I love this game so much. It is the best crime RPG action sort of game. I even found a restaurant in real life Hong Kong because of this game. Okay, so the game map is about 7% accurate to what actual Hong Kong is, but it does really capture the feeling of the city. It is the complete opposite to Watch_Dogs, that's not Chicago.

I first played sleeping dogs back in 2017 (a pirated copy, I’ll admit), and it instantly became my all time favorite, and it still is. The physics are great, the storyline is gripping, and the gameplay is just top tier. hand to hand combat easily the best. I loved SD so much, I’m replaying it now which I rarely do but this time, not a pirated one. I actually bought this as a gesture or something lol :)

Pros: - GTA but you're a undercover cop - Excellent fighting mechanics. Kung Fu + Environment. Almost like Batman Arkham series or Mad Max. - Great story - Good graphics for it's release year - Many upgrade choices, improving overall gameplay as you play - Excelent ambience (Hong Kong) Cons: - Vehicles maneuverability are really odd. Specially boats. Never drive them. They suck. About the others you get the hang of it. - DOESN'T HAVE CLOUD SAVE Is it worth it to get it for full price? Yes. Would I still wait for a sale? Yes.

Pretty good GTA-like game but with Kung-Fu fighting and car combat! There are even some level up mechanics. AND you get easily get it for $5 or less! Totally worth the $5 if you don't have it already.

this is a game you play for the story. there's nothing wrong with the gameplay - matter of fact the combat is pretty alright - but it's nothing you haven't seen a thousand times by now. open-world checklist is a pretty decent summary for that part of the game. game regularly goes on sale for a handful of pennies, and i would say i think it's at least worth a look, if only because the game feeds you a lot of story regularly.

Easily one of the most fun games I've ever played. Love the whole lore as well, and the combat is just *chef's kiss*. I wish they released a sequel like Watch Dogs did.

At first I thought it was another GTA clone and would be trash, but then I was taken aback by how good this game is. I would rate it a solid 9/10, an underrated masterpiece, sad that such a good game and such a good IP has been shelved by Square Enix, the story and gameplay of Sleeping Dogs had the potential to take on GTA's monopoly and even emerge out victorious. Personally I liked it better than all of the GTAs I have played except maybe V.

Amazing game with an amazing story and gameplay, this was the closest we got to the True Crime series, it's too bad that Sleeping Dogs franchise was killed off and we never got another game/games, Graphics: 10/10 Back when it was first released it looked amazing, it even holds up pretty well today. Gameplay: 8/10 Even though overall it's an amazing, it still has some rough edges, driving can feel a bit clunky at times and guns don't exactly have the best handling out there, but it's still an amazing gameplay none the less, especially at the fighting mechanics, which is majority of the game, fighting is amazing. Sound: 10/10 No issues found. Story: 10/10 There is enough of everything in the story, but in the right amounts, it's very weill written, it has a lot going on, but at the same time, it is not thrown at you at the same time, but everything plays out on it's own time, and everything is very well explained and portrayed.

Some games just hit — not because they’re the biggest, or the most expensive, but because they’ve got soul. Sleeping Dogs is one of those. You're Wei Shen — undercover, torn between duty and blood, walking a razor-thin line where every punch thrown feels personal. But this isn’t just another GTA clone. This is Hong Kong — alive, loud, neon-lit and soaked in a culture games rarely portray with this much respect. And when the rain falls, and you're drifting a stolen motorcycle through back alleys after breaking a Triad member's nose? You feel it. Not just the speed — the weight. The world reacts. It doesn’t forget. And neither will you. The combat? Pure grit. No guns blazing. No power fantasy. It's bruised fists, snapped arms, headbutts into air conditioning units. It’s messy. Personal. A brutal ballet. The story? Part undercover cop thriller, part tragic brotherhood tale. It’s got real heat. Real loss. No filler. A masterpiece buried under bigger names. But for those who find it? It never leaves you.

Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition is a vibrant and thrilling open-world action-adventure game that masterfully blends intense martial arts combat, gripping storytelling, and a richly detailed reimagining of Hong Kong’s urban landscape. Originally released in 2012 and later remastered with enhanced graphics and additional content, this edition offers both newcomers and returning players a chance to immerse themselves in Wei Shen’s double life as an undercover cop infiltrating the notorious Triads. What sets Sleeping Dogs apart from other open-world titles is its seamless integration of hand-to-hand combat with traditional gunplay and driving mechanics, creating a dynamic gameplay experience that feels fresh and engaging throughout its sprawling narrative. The game excels in crafting an authentic and atmospheric depiction of Hong Kong, showcasing bustling streets, neon-lit markets, and scenic harbors that pulse with life. This living city is not just a backdrop but a playground filled with side missions, challenges, and activities that add depth to the main story. Whether you’re racing through crowded streets on a motorcycle, engaging in high-stakes shootouts, or diving into visceral melee brawls, the controls remain tight and responsive, highlighting the developers’ commitment to fluid, satisfying gameplay. The combat system, inspired by classic martial arts cinema, allows players to chain together elegant combos, use environmental objects as weapons, and counter enemy attacks with precision, making every fight feel cinematic and impactful. Narratively, Sleeping Dogs delivers a mature, complex story that explores themes of loyalty, identity, and morality. Wei Shen’s journey is filled with tense moments of betrayal and camaraderie, supported by well-written characters and sharp voice acting. The story balances moments of intense drama with humor and local cultural flavor, drawing players deeply into the world of crime and justice. The Definitive Edition also includes all major DLC expansions, such as Year of the Snake and Nightmare in North Point, which enrich the base game with new storylines, weapons, vehicles, and challenges, extending the overall playtime and variety. Graphically, the Definitive Edition significantly upgrades the original’s visuals with improved textures, lighting, and higher resolution support, enhancing the immersion without altering the game’s distinctive aesthetic. The city feels more vibrant and alive, and character models have greater detail, making the experience feel more modern and polished. The audio design complements this with an eclectic soundtrack that mixes Cantonese pop, rock, and international tracks, alongside authentic ambient sounds that further bring Hong Kong to life. While Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition is largely successful, it is not without some flaws. Certain driving segments can occasionally feel unwieldy due to slightly floaty vehicle physics, and some mission designs—particularly later in the game—tend to recycle objectives, which may reduce the overall pacing. Additionally, the game’s focus on melee combat and narrative may not appeal to those seeking a pure gunplay-driven open-world shooter. Nevertheless, these minor issues are overshadowed by the game’s strong points and the engaging, immersive experience it provides. In conclusion, Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition remains a standout title in the open-world genre, delivering a captivating blend of action, storytelling, and cultural authenticity. Its fluid combat system, detailed depiction of Hong Kong, and compelling narrative make it a must-play for fans of crime dramas and action-adventure games alike. By refining and expanding upon the original release, the Definitive Edition offers a polished, enriching experience that holds up remarkably well and continues to draw players into its gritty, vibrant world. Rating: 9/10

