Goodness, where to start... I only found this game after playing the demo for Dispatch and checked out Telltales' other titles and I am so glad I did. Despite its age (and some graphical glitches as a result) this was a story I binge-played all in one day. It feels like you're watching a movie to the point I'd sometimes miss the pop-up QTEs because I was so enraptured with the story. - Excellent voice acting - Art style still holds up to today's standards - AMAZING writing with plenty of twists - Your choices really do have an impact - Definitely has replayability My only two gripes would be that I didn't seem to find some kind of easy save/reload factor for replay value and that sometimes the QTEs were difficult because the red circle was against a red backdrop and it was difficult to react in time. But do not let that dissuade you one little bit. I highly HIGHLY recommend this game for people who love choice-effecting cinematic-level experiences!

I was hooked on the game before episode 1 even finished, but the fact that the game came out in 2013 and people have been waiting over 10 years for a sequel is flabbergasting to me due to the fact that I just beat it and im already wanting for another game in 2025

Nice story i like how all these different fantasy characters are put into one game! Ending was interesting i think that was Faith glamoured as Nerissa because she said the same thing as faith in the beginning "You're not bad as everyone thinks you are"! Very excited for the sequel!

This is the first game of Telltale I have ever played. The story is rich and I really want to read the graphic novels. The game was worth it's price, I have only heard about The Wolf Among Us by seeing some thumbnails of gameplays from some youtubers I used to watch but I have never seen the videos, just remembered the main character's face. Because of this I was really surprised when the fairytale world was presented to me in the beginning. I though it was going to be odd, or a little off for the story they proposed to show, but...wow! All was in their right place, the characters, their stories, their personalities were credible. This game made me realize that some people can manipulate you to like them, even when they aren't the best person in the room, and that u need to do some hard choices for them to not hurt anybody else, even when your heart aches for some of them. Made me angry because you try to do your best being Bigby and still...no one ever say something good about you, and if they say it is followed by a complain. You're being literally ripped apart in those chapters and have to hear characters that spent their time sat on a chair telling what to do complaining about how you managed the situation. I really don't appreciate Snow White's character in this game/universe, anyway, I did my best to respect some of her decisions. If you are a person who gets really irritated when face no fairness and ingratitude you're really going to have a hard time like me with this game! 😆

Incredibly well made game, basically all components of design are done competently. Standard Telltale production that's more of an interactive cinematic than a game per se, but choices do matter. Art + Sound: Not an video or audio guy, but it looks good and sounds great after more than a decade. No complaints from me. Characters: The characterization always functions, and sometimes it shines. In a vacuum, an overwhelming portion of the cast is relatively two-dimensional. Still, each one operates as some manner of modern-day progression and reconstruction of their associated fable, which gives most more than enough texture to stand them on two legs. Bigby is beyond excellent and the obvious standout, par for the course in being the PC that you spend the entire game with. He's compelling on his own and a wonderful fit for morally elastic player expression at the same time. Setting + World: Setting is dope, noir with a fantasy slant. The premise of fairy tale motherfuckers being transplanted into New York, forced to tolerate the existence of each other and modern society, is fun and largely doesn't disappoint in execution. Effectively all introduction of worldbuilding elements felt organic, so my criticism is all just nitpicking. Narrative: The plot's pretty tight. Mystery style of storytelling, so tons of twists and dead ends for folks into that. Sometimes splashes into social commentary. Misc: Complete personal bias here, but any game that positions the PC at a mid-level position in a larger bureaucracy is awesome to me. Piloting Bigby offers an action hero power fantasy alongside an everyman roleplaying in having to juggle both legalistic constraints and fragile interpersonal relationships. I can't help but love this shit.

A Telltale classic! Really enjoyed the story. If you enjoyed the walking dead series you will enjoy this game. Here's hoping the sequel sees the light of day.

Fantastic story, with fun and often meaningful choices. I like that the dialogue choices have an element of time pressure which really helps to keep the story flowing. Most were timed well, but a few of them were so short I wasn't able to watch the cutscene first, and a couple were so quick I "chose to be silent". However, that small burr aside, this was an incredible set of episodes. I'll certainly be playing through again with different choices to see other outcomes while I wait (indefinitely) for the next instalment!

Another incredible game by Telltale. The game has an awesome story and good writting, the voice acting is great and you gotta love the comic book art style. And to me at least, i think its a bit better then The Walking Dead game. 10/10 (Also Snow is an absolute baddie)

One of the greatest experiences I’ve ever had in gaming. Celeste hit me so hard , the message… all wrapped in this a pixel art that hides how deep and real it is. It’s up there with The Wolf Among Us for me. Different vibe, same emotional damage. You have to play it. Trust me <3

