The Curse of Monkey Island is the best in the series. Somehow, it takes everything great about the first two games, the humour, the puzzles, and the animation, and improves on them. I’m not sure how they did it, but it’s the perfect blend of everything that worked in the first two games, yet it exceeds them in every single way. The animation is mind blowing for a 1997 game. If it were released today, it would still hold up. The world is vibrant, lively, and beautiful, and I can’t help but appreciate the attention to detail. The puzzles are clever, fun, and genuinely satisfying to solve, and the writing is as sharp and hilarious as ever. The game takes the best aspects of both its predecessors and somehow manages to push them even further. Every moment, every joke, and every puzzle hits. It has aged wonderfully, and playing it today feels as fresh as ever. It’s just a fantastic game from start to finish, with no real flaws to speak of. Curse of Monkey Island is the blueprint for what a great point & click game should be, and it stands as a timeless classic. In fact, the best way to experience the Monkey Island series is to start with this third game. The charm, humour, and gameplay are so engaging that it makes it the perfect entry point. Playing the first two games first might leave you frustrated or disengaged, but starting with Curse of Monkey Island sets the bar high and lets you appreciate the earlier titles more when you circle back to them. If you haven’t played it yet, do yourself a favour and dive in. It’s one of the finest experiences you’ll ever have.

Dad saw an old game on Facebook and felt nostalgic. He asked me to play it with him. I said of course. He bought the game, played for a while, then fell asleep. Forgot he even owned it. 10/10 — from Dad 👍

The Monkey Island saga is one of my all-time favorites, and the one that fills me with the most nostalgia. The Curse of Monkey Island in particular stands out as one of the best in the series. The puzzles are cleverly designed—challenging enough to keep you thinking, yet so well-crafted that you’re motivated to push forward without resorting to online help. The atmosphere of the game is purely awesome. Humor and charm are everywhere, with witty dialogue packed full of punchlines that still make me laugh today. Every character encounter feels like a small comedic gem. And then there’s the music—epic and unforgettable. Every time the main theme kicks in, I'm chilling. It’s one of those soundtracks that stays with you long after you’ve finished the game. If you’re looking for a laid-back, point-and-click adventure filled with fun dialogue, clever puzzles, and a wonderfully crafted world, look no further. The Curse of Monkey Island is not just a great entry in the series—it’s a must-play classic.

That game though, was really fun. I would even say a pillar in the point and click industry. The boat minigame in particular could have been the whole game. Loved it.

Enjoyed this one most. WHAAAAAAAAT? NOT MI1 OR 2? Nope. This one rocks. Couple of rought puzzles in the middle of the game. Generally rougher than the first two, but proper enjoyable story. Plus... Murray.
