It’s honestly a bit tragic to watch how fast this game went from “could be a masterpiece” to “whoops, we forgot to finish it.” As I’m writing this, there are a staggering 20 players online, while hundreds of thousands own the game. The core idea had so much potential, like an underdog story that ended up being a cautionary tale. Let’s talk about matchmaking. I’ve never seen a game work so hard to make progress feel impossible. Imagine being a level 2 player tossed into a match with a level 15—it's like being a toddler in a ring with a professional wrestler. You get obliterated before you even blink. It wasn’t just frustrating, it made the story feel like a cruel joke. Why even try to progress if every match is rigged? And if you think that’s bad, don’t even get me started on the lack of anti-cheat. It felt like cheaters were the VIPs, walking right in like they owned the place. There was zero protection against them, and honestly, it felt like the developers didn’t even notice—or worse, didn’t care. It’s like inviting the worst people to your party and wondering why it’s so ruined. I genuinely loved the idea when I first played the alpha. PvP + PvE, a dark atmosphere, survival mechanics that gave me a thrill—until matchmaking and cheaters destroyed it all. I wanted to love it, I really did. But the developers couldn’t be bothered to give it the attention it needed. It’s like they started a cake and forgot to put it in the oven. This is genuinely one of my favorite games ever. I dislike FPS games, so Hell Is Others turned out to be an addictive alternative for me. The visuals made me feel right at home (having fully enjoyed playing Katana Zero and Everhood before) and I am obsessed with the base-building aspect + the grind of getting items for money and growing the strength of my character (until I die and have to do the process again, which I honestly found to be really fun). I remember seeing tiktoks about the game before it came out and falling in love with it instantly. I really wish the game had a more active player base like it used to in 2022. I can't recommend Hell Is Others enough!!
