I love the "vibe" of this game; the gold filter, the soundtrack, the secret places, secret air ducts pathways, hacking people's computers and reading their emails and journals, reading their personal drama and gossip, sneaking around to see if there is anything else to hack and actually finding it. I really love the Deus Ex series. I wish they'd make more games like this.

Played the original when it came out but did not focus much on the story. Playing this again and mindblowing story aside, as a stealth ninja fan the gameplay is also too addictive. 10/10 story and gameplay

After about 20 hours of play during the boat level, after I put the eye to the scanner, the game just stopped working entirely. Wouldn't launch. Tried verifying integrity of game files, tried uninstalling and reinstalling, tried restarting my PC and funky launch commands. Nothing worked.

This game simply fails to even load up. I tracked down the problem to it being to do with the game not being able to handle over 24 cores and crashing to desktop. Unfortunately, even the mods online that tried to get around this problem now fail to work. Even with using a steam code to force the game into ignoring this problem, it instead loads but with no sound enabled. So between the choice of it not loading up or not having any sound, this game should be a hard pass if you have a newer PC.

Overall I would recommend buying this game on a discount as game itself is great, but the relative lack of post launch support makes the game difficult to run on modern hardware. Story: Though Human Revolution is a prequel to Deus Ex, the story within largely stands up on it's own merit so it can be enjoyed by players new to the franchise or returning veterans. I personally think that my enjoyment of the story was somewhat diminished due to playing the original Deux Ex beforehand, but I think understanding the references to it made up for me predicting a lot of the plot points of the story. Jensen and much of the supporting cast are well written and likable though I think the motivations of the games villains and Jensen's relationship with his girlfriend could have been expanded a bit further. The final persuasion event really made me scratch my head since the major villain's whole world view and plan were dismantled and defeated in like 5 minutes, but that's neither here nor there. All things considered the story is well put together and I think that choices the player is able to make throughout the story as well it's conclusion are handled better than in the prior two games. 9/10. Gameplay: Human Revolutions progression is largely centered around augments which opens up options for the player to progress through the map with it's impacts on combat being fairly negligible outside of inventory slots. This leads to several augments being far less useful than others though it approaches the useless of swimming as in the original DX. Combat uses a cover system with both enemies and the player feeling quite squishy with a pistol headshot being able to deal with the majority of enemies in the game. This keeps combat fluid and allows stealth oriented players to be able to take most fights, though even on the hardest difficulty I rarely felt challenged in combat. This makes stealth and a pacifist approaches much more interesting and augmentations enable these approaches, though I think that it often comes down to exploring to find the right vent to get to the objective with many of the stealth innovations from the thief series going unused. Finally some aspects like hacking and certain animations are quite repetitive and take the player out of the actual gameplay. Your level of enjoyment therefore will fall upon level design which are divided between the two hub areas and "dungeons". The hub areas are a real treat to be in and are the highlight of the game while the "dungeons" range from great to so-so. This is exemplified by the "missing-link" which massively overstays it's welcome and the final area which is devoid of interesting, threatening enemies that it feels good to stealth around. 7.5/10 VFX: Though the game is fairly dated, with some characters faces not looking very good, the games visuals largely stand the test of time with it's heavily stylized cyberpunk aesthetic. Environmental design is especially excellent and do a great job of bringing to life it's levels. 10/10. SFX: I personally didn't find the OST of the game to be particularly memorable, though the overall audio design whether it be voice acting, ambient sounds, or weapons sounds were quite good only serving to bring you into the game's world; however, I the final stretch of the game's enemy VA's were repetitive to the point where I muted the game. 9.5/10 Final Impressions: Human Revolution stands on up on it's own merits as a solid game that lives up to the legacy of the original. The game kept me engaged for most of the 40 hours it took me to complete a single campaign on the hardest difficulty and while the quality does a take a dive towards its final act, it does stick the ending with a satisfying conclusion to it's story. Overall Rating: 9/10

