Once you take off the nostalgia glasses and look at it with a clear head, it’s nothing more than a lazy and unfinished project. The original concept was brilliantly simple and genuinely interesting. Even the [b]pre-alpha[/b] version plays better than the final release — you could [i]feel[/i] the tension. The neighbor would actually change his house, board up windows, and there was a strong sense of progression. All of that is [b]gone[/b] in the release. The animations are heavily cut, the AI is dumbed down and stripped of complexity, and the physics and object interaction are by far the worst part of the final version. > [b]Spoiler[/b] [spoiler]During the supermarket fear, to place an item you’ll have to go through the seven circles of hell.[/spoiler] [b]Do NOT play this game under any circumstances.[/b] Don’t support laziness in development disguised behind riddles and a storyline that’s been rewritten a dozen times.

buggy but thats part of the charm, people say its a mess of a game and nothing is what they wanted but they need to remember at the time tinybuild was a small indie game studio not a AAA mainstream game studio and the game is insanely fun to play and even to just mess around with

The love I have for this game is that of a dog owners love for their fugly ass mutt, that same mutt, that shits on the carpet. And that same mutt, that violently humped grandma while everyone watched in horror at thanksgiving dinner. Suffice it to say, this was not worth its price, even during the sale it was put on. But, I still love it, regardless of how swamp ass this game is.

This game is my childhood i reccomend playing because it is an awesome game of puzzles and mystery

Hello Neighbor kept me on edge the whole time. After 12 hours, I’m still figuring out new ways to sneak around and uncover secrets in that creepy house. The AI feels smart enough to keep you guessing, and the atmosphere is genuinely unsettling. It’s a fun mix of stealth and puzzle-solving that really keeps you hooked.

it's okay if you wanna just kick back and do some puzzles but if your looking for a stealth or horror game then keep searching although the pre-alpha and alpha 1 are much better and they are free so if your looking for a horror game play those instead of this

Its so peak, its fun it got a lot of action and puzzles which are arguebly one of the best parts. The mechanics are so felxible and agile and the entire story is also very deeply involved with the perception of the game. I highly recoomend this series and the sequel to it which is Hello Neighbor 2.

Hello Neighbor has an intriguing concept: sneak into your suspicious neighbor's house to uncover his dark secrets. Unfortunately, the game’s execution fails to live up to its promising premise. The neighbor's behavior is marketed as adaptive, but in practice, it often feels random or broken. Sometimes he’s overly aggressive and omniscient, and other times he wanders aimlessly, ignoring your presence entirely. The controls are clunky, object physics are unpredictable, and bugs frequently break the experience. Simple actions like grabbing items or opening doors can be frustratingly unreliable. Many of the puzzles are illogical or lack clear feedback, leading to trial-and-error game play that feels more tedious than clever.: While the art style is unique, the game suffers from visual glitches and a lack of polish that makes it look and feel unfinished. However The eerie atmosphere and soundtrack do a decent job of creating tension. The story line is mysterious and could have been engaging if better developed. Unfortunately, Hello Neighbor has an original idea, it’s bogged down by frustrating gameplay, technical issues, and poor design choices. I would only suggest it to very patient players who are interested in game design curiosities — otherwise, there are better stealth-horror games out there.

The only reson I still support this franchise is because it was the first computer game that ı played and it had a small but important place in my childhood but now after looking to this game again ı realize this game is just trash puzzles are stupid and meaningles level design is meh and neighbor is ineffective most of the time second game is not that good either its just a little bit better then the first game the other hello neighbor games are different games with a hello neighbor branding on them to just make them sale better like secret neighbor is just a cheape dead by daylight coppy with a hello neighbor shirt on it and story is just scramble hello neighbor lore dose not make anysense att all its just a crazy guy and a broken familly still want to buy the game ?? well go for it but dont forget the second game is better buy the second game insted also one olast thing hello neighbor 3 playtest is on steam and its free ı said it just in case if you want to play it

Hello Neighbor is an amazing game with a unique concept and engaging story, but the gameplay can be quite glitchy and frustrating at times. Despite its flaws, it's still a fun experience overall. One thing to note is that, while it’s marketed as a horror game, it’s not particularly scary. The Neighbor might startle you occasionally when he catches you off guard, but for the most part, the game lacks real tension or fear. If the developers improved the gameplay mechanics and added more genuinely scary or suspenseful moments, it could be an incredible horror experience.

This game is messy garbage. Game starts out fun in the first act, then immediately goes downhill after you get into the basement. Act 2 was cancerous because when the neighbor can actually just get you at any time and you can't escape is absolutely no fun. The puzzle that you're SUPPOSED to do in act 2 is absolute garbage and makes no sense, then I figured out that you could just do an easy cheese and jump over the wall sealing you in entirely to skip the second act. Now, tell me, when you put me through an absolute dumpster fire of an act and give me an option to cheese it, why do you think I would beat it legitimately? Act 3 is absolutely the worst of them all. After you figure out where to go originally, you can just literally seal the neighbor off from getting you entirely and he just cannot reach you no matter how hard he tries. Then, it's just extremely boring puzzle solving. I feel like an absolute prick for leaving this review when I didn't even beat the game, but it's impossible to actually bring myself to it due to all of the bugs and boring puzzles there are.

this game is sometimes good but mostly average and for $30 its not worth it if you really want this game go ahead but I recommend to wait for it to go on sale

i love this game. since my childhood, i watched FGTEEV play this and FINALLY, after YEARS, i bought it.

