A very fun, extremely replayable, modified chess game where you can get unique units, upgrade them, ect. and the options are different each time, making for a new experience every game

If you like chess this game has a cool rougelike twist to it, it can be pretty repetitive at some times, but overall it's a nice twist on a normal game of chess.

It's just... not fun. Too many caveats, random piece functions, and limitations that are imposed onto you, but not the enemy. Like why am I playing against a piece that has the movement of all vanilla chess pieces, while all I have is a piece that can move like a king with one more space lol. Even at 1900 elo on lichess, this just isn't fun, nor does it use any chess principles really.

As an avid chess player, this is great. However, it has some issues I found after completing it the first time. I couldn't see myself playing this for too much longer, because while it's fun and could have replayability, the execution of the roguelite is missing something at end game. So, you go through stages of having upgrades, improvements, new pieces etc. Eventually you beat the final boss, and then you can decide to continue infinite mode....except it's a very boring infinite mode because you can no longer get upgrades, spend your gold, recruit new units etc. You just keep playing till you lose. An infinite mode for this game should keep you on a procedural generated or random map I feel, with upgrades, recruit, sacrificial altars etc. I would have loved to see a way to expand you roster size too, in infinite mode. Ultimately I think it doesn't offer too much incentive to replay it, unlike the developer's other game Gods vs Horrors.
