I used to love this game, but its like they dont want us to love it.
Romance (?) is not romance. Dull, boring. nothing about you. You cant even care about them because they dont care about you too. For example one of the bachelors just talks about his brother and all of his heart events are full of them. Nothing is about you, usually you are not even on the screen they just talk w each other. There is almost no lore, or meaning. And if u do 10 heart, still nothing. They act like you are a random person. No depth no romance. Feels so empty and boring.
Money system is absolute disaster. I just sold my golden egg which is very rare (even has its own achievement) and i got 250 coin for LARGE GOLDEN EGG. LITERAL GOLD. But they ask you 40.000 coin for auto-petter or auto-hay. Wonderful right?
FISHING. Ive never ever seen worse. I cant even explain it just... its so bad.
Lots of bugs. Some of them makes the game unplayable.
Animations are bad too. I am also game dev and artist and i am sorry to say but ik its not that hard to make watering animation or sleeping. Sleeping animation is same w dying, fun isnt it. U just get hit by had and fall.
This game has so much potential but it feels like target audience is 5 year olds. No depth in dialogues, you dont matter, just do chores and get sleep. At first it was fun because u thinl you can grow but nuh huh.
I really REALLYYY wanted to love romanceable characters and some of them are cutie potatoes but i cant event get close to them. When u can be bf and gf, they just say thanks and if u talk them in daily life they still act like you are a random farmer.
Endgame. Well, after 1 year or one and half, things get so boring. And doesnt makes sense. For example there is an item you can get after getting rich, but it needs a very early game items. Or after a long grind u get keg, to make wine. First u make a juice, then u make a wine with that, 2 steps and DAYYSSSSS. And you sell it for like 700 or so. uhmmm...sure....
I completed all the mines and the prize was 600 gold and 10 explosives WHICH i could craft already. See my point?
You can mine but it gives you nothing, again.
Money reward is credibly low.
Rewards are terrrrrribbbleee. Usually just candy or very little coin.
Nothing to do after some point.
I dont recommend at least before they fix things.
(Game has so much potential and cool features that i love, but no depth. I really hope they change dialogues and some other things, then it will be perf)

I really wanted to love this game. Visually, it's stunning. Easily the best-looking farming sim out there, hands down. The character designs, environments, and overall aesthetic are beautiful. There's also a ton of stuff to do, with the merfolk content adding great longevity, and some genuinely fantastic festivals full of outfits and collectibles.
However, despite multiple attempts to fully dive in, I repeatedly found myself losing interest. This last time, I really gave it a serious push, and initially, I genuinely enjoyed myself. Clearing the ocean and seeing the beach transform was rewarding visually, but then the townsfolk barely reacted. They'd casually remark, "Interesting, the beach is clean now.. cool!" and then immediately go back to treating you like just some random farmer. You can literally become the most successful person in town, and yet the townspeople only drop a couple of generic lines and then completely ignore your accomplishments. It makes your efforts feel completely pointless.
The characters themselves are disappointingly shallow and stuck in Disney-esque scenarios. It's honestly frustrating how juvenile their storylines feel, especially considering most of the player base likely grew up on Harvest Moon and are now adults. One character’s entire plot revolves around a baking contest, and their next four cutscenes obsessively focus only on that. There's nothing meaningful about who they are, why they're in the town, or their motivations; just repetitive, superficial dialogue.
Gameplay-wise, the fishing mechanic is terrible. I absolutely loved fishing in Stardew Valley, but here it felt so broken that I just leveled up to 10 using nets instead. Bug-catching isn't any better; the cone radius feels awkwardly narrow and inaccurate. You’ll clearly be right on top of a bug, but somehow miss entirely, and it just flies away. It makes zero sense and is consistently frustrating.
Combat has potential but suffers badly from hit detection issues. Enemies on new floors often remain asleep and invincible for the first five seconds, then suddenly wake up and attack unpredictably, which makes cave diving feel annoying rather than exciting.
Automation is a bright spot. I really appreciate features like large chests, auto-petters, auto-grabbers, and general quality-of-life improvements. These do enhance the experience, but they aren't enough to overcome the other glaring flaws.
Ultimately, the game still feels like it's stuck in beta. It was so close to becoming one of my favorite games ever, but ended up feeling disappointingly shallow. If I don’t care about the town or its characters, why am I even playing?

