You haven't played a video game until you've played Played Metal gear rising, i used to play this game for hours back in the day i've replayed it about 15 times, just got it on steam and finished it in 1 session still hits as hard as it did back then 9/10 game. it lose's a point because well.. the camera mechanics ARE THE WORST THAT IVE EVER EXPERIENCED IN A VIDEO GAME EVEN WORSE THAN DARK SOULS, LIKE BRO THIS CAMERA DOES MORE FLIPS THAN RAIDEN HIMSELF MG RAY IS AN EASY BOSS BUT THE CAMERA LOCKING ONTO HIS FACE THE WHOLE TIME IS SO ANNOYING, ITS IMPOSSIBLE TO FIGHT MULTIPLE ENEMYS WITH LOCK ON BECAUSE FOR SOME REASON IT RANDOMLY SWITCHES TARGETS LIKE WTF, AND IT FEELS EVEN WORSE WITH THE DLC CHARACTERS. IN THE SAM DLC WHEN ARMSTRONG STARTS SPAMMING HIS DASH ATTACKS THE CAMERA TURNS INTO A PARTICLE ACCELERATOR AND CIRCUMNAVIGATES THE PLANET! PLEASE GIVE US A REMAKE AND FIX THE F*CKING CAMERA. Oh and one more thing... RPG's... PLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEAAAAASSSEEEEEE make RPG's parry able or make it so you can cut it in blade mode just add some f*cking way to counter them because that sh*t is just way to annoying on revengence difficulty, ok im done yapping now.

ABSOLUTELY GLORIOUS, AMAZING, COOL AF! It's bizarre and unhinged but makes you feel like the hero you always dreamt of being as a kid. Throw away logic and reason and do things just because they sound cool and you best believe they will look cool. Slice a giant robot in half with a katana while listening to one of the best game soundtracks ever made. This is Metal Gear Rising and you will Rise to become the legend not even nanomachines can stop. Now pick up your sword, the unenlightened masses await you

This game is really nice for what it is. I played it recently so it's way after it came out and I would like to say it does live up to the great things I have heard about it. The formula of the action hack and slash is done really well with Platinum's reputation for making the best games of this kind. The game-play is smooth and intuitive as well as easy learn but some kind of hard to master, I wouldn't say this is the next DMC but it gets the job done well enough to be enjoyable the entire game. The graphics are nice as well for when the game came out, as well as the music which is particularly amazing, the Metal Gear franchise still holding up their reputation to have an amazing soundtrack that's worth listening on its own. I would recommend this game for someone who is interested in the Metal Gear franchise to have some closure on some characters as well as hack and slash, or action games fan because the quality of this game is rare to find these days. I would say get it on a discount if you're on the fence but I totally do recommend it and it is worth the value it's giving.

Metal Gear Rising is what happens when you take the philosophical chaos of the Metal Gear universe and crank it to 11, then hand the wheel to PlatinumGames and tell them, “Go nuts.” And they absolutely do. You play as Raiden, now a full-blown cyber-ninja with a sword sharp enough to cut through tanks, helicopters, and the U.S. political system. The gameplay is fast, flashy, and brutal, with a unique parry-based combat system that feels incredibly satisfying once you get the rhythm down. At first, it can be unintuitive (the timing takes practice), but once it clicks, you're practically dancing through boss fights. The story is absurd in the best way. It leans hard into Metal Gear's signature themes: war, identity, memes. But delivers them with explosive action, over-the-top villains, and monologues so dramatic they practically melt your controller. And the soundtrack is one of my favorites in the Metal Gear franchise. A relentless barrage of heavy metal that perfectly syncs with the action. Every boss fight feels like the finale of an anime you didn’t know you were starring in. It’s short, a bit rough in its camera angles and difficulty spikes, and not meant to be stealthy, but it owns what it is. It’s not for everyone, but if you stick with it and let yourself enjoy the chaos, Metal Gear Rising delivers a genuinely memorable, adrenaline-fueled ride.

The combat gameplay feels simple but still more complex and difficult than God of War. Despite it's simplicity the dynamic and unique movements, weapon options, and skills make the game incredibly high value for the price in comparison to modern games. To further my point it has decent replay-ability for perfectionists and theorists. The flaws I've noticed are camera angles can be an obstacle, custom costumes don't show up in cut scenes, and changing back up weapons/secondary weapon takes too long.