After completing the masterpiece of Deus Ex, this game is a letdown. The shooting of this game is dreadful, like seriously who actually thinks its good. It's like firing a nerf machine gun. The accuracy of the bullets is dreadful, like bullets don't even act like bullets. Plus the jarring 3rd person cover perspective makes me think the studio couldn't make their mind up between making the game a 1st person game or a 3rd person game. Stealth is also dreadful and poorly implemented, you seeming get caught out of nowhere and even in darkness and missions seem geared towards action than anything else. Despite all this, the game prioritises and rewards stealth. Mission design is apparently complex with multiple avenues of approach, yet what they don't tell you is that it is a vent. Literally just an alternative path in the form of a vent. The game also rewards you with XP for finding the vent. If I wanted to be crawling in vents, I'd play Half Life instead. And when the combat does eventually breakout because the stealth is so scuffed, it turns out a enhanced and highly modified cybernetic security agent (and a former SWAT officer) has less durability than a low level thug with a pistol. The world isn't all that engaging and is plagued by the typical issues you get with games from the 2010's. They are all obsessed with graphical bloom and atrocious colour schemes. I might try and continue to play it but I really can't say I would.

This game is fun, but not on PC. It's a port done very poorly. The menu screen lags horribly when it feels like it, and the game ultimately wouldn't stop crashing once I was almost finished with it. Trash. No matter how cheap it is on Steam, it's money wasted on a crap-port of a game you can't even enjoy.

I never really played the original deus ex or infinity war, Human Revolution was my introduction to the universe and I was instantly captivated by it, all of the game's systems merge together beautifully and even the missing link dlc that's now integrated in the main game doesn't detract too much from the experience even if it does break the pacing a little bit. It's been almost 15 years now since the original release and it does have some problems to run in modern systems, I had to disable steam's overlay and use dxvk to get a mostly stutter-less game but it was worth every single minute.

This is where I became a Deus Ex fan. I remember playing this back in 2011 on the ps3 and having an absolute blast. The removal of the yellow filter in the director's cut is kind of weird though; I always thought that added to the game's personality. That being said, I cannot recommend this game as it runs terribly on modern PCs. Turning around at a normal speed (not snapping) causes severe framerate dips and stutters, which really takes the immersion out of the immersive sim element. I wish they would fix this but I tried fixing it myself but to no avail.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution shines as a stealth-focused cyberpunk RPG that gives players genuine freedom in how they tackle objectives. The stealth gameplay is a standout—tight, rewarding, and deeply satisfying. the game encourages thoughtful, strategic play over brute force. One of the best stealth games out there if you like the genre Augmentations like cloaking, silent movement, and enhanced vision create a wide range of tactical options, making stealth feel powerful without being overpowered. Every encounter feels like a puzzle with multiple solutions, and successfully ghosting through a mission is genuinely gratifying. The narrative is rich and layered, set in a moody, neon-lit world full of conspiracies and ethical dilemmas around human augmentation. The atmosphere, backed by a hauntingly good soundtrack, helps immerse you fully in its dystopian setting. Unfortunately, the experience is hampered by horrible load times, frequent performance issues, and too much backtracking, which slows down the otherwise engaging pacing. These flaws are hard to ignore, especially during trial-and-error stealth segments where quick reloads are essential. Still, for fans of intelligent, choice-driven gameplay—especially those who love stealth—Human Revolution offers an experience well worth playing. Score: 8/10

Really high-quality imsim, still holds up pretty well thanks to a couple of changes made by the Director's Cut. The writing can be a little goofy but it was a product of its time; the gameplay itself was incredibly enjoyable for a multitude of playstyles. I didn't have the heart to try the New Game+ mode, but I would say there's enough content in the game to give it a shot and approach every situation from a different angle. Definitely one of the greats. 10/10

Deus Ex: Human Revolution It is a first person shooter game with an very interesting story and excellent stealth gameplay. The story takes place in the future where augmentations are being used for regular as well as military purposes. The story really does a good job of getting us invested and also feels like something that can very much happen in the future. The main character Adam Jensen is pretty cool and i love his voice. The dialogue writing is also very good and your choices/actions do have effect on how the scene plays through and the overall story. But the best part for me was the stealth gameplay it was very good. Always remember to look for hidden pathways or other ways to reach the destination rather than taking the most obvious ways. Directly going into a fight is not always recommended atleast i always struggled by doing that. The soundtrack and sound effects were really good and the graphics looks good too. I did feel the game did drag a little bit at times but overall its a very good experience. Its impressive that a game that released almost 12 years ago still holds up pretty well. Highly recommended for action FPS lovers. Rating: 8.5 / 10 P.S: Looking forward to play Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.

