When I was young or maybe teenager. I saw this game many times it's really beautiful and astonished. A jet flying up from carrier ship still mark on my eyes when I saw it first time. I want to play this game so bad and I recently bought this game today. (same day as I reviewed.) I can't believe it I have to go to battlelog and have to activate key I got an internet but EA app said I'm still disconnect. I'm take a look all of forum, reddit or even youtube to fix it but I can't see any way to resolve this problem. I think I have to refund this game now you make me really disappointed. it's not the customer's responsibility to fixing your game that's takes several hours. Games it should be a good experience and moment for players not a cash grab and do nothing. that's really awful what a shame. (sorry for my bad english. I try my best. thank you.)

Must play battlefield campaign game still looks great, So here is the fix that works for me if the game does not launch and ask you for key and all (because of that activation key bug and error in the game) https://youtu.be/QEQNZWxnNxY?si=NdvGg7oqXxWJMgFC (bought it on sale at very heavy discount) Multplayer has cheaters so buy for campaign only

Is it current world events, or is it just Battlefield 3? American forces in Iraqi Kurdistan fight their way through a growing Iranian insurgency, only to uncover a plot regarding a former CIA asset gone rogue. A man named Solomon is helping facilitate a coup in Iran, further radicalizing the country and after an earthquake devastates the border country--Iran invades Iraq under the guise of humanitarian aid. In retaliation, American forces, primarily the Navy Department's elite Marine expeditionary ground-pounders, going boots to the sand, as well as an array of top tier hardware, from tanks to Navy combat aircrafts. It was a game made to spite Call of Duty at its own game, while telling a more serious, respectable and grounded story with more realistic characters. And it actually works. The game itself is archaic in its current state. Not only does it install punkbuster, an outdated anti-cheat on your system (which is infamously hard to remove in its entirety) but also Origin. And not only that, it opens up a WEB-BROWSER when you hit play and actually prepare to start the game. Multiplayer is not only dead, but it is difficult to connect to any servers, if any even exist. Which is a shame, but thankfully, if you want to play Operation Metro Conquest 24/7 with infinite tickets, BF4 provides that option for us. But let me tell you, I have a long history with this game. One of the longest. This is merely my first time playing it on PC, but I've 100% this game at one time before. This was one of my most dedicated multiplayer experiences, as I played it even back when it was a limited time beta! Yes, the same beta where you could crawl under the map in the park and the red-dot UMP 45 was cracked as hell. I have been through this game through some trying times and have plenty of core memories with friends, dedicating literally thousands of hours of gameplay into it. And prior to that, Bad Company 2 and its expansion Vietnam occupied many late nights and early mornings. But for me, Battlefield 3 was the uncontested best game of its sort. The co-op was good, even, another thing that I had played through many times with friends, despite all the difficulties included. Especially since one mode requires a very competent helicopter pilot. But, as of now, the only thing to really enjoy with this game is the campaign. And it brings up the question, is this campaign good? How has it aged? Other than some really funny and unnecessary quick time events and a few turret sections that slow down the pacing, this game has one of the all time best linear shooter single player campaigns. While it doesn't always benefit the gameplay of Battlefield, this campaign is absolutely top tier, well acted and well written. All the errors and mistakes of the multiplayer mode are absent in the campaign. The US Marine First Recon have insanely accurate kits, although they do boldly outfit one Marine with some multicam. Even the Iranian regulars have accurate camoflague. The game has a surprising amount of variety in the campaign that is not seen in other aspects of the game. Highly detailed set pieces, like one in New York's time square, are exclusive to the single player and the multiplayer primarily takes place in the hypothetical Russo-American war the campaign prevents in locations such as Iran and France. I always speculated that the Iranian