to be poorly optimized which leads to stutters and there is no fast travel system which makes revisiting areas annoying if you aim for completion.

Honestly, I'm not even a reviewer but this game pissed me off so bad I feel like I should write a review. Good things about the game? I guess for a low-spec PC like mine to run it at 60fps on epic settings means the game is pretty well optimized, also, the game looks very good. I guess the combat is okay? Feels fun at the start of the game. The intro is the best thing about the game but it falls off HARD. BD-1 is cute. Bad things: I have 8 hours recorded and 7 hours of them I've spent running through Crash Bandicoot ass puzzles and environmental hazards, only to fight 2 stormtroopers that dies in 2 hits. Hey, I've played Death Stranding and even walking and doing nothing on that game felt more rewarding than playing this game as intended. Why make the map so big with these "little secrets" and alternate passageways if 90% of the time, i'm not gonna be able to progress them? I always need a skill that I won't even unlock until I'm on another planet, hours later, thinking about other things, progressing the "main" objective. Which is funny to call it the "main" objective, cause there isn't a secondary one, unless you count opening random boxes and a secondary quest. Okay, so let's say I did unlock a skill needed to go through this alternative way, 5 hours later than when it was discovered: I waste 15 minutes if not more just to get to the location, to go through and open up a box, and be rewarded with like, a paint job for the ship and if I'm lucky, a dumb-ass dialogue that Cal will say after touching the air over some broken vase. Like what? The reward was so ass compared to the amount of effort to get it, and then, if theres not a shortcut for me to unlock, I will have to walk back that 15 minute path AGAIN. The level design is so mediocre (to not say bad) that it feels like a lego game design but way worse, it just keeps breaking the immersion on how "videogamey" it feels. Honestly, the worst part about the game for me, It's a 3D Metroidvania that feels punishing instead of rewarding to go back. I will pray for all the completionists that will play this game. Movement is clunky, too much climbing, enemies are braindead if not played at the highest difficulty. The map menu is trash. About the story: boring and forgettable, don't care about any of the characters, corny as hell (can't expect much from star wars but cmon), hell, even Saw Gerrera feels completely different from the Saw in other medias, so why even put him in here? Maybe they explain it later but the story didn't make it interesting enough. Also, going back to the actual gameplay part that relates to the story, why put so many of these "echoes" if they add virtually nothing? It pops up as an annoying notification to say that it was added to the database, only for the text to be the same thing Cal said when picked up, just worded differently. I guess the database is not that useless because it shows the enemies weakness and strategy to kill it, but guess what? You only get that AFTER killing them, so you already know the strategy. I guess it's useful if you have short-term memory problems and forgot how to fight that enemy. It baffles me that people will go and say this game is good, I think that if I play KOTOR blindfolded it will be more fun. I feel like as a BIG Star Wars fan, I shouldn't have disliked it this much, but I guess its a perfect representation on what Star Wars is nowadays: generic and feels rushed. This was very cheap for me, I guess its worth it if you get it on sale? I don't know, it cost me as much as McDonald's fries and I would have rather gotten the fries.

Riveting and defining storytelling/cinema, breathtaking locales and suspenseful/tight/edge of your seat combat. Respawn/EA have pulled off a masterful work in the Star Wars universe that easily trumps other Star Wars titles and surpasses many games in the genre. The experience portrays a cohesiveness in game design that is remarkable. Enjoy!

absolute dog shit hit boxes half the bosses just become invulnerable for no reason and you get hit with melee attacks from halfway across the arena. everything is a fucking homing beacon and impossible to dodge. i play games like this and have several hundred hours in dark souls games so its not a matter of skill its absolutely just random unbalanced garbage. I hope whoever designed the the hit boxes for this game dies alone in a fucking ditch in pain.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order offers a strong Star Wars adventure with solid visuals, satisfying combat, and nostalgic world-building. If you're a fan of single-player, story-driven action-adventure, Fallen Order offers a top-tier experience in the Star Wars universe. Combat is thrilling, the world design immersive, and the story engaging. Technical issues like stutters, shader hiccups, and login friction can be smoothed out with tweaks. For fans of single-player, action-adventure games, it’s well worth experiencing—especially if snagged on sale.