Advancing into year 2025 - with the advent of AI in recent years and the idea of transhumanism coming into play, this game paints a painstakingly ominous and probable future we will all face. The story is tight and well done in this, with a variant of endings to choose from. Gameplay is passable for a game from 2011, with some jankiness encountered at times. Otherwise, this is a damn good game especially if you love the sci-fi/cyberpunk genre.

Sadly this games pc port has a lot of fixing it needs(even more so if you run in 1440p or higher) if you're still in 1080 its still probably worth checking out but having the sniper rifle and crossbow scopes be like 1/4 of my screen due to resolution was a deal breaker for me. I will say I did like what I have played and maybe if you have more experience with things like hex editors and registry edits than I do you still might be able to get this going smoothly. https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Deus_Ex:_Human_Revolution_-_Director%27s_Cut

edgy, quirky and philosophical. on the surface you might thing "meh neutral vs cybernetic...its been done to death." but when you REALLY look into the world and story it isn't about naturalism at all. it's a open minded discussion on human agency and autonomy. asks you to question what should humans be allowed to control and...who can be trusted to control those things?

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a deep, atmospheric cyberpunk RPG-shooter that blends stealth, action, and philosophical themes about the future of humanity. Set in the year 2027, the game explores a world on the brink of a societal shift, driven by cybernetic augmentation. You play as Adam Jensen, a security specialist given a second chance at life through cutting-edge enhancements after a brutal attack. The story is rich in conspiracies, moral dilemmas, and social commentary, with just the right amount of personal drama. Gameplay is flexible — whether you prefer stealth, combat, or dialogue, the game supports it. The mechanics still hold up well today: gunplay, stealth, hacking, and augmentations are all well-designed and satisfying. Visually, the game still looks solid thanks to its stylized art direction and golden-tinged palette. The soundtrack by Michael McCann is atmospheric and memorable. Boss fights may feel a bit off compared to the rest of the gameplay, but they aren't a major issue, especially in the improved Director’s Cut version. Pros: ✔ Strong atmosphere and story ✔ Multiple playstyles supported ✔ Graphics still look good ✔ Great soundtrack ✔ Thought-provoking themes Cons: ➖ Some boss fights feel slightly out of place, but not disruptive Score: 9/10 — One of the best cyberpunk games out there, masterfully blending gameplay, narrative, and visual style.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Director’s Cut – 100% Completion Review
All achievements earned, every side quest completed, every Praxis kit found, every ending unlocked Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a slow-burn cyberpunk masterpiece that rewards curiosity, patience, and precision. Completing it fully reveals a tightly woven world built on conspiracies, transhumanism, and player agency. Few modern immersive sims reach this level of reactivity. You play as Adam Jensen, a man pulled into a global power struggle after a catastrophic attack. From that point forward, every choice matters. Missions can be approached in multiple ways, conversations have lasting consequences, and even small interactions can ripple forward. Gameplay supports a wide range of approaches. Stealth, hacking, lethal and non-lethal combat, social manipulation, or a mix of everything. The level design consistently offers alternate paths and hidden rewards. A full completion run uncovers secret stashes, unique encounters, and dialogue options that only appear if you have put in the work. The Director’s Cut improves boss fights, integrates the Missing Link DLC, and smooths out key balance issues. It still has limitations. Enemy AI is basic, and some locations feel copy-pasted. But the overall experience remains cohesive and rewarding.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution is one of the best examples of choice-driven design in modern gaming. Seeing it through to 100 percent reveals how much depth lies beneath its gold-filtered surface.