This is a mixed review that leans positive. Characters are great, gameplay is fun and interesting, but man, how is it still so terribly bug riddled? I consistently find my animals possessed and floating in the sky. Enemy hitboxes still need a ridiculous amount of work. I really hope this game gets some more bug fixes and care put into QoL.

Coral Island is a captivating and vibrant farming and life simulation game that breathes fresh air into the genre with its strong emphasis on environmental stewardship, community building, and rich storytelling. Developed by Stairway Games, this title invites players to escape to a lush, tropical island where they can cultivate their own farm, interact with diverse and well-developed characters, and embark on an engaging journey of restoration and exploration. The game’s setting—a colorful and ecologically diverse island inspired by real-world tropical environments—stands out as a key strength, featuring coral reefs, dense jungles, and picturesque beaches that create an immersive backdrop for the gameplay. Unlike many farming sims that focus solely on agriculture and town life, Coral Island integrates a meaningful narrative about ocean conservation and sustainability, encouraging players to actively participate in cleaning up and revitalizing the island’s delicate ecosystems.
Gameplay in Coral Island is a satisfying blend of traditional farming mechanics—planting crops, raising animals, fishing, and crafting—with fresh, unique activities such as coral reef restoration and diving expeditions. The farming system is deep yet accessible, offering a wide variety of crops and livestock to manage across different seasons. Players must balance their time and resources carefully, as they juggle farming duties alongside social interactions, quests, and environmental projects. The relationship-building component is robust, with a diverse cast of island residents, each with their own distinct personalities, backstories, and evolving story arcs. This social depth enriches the experience, making the community feel alive and dynamic, while romance options add a personal touch to the player’s journey.
Visually, Coral Island is a stunning showcase of vibrant art and attention to detail. The bright, cheerful palette and lovingly crafted environments evoke a strong sense of place and tranquility. The underwater exploration sequences are particularly noteworthy, offering a beautifully rendered glimpse into the rich marine life that the game seeks to protect. The soundtrack complements the visuals perfectly, featuring relaxing, tropical-inspired melodies that enhance the laid-back yet purposeful atmosphere of island life. The game’s interface is clean and intuitive, striking a good balance between depth and accessibility, allowing players to dive into complex systems without feeling overwhelmed.
One of the game’s most commendable features is its commitment to environmental themes, which are thoughtfully woven into gameplay and story. Players don’t just farm and socialize—they actively contribute to the island’s ecological health through coral restoration projects, beach cleanups, and sustainable farming practices. This adds an educational layer without feeling preachy, inspiring players to think about real-world environmental issues through engaging gameplay. Moreover, the procedural events and changing weather systems add variety and realism, ensuring that each day on the island brings new challenges and opportunities.
While Coral Island excels in many areas, it is still evolving, and some players may encounter minor bugs or desire deeper endgame content as the title continues to develop. The pacing, which balances relaxing farming with more involved quests and restoration efforts, might not suit everyone—those looking for purely fast-paced action may find it slower, but for fans of thoughtful, immersive sims, this pace is a feature rather than a flaw.
In conclusion, Coral Island is a beautifully crafted and heartfelt farming simulation that stands out for its rich environmental message, detailed world-building, and engaging character interactions. It offers a refreshing twist on the genre by blending classic farming and life sim elements with a meaningful ecological narrative and immersive exploration. For players seeking a relaxing yet purposeful gaming experience that celebrates community, nature, and personal growth, Coral Island provides an enchanting escape to a world where every action helps nurture both the land and the relationships that thrive upon it.

i loveee this game so much. probably my favorite of the farming sims I've played, which is why it's SO ANNOYING that the devs still can't seem to sort out the bugs or flesh out the content more. the environment is great, i didn't even mind repeatedly cleaning the water for hours on end. However, the character interactions and story line need more work. Can't recommend other people to spend their money on this until the developers clean the game up, which i really hope they do.