I liked the graphics, story driven gameplay and specially hair physics. What I don't like is there's no fast travel, map isn't easy to understand and you have explore same places again and again without hints. Still game has many good things I didn't mention, I highly recommend it to play, you could also try its sequel, it has fixed all the cons I mentioned.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order's visuals are impressive, with smooth performance throughout, even on ultra epic settings. Combat feels satisfying, and gets better as you unlock more skills and abilities. Taking down different types of enemies with new moves adds depth and variety to each fight. The story is decent. It does the job, but it won’t leave a lasting impression, probably. You can also unlock customisations across the map for your lightsaber, outfit, and ship. Personally, I chose to keep the default look. That said, the map design is in utter shambles. It’s one of the most confusing I’ve seen in a game, and that's an understatement. I had to look up guides on YouTube far too many times just to figure out where to go. Navigation becomes more of a chore which kinda discouraged me from exploring since in a lot of areas you can't go back from where you came. If you're not used to Soulslike combat or tough gameplay, this might not be for you (even on the lowest difficulty) There are also spots where you can get semi-softlocked, which forces you to reload from a save/meditation point. The puzzles vary in quality. Some are okay, but others feel like filler and frustrating. Replay value is low, since post-game is mostly backtracking through the same confusing areas while dealing with this braindead “Return to the Mantis” tasks. Overall, the core gameplay is enjoyable. I finished the main story in about 12 hours and didn’t feel the need to explore everything. It’s not a must-play, but it’s a good experience if you’re a fan of difficult action games or Star Wars. Also, BD-1 is a great companion and easily one of the best parts of the game, making the bad puzzle sections much more bearable. Final Score: 7/10 (+1 for BD-1 being cute)

Yes, this is a game from EAs stable, but it is of surprising quality and polish, given their average. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is very similar to Dark Souls (which I never played) in a way that combat can be punishing if you are not prepared for it. Still - learning the basics, when to parry, when to deflect, dodge etc. what Force powers use and when and how… it was all a very fun process! The lightsaber combat is a bit slower and the weapon itself feels heavy, but impactful. Every cut takes a significant chunk of enemy HP, often one-shotting them (save of course, for the bosses) and the ending sequence is just… yeah, it is great! This is a game every Star Wars fan should play and Cal Kestis may as well fit the shoes of Kayle Katarn as a videogame protagonist of the universe!

