a very good adventure game which feels like a playable action movie -pros- * it looks really pretty * fun combat/stealth * emotionally investing story * lara croft is very cool [strike]and hot[/strike] * (mostly) likable characters * there are silly pictures of the devs next to their names on the credits -cons- * a bit too much mashing * movement is a touch clunky (but not as clunky as you'd expect) * lara and sam aren't gay and in love :c -neutrals- * on the easier side

There's a game breaking bug in the Geothermal Caverns where a box you're supposed to climb on phases through the wall if you're playing with Vsync off. This can supposedly be fixed by enabling Vsync and reloading the save, however my game autosaved after the box was moved. Edit: My game is now crashing on boot.
Can't believe they made such an amazing game over 10 years ago
So, I recently played this game and honestly, I loved every second of it. I finished the game in about 15 hours over two days, hitting 65% completion. Why not 100%? Well, gotta leave some stuff to discover on my next playthrough—keeps the adventure alive :) Playing on Ultra graphics in 2025, this decade-old game still looks like a visual feast. Is it Red Dead Redemption 2 visually? No, but come on, expecting that would be crazy. And honestly, Tomb Raider’s reviews are already so overwhelmingly positive that even if it had Red Dead’s graphics, it wouldn’t really change much—it’s already in that “top-tier” category where you can’t really go higher. And that’s saying something! If you’re hesitant about playing a game that’s over 10 years old, don’t be. This game will surprise you—in the best way possible. Highly recommended for anyone craving a thrilling, action-packed adventure with a badass heroine who’s as fierce as she is fabulous. Don't want to sound like a creep, but there may or may not have been moments when I stopped playing the game, just so that I could look at her and appreciate her beauty. I am not gonna say whether I looked at her from front or back, so just don't worry about it, okay? You're overthinking. Ready to gear up and dive in? Lara’s waiting—and trust me, she’s worth it!

Not gonna lie, I didn’t expect much going in. Just figured it’d be some generic action game with a famous name slapped on it, but damn… This Tomb Raider hits different. Gameplay wise, it’s tight. Bow combat is satisfying as hell, stealth is smooth, and the whole crafting/upgrading system is simple but makes sense. You’re always getting stronger, but not in a forced RPG kind of way. Exploration? Yeah, it’s mostly linear, but with enough side stuff and tombs to make you wander off the path now and then. Tomb puzzles aren’t super hard, but they’re a nice breather between all the chaos. Visually? Still holds up surprisingly well. The atmosphere is on point, stormy beaches, creepy caves, burning villages, it all just works. Voice acting? Absolutely nailed it. Lara actually sounds like she’s been through hell, and it pulls you in. Would 100% recommend if you're into action-adventures games.

Thank you for this great game, even though it's old I feel like I'm playing a modern game! Great adventure. I'm grateful to you for adding an Arabic translation the game was close to my heart.

This game is really fun ngl. I almost never get bored playing this game. Because it feels like every time I want to relax there is always a problem or enemy that must be fought. At first it feels difficult but after getting used to it, it starts to feel easy and really fun. I really need to continue to the 2nd series

Reviewing (mostly) every game (or DLC) in my library, part 70: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆☆ (8/10 stars) Lara Croft's gritty reboot takes everything you thought you knew about the franchise and reimagines it as a cinematic survival-action game—with a surprising amount of heart. Tomb Raider (2013) is brutal, stylish, and often thrilling, though it’s not without a few growing pains. It stumbles a bit under the weight of its gritty tone and formulaic writing, but the moment-to-moment gameplay, the cinematic presentation, and Lara herself are strong enough to carry it. It’s not quite the thinking adventurer’s game yet—but it lays a bloody, explosive foundation for the future. 🪓 Pros:

Lara’s origin story is compelling. She starts off inexperienced and scared, but you see her evolve into a survivor. It’s messy, bloody, and sometimes hard to watch—but that’s the point. She’s becoming the Tomb Raider.
Satisfying third-person combat. The bow is the standout—quiet, deadly, and stylish—but all weapons feel great. Headshots are crunchy, stealth kills are slick, and upgrades feel meaningful. Later firefights get intense.
Gorgeous environments. The island is a mix of lush jungles, storm-wrecked beaches, ancient ruins, and horrific cult strongholds. It constantly shifts, keeping you engaged visually and spatially.
Strong cinematic flair. Seamless transitions between cutscenes and gameplay, explosive setpieces (climbing a burning tower, parachuting through a forest), and a camera that knows when to get in close. It’s very Uncharted, but with more grime and gore.
Exploration feels good. While the main path is linear, there are tombs, secrets, relics, and documents tucked everywhere. The game rewards poking into corners, and the collectibles actually provide lore that’s worth reading.
Upgradable gear opens up the world. Return to old areas with new tools (like the rope arrow) to reach previously inaccessible spots—adds light Metroidvania flavor.
The optional tombs are fun puzzles. They’re brief but clever, and feel like a spiritual link to the older games. You’ll wish there were more of them.
Excellent sound design. Creaking caverns, distant screams, howling winds—it’s a loud game, but a beautifully designed one. The soundtrack swells at just the right moments, too.
Lara's voice actor. She brings Lara to life with vulnerability, anger, and resolve. It’s one of the best performances in the series.
🩸 Cons:

The tone is inconsistent. Lara is crying over her first kill one second, then gleefully headshotting dozens of dudes in the next. The emotional beats don’t always match the gameplay.
QTE overload. Lots of sudden button prompts, especially in early-game cutscenes. Miss one, and you’ll see Lara die in a very gruesome way. A bit much.
Tomb Raider (2013) is an absolute triumph and one of the best action-adventure games of its generation. This reboot delivers a gritty, emotional origin story for Lara Croft, turning her from an inexperienced archaeologist into the hardened survivor we all know and love. The gameplay is tight and responsive, seamlessly blending exploration, combat, and puzzle-solving. The island setting is beautifully realized, full of hidden secrets and environmental storytelling that rewards curiosity. The cinematic presentation, combined with excellent voice acting from Camilla Luddington, pulls you into Lara’s journey from start to finish. What sets this game apart is its balance it’s both thrilling and grounded, with just enough supernatural mystery to keep the stakes high. Whether you're a longtime fan or new to the series, Tomb Raider (2013) is a must-play that sets a new standard for video game.

Controls can be frustrating at times (keyboard and mouse anyway) but even in 2025, this game looks stunning and holds up well. Triple 4K monitors with all settings maxed, looks better than several current games out there. If you beat the game back when it first came out, it's worth a revisit if you have upgraded hardware since then and are able to max it out at high frame rates.

As a casual gamer and someone completely new to the Tomb Raider series, I found this 2013 reboot surprisingly enjoyable. The story is engaging and kept me hooked throughout, with a nice balance of action, exploration, and emotional moments. Even without any prior knowledge of Lara Croft's legacy, it was easy to follow and appreciate the character's development. Visually, the game still holds up really well for its age. The graphics on low to medium settings are impressive, especially considering it's over a decade old. I played it on a MacBook Air M1 (2020) and got smooth performance at 50+ FPS. Just be aware that the MacBook Air gets noticeably hot since it doesn't have a fan, but performance-wise, it's more than playable. If you're looking for a solid single-player action-adventure game with cinematic storytelling and satisfying gameplay, this one is still worth playing in 2025.

Not a bad start for a new trilogy, but not everything is so good. The plot is not bad, well, compared to the last part, the DLC is a complete piece of crap. But the quality of the game is normal. Online achievements Piece of shit.

At first I was hesitant because it might not worth the money. But I was WRONG. This game offers' awesome thrill, epic cut scenes to gameplay transitions, medium to hard puzzles that can be solved with logic and sharp perception of the surroundings, understantable parkour puzzles, and most of all AWESOME SCENERY(if you know what I mean). For me this is a 10/10 game

Playing it now even though the game was released in 2013, and I'm really enjoying it. The story is quite good. The equipment and skill upgrade system feels a bit too easy, I was able to max it out even before the final chapter. The health and healing mechanics are also a bit too forgiving for an adventure game. But overall, the rest of the game is pretty impressive, especially for something released back in 2013.

Played 12 hours straight the first day, almost finishing it. It was so fun. In normal difficulty, i found the game actually pretty easy (coming from someone who's not a pro-gamer). The upgrades were fast and quick, so you really don't struggle that much. Great story, i really liked the trinkets we would find that helps us immerse in the story, narrated by Lara as well. It wasn't scary, which is good! (maybe a couple parts like the wolf cave entrance..). Nice maps, environments, atmosphere, decor, graphics, it's immersive. The side characters are okay. The guy that I felt the most connected was Roth, I wish we had more interactions or just extra side stories of Lara and her friends before they were on the Endurance. ( SPOILER ALERT :
I didn't expect Roth's death to be in that way, so it hit me! whyyy
)

This game was incredibly fun. I went into it not expecting much especially since last time i heard about Tomb raider was from its mediocre movies but I was honestly blown away. Every step of the journey had me hooked, and what really stood out were the collectibles. They weren’t essential to finishing the game, but discovering them added so much depth. Seeing the story from different perspectives, uncovering bits of history, and diving into the island’s lore made the whole experience feel richer and more immersive. The atmosphere, the exploration, the way the narrative unfolded it all kept me pushing forward. It wasn’t just about surviving or solving puzzles it was about understanding why things were the way they were. I’d recommend this masterpiece to absolutely anyone even my worst enemy just so they can experience the world, the thrill, and the depth this game has to offer. P.S. I played this game instead of studying for my exam... and honestly, no regrets. :] 10/10 game.

lots to do even when the game is finished, choosing between the factions means you can go back and replay with a different alliance giving you three games in one. lots of interesting quirks in this game, lots of things to fight i've played through at least three times now, never gets dull. far harbour could have been more interesting, the murder mystery was a bit silly and not that hard to solve, but still more stuff to explore. top tip - i was fast running out of space on my C drive until i found i the games "properties" you can install on D drive.

Sat on this game and made the mistake of playing on a new pc. No matter the graphics settings, the game absolutely rips my cpu to shreds. 13th gen Intel and 4090 running off m2 ssd. Doesn't matter if I'm at max settings or literally the lowest settings. I think the lack of an FPS cap is the culprit and there seems to be no support for this even among modding community. Got 2 hours in, but spent 3 hours troubleshooting. Waste of my time. Gameplay and story looked interesting. What a bummer.

Still fun. Story is a bit thin and the characters of the HMS Stereotype arent that deep but the island is fun to explore and the gameplay still mostly holds up.