I really wanted to like this game. There are some great ideas in this game. Blade mode is certainly bad ass, but gets a little old after the 10th time you use it, let alone the 1000th time. The combat seems fun at first, but the lack of an extensive moveset means you do some of the same moves a lot. And these are the good things about the game. Parrying is absolutely vital to the combat in this game, and yet it is the worst mechanic in the game. The in-game instructions are awful for it and don't explain at all how to do it. After reading multiple forum posts I finally figured out the intended controller output for it. When you get to actually applying it, it's a mess. Timing is nearly impossible against bosses and is way different timing than fighting the standard goons. Why would they make a mechanic where you get used to the timing for 90% of the time then make it completely different for the rest? I practiced the parry mechanic over and over even against the same boss dying multiple times just to try to get the timing right. I would wait til the last second and parry and it would be too late. I'd go just a little earlier and it was too early and would block instead. I understand bosses are supposed to be difficult, I'm not opposed to difficulty going up with them. But the crazy timing difference was so ridiculous that against bosses I would just use the dodge mechanic instead, which was way easier to pull off, but would make the rest of the fight more difficult because parry is what opens up the bosses to be hit. The most annoying thing in this game is the rocket launchers. You're in the middle of a combo against a swarm of enemies and a goon with a rocket launcher from across the map shoots at you. It's not in your field of view, so it's hard to see it coming. There are other audio and video queues to help you know it's coming, but they don't help you that much. Your options to not be hit by the rocket are perfectly dodging or cutting it in blade mode. But since you don't know how far away the enemy is and it's not in your vision, the timing is nearly impossible. It's just one of those things that makes the game worse as it impedes the flow of the game. Weapon switching is atrocious. It pauses the entire game for you to change your weapon. In a game where you can have multiple weapons to make combos. In order to weapon switch for cool combos between them, you have to do a frame-cancelling move, open up the weapon switch menu, switch weapon, back out of menu, continue combo. It just doesn't flow well for how fast-paced this game is. The story is classic PS3-era. Angry banter back and forth that actually made me laugh for how over the top it was. Overall I don't think this was a bad game, but I wouldn't recommend it because if you're looking for a game like this, you might as well just buy DMC5. Better mechanics and controls, more extensive moveset, better story, no random bullshit rocket launchers.

I dragged my ass through every second of this game - the annoyingly and at points incomprehensibly written story, the game that goes on and on about everything except the things I need to be good at it, how it wasn't all that accomodating towards people who haven't played spectacle fighters before. But a lot of that can be attributed to 2013 design mindset of game design and I don't like being negative towards a game I spent fifteen hours of my life actively finishing, so I will say the combat is lovely (even if it left me a bit in the dark as to how to do perfect parries) and leave it at that. It's fine. If you like spectacle fighters it's good. If you don't like spectacle fighters and you have people urging you to finish it like I had, give it a try anyway, but only if they are willing to go on this journey with you. There's no point going on a journey that you won't enjoy if you can't find anyone to tell it to.

This game is a lot of fun. The voice acting is good the gameplay is incredible the soundtrack is ahead of its time and the story is pretty cool. The boss fights however are a different story, but overall I'd give it an 8/10.
The plot points of an Anime, with the strong flavor of 'America'.
Story is pretty entertaining and interesting. Cyborg mercenaries, giant robots, and a Brazilian samurai. Emotional and yet silly. Game play is satisfying once you get the controls and mechanics down (I recommend controller for ease of use). The learning curve is a bit sharp, but everything is possible. Music is fantastic and a joy to listen to in and out of game. I had a great time, greatly recommend.

Short but sweet action slasher with a fun unique mechanic. The action cutscenes are amazing but the cringe side characters and their need to talk constantly are the worst part of the game. Skip all the talking and slash cyborgs in half.

Absolute banger of a game, my metal gear was rising to the point that it was solid for most of it. HOWEVER,
the final boss fight is terrible, it was very difficult (not my main issue with it) compared to the rest of the bossfights and the stupid stunlock AoE attacks left me very annoyed.
really soured a good game. Still a solid 8.5/10, absolute kojinema

This game is really fun, and I enjoyed it too much on my Steam Deck. From destructible environment to gameplay, combined with the Hack and Slash genre and good soundtrack, I didn't even noticed how quick time has passed since I first launched it. But despite everything, this game has awful camera and too much relying on parrying, which quickly became annoying to me. And one of the worst facts at the current time, there are no sequel to MGR.

Played this game back in 2020 and came back just to put the cherry on top after finishing the metal gear solid franchise. This game personally will forever stand above any hack and slash game. When it comes to PlatinumGames making a hack and slash game you already know its gonna be peak.