i really wanna like this game. i really do. but more often than not some massive graphical glitch, unpolished puzzle or platforming or enemy, or especially really bad overall game design crops up that just makes me want to cut off my hands so i can finally stop playing. first and most apparent for (probably) most people: the attacks you can't parry. usually the enemy or their weapon will flash bright red and you'll have a huge window to dodge. awesome! then, for some specific attacks, the flash red happens far too late for any human reaction time. or, if you're really lucky, the enemy has a bright red charge attack that you LITERALLY can't dodge because they'll pull a U turn so sharp you'll get second hand whiplash, and then get sent back to your last meditation spot. it sucks. it especially sucks when a whole boss fight or enemy type is dedicated to this mechanic. it REALLY especially sucks when there's several of both. second, and most apparent for if you have my particular perfectionist/completionist brand of autism, this game fucking HATES you for thinking you can get 100% completion. unless you manage to very deliberately map literally every inch of ground in every area on every planet, you will always have that tiny little 1% unexplored, that you have to scour or ask reddit to help you with, even when you've gotten every chest and every secret (which you had to look up a walkthrough for after spending 30 min backtracking and another 30 min trying to solve a puzzle that doesn't exist because you haven't unlocked the ability the secret needs and so you have to spend 30 MORE minutes going back to your ship to progress the story because GOD FORBID SOMEONE IMPLEMENTS FAST TRAVEL). seriously, i can't stress enough how despite all the worst fights and actual puzzles i've been stumped by, the thing that makes me hate this game the most is how much it tries to prevent you from having any fun approaching any sort of completionist goal. unless you plan on playing to the letter with a walkthrough, i especially do NOT recommend trying to find every force echo and BD scan, because i'm pretty sure several of them are missable or RNG based (in the case of certain unique enemies that can spawn), which has been a very "fun" time for me. in a semi-continuation of the previous gripe, the level design. GOD the level design. you'd think the fancy 3d map would help but no, honestly it feels like they designed the levels to take as much time and energy to traverse as humanly possible and to be as difficult to read on the map as possible. sometimes the map shows a red, yellow, or green marker for a place you can't, haven't, or can explore respectively. sometimes you just have to fucking guess. sometimes it doesn't show you a red marker for a place you can't explore yet, but shows a yellow one when you finally can explore it, which would have saved me a lot of time trying to figure out why i can't access an allegedly accessible area. honestly, i'd like to say the first planet is as bad as it gets. it's not. it's the best it gets. between the MANDATORY backtracking and the insane asylum-tier level design, you are in for a cocktail of pain and agony and confusion trying to navigate anywhere at all tl;dr, playing this game feels like having a very toxic relationship with a 2009 leaked dev build of a fan project with a glitchy, oftentimes ugly graphical overhaul plastered over the top, and I'M the victim. it /can/ be charming, i'm sure (i hope) the sequel is much better, but i just can't really suffer this game without actually literally suffering. unfortunately that isn't enough to stop me from suffering it.

The story in this game is AMAZING, Loved playing through it and all the characters are super memorable. The combat is actually really fun once you get used to it, but at first It was getting on my nerves how difficult some sections were. The platforming is on point and feels natural. Its only hampered by a few rare times when you attempt a jump that seems possible and get cut off by poorly made terrain meshes. Exploration is fun, and will probably keep me playing now that I finished the story. The puzzles where pretty good design wise, not hard enough to make you stop playing, not so easy you feel like you did nothing. HOWEVER. there is a point (no spoilers) in the story, about halfway through. Where the game expects you to solve a puzzle, that is almost impossible if you don't look it up. And given that its the most watched parts of most tutorial videos, It was not just me. Wish it had more guidance at that point. But its only one puzzle, so It's not gonna ruin the game. But I thought it important to mention. The ending was one of my favorite things in a star wars game ever. No spoilers, even though this is an older game, Its best to just play it and reach the end with no knowledge. If you know, you know, It was epic. Love this game and story, will be getting the next game whenever i'm not broke!

It's a cool mix of metroidvania and soulslike in the Star Wars universe. It's not as hard as a soulslike and not as much exploration and backtracking (though there is a fair amount) as a metroidvania though. Most boss fights are cool and the environments are beautiful. Some jumps and one optional boss in particular stands out as poorly designed and there is a fair amount of clipping (lightsabers through cloaks mostly) and at one point where you lose your lightsaber the other end of the dual bladed saber was on through the entire segment. I didn't encounter any game breaking bugs, just minor annoyances.

For a game released in 2019, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order in my opinion is a big net waste of a gamer's time. I've played many RPG games and many souls-like. Games like these usually have a fun combat system, or a compelling story-line to follow. This game has none of those. On top of horrible map design, the game's "Replayability factor" comes from you having to go do the main story mission and then having to revisit places you already went to, to unlock secrets. I've already slugged through the horrible map once, and during that time I had to see locked paths or chests that I was unable to get due to not having a specific upgrade. If the maps were enjoyable and laid out in a way that isn't repeating and in favor of progression, then this mechanic would be fine. However it's not like that at all. You character never gets "Stronger" you always do the same damage to the same enemies you see all the time, you just get different ways to do that damage. In conclusion, this game has zero respect for your time due to POOR COMBAT, POOR MAP DESIGN, AND POOR CORE EXPLORATION MECHANICS. Get it on sale like I did, and maybe then it's worth the 10 dollars you paid for it.

