Has a serious graphical glitch right at the options and game menus, one can neither see the text nor pop-ups' texts, rendering it unplayable. It used to function, and I wanted to replay it, it can definitely function, it just needs to be fixed.

It's pretty bad. Easily gamed, everything boils down to just look at which bar goes up and down and the policies do not reflect real world data at allllll

I love graphs and stats and bars going red and green but this game sucks megahard.

Two main problems with this as a game 1) In no universe is this ever worth the full $25 asking price. If it is 70% off as part of a sale THEN it becomes viable, but that leads to the second problem: 2) It's still far too easy to run a country to whatever you want it to be. Here's how the game works. At the start you are presented a number of problems to eventually solve, and each turn you get points to make policy adjustments in order to solve those problems. Small policy changes like "Legal Aid for the Poor" will only cost you about 3-4 points, Creating a "CO2 Tax" will cost you lose to 39 points, and you get about 10-20 points a turn depending on how your cabinet is staffed, which is randomly selected for you at the start of the game but you can clear out and restaff at will. That's all there is to it. You adjust a bunch of sliders on policies to try to solve problems presented at the start. Some other problems may pop up later in the run, but if you make it past your first term you usually can build up enough points to handle whatever else gets thrown at you later in the game. Picking different countries presents you with different problems to solve, but overall there's not much to it. The workshop does okay with creating new nations and introducing new policy ideas to play with in addition to the base game, but overall this game as a political simulation is very surface level and not very deep. I only sunk 130+ hours into the game to get all the steam achievements as part of a completionist phase I am going through, found out that two of the achievements can only be earned if you download mods of the workshop, and then I was quick to move on from this game after that. There is a "Democracy 4" game which is VERY SIMILAR to this one, I have no desire to check that one out and feel like I got as good of a taste as I will get from this game.
