Fantastic game for Star Wars fans and RTS fans alike. If you happen to be both of those things, then you're sure to be in for a treat. The vanilla game itself is good, however once you go modded, you can never go back. There are few games that have such expansive mods, and fewer still that are continuously updated to this day. Almost 20 years old, and yet new mods seem to come out weekly, and old mods continue to get massive updates. Whether you are a fan of the Clone Wars, Old Republic era, Galactic Civil War, or even the legends post-Endor period, there is something for everyone. You can pick up the game on sale for less than 10 bucks. which is honestly a steal. I truly hope that we one day get an Empire at War II, or at least more Star Wars RTS games, but even if we don't, I know that this amazing community will continue to add more free content for us all to enjoy for years to come.

This is an awesome real time strategy game for star wars fans. Highly recommend. Also the expansion forces of corruption is good on its own, but also has massive amounts of replay with numerous mods. I recommend Thrawn's Revenge.

The game use to work use to be fun now i cant even open it i let it sit for a hour then i stopped it then i let it sit all night still waiting for it to open

This is one of the best star wars games i have ever played. It not only is great for its base game, but also for the massive steam workshop modding community, and overall this is a great game.

This game was one of the crown jewels of the old Lucasarts period of Star Wars games. Legitimately one of the best RTS games I've played. Then you add in the extra bonus of all the mods, you'll have a game you'll come back to over and over again, take my word for it...I've got 500 plus hours invested in it.

Not just a classic Star Wars game, but a classic strategy game overall. Definitely worth the purchase not just for the base content but with the Workshop community keeping the game stronger than ever. Cannot recommend more!

this game is one of those strategy games that i actually enjoy, especially skirmish mode (petty i know), this game, especially with mods, makes it a very enjoyable and fun game. i love space combat.

i got it when it was on sale and i have to say incredible game the base game is awesome and the fall of the repbulic is a free and incredible mod you need a ok pc to run best graphics but thats ok

When I play this wonderful game, I like to think that my main protagonist is Stuart Dunmeyer from Mrs. Doubtfire. Stu's handsome face watching over a grand battle as he calculates every move with extreme care.

great game, i really feel like the empire because im incredibly incompetent and i keep losing to some force-sensitive farmer 10/10. also it has a fully fleshed out clone wars mod (Fall of the Republic) with different start dates and a full galaxy map.

The mods are the only reason to play this game, but the base game is SUCH a great foundation for all the mods! Love it!

Amazing tactical RPG with some amazing mods, so many different fleets and armies to create with so many scenarios. 10/10 game.

The 5.1 Remake mod makes this game so fun that its not even funny, I almost shed a tear.

I really would recomend this game to most star wars fans, the game itself is alright but I recomend this game with Mods, like Fall of The Republic, or Awakening of the Rebellion

I been playing this game religiously since it's release when I was middle school. The game has always had a healthy mod community and with steam workshop streamlining it you are basically getting dlc size(the good kind) content for years to come. Something that modern game devs and triple A companies have trouble providing these days. Pure vanilla is still fun even without mods. Only real complaint that its vanilla ai when on highest difficulty just spawns and spams huge fleets out of nowhere but it is offset by it's bad pathfinding. Other than the game is one of those very rare golden goose games and worth getting if you love star wars and rts games but be warn it shows its age in the graphics department but it just means you could have any computer from the early 2000s and beyond and it will run perfectly.

Loved this game growing up as a kid and the fact that the developers are still updating/fixing this game is AMAZING!!! Also, Steam Workshop support is awesome, keeps the game fresh with custom content!

i HAVE NOT PLAYED A SINGLE SECOND OF THE BASE GAME I purely got this for the "Empire At War Expanded" mods which are amazing, 9/10, nerds like me will be so happy. I have enjoyed "Thrawn's Revenge" so much, that's all of my playtime in this game is so far. it plays pretty good with the three main things you will be doing are: Grand Strategy on the Galactic Conquest Maps, Ground tactical Battles, and my favourite space tactical battles. Let's be honest, we all play this game for the space battles. the ground battles are fun too, especially given the variations the "Empire At War Expanded" mods gives them. there are so many different units to use on quite a few different maps. The space battles though are great fun. moving your ships around can take a little getting used to, after you get the hang of things there is a good amount of depth. From how you build your fleets, how you deploy your ships, and the composition of the enemy fleet you are facing. Overall if you have seen or heard about the mods in this classic old Star Wars title and want to give them a try they are 100% worth buying the base game.

An absolute classic that is still somehow getting updates almost 20 years after it released. I only have 300 hours on the steam version, but probably a couple thousand on the disk version. Well worth the $20.

Awesome game and with the mod community making it eternal its still current and enjoyable to this day, only wish is for a new empire at war to be released

My favorite game, straight forward and satisfying

Amazing game, worth it for the continued dev support (still fixing issues after almost 20 years!) and most importantly the amazing mods. The modding community continues releasing full featured content modernizing graphics and bringing in new eras, especially the Clone Wars and post-Endor EU. Empire at War's ingenious combination of ground and space combat is an amazing decision and somehow has yet to be done again. Until then, or until the sequel, we have the mod teams.

It's everything ive been waiting for! I've wanted to play this since i was about 16 yrs old I'm 26 now and I'm so happy to finally play this. For the EMPIRE!!!!

It is a very fun RTS game, it has a little something for everyone (yes that is a meme reference).

Base games are classic, but the mods are surreal. So many more hours and still updated in 2025. God bless Steam and God bless modders ha.

Old but definitely one of the best Star Wars games. You can play as either the Rebel Alliance, the Empire or the Zann Consortium. All factions have their own campaigns. Mods add endless possibilities.

i like to spam star destroyers to finish off the enemy in campaign and space combat modes, very nice game but gets boring quite quickly

A fairly fun game, but also an irritating game. The strategy is minimal but fun. At the same time the difficulty settings don't seem to actually do anything at all. The irritating parts of the game are particularly prevelent when playing rebels, or engaging in ground combat. The space combat is fairly nice, but again simple. Come to think of it, it would be better to call this one of those games that is awsome in theory and middling to poor in theory. On the other hand it has not been price hiked so you actually get your money's worth. All told I give this game a 5.5/10. For the same concept done better try sins of the solar empire rebellion, with thrawn's revenge 2.

The base game is solid if aged. I recommend playing it if it is your first time to the game. I real fun is in the mods. Corey and the mod team responsible for EAWX, Fall of the republic, and Revan's revenge have turned this game into one of my favorites. I can't say enough positive things about their work with this game.

Hands down will always be the best Star wars game out there For me 11/10 story is amazing for a old RTS may not be canon and based off of legends but still fits in the universe so well Long live the Consortium

ABSOLUTE PEAK GAME ive been playing atlkeast one game aday with my friends.

Empire at War Forces of Corruption is a one of a kind rts game. The modding community has made it even better. The combination of space strategy and tactical combat for space and ground gives this game depth no other rts has. I bought this game new Christmas 2007 and it is still a regular part of my gaming time thanks to a fantastic modding community. Especially Steiner Modding Group, Cory and all those responsible for the expanded games and Nomada Firefox. This game and its mods beat all the contenders hands down.

Bought for the game. Stayed for the mods, which are functionally a mix of sequels and full-feature expansion packs. Workshop gives this game easily 10x+ more content.
