Tomb Raider: Anniversary

Amazing game, I played it back in 2007 ish time but just revisited it 18 years later, lives up to the hype 100% and definitely worth the money.

5/10 It's unbelievable, that this is a ~20 years old remake of a ~30 years old game! The gameplay itself is great, with lots of platforming and puzzles, and a few fights here and there. There are checkpoints at every other corner, so you don't have to redo too much part, if you misjump and die (which will happen often). The bad thing is, that the controls and camera handling is a bit clunky, which is not obvious on the first few levels, but later on, when things get to start difficult, it really makes your life hard. So much, that I had to give up on the game because of this. Also, the game is DIFFICULT. The difficulty curve is okay, but there are a few boss fights along the way, which are really WTF, and at the Egypt level, I had to check youtube guides several times.

Gameplay is fun, easy, and interactive. The story is fun too. All around fun game.

I have never EVER been more frustrated and annoyed by a game in my life... I thought about quiting this game at least 5 times. First game to ever make me want to throw my pc out the window. Now I truly understand the dudes who throw and break their controller out of anger after losing a game or something. Though I can't say I didn't enjoy it a little bit... generally it's not a bad game... and Lara Croft holds a special place in my heart...

This game is the best game ever. This game cured my depression. Storyline: 10/10 Characters are amazing You beat the game? Get all the rewards- theres always something to do.

Absolutely do not recommend you waste your time on this. Even if you play at a locked 60fps in order to not break the game it still doesn't work properly. Camera and controls are awful and unresponsive. It makes you miss jumps that you should have landed 100%. And don't get me started on the combat, thankfully it doesn't happen very often, but when it does it's the worst thing in the world. Especially some parts where it puts you up against a lot of different enemies but you have no place to dodge them and all you do is hold right click and shoot at whatever the game decided you are gonna aim at. You can't do shit. Maybe if they fixed the controls and unresponsive gameplay it would be better but it would still not fix the fact that some levels just drag on for way to long and you have no way of marking where you have and have not been, so at some point it just becomes a confusing mess.

[b]Game won't start! After very first video, the game crashes![/b] I could not find a working solution on the discussion board! It's sad, because the game itself is certainly good. But for some time now - after a Windows and / or Steam update - this game is apparently simply unplayable, it no longer works, it crashes before you even get to the menu. Someone posted a "solution" on the discussion board, but it doesn't work for other people. It also seems quite complicated to me. (And some of the Windows settings have changed anyway). Therefore, this game is not recommended until further notice... Hopefully this problem will be fixed by Steam or the game publisher. My review & recommendation therefore is: Don't buy this game! Do not buy game before Steam / game developers offers a fix update for it to solve the problem! Thumbs DOWN!!! 👎 (Sorry)

Quite fun, especially if you really enjoy adventure games like I do. also looks miles better than the 2024 "remaster".

With 6 Main line games before this one you would think some improvements would be made on a remaster, you would be wrong. Multiple things were changed in ways one would not describe as enhancing the game, firstly the "game save" feature you know from the previous tomb raider games is absent, replaced with one of the worst checkpoint and save state designs i have every seen. The save game function does not create a "save point" but creates a load point as the last cleared checkpoint, which leads me to the problems with check points, placed in strange spots either right after an enemy spawns or so far after that you have to redo large sections of combat or climbing puzzles. The Core game play of solving puzzles is plagued by visual design that is inconsistent and follows not core principle, the movement lacks the clunky but reliable predictability of the original titles, leading to may frustrating moments when you try a jump 6 times and have six different outcomes. Overall I would not recommend you play this game (unless you like pain) purchase the remaster of the original 3 games to play the first game.

This game is awful. It doesn't tell the player what it wants from them and the systems just don't work sometimes. I don't know what problems are the game's and what problems are the port, but don't waste your time.

Checkpoints are not considered saves. Lost a ton of progress and wasted hours of time.
