Battlefield 1 stands out from the rest of the series by offering a fresh and immersive take on World War I. Instead of a single continuous story, the campaign is made up of several short war stories, each set in different regions and fronts — featuring infantry, tanks, horses, and even air combat. It’s a different approach, but one that works really well and gives a personal touch to the horrors of war. While the campaign is on the shorter side, it’s well-crafted, emotional, and leaves a strong impression. The multiplayer is where the game truly shines. I joined a full server and the chaos was incredible — nonstop action, constant battles, and an overall amazing experience. The gameplay is slightly slower and more tactical compared to other Battlefield titles, but that only adds to its charm. It encourages teamwork and strategic thinking, making each match rewarding. Overall, Battlefield 1 delivers a solid and enjoyable shooter experience. Whether you’re a fan of historical settings or just looking for a different kind of Battlefield game, this one is definitely worth playing.

Campaign was short but emotional, although Multiplayer is fun. Still one of the best Battlefield experiences till now. The WW1 setting is unique, brutal, and beautiful. Gunplay feels weighty, maps are massive and the sound design is unmatched, even years later. For gamers who love War and Chaos. 9/10

[Gameplay] 🕹️ The main fun is in massive multiplayer fights with many players, infantry, tanks, planes, and horses. Operations mode offers grand, multi-map battles. The single-player campaign has short stories that teach you the game, but multiplayer is the true highlight. [Graphics] 🖼️ The game looks amazing. Everything from war-torn landscapes to explosions is highly detailed and realistic. It beautifully captures the grim atmosphere of WWI. [Audio] 👂 The sound is outstanding. Gunfire, explosions, and vehicle noises are powerful and realistic, pulling you right into the battle. The epic soundtrack adds to the drama. [Storytelling] ✒️ There isn't one big story. Instead, you play short "War Stories" from different soldiers' viewpoints. These brief tales introduce you to different aspects of the war and the game. [Difficulty] 💪 The challenge comes from multiplayer skill and teamwork. It can be tough against experienced players. Single-player offers a good learning curve. Mastering different roles keeps the game challenging.

I racked up most of my hours back on the EA launcher, so my Steam playtime looks deceptively low. But Battlefield 1 is still my favorite entry in the series thanks to its distinctive atmosphere. Even after all these years, the game’s visuals and core mechanics hold up impressively well. The player base is alive and kicking too. you’ll find plenty of full community servers even on weekday afternoons. Most of the popular servers enforce K/D, KPM, or level caps, so the environment is surprisingly welcoming to newcomers.

I really wanted to enjoy Battlefield 1, but it just didn't click for me. I bought it for the campaign and oh man the campaign SUCKS. buggy sequences, boring, predictable, braindead AI enemies. Just not really as engaging as I was hoping. For the 2.50$ I got it for, sure, no biggie, but I definitely wouldn't say it's worth full price.

Battlefield 1. Man, if you're into epic, chaotic warfare, this game is just chef's kiss. It throws you right into World War I, and it's not just a history lesson – it's a visceral, intense experience. Picture this: huge battles with tanks rolling, planes dogfighting overhead, and explosions everywhere, all while you're trying to capture an objective with your squad. The sound design alone is incredible; you feel every bullet whiz by and every explosion shake the ground. It's worth buying if you love big-scale multiplayer battles where teamwork (sometimes) pays off, and you want to feel truly immersed in the chaos of war. It's loud, it's messy, and it's a ton of fun.

I was very much enjoying this game - I've owned it on 2 platforms now. We were all having fun until EA decided it'd be a bright idea to add a shady new anti-cheat which, aside from most anti-virus flagging it, destroyed my ability to even launch the game because it's flagging my drivers as cheats. A real shame, because this game is absolutely among the best in the series and was by far one of the most thrilling multiplayer games I'd ever played in a long time. Enough said - this review will stay negative until this glaring problem is addressed.

