I like the game. It feels like a 2009 game for sure, which I don't mind. I didn't have to patch anything or set settings compatibility mode, it just works for me. Windows 11, RTX 3060.

🧿Gory Glaive Fun in a Gritty Sci-Fi World! "Dark Sector" is a third-person shooter that leans into its dark tone, brutal combat, and mutant powers. You play as Hayden Tenno, a secret agent who gets infected with a mysterious virus that gives him a deadly glaive and some freaky powers. The story tries to be serious and mysterious, but it’s mostly just a backdrop for stylish violence. Hayden isn’t the most interesting protagonist, but his abilities definitely steal the show. The glaive is the star of the game, acting like a boomerang-blade that can slice enemies apart in slow motion. It feels amazing to throw, catch, and use in creative ways, like igniting it with fire or electrifying it mid-air! The shooting mechanics are serviceable, with a cover-based system. Combat gets repetitive over time, but the brutal finishers and power upgrades help keep it from feeling dull. The game has a very gritty, cold atmosphere, with Eastern European-inspired environments full of rust and shadows. Enemy designs are creepy, especially as the infection spreads and things get weirder. There’s a nice mix of human enemies, mutants, and armored bosses that keep you on your toes. Visually, it was impressive for its time, especially the lighting and gore effects. The soundtrack is minimal, but it helps build that oppressive sci-fi mood. It doesn’t have much replay value, and the story ends without making a huge impact. Still, the glaive mechanics are unique enough to make the experience stand out from other shooters of the 2000’s. "Dark Sector" is a solid B-tier action game with one really great gimmick and a cool aesthetic. It’s not a masterpiece, but it’s definitely worth a spin if you like violent sci-fi with a stylish edge.