This was my childhood game and once u beat and get mods its like 100X and im not even exatrating it

I personally wouldn't recommend this game to the average person but I still think it's a good game. Despite the physics being all over the place, the amount of platforming required being stupid and the fact this doesn't even feel like a horror game, it's just fun to mess around in.

Although the game can be buggy, I would recommend giving it a try. It's a 50/50 whether you'll like it or not, but just be patient and see what the game has to offer.

Playing this game after years of wanting it is like a fever dream, i still listen to the ending soundtrack for nostalgia, makes me cry.

Please fix your settings to where people can edit their resolution, i accidentally set mine really low and NOW it can't go back up at all.

Honestly solid semi horror game to play and the story is really interesting, love the concept of sneaking into your neighbor's house and finding out his secrets and trying to sneak into his basement, no other game i have seen has that kind of idea and storyline. Yeah there are a lot of bugs and glitches in this game, but tbh thats what makes it really fun and playable still to this day, you can still discover new ways of beating the game as well as secrets you didn't even know where in the game, overall super fun game and not scary at all

the game is fun most of the first act and when the neighbor sees you jump and sometimes die if your unlucky and i think the music when he's close by is great and scary butt the physics of the objects are really bad act 3 is really hard and you will need a guide on youtube and act 2 is fine but its kinda hard if you dont know what your doing and act 1 is the best act its small the neighbor can see you easily so he's an threat and he's sometimes smart and the start is amazing in act 1 it shows that the neighbor locks his son in the basement so you need to know whats in the basement but the only flaw in act 1 you need to stack up boxes to get on the roof but its not easy to notice and i wish at the final act you need to beat the huge neighbor but you just need to parkour to attack him and he also does nothing he just stands there i still think its goood

about game: grafics are cartoony but some reason its called horror game, AI is Ok, phisics are horrible i mean you cant even box up game will throw you away. its like a parkour and adventure game i didnt really like about that much when we have speak to the horror game and not for fun. act 3 is the worst, act 1 act is complete masterpiece. overall this game is good with mods and its not horror. i recommend with that part but for horror game...... no

good ngame vary buggy but its fun. fun fact if you dont move not even move your camra a green box will apper and go in it put in a code and you will go in the error world in their you can remove the neighbor.

Hello neighbor is really fun. Its got a amazing story and lots of gameplay and secrets! I had this game on an old account but unfortunately it got hacked so im here again :)))

My kid likes this terrible game for some reason. Maybe it will help him out smart a kidnapper one day.

It´s not as bad some people say. its got weird physics but nothing terible atleast in my playthrough. I recomend this to everyone, especialy for the nostalgia. 8 years is crazy..

This game takes alot of time, but funny and good, and hard

Having grown up watching different gaming youtubers play much more interesting and coherent versions of this game, I thought I'd be getting a more polished version of the game that I had watched. Instead, I was presented with what felt like an unfinished product. There are buggy physics, an unpolished UI that I had to navigate with arrow keys only (no mouse functionality) to find the controls (because there's no beginning explanation of controls), and a frustratingly campy neighbor AI that was kind of creepy at first but quickly became just annoying because he'd constantly hang out right where I needed to be. The sounds of him chasing would play even when I was out of view, physically inacessible, AND when he had stopped giving chase. I looped him around the house and the sounds made me think that I had him behind me, but I turned the corner to see him standing there just fine while the chase music was still playing. The AI got so bad that I just started running into him to get it over with so that he'd hopefully reset somewhere else. After spending a good amount of time trying to figure out what to do at the very beginning of the game, I'd explored all of the avenues I thought would lead somewhere and had to look up a guide. Frustrated that I had to do this at all, I decided to read some steam reviews and after doing so, it seems like many people have only finished the game with the help of a guide. Personally, I'd rather play a game than pause every few minutes to read instructions on what I'm supposed to do next. Some people have speculated that the devs were catering to streamers that had whole chat rooms to suggest different things to do, which could be an explanation for why it's so impossible for just one person to naturally find that out. The game feels very unfinished and seeing as to the fact that there's been a sequel and animated series out for a while, I doubt that we'll see any developer care enough to fix anything here. And while I'm already shitting on the game, the sound design is awful.

playing this game starting on console and coming to pc, its really nice to see the game age alot and ge addons, and overall its amazing

terrible. This game is made poorly and is even worse considering how much it costs. its full of bugs that have not been fixed. And an unbelievable amount of poor game choices. If you want to play something that's actually what this game promises, I'd play alpha 1,2 and the pre-alpha. there are also hello neighbor games on game jolt that are made fantastically. acts one and 2 of this game are fine but act 3 has me literally shaking with rage. overall, this game is a massive disappointment for all of the reasons listed and as much as I love the idea of a stealth horror game with an advanced AI, this is just not it. The neighbor is incredibly buggy, and will place and insane amount of cameras in the same area. if you want to play a game that better matches the description of this one, then play the alphas.