factions, both the PLR insurgents and the Iranian military, were meant to be the multiplayer factions fighting the American Marines. However, in the end, they decided to make an interesting amalgamation of the US forces branches for the USFOR and the RUSFOR are all decked out Spetsnaz type characters. The class models in the multiplayer are absolutely iconic, but once again, the campaign has such a highly astounding attention to detail in the kits that at most, the worst sin they commit is at times they are a little too generic. The Russian voice acting is competent in multiplayer, although it is done by none-natives, two brothers in particular--but one does a very near native job. The only issue there is that the dialogue and terms are at times not appropriate for the situation. The campaign, once again, surprises by having actual Russian voice talent for the Spetsnaz characters in the campaign. Dice really went above and beyond to get these guys, as minimal as their dialogue is, but it is interesting how diverse the cast actually is. A Lebanese terrorist, Solomon, is voice acted by a man from Ukraine . Kiril, a Russian GRU agent who is tasked to save Paris, ironically, is a British actor who was raised speaking Russian (rather competently, at that) by his father, who happened to be a Russian language teacher, while growing up in France. Vladimir is played by the classically trained Ilia Volok (and has ironically, also played Frenchmen) and most notably, Oleg Taktarov plays Dima, one of our protagonists. Many will recognize him as Nikolai, from Predators (2010), who plays a somewhat similar character. The story is grounded in many ways, putting us in the role of an augmented infantryman, Sgt Blackburn, as he uncovers a pretty large conspiracy regarding stolen nukes and is interrogated for it Black Ops style. We also play as a Navy pilot in a rare kudos to combat aviation in these games in a very scripted segment, but one that is still very intense and well presented. Then we have some sections as a Marine tanker, Miller, as he we get a large look at some of the maneuver warfare ongoing in the American invasion of Iran after the events in Iraq. Then, of course, we get the Spetsnaz GRU missions as Dima, which the game is pretty well known for, as its one of the most flattering, albeit realistic and stoic depictions of the Russian special forces in any popular media with a surprising amount of nuance. Remarkably, a game that went on to prove it could do a realistic COD campaign much better with only sparing, movie-like elements reserved for special scenes and climaxes, would have several of its scenes outright referenced in contemporary Call of Duty games soon after. In fact, I think it is wise that game devs use this campaign as a blueprint, since Battlefield since then have completely dropped the ball. Everything they cooked with in 3, they completely flushed down the toilet in 4. I don't even want to talk about it. For the most part, we play as Blackburn, a non-special forces Marine who is apart of the First Recon, who are "special operations capable" despite being salty grunts. A lot of the things you and your buds get up to, complete with realistic and very humanizing dialogue that is not overrun with inappropriate overuse of military jargon, feel like they were written by people who have actually experienced modern urban combat. It is great to play a game that so seamlessly lets us be the main character, while also being surrounded by just as capable characters that don't always let it seem like we are a one man army. Of course, this is subverted later by Blackburn more than a few times. And its outright mentioned by characters, later on in the Spetsnaz missions, the absurdity of the damage of what just a handful of men can do against a small army. And yet, at the same time, we have characters questioning their capability. Questioning their mission, questioning their objects. There is some very sharp dialogue that was written by people who were not just a bunch of turbonerds at the DICE offices, there are some absolute zingers that sound like they could have actually come from these characters in a natural moment in between firefights. There were a few times where it seemed like the odds were almost COD tier ridiculous, but somehow, it is easy to accept due to just how it is paced and presented. Also, it is mandatory to set your audio configuration to WAR TAPES for the most realistic and immersive audio. This should have been the default, honestly. I cannot imagine it any other way.

