Crysis 2 Remastered (2021)
Perhaps one of, if not THE best sequel
Graphics:
☑️ Beautiful
☑️ Good
☐ Decent
☐ Bad
☐ Don’t look too long at it
The graphics are top-level: textures, weapon design, the nanosuit and its animations look amazing. It was visually enjoyable every minute. I especially liked the variety of locations — from narrow streets and wide roads to indoor areas and large open spaces. No sense of repetitiveness.
Minor flaws:
- The cutscene style looks outdated — like they weren’t remastered at all.
- Character models and facial animations don’t match the overall visual quality. Not terrible, but not great either.
Gameplay:
☑️ Very good
☑️ Good
☐ It's just gameplay
☐ Mehh
☐ Just don't
I played this game right after "Crysis Remastered", so I felt the difference very clearly. The first game felt unfinished, but the sequel is a complete and polished experience.
Positives:
+ The weapon customization system works really well — you can change parts quickly at any time to adapt your gun for stealth or open combat.
+ Instead of side missions like in the first game, there are alternative routes and ways to move through the map. This keeps the gameplay flexible and interesting.
Fixes and improvements:
+ The nanosuit is now balanced and upgradable. The armor mode really helps in heavy fights, and stealth works well too. You can also upgrade specific abilities to match your play style.
+ Lots of different weapons with their own feel, recoil, accuracy, and weight. Plus, there are temporary weapons like machine guns, AA launchers, and rocket launchers. I was always changing weapons — not because I could/had to, but because I wanted to.
Story:
☐ Lovely
☐ Good
☑️ Average
☐ Some lore
☐ No Story
The story is still quite simple but much more interesting than in the first game. Some characters like Prophet, Hargreave, and Tara Strickland are more developed and have motivation with some background. Enough to stay interested, but nothing too deep.
Audio:
☑️ Eargasm
☑️ Good
☐ Just Ok
☐ Bad
Voice acting, gunshots, and sound effects are great. The soundtrack fits the game very well and matches what's happening on screen — much better than in the first game.
Difficulty:
☑️ Easy
☐ Easy to learn / Hard to master
☐ Difficult
☐ Dark Souls
On "Veteran" difficulty, the only real danger comes from explosions (like tank shots) or large Ceph enemies. Others are easy to shoot from cover or sneak past using stealth mode.
Grind:
☑️ Nothing to grind
☐ Isn't necessary to progress
☐ Average grind level
☐ Too much grind
☐ You'll need a second life for grinding
Technically, you need to collect Ceph genetic material to upgrade the nanosuit, but there’s more than enough throughout the game. Even skipping big enemies, I was able to unlock all useful modules.
Game Time:
☑️ Long enough for a cup of coffee
☐ Short
☐ Average
☐ Long
☐ To infinity and beyond
On "Veteran" difficulty: 6 hours — 21/35 achievements.
Bugs:
☐ Never heard of
☑️ Minor bugs
☐ Can get annoying
☐ The game itself is a big terrarium for bugs
Hitboxes from behind are a bit weird. For silent takedowns, you have to stand exactly behind the enemy. If you’re a bit to the left or right, the takedown may fail and turn into a loud attack. Not a big problem, but sometimes annoying.
Price:
☐ It's free!
☑️ Worth the price
☑️ If it's on sale
☐ If you have some spare money left
☐ Not recommended
Overall:
Score: 7.5/10 — a great example of learning from past mistakes.