The best first person shooter made in the past 10+ years. So much care and attention to detail went into this masterpiece. Good campaign and maybe the best Battlefield multiplayer experiences in franchise history. Everything is exquisite from the lobby music down to the voice acting. A very beautiful game that has graphics on par with games made in 2024, this came out in 2016. In my opinion this game was Dice's magnum opus, and sadly it does not look like there will ever be a Battlefield game as good as Battlefield 1 again.

While it is an improvement over BF4's balance to an extent, and the campaign is a good experience consisting of a few standalone stories, it is still the same issue of vehicle mains destroying everything, just getting about 50 kills instead of 100 per match, from planes, through tanks, down to even cavalry. There is also a newly added issue that, while sniping in BF4 was a lot more limited, here they are a lot more common and a lot stronger - with a lot of the rifles having a "sweetspot" range that one-taps on body, leading to a lot of experiences of spawning and getting maybe half a second to react before you're dead, and a general sensation that snipers are too omnipresent. The UI is also very bad - you have to manually confirm joining a match when in a party, which means you will often miss it if you're looking at something else - or it will fail to join entirely even if you do confirm. The friend display on the side only updates when loading into the menu first, so if you wanna join the friend's match, you have to reboot the entire game to get it to reset. And even then sometimes it will not give you the option to join anyways. The unlock challenge progress on guns is not shown in the "customize soldier" menu accessed from the main menu, even though it does that just fine when you check it mid-match. This is probably a better overall balanced game than BF4, but is in my opinion still too lacking for me to consider it truly good. You will more often find a balanced match, at the very least.

This game is fun and all, but theres a problem. The game is not supported on steam deck. They need to make this game playable again for steam deck players, i am a steam deck user myself, and forever will be. Cause PC costs alot of money nowadays, So PLEASE EA, PLEASE MAKE THIS GAME SUPPORTED ON STEAM DECK AGAIN!! Other steam deck users wanted to play this game too!! But we all cant, cause of the anti-cheat.

Battlefield 1 is an epic, emotional, and massive portrayal of World War I. The atmosphere, attention to detail, music, and campaigns are breathtaking. But it lacks Ukrainian localization. A game of this scale deserves to speak the language of millions of Ukrainian players. Subtitles, UI, and voiceover in Ukrainian matter — for culture, for inclusion, for fairness. EA, hear us out. Ukrainians are part of your story too.

It's great first person shooter game with stunning visuals and a breathtaking artstyle (I think gaming peaked when this bad boi got released, correct me if I'm wrong because I think a sh9tty live service game called Anthem was being released during this time). However, if you're purchasing it for the campaign, it's not worth it even if you're getting it for 3 buckuroos. The main selling point of this game is it's multiplayer, and with the small playerbase of around 10k players, you'll have a hard time finding matches. EA, you stupid son of a mutt, you had a golden goose of game. It could've been the Helldivers 2, yet you followed for microtransactions just like how a gold digger follows Shiekhs in Dubai.