Note: this is not a review of the game as it originally came out, but more of a reflection on the state of the multiplayer in 2025 and beyond. The game itself is one of the better Battlefield entries (and I've put about 1k+ hours into it originally), but I cannot recommend it anymore (at least the multiplayer component) for the following reasons: 1) The game's technical state is questionable. The game is still tied to Battlelog, and it is also tied to the EA app. Launching the game via Steam will launch the EA app and open up the browser window (but not launch the actual game). The Battlelog service itself is quite jank by modern standarts, and you WILL encounter connection issues for no apparent reasons (failure to launch, etc.). The displayed player count for server is completely wrong in most cases, as server owners (?) inflate the count via "fake" players that are not actually playing on the server, but the count does show them. You WILL have to get a separate browser addon just to see the actual server population without going through each server listing manually (I used this one: FF, Chrome). In order to actually play the game properly, you will also have to update the PunkBuster anti-cheat manually (can be found at https://www.evenbalance.com/pbsetup.php), as the one packaged with the game is severely outdated. Somehow, the game actually runs worse than any other Battlefield entry on my rig. Also, as a side note, the game runs on very poor 10-30Hz tickrate servers, and the hitreg is quite ass, even when compared to other BF games on Frostbite (infamous instant TTD, weird TTK). 2) The game's population is very small, and you will only find the most popular maps/modes to be played. This is an issue if you're going for 100% or just want to play certain DLC maps/modes. Even finding populated servers with regular maps during non-peak hours will be problematic. At most, you will see 3-4 full-ish servers during non-weekend peak hours (this will vary, of course, but expect it to go down in the future). During non-peak hours, you will basically not find any fully populated servers in most cases. 3) The actual experience of playing the game is complete ass. On average, you will encounter: 50% sweats/veteran players that did not stop playing this game since it came out, 30% returning/new players and 20% actual cheaters. The cheating problem is quite obvious, and ranges from extremely obvious to closet cheaters/glitchers/macro abusers, etc. The anti-cheat is completely useless, and most servers do not care about the cheaters. Basically, if you don't want to sweat extra hard, you will not have fun. Though, of course, that is the same for every Battlefield game, but in this case it is extra annoying due to the low game population, so you get people with thousands and tens of thousands of hours team stacking against/for you. And you see the same exact people everywhere. By the time I was finished with my 100%, I barely got to 2.3 KD. 4) The "community", or what's left of it, is extremely toxic. It's best to just turn off the chat if you're playing. Fun fact: certain individuals are so bored, they crash servers for fun. When that happens you lose all your progress, and more importantly, if the server was populated, - it will most likely stay dead for a while (since people don't bother rejoining). So, if we break it down by the type of players that would consider playing this game, should you buy this game for multiplayer specifically? 1) Returning players - sure, it will be fun for a few hours to experience nostalgia, but not much more beyond that. 2) New players - absolutely not. You will not have fun (unless you are extremely casual), and the game is virtually obsoleted by its successor BF4. While that game also has certain issues I've mentioned here (sweats/cheaters), it is still a bit better due to the larger player base. Also, the game is technically superior to BF3 in every way (way more settings, runs way better on modern rigs). So get BF4 instead if you're keen on the multiplayer part. 3) People going for 100% specifically - while all the achievements are TECHICALLY obtainable as of 2025, you will have issues with certain achievements that require specific game modes, which almost never get played (they do, but you would have to hunt the specific time slots, which isn't really feasible). So, if you do not have your old account (or if that account has no relevant achievements), you will have to start from scratch. Most likely, you will need to rent a server and coordinate with a group of other people just to 100% the game. This will hold even more weight as the game gets even older (unless the servers get shut down completely, which they might in a few years). So yes, it's probably best to do it while the servers are still up, and it helps if you have your old account with most (if not all) achievements already complete. If you're looking to buy the game for co-op or the SP campaign, I also cannot recommend it. The SP campaign is never ever good in Battlefield (with the exception of BC2, where it was semi-decent).

A great experience, even in 2025! Battlefield 3 offers a solid gameplay experience with a fantastic story that really pulls you in. The campaign’s theme and setting—reminiscent of the Iran-Iraq war vibe—create a strong and immersive atmosphere that fits perfectly with the game's style. Even though the single-player campaign is on the shorter side, I'm really glad I got to play it and enjoy every moment. As for the multiplayer, Battlefield 3 still holds up well. I only played it briefly, but I appreciated the variety of maps and game modes. Unfortunately, the servers are mostly empty these days, and it’s rare to find a full one—usually only during peak hours. Still, it’s playable, and if you catch a good match, it’s a lot of fun. Overall, a great game that was definitely worth playing, even now!