My first Star Wars Game - Surprisingly worth It I’ve never played a Star Wars game before, and honestly, I’ve never been a big fan of the franchise either. But a friend recommended this one when I was looking for a new game to 100%, so I gave it a shot. Surprisingly, the story pulled me in - even as someone not invested in the whole Jedi vs. Sith thing. It was genuinely interesting, just... way too short. Right when I was getting into it, it was already over. That said, the gameplay was great. Lightsaber combat felt super satisfying, and exploring the world was more fun than I expected. I might not be a Star Wars fan now, but I definitely get the appeal. Final thought: You don’t have to be a Jedi fan to enjoy this one - but it might just turn you into one (a little bit, at least). Thank you Bella =)

Soo i just recently finished the game to 100% and I must say that it exceeded my expectations. I was very sceptical of the quality this game has ....ehmm EA .....and yes there are bugs and glitches but nothing is really game-braking. The graphics are nice ...just nice. U might say that some of the scenes are incredible and in spite of this the character models and animations are not the best and def not on par with AAA quality. Nevertheless the story was engaging and the level design got me to complete the whole game so there is that. But i would definitely wait for sale to come around.........PS. almost forgot, if u have Arachnophobia this is NOT the game for u ;)

The controls for this game are so stupid. Got soft-locked on Zeffo second tomb puzzle when you have to force pull a lantern and force push it onto some vines to burn them. I couldn't force push the lantern things onto the correct vines because Cal would just push it in the complete opposite direction, instead targeting some other box from across the room. I tried so many times until I got frustrated and gave up. Why not just add a cursor allowing us to target where we want to force push? Or why not let us lock onto an objective target so that we can actually hit it? Why not make the character actually aim towards the camera? If you already know that the mechanics are janky, then why make it integral to completing an objective and progressing in the game? You need a real Jedi's patience to play this. Also, what's the point of having you spawn at a meditation point every time you launch the game? It makes sense to respawn there if you die, but why make it so that you have to spawn there when you open the game? There were so many times where I made so much progress on a map only to spawn back at the start of the map the next time I play, erasing all my progress. The only purpose that serves is to waste your time. This game only serves to waste your time.

It's not an awful game, but 6 hours in, it's "just okay". Traversal and exploration are fine, and I'm actually impressed with the world-building. There's some pretty cool Star Wars stuff to look at. The writing is good, too. The writing isn't amazing, but the characters mostly make reasonable decisions and say reasonable things. That's good enough for me, in a video game. But the combat is just meh. It's not very engaging. I can't tell when the game wants me to parry and when it wants me to attack. Obviously you parry when the enemy is attacking and you attack when their guard is down. But after you parry an enemy's attack, are they going to swing again or are they going to let you strike? It's hard to tell. And then you have these force powers that obviate most enemies' defenses, I guess you just use those when you're sick of parrying? Or when you get bored waiting for the enemy to attack? Maybe I'm just playing wrong. But as things stand I don't really know how well I'm playing the game. I get through most encounters with minimal damage, but it feels like it takes a while to eliminate even the most basic enemies, and that makes me feel like I could be playing better. But I have no idea really. In any case, I will keep playing for now. But this isn't one of the better games I have played. Not something I would generally recommend. UPDATE: I got stuck on a puzzle and quit. I still don't like the combat, it feels like my job is to memorize timings for enemy attack patterns. I'm sorry but I have better things to do with my life. It makes the game feel way too slow.