It's a good story but not one I'd replay just for events to unfold in largely the same way with different voice lines (there are more differences than just voice lines but not ones that impact the ultimate conclusion of the game). Worth buying on sale.
A True Noir Classic
~~~ Due to the sequel slowly approaching I revisited this game a few months ago! I love the hunky werewolf detective and all is right in the world. The Wolf Among Us holds up incredibly well for its age and I absolutely think its worth anyone's time. This title has remained uplifted in large part to it's the artistic approach. While all TellTale games have a certain look to them, TWAU really leans into the moody graphic novel style that enhances the tone. The opening menu is a great example, the deep purples and blacks give a sense of noir before you even play a chapter. Bigby's cigarette lighting up alleys and moving streets immerses the player before stepping into a scene. Atmosphere is so important in mystery narratives and these small details add up! In classic telltale fashion, a few choices don't matter all that much and a few are misleading but if you're willing to accept that going in, it really isn't all that concerning, I really do think this is one of the better games for player autonomy. Truly, the only issue I really faced was the lack of smooth saving and really needing to commit to each chapter but even then that's a small gripe! I adore the storyline, it's haunting at points especially with how the lighting is used to really draw attention to the darker moments in chapters. The action is fun and really lets you enjoy playing a character whose true forms/abilities are progressively being shown as discipline breaks and circumstances push ya. Plus, I love a good fable/fairytail adaptation so this getting a game was always a treat. Everything I could say has definitely been repeated a million times over, it's widely loved for a reason. I recommend playing it with friends after a solo experience, commentary during these sorts of games always boosts everything. Bigby Wolf rules, I love a good rugged tortured protagonist, he's a 10/10. I'm sure the sequel will be a great ride I have high hopes!
i generally don't like many telltale games, it's not usually the kind of games that I play often but this game was good, it had a really good story and kept me guessing and wondering what would happen next every step of the way. the twists in the story were interesting and the way the game gives you the choice on how to follow up with things is also interesting how it changes some things in the story. The names were also very creative to modernize and normalize the names of characters, like Bigsby - I especially liked the dialogue between the characters since everything seemed much more natural with conversations, even though the audio cut when it was waiting for your input/selection on how you wanted to proceed but that's to be expected in a game like this that focuses more on the decisions and dialogue-heavy games like this. If you enjoy games that are more cinematic and dramatic story-telling, then this is definitely worth checking out, especially if you're a telltale games fan - I definitely recommend for others to play even if you never played any telltale games, this is a good one to start with, because it's familiar characters that everyone knows but not characters that people might be too invested in, in the way that they would be with the batman telltale game, if batman isn't done right, people would criticize more, so i think there's enough freedom with these characters that the personalities for each character works well and they could use the fairytale stories as a background for so many characters, so that really helps to the stories benefit, so everyone is commonly known even if you're not a fan of the fairytale stories, people tend to know the story of snow white and the 3 little pigs and many more that are mixed in, so it does a great job of using stories we already know and then showing a darker story of what happened after the stories ended and how they acclimate to their new living conditions in the modern world. I can't recommend the game if people prefer a faster paced game with more action, if you prefer something more active and involved, then i don't think this game is for you, but if you like something a bit slower paced, more story-focused and character driven then definitely check this game out - I will just add, the quicktime events at certain points may catch you by surprise on some brief action moments, so when things escalate, just be prepared for button presses for those moments, of course it's best to be aware of the choices you make that may lead to them, but once you get to them, you might fail at first just because you're so relaxed doing slower parts to the game and then might be a little jarring when something just picks up like that and suddenly you have quicktime events happen right after and it might just be jarring for a moment but it tends to make me suddenly pay closer attention after playing more relaxed at first - definitely a good game when you give it a chance though
After I finished this game it left bitter taste in my mouth, I really liked hitting people and ripping off their arms and stuff like that but after I reached the end I felt super bad to be horrible and do everything like that. I liked the game it really affected my emotions and indeed I want more of it I hope it gets new episodes sooner or sequel I just can't believe I won't hear npcs call me Bigby again.
Great game, I was always engaged with what was about to happen for sure. My only complaint is that sometimes it felt like some of my choices didn't matter, but that's only a handful of choices. The way the story unfolds is satisfying, art style is really cool, everything is satisfying to look at, music is very fitting, the voice acting was great too. 10/10
Whoever invented Quick Time Events should be thrown into the Witching Well. Other than that, yeah. Totally worth your time. I enjoyed the story and the characters so much I would absolutely play it again to see what kind of ending some of the other choices led to, but no. The QTE really ruined it for me.
Can’t Wait for the Sequel! The writing, voice acting, and atmosphere really pulled me in. I’m pretty sure in final chapter that was Faith witched-up as Nerissa, based on the line she said: You’re not as bad as everyone says you are, just like Faith did at the beginning. That little detail gave me chills! The ending was definitely a cliffhanger, though it left just enough mystery to keep me thinking about it long after the credits rolled. I’m really excited to see where the story goes next. Bring on the sequel!
I’m a huge fan of Telltale games, and The Wolf Among Us might just be my favorite of them all. The gritty noir style, the dark fairy tale twist, the voice acting, the choices, everything about it is top-tier. Bigby is such an iconic character, and the story had me locked in from start to finish. BUT SERIOUSLY... where is The Wolf Among Us 2?! I’ve been waiting. They teased it, canceled it, revived it. I need more Fabletown drama in my life.
Captivating story with decent twists and great art. I really got attached to the characters. QTEs were confusing at times because sometimes you do the QTE and the outcome is still bad? So you're left wondering if you failed
Incredibly compelling characters. The minimal amount of buttons you need to use is still clunky in combination with the mouse. I have not read fables comics but it seems like a really solid IP that was smoothly implemented as an interactive visual novel
If I had to select one and only Telltale game to call the best, that would be it. A melancholic noir with neon lights, smoke, whiskey, and filth. A story of a lone and tired man whose work is to be the big bad wolf, but who still has a flickering hope of someone to care and say "You're not as bad as everyone says you are".