Battlefield 3 may be showing its age, but it's still the kind of game where your most brilliant tactical maneuver is immediately followed by getting flattened by an empty enemy jeep going 100mph. Nostalgic, of course, if you can actually get it to launch.

Battlefield 3™ delivers intense, large-scale multiplayer with top-tier gunplay, vehicles, and sound design. While the campaign is forgettable and aging tech shows, it’s still a fan-favorite. - Rating: 8.5/10 – A classic FPS that set the bar for team-based warfare. - Video Gameplay - https://youtu.be/DbaT6M8zTzA - Follow my curator page - https://store.steampowered.com/curator/45547027/

The best multiplayer experiences I've ever had were in Battlefield 3. Nearly 14 years later, no other game has brought the same feeling that I had in this game. Nowadays, lobbies are small and generally unpopulated, but if you've got a good sized group of friends, it's still super fun. The version of Punkbuster that comes with the game is outdated, but you can install an up-to-date version manually which will keep you from getting booted randomly for multiplayer matches.

I played the original beta, back when Valve and EA were separating and it was origin only. I thought the game was alright back then, sorta decent PvP game. Finally years later I sell some trading cards, grab it for $2, heard good things about the single player which is my only interest at this point. Imma be honest, the lens flare is obnoxious, the game is desaturated to such a degree I had to use reshade to make it look somewhat decent, the story is so basic and dumb, the acting is bad. Gameplay is what it is, a battlefield game, a step above Call of Duty but both are so bad these days and haven't done much since 2010 to really move things forward. Even at $2 my life would have been better not playing this game.

This game installs a broken anti cheat called PunkBuster that NEVER leaves your PC PunkBuster stays running in the background even after you uninstall the game, and it’s a pain in the ass to remove. The uninstaller is broken, files get left behind and services keep running no matter what you do. If you don’t want a an outdated anti cheat running on your PC, do NOT download this game.

I'll only be talking about the campaign so take this review with a grain of salt: I loved the story, the dialogues, as well as the characters. It was well put, even for a game this old. I bet playing this in 2011 must've been an amazing experience. Me playing this in 2025 still found it uniquely enjoyable.

Don't get me wrong, this is one of the best instalments in the Battlefield franchise. Great gameplay, grounded visuals that hold up, in all respects better than BF4 IMO - when it works. Unfortunately, the game randomly freezes with sound looping, requiring a hard reset, often at the beginning of a match, rendering the game unplayable, even though my rig far exceeds the recommended specs. Looking up solutions online shows that a lot of people have been having this and other issues running the game, with bugs persisting unsolved. Tried everything to no avail. No problems running this game through Venice Unleashed, a community-built platform that hosts dedicated servers running mods and coop vs bots, so the issues must be with DICE's systems. As it stands, I therefore can't in good conscience recommend this game at this time. Patch the game DICE!

BF3 still one of the greatest modern battlefields of all time. Also everyone complaining about punkbuster either havent done a google research or are 2 years old (IGN workers). i got my punkbuster working and been smooth sailing since. ignore all the punkbuster comments require one google research and it will show you how to get the new UP TO DATE PB over the outdated PB BF3 has when you launch it. i recommend the game when its on sale since its quite old but its worth it once you tweak out the PB problems.

Call of Duty with tanks and some air units, multiplayer is less irritating than 4s and the guns shoot waaaay better. But that's it honestly. Campaign is even better, you get to attack Iran... for some reason.... It's still very Hollywood-esque in its logic, it's not as good as MW2 when it comes to recruitment

This game is really good and I love it. However... 1. The browser-based Battlelog for the game is an annoying crap. I'd have less of a problem with it if you didn't have to use it to run the Campaign/Singleplayer. Just ridiculous. 2. The store page states that the Xbox controller is fully supported. I used the 8BitDo Pro 2 controller with X Input, which should work. However, quick time events and some of the navigation in the settings did not work properly or at all. So you will probably need a keyboard and mouse. You might find some working fix on the internet, but I gave up on it. Maybe I need a real Xbox controller, I don't know. 3. The game requires the EA launcher, which is just another annoying layer of crap you have to go through to play the game. 4. If you want to play Multiplayer, you need to update the PunkBuster anti-cheat. The game comes with an old version which is not allowed on most servers. Get it only at a discount. Probably not suitable for Steam Deck or playing with Proton. At least EA isn't as greedy with their older titles as Activision is with COD...