You get a play as a cyborg ninja doing cyborg ninja stuff. What's not to like? As you get better at combat and learn when and how to do cool ninja stuff, the game rewards you for being awesome. The soundtrack is pretty rad as well. I had drifted away from MGS after MGS3, but seeing that Raiden had become a cyborg ninja in MGS4 made me really want to play this game. Raiden is 10x cooler as a cyborg ninja.

TLDR; good slasher, worth the full $30, even better value if on sale. Always thought the songs used in the Edits were edited in. It in fact just has a God tier soundtrack. Solid game that doesnt require too much knowledge of metal gear solid universe or previous games to enjoy. Good well explained story, fair boss fights with some having wacky camera angles but all around the most fun slasher game I have ever played and only one I felt good enough at combat to finish. Combat is fair and is a really fun slasher coming from a player who doesnt play slasher games. Only issue I encountered would be parrying is not explained very well, but after understanding it the game becomes 100x easier (And cooler) for mouse and keyboard. And the secondary gadget menu is sometimes finicky as it will not pop up if you use mouse with side buttons instead of keyboard key.

⚔️ Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance — Stylish, Sharp & Severely Underrated 🕹️ Played on PC 🎮 Developer: PlatinumGames 🧠 Original Concept: Hideo Kojima / Kojima Productions 📅 Original Release: 2013 ✅ What Shines Bright Like a High-Frequency Blade 🥷 Fast, fluid Platinum-style combat The developers behind Bayonetta and NieR: Automata bring their A-game. Every encounter feels responsive and rewarding. ✂️ Blade Mode = Peak Satisfaction The unique slicing mechanic is not just a gimmick — it’s pure action gaming joy. Cutting through enemies and scenery never gets old. 👹 Boss Fights Are Legendary Over-the-top, beautifully choreographed, and backed by a killer soundtrack. Sundowner, Sam, and Armstrong are unforgettable. 🤯 Story is gloriously insane Like Kojima at his most unhinged — which is exactly what you want from a Metal Gear spin-off. Nano-machines, memes, and monologues. 🎧 Soundtrack slaps If metalcore had a baby with an anime opening, you’d get this OST. It fuels every fight. ⚠️ Where It Gets a Bit Rusty 🕹️ Streaming-only (for some platforms) Playing via PS Now? Expect inconsistent performance. Not ideal for a twitchy action game where input lag kills the fun. ⏳ Short campaign Could’ve used another chapter or two. Clocking in around 6–7 hours, it leaves you wanting more — in a good and bad way. 🎥 Camera can struggle during tight spaces Rare, but noticeable — especially when surrounded or cornered. 💭 Final Thoughts It’s wild to think this Metal Gear spin-off flew under the radar for so many. It’s a masterclass in action combat, wrapped in an absurd story with explosive boss battles and gameplay you’ll want to replay again and again. PlatinumGames nailed it — and Kojima’s weirdness only amplifies the charm. 🗳️ Verdict: ⭐⭐⭐⭐✰ (9/10) “One of the most stylish, satisfying, and slept-on action games of its generation. Deserves a remaster. Deserves a sequel. Deserves your time.”

This is by far the best game I have ever played, I cannot believe that I have missed out on this game for such a long time, The story is good and short, you don't have to play the MG series to understand, The music is AMAZING, so much work was put into this game, it needs a sequel, If you want to have a fun time, play this, I still haven't 100%ed it, but there is no reason not to. Great game, the combat and music makes me actually fill like a Cyborg Ninja stopping terrorist from causing WW3 by cutting them into gradually smaller pieces, the only way this game would have been better was if there was a secret upgrade that slashed anything into pieces that even tried to get close to me. Either way, i give it 9 stars out of 11, reccomend playing for THE MEMES!

---The Test of Skill--- Metal Gear Rising Revengeance Truly no game is like this, Starting out with a Massive Boss in the Zero Level, players will be surprised how much skill this game truly Requires of you, simply too hardcore for the faint hearted, truly i say... you will not Survive. ---WARNING--- I Suggest Casuals stay away, this game Requires you Eagle Eye Precision, Panther like Reflexes, if you do not posses them, you will be Demolished, outright destroyed, emotionally, physically and mentally, you won't be able to look yourself in the mirror from how much fail you will experience, give up.

This game is the hell yeah-est game ever created by mankind. This shit must've been made inside a great forge deep in the mountains, only crafted by the greatest minds of our time. How does anything get cooler than playing as a cyborg-ninja with a sword that can cut through anything fighting giant robots and other cyborgs. Not to mention this game probably has the best bosses, each with great designs and fights. Finally the music for this game hits so hard during the boss fights since the music is dynamic. 10/10.