At this point i have played a little over 150 hours and i am still obsessed with this game. i love stardew but i think this farm simulation is, in my opinion, going to be much better. this game already has so many different quests and challenges, offerings, and the need to grow on land crops to make underwater crops to grow. its so much fun and i am still trying to finish this offerings and just unlocked more things. i can not wait to see all of the things that are coming out with the next update (hopefully soon?) and future ones.

36 hours in to this game after owning it for 3 days I can safely say 10/10. Definitely a farm/quest/grind kind of game I would say its almost like animal crossing for adults since you can have a romance life and own animals. I recommend this game to anyone who loves a great farm/life game.

I had high expectations for this game, but after buying it and finding out it was not even finished had WIP'S everywhere and they told people it was a finished game pay 30$ for it. now they make everyone wait 1yr between updates that arent even worth it or should have been in the game before they released it. and honestly I love early access games when they companies are HONEST about it and consistently update their game.

I have been searching for years for a decent farming/life sim to succeed Stardew Valley and I think I've finally found it. Up until now, most games lost my interest or run out of content quickly, but this one really seems to have it all and then some. There is so much content to explore, tons of townsfolk (and cute animals) to get to know, mines to explore, an ocean floor to clean up and explore, many pets that you can adopt (you can have multiple pets at a time now too). The game is no longer in Early Access, but they still release major updates and have big plans for more (multiplayer, children growing up, etc.). Definitely a very full game to play now, with lots to look forward to.

This game is a gorgeous lovechild of Stardew Valley & Animal Crossing. Every time I go somewhere, I'm blown away by the beauty. The map is large & seamless with the different areas, there's a ton of stuff to do, a vast amount of NPCs, characters have "human" aspects like stretch marks and pudge, interactions are highly variable & cute, and the story is both relatable & charming. If you like Stardew Valley, you'll LOVE this game.

I put off buying it for a long time, but last year I bought it – and I definitely don’t regret it. This game is a little gem. ✨
Since it was in early access, there have been so many updates and a huge number of new things added. There’s an endless amount of things to do and just when you think you’ve finished the story… well, you haven’t! A whole new world opens up to you and gives you dozens and dozens more hours to play.
The biggest highlight of this game is the graphics. They’re cute, incredibly cute. The characters are also shown in a ‘Disney-style’ or ‘manga-style’ drawing in some part of the game, which I think adds a lot of charm to the game.
I honestly wouldn’t change a thing about this game. As someone who loved Stardew Valley so much, I see this as a prettier version (in my opinion), a bit more technically developed, with some aspects of the game made easier.
I loved spending all those hours playing it and I’m sure I’ll dive back in when the next big update comes out!

I have played this game since Alpha and I can honestly say it is one of my favorite titles. The fact that this game is still not complete and there is still more to come is so exciting! I love the social elements, the story line, and there is so much to do! You can customize nearly everything, and there is always one more thing to do. If you love Stardew Valley, Harvest Moon, ETC. you will LOVE Coral Island!

The moment I saw the trailer a few years back, I couldn't take my eyes off of it. When I finally got the game a month or two after its release, I was immediately hooked.
Players have their own perception for what a good farming simulator is for them, but this one captured my heart and thus is my favorite out of all. The game is rich in story unlike most farming simulators I've played, and it's obvious how this game was made with a lot of love.
Here are the specifics of what I like about the game. I'll also be putting a few cons that could be improved in the future, should the devs choose to.
Pros
- Equal amount of stories, interactions, and game play. I think what made me so burnt out with Stardew was the fact that it was so grindy, but I understand that it was really designed like that. This is more based on my preference. I love that I have time to interact with the characters and know more about their rich lores, as well as the island's, while also having the time to complete tasks and do other stuff for my farm. Never felt pressured in this game.
- In connection with the previous pro, the tasks in this game aren't difficult BUT it'll take up most of your time as a lot tasks, like gathering materials, can be quite time-consuming, and most of your builds need items that you can't easily buy from the stores.
- Characters are diverse, and each of them have their own unique story. I love the cut-scenes because they feel so personal, though it's a little awkward for a farmer who's literally a stranger to be able to witness it lmao.
- I LOVE THE NEW UI. It tells me who's birthday it is, if there are new cut-scenes, and it's overall just so cute and a big leap from the previous UI.
- This game has the prettiest environment. Unrealistic, so to speak, especially for a struggling town if this was real life, but the interiors of ALL houses are so carefully decorated, and the all the other places just feel so alive. It gives me some sort of an escape from the ugly aah world I live in.
- I love the conveyor belt/auto chest. You don't know how helpful that thing is.
Cons
- Foraging and mining are a little bit underwhelming. I'd need a lot of essences or bars for different things, but I an only gather so much so I'll only ever get a few at a time.
- A little bit of bugs here and there, but I've been voicing them out in the official Discord server and the devs are very accommodating.
- I wish there were a few changes in the cut scenes where they involve dialogues about the connection between the player and the character. While I'm invested in their lores, I think it's kinda sad that the player is only ever a witness to their, uh, problems. Or like helps them go through this and that.
- In relation to that, please make more dialogues for characters as they increase hearts.
- The concept of making seeds first AND needing to ship 50 of the sea crops each are, imo, unnecessary. I just don't see the point of it.
Give this game a try! And for the devs, thank you for creating this masterpiece and pls make more dialogues since that is where Coral Island, for me, is known for.