Overall a really good fps game. You can see they put allot of effort into creating a gripping campaign story line and even into the missions themselves. Not allot of games out there lets You drive a tank or a fighter jet in a mission which was amazing. The cut scenes are good, the graphics even better. The ai are much harder than in Battflefield 1. The only downside of this game is that the missions are rather short, but enjoyable on the hardest difficulty . It can be hard to spot enemies in some of the jungle type layouts. The sound is good, good mission layouts etc. Overall a solid 9/10.

Bought it on day one - I remember standing in line with other fellas, grabbing the PS3 version and getting a Battlefield 3 t-shirt as a bonus. Still have that shirt to this day. The whole thing felt like an event. The game? It still holds up. The atmosphere, the style, the music and sound design, the chaos - nothing quite hit like BF3. It's an absolute classic. And yeah, DICE or EA – fix origin’s key activation issue that prevents the game from launching. The community workaround helps, but it's a mess for new and old players and absolutely kills the potential online population. BF3 deserves much better.

As someone who grew up on Battlefield 2 but never got to play Battlefield 3 when it launched, finally experiencing it now feels like uncovering a missing piece of the franchise’s evolution. Even all these years later, it’s impressive how far the game pushed things — from its immersive sound design and visuals to the sheer scale and chaos of its battles. The feel and atmosphere of the game changed significantly after the Bad Company sequels, and while I still feel nostalgic for the old-school look and vibe of BF2, these changes were a natural step forward. BF3 brought a new level of realism — collapsing walls, deformable terrain, and environmental detail we could only dream of back in the day. Seeing classic maps re-imagined here is surreal. They look drastically different but still carry that familiar spirit. The improvements in visuals, sound, and gameplay are huge. Progression also feels much better balanced as you no longer need to grind for hundreds of hours just to unlock a single badge or weapon. The single-player campaign, while more linear, offers a surprisingly captivating and cinematic storyline. It delivers tense missions, dramatic set pieces, and gives a solid glimpse into the broader conflict — a great way to warm up before diving into multiplayer. That said, this is still a challenging game. It’s not your average run-and-gun shooter where bigger guns mean more kills. Here you need skill, patience, and tactical thinking, while making use of the terrain around you, especially when it involves vehicles. You earn your kills. You earn your moments. And that’s what makes it so rewarding. Even though BF3 is over a decade old, it absolutely holds up. If you missed it back then (like I did) or want to relive the glory days, it’s still well worth playing. There are active official servers, some of which are well populated, so this classic still has life in it.

Campaign review: Peak Battlefield. It doesn't have the best visuals (obviosuly, it came out in 2011), but the story actually seemed realistic. The characters were great, nothing corny or unrealistic... unlike Battlefield 4. (Spoilers): I do, however, find it hard to believe that we could destroy an entire Russian battalion. And I also find it hard to believe that there would be no repercussions from it, like the Russians didn't care. Other than that, I enjoyed the campaign. Especially the part in Paris. You play as Americans for the most part, but you also get to play as Russians. I wish a battlefield game would let us play as Russians more. I love playing the US, but it gets old. It's also pretty clear that the campaign is a biased towards the US side, and I wish I got the same action on the Russian side. (Spoilers): For one of the American missions, you actually engage with Russian forces. I wish there was a Russian POV to this, but since Dice is an American company, I see why they did this. So, if you want a pretty realistic (and US propaganda) Battlefield game, then this is your cup of tea. Full price is definitely worth it, but if you want to wait for a discount, I was able to get this game for five dollars. And just fyi, my critique of almost no Russian POV and US bias is the only critique I have of this game, still peak Battlefield)