If you like your fighting games to follow the "if my character isn't there, i shouldn't get hit" style of games, don't buy this. I recorded my footage, put it into Premiere, and watched frame by frame as I was constantly rubber banded back into enemy attacks. I could be completely above, beside or even behind them, and i'd get pulled back in. Doesn't matter I might suffer through only because I can't return it at this point.

A game created by star wars fans, for star wars fans. As a star wars enjoyer, the planets, characters, dungeons/maps & enemies are all faithful to the star wars universe. On top of that, the music is adjacent to John Williams score for the original movies. Pair that with the cinematic aspects of the game, and it'd fit right in with other star wars movies/shows, especially when
darth vader pulls up to steal the show near the end of the game.
As a soulesborne/sekiro enjoyer, the combat is a bit slow, and the game doesnt give you enough tools to deal with mobbed enemies. bosses are also cheesable with the good ol' force slow + force attack combo, especially when you get more stims + stims restore force gauge buffs. Still, this game is a must for star wars fans, extremely faithful to the rest of the universe.

Quite honestly, this game is not fun. It's incredibly tedious and it feels like it punishes the player more than rewarding them. The combat is clunky, the platforming gets to be annoying very quickly, and the wayfinding is non-existant. I don't feel like a jedi when playing this game, I feel like an a-hole with a lightsaber that I don't know how to use. Some people may dig this game, and I really tried to like it, but I don't find it worthwhile to continue playing.

What started off as an enjoyable Star Wars game with neat set pieces and an intriguing story after Order 66, became monotonous within hours of gameplay/combat. Combat is overall solid but eventually becomes repetitive with it's same "bread and butter" concept. If it's a stormtrooper with a blaster, deflect it. If it's a trooper with a shock rod, either deflect or roll away and strike. It becomes repetitive within the half-way mark with this game as enemy types don't provide much variety. I started off at grand master difficulty, which wasn't very difficult and then changed it to Jedi Knight after I got bored just to speed up the combat. Traversal is almost agonizing. Numerous times will you need to backtrack to the ship or to a spot within a planet by foot, which leads to the same traversal as you got there originally. I generally enjoy backtracking (or Metroidvanias if you want to compare) but I could not keep my interest due to the level design. A huge portion of the traversal is wall running, climbing on vines, or using a rope. Repeatedly performing the traversal becomes repetitive quickly. Force powers does provide more variety to the traversal but it took too long to get force powers like Push and pull in my opinion. Puzzles also become stale as its using most of the same force powers and traversal elements to solve the puzzle. Up until the 9 hour mark where I left off, the story is.... fine? The general pacing feels too slow and by the half-way mark of the game, I fell off with the game's story. Ultimately, I dropped the game by the 9 hour mark and proceeded to just finish the game with watching the cutscenes on YouTube. The game is still good/solid but as someone who's played other Star Wars games (the Jedi Knight games), I find this to be underwhelming. I'd recommend watching some gameplay footage first before purchasing and playing. I would not recommend a blind purchase solely based off it being Star Wars and "Souls-Like" gameplay.

Not my favorite story game. I didn't hate it, but It was pretty annoying how there was no fast travel and i had to keep going back and forth. Also I feel like the story wasn't that great, some characters just pissed me off