When Battlefield 1 was announced, the decision to set a major first-person shooter in World War I raised a lot of eyebrows. Could trench warfare, bolt-action rifles, and horseback charges compete with the flashiness of modern military tech or sci-fi weaponry? As it turns out, not only can it compete—it can deliver one of the most gripping, brutal, and beautiful multiplayer shooter experiences in recent memory. While the Battlefield franchise is traditionally known for its sprawling multiplayer, Battlefield 1’s War Stories campaign deserves attention. Instead of a single protagonist, the game offers a series of short narratives told from multiple perspectives: a British tank driver, an Italian shock trooper, an Australian runner at Gallipoli, and even a Bedouin rebel fighting alongside Lawrence of Arabia. Each vignette humanizes the war in its own way, portraying not just the violence, but the fear, desperation, and fleeting moments of heroism. The writing is uneven at times, and some stories are stronger than others (the opening "Storm of Steel" is especially haunting), but the emotional punch is undeniable. DICE made the bold choice to focus on soldiers' humanity, not just their kill count. Where Battlefield 1 truly shines, though, is in its 64-player multiplayer warfare. Every match feels like you're a cog in a massive, thundering machine of war. Infantry charges, cavalry units slicing through trenches, tanks grinding through villages, and biplanes dogfighting above the smoke—it’s chaotic, cinematic, and constantly dynamic. The shift to WWI weaponry doesn’t feel limiting. Instead, it emphasizes skill and strategy. Each weapon class is carefully tuned, from the reliable bolt-action rifles of Scouts to the brutal close-range weaponry of Assault troops. You’re forced to relearn patience, positioning, and timing—qualities often lost in twitchy, modern shooters. The Operations mode is a standout addition: a hybrid of conquest and narrative-driven objectives that stretches across multiple maps. It gives multiplayer context and stakes, turning every push or retreat into a micro-drama. Few games capture the aesthetic horror and beauty of war like Battlefield 1. From the shattered ruins of Amiens to the rolling dunes of Sinai, the game is graphically stunning. The sound design is world-class—every gunshot rings differently based on terrain, artillery shells scream with terrifying force, and the score swells during climactic pushes. Even the menu music has become iconic in its somber, mournful tone—an unusual but fitting mood for a war game. Not everything works perfectly. Vehicle dominance can still frustrate infantry players, especially in open maps where tanks and aircraft can dominate. Some maps are noticeably more lopsided than others in Operations. And while customization exists, it’s far less flexible than modern entries, which might disappoint players used to deep loadout tweaking. However, the game’s class system, combined with dynamic weather and destructible environments, keeps battles unpredictable and forces constant adaptation. No two matches play out the same. Battlefield 1 is a rare war shooter that respects the weight of its setting while delivering bombastic, high-quality gameplay. It trades in the flashy perks and gadgets of modern combat for mud, blood, and raw iron—and it’s better for it. Though not without its faults, it’s one of the most atmospheric, mechanically satisfying, and emotionally resonant shooters of its generation. Whether you’re a franchise veteran or a newcomer, Battlefield 1 stands as a bold and moving entry in a genre that often forgets what war really looks like. Rating: 8/10

I bought Battlefield 1 to relive the WW1 because I really wanted to feel the battle and various modes, but the game is now locked behind EA’s new “EA app” torture chamber. Here’s my journey: Launch from Steam → forced install of EA app. EA app installer fails with error INST-21-32. After an hour of manual fixes (registry edits, firewall exceptions, service restarts) didn't work, so I installed the EA app from some other non official site and the launcher finally opens. Click “Play” → the game fully closes after 30–40 seconds in the main menu. Repeat x3, same instant crash. Zero time in-game, maximum time spent nowhere. Key points: Mandatory third-party launcher and programs from Electronic Arts. Launcher won’t even install cleanly on a fully updated Windows 10 PC. Most support articles are wrong and not helpful. In short, I paid for a historical shooter but received an unpaid IT internship fixing EA’s backend. If you value your time, skip this relic until EA removes its own roadblocks (spoiler: they won’t). I was downloading this game 11 hours for nothing. Got a refund of course, I'm really thankful to steam support.

The campaign system is really bad. It's split into 6 different 'war stories' but each of them are completely disconnected from one another. It doesn't also help that the war stories are about an hour long, and you can't really tell a good story and flesh out characters in just an hour.

Have you ever wanted to experience World War I—not just read about it, but feel the chaos, the grit, and the intensity of the battlefield? Battlefield 1 delivers that experience in a way few games ever have. Set during one of the most brutal conflicts in history, the game captures the raw emotion and scale of WWI with stunning visuals, immersive sound design, and powerful storytelling. The single-player campaign is broken into war stories, each offering a unique perspective—from tank crews to fighter pilots to infantry soldiers—bringing humanity to a global conflict. Multiplayer is where Battlefield 1 truly shines. Massive 64-player battles across dynamic, destructible environments make every match feel like a cinematic war epic. One of the standout modes is Operations, a continuous, large-scale battle mode that strings together multiple maps and objectives into a single, immersive campaign. It’s intense, strategic, and incredibly satisfying—especially when your team pushes through the front lines or holds the last objective by the skin of their teeth. Whether you're charging through trenches, riding horseback across deserts, or piloting a biplane through flak-filled skies, the action is intense and unforgettable.