Never played it as a kid, always knew it existed, finally tried it since it was on sale for 3 dollars, it is awesome, my only two complaints are the lack of borderless(which I know can be fixed with 3rd party tools also the game is old) and the fast traveling being locked behind taxi use, so it's kinda RNG based if you get to fast travel or not.

I am playing this game more than a decade after its release and it's amazing! I have heard so many great things about this game and these are the times where I am only playing my go to titles over and over, I really wanted something fresh. Boi was this game such a breath of fresh air for me with so much content. The voice acting is superb and the graphics hold well! Not a big fan of the driving mechanics but it's still enjoyable.

Not sure how this one flew under my radar at release, but Sleeping Dogs delivers the kind of satisfying hand to hand combat experience I crave in a game. Pair that with the sheer magnitude of the vibrant open city, and you have yourself a recipe for greatness. I'm assuming a Sleeping Dogs sequel was never released because it competed with the likes of Grand Theft Auto. Still, a shame this franchise never went any further.

Review: Sleeping Dogs An underrated open-world gem. Think GTA in Hong Kong with martial arts, an intense undercover cop story, and brutal hand-to-hand combat. The city feels alive, the driving is fun, and the action is nonstop. A must-play if you love story-driven action games.

I'm in love with Chinese GTA. Sleeping Dogs is a great game, dealing with the triads in Hong Kong. Going in and sneaking into the Sun On Yee (one of the traids) while being an undercover cop is a friggin awesome story concept, and it shows as this game has aged gracefully. The fighting system kind of reminds me of Arkham's fighting system, which is a great thing. Loving the story so far, and picking outfits is super tough. IMHO, Sleeping Dogs is a 10/10 in my book. I don't really have any gripes or whatnot, and my character is tuff af. Buy this game whether or not it's on sale.

i played this game for a while and already i have something to say as this game is the best gta clone i ever played the missions are meaningful deep and very emotional combat is very smooth elegant and realistic but the only problem i felt and faced was the driving which felt like ubisoft games driving mechanics now i get it this is my personal experience and opinion with the car physics in this game i'm sure that some of you love it in which i lowkey hated driving in this game and i had to run and go to missions on foot.. but if we ignore that then this game is PEAK gta clone and the greatest rip off of GTA in gaming history and i mean that in a great way.. this is THE ASIAN GTA or CHINESE GTA that you can call it.. i love japanese people don't get me wrong but yea its PEAK chinese GTA clone edit: after playing it for a while now i still love it its great but its kinda boring ngl.. so yea its 8/10 but still very good

Classic. Take the tired GTA ripoff formula and inject it with a lot of heart and style with a Hong Kong crime thriller action movie for flavor and you got Sleeping Dogs. The DLC really rounds out the overall game and adds some fun gag modes as well, so Definitive Edition is an easy recommend.

this is one of the best low-end pc game, with a great story line and mechanics, i still consider this game the best game ever to exist when it comes to hand to hand combat, graphics are not so great but still way ahead of its time. there are a lot of things to explore in the open world and many interesting side quests, some side missions are even better than the main story, racing is my one of the most fav side activities in this game (especially bike racing), i first finished this game back in 2018 (pirated version), i bought it now just to support the developer and finished it once again, i really wanted a sequel to this game but ig we will never get it.

Enjoy GTA? Okay. Now, imagine it with kung fu, driving stunt scenes, bullet time and more nice action features. Then, imagine all of that at Hong Kong! Yes, out of the US-non-sense-family-guy boring stuff, for once. It's Hong Kong, babe ^^ Seriously, that's a very underrated game. Play it.

Incredible game, especially on Steam Deck - docked or handheld. This is a GTA like that takes place in Hong Kong, you are an undercover cop working with both the police and gangs of HK. The story is fun, with nice voice acting, cut scenes, animations, and writing. The combat is fun, if a little basic by today's standards. Generally it's melee combat with a focus on combos and timing, again very simple. There is some shooting and that's fun, although again usually pretty easy. The driving is REALLY nice, with a good variety of vehicles, weather conditions, races, open world driving, etc. Or you can taxi around which is nice and quick to progress through missions. The game runs incredibly well on the Steam Deck. I played the entire thing on it, including a lot of hours docked. With some settings adjustment it ran at 60fps locked at 1080p. A+++