Surprisingly shallow gameplay. All fights can easily be done by doing attack-attack-dodge-repeat (AADR). Character upgrades are basically useless and don't affect the gameplay much. New skills felt very unintuitive and I don't have an incentive to use them because AADR is very much sufficient for almost all fights. Based on the hype as a souls-like I somehow expected a more sophisticated gameplay and it kind of let me down. There are about 3 fights in the game that are truly challenging and I ended up turning down the difficulty, because they're not fun. You lose control of your movement to fight animations all the time which makes the fight feel more like a movie scene than a high-precision video game. It just ends up in mindless button smashing. I like the semi-open worlds, but I don't love them. I say semi-open because a lot of the time, you will be running through corridors that are scripted. Backtracking can be a pain. Some overworld enemies just don't serve a purpose other than being annoying. Stormtroopers are one-hit units and they don't do damage but sometimes when you're distracted they hit you with their plastic guns and it's just stupid. I don't understand the Star Wars lore and I'm not a fan of Star Wars in general, but the story enactment, and gameplay feel awfully generic. But there's a good chance I'm just being ignorant. I enjoy playing the game once in a while but my sessions don't really last much more than an hour before I get bored. Finished it after about 20 hours and I'm glad it's over. It's a chore. I like cinematic games and I like challenging games. Fallen Order tries to be both at once and it sucks.
Jedi: Fallen Order – A Great Beginning… Followed by 15 Hours of searching for ponchos.
I really tried to love this game, the whole opening sequence was such an immersive and brilliant way to introduce the whole world our protagonist lives through, it adapts the drama and emotions perfectly. I'll admit, this game has it's moments of memorable moments, such as climbing onto AT-ATs, Rescuing and saving the Wookiees, alongside other cool little moments which really make this game feel alive and bright.
Then it all.. comes crashing down.
Once this game starts it's routine and fully fleshes itself out for you to explore, it becomes a complete mess. The Metroidvania structure, which sounds good on paper and seems enjoyable enough, However it is the primary reason why it becomes very linear and loses all of it's reason to even be fun. Planet's are designed not to encourage discovery, but to send you back through areas you’ve already cleared just to open one extra door. If backtracking was a absolute crime, this game would be serving a life sentence. The exploration is complete utter trash, "Oh wow, a fucking poncho, Oh cool! a skin for BD-1!" Non of these feel rewarding or fun to even look at, it's just a big excuse to justify a AAA price tag. Just stupid cosmetics, meaningless XP boost, and yet barely any fast traveling mechanics available to waste even more time on this shit.
Characters are forgettable and useless.
These guy's are probably just okay at best, in all honesty the protagonist is the only good character through this game, and the rest of the side characters are a bunch of empty mugs who haven't seen the light of day in ages. Yikes.
Final thoughts
A strong first impression that quickly turns into a fucking chore. Worth playing once, preferably on sale. And when you're done dealing with this bullshit, at that point just boot up Dark Forces and Bounty Hunter to relive your stress from playing this complete god awful modern day mess.

id say it takes about 25-30 hours to get everything in the game depending on how quickly you adapt to the game mechanics and stuff. Its very fun I recommend just doing a play through before focusing on getting all the achievements. (A lot of my hours are from just having my computer on the game while I rotted in bed.)

Jedi: Fallen Order is an enjoyable "SoulsLike" game, from one who really enjoyed Dark Souls 3. The game is more forgiving and the depth and variety of bosses and elites is less, however the difficulty and power curve nicely tracks with going from padawan to Jedi-Knight. The plot and characters were engaging and immersive, to the point where I'd say this game is of the most emotionally engaging, if not challenging that I have played. It explores dark themes and evil surprisingly transparently for a major publisher and mainstream game. Finally the story is an excellent addition to Star Wars lore, if you're invested in the setting this game is worth a try, even if its not a game genre you usually prefer, playing it on super easy for the story would be respectable.

This game was really fun. Some cinematic and storytelling choices were absolutely masterful as well. I usually care a lot about graphics, wanting to run everything on higher quality settings, more details etc, so i was expecting to lower my expectations for an "older" game like this one. I didnt need to. This game looked PERFECT as it was (on highest quality).

This is one of the best games I've played this year. I got easily invested into the game thanks to it's story and exploration. Even though I've never even watched one star wars movie, the game doesn't let you feel clueless about why how to world is and why it is.

I really liked how the game is considered a soul game but doesn't have that vibe of horror stuff. it's really fun and story is well made and well optimized. The only thing I don't really like is how exploration might be tedious, long and annoying specially in planets like zeffo.

This is a great game and I really love it. You may have to dial your graphics down but most importantly, get a controller. The movement is all wonky when using a keyboard and mouse.