I absolutely love this game so far! The graphics are adorable, the characters are charming, and the story is really interesting! My only wish is that there was better and more in depth character customization, such as more hairstyles, eye types, body types, and face types. I just feel like I can't really immerse myself when the character looks nothing like me. Other less important notes (just stuff that I think would be cool to have in the game for funzies) maybe like CG's with the dateable characters and maybe some for the main storyline? Also more merfolk options to romance cause I am OBSESSED with their lore and story!!!

Fun game and a lot more polished than a lot of other farming games that arent stardew valley, but its a bit grindy sometimes, ESPECIALLY when you get to the ocean. After I unlocked an area that you get to in diving I thought I was finally through with the grind, just to find out you have to keep grinding the same boring minigame for another 10 hours at least.
Everything else is done pretty well and is pretty fun and steady with gameplay, but the area where you get to diving just makes the game feel like it comes to a screeching halt.
Reccomend but be careful not to get burnt out in that part of the game.

Game does not properly work, will crash constantly once it reaches loading screen. i suggest, to be cautious as i bought this game and it has been acting this way since day one...will not be buying anymore games from this again for if this one crashes don't know if others will. Was really looking forward to playing it but sadly it just is not meant to be. Hope the bugs get fixed to stop it from crashing.

I've started a few different runs of Coral Island, and every time, it ends up losing its appeal pretty quickly. Even with steady updates, the game still feels incomplete. I respect that it's a labor of love and that the devs are working hard, but it’s frustrating to see features like multiplayer added before the core game play feels solid.
The character customization has some nice elements, but most of the clothing options are awkward and poorly fitted. Romance in the game also feels dull and surface-level, with little payoff or emotional depth. The combat is also boring and doesn't provide any real challenge. There’s no real tension or variety, and it just feels like something you go through the motions with.
The world looks great, and the story is fine, but overall, the game still feels kind of empty. It’s missing the depth and polish that would make it truly engaging.
Every time there's an update, I get hopeful and re-download it, only to feel bored again fairly quickly. At this point, I don’t plan to revisit it until it’s out of early access. I’d love to play the finished version someday, but for now, it just feels like a letdown. Despite sinking a lot of hours into this game already, I really can't recommend it in its current state.

The characters, story, and setting are lovely, but the gameplay can be quite tedious and even frustrating. The currency system and drop rate is not very rewarding in my personal opinion, and makes accumulating money difficult, especially when almost everything has a cost, and the cost can be incredibly high (tool upgrades, tools and machines that make things like cooking or processing materials possible, etc.). The cost of cosmetics and aesthetic upgrades/changes is also quite high. All-in-all it's enjoyable to a degree but I personally find it hard to truly relax and enjoy playing when it feels like the rewards are so sparse and you really have to grind to get the kinds of things you want or need. Compared to other games with the same concept, I find this one less rewarding in terms of the currency system and drop rates, which becomes a reason not to play it. It's a shame because I'd love to play more consistently for more of the characters and story, I just find it hard to do so when it feels like I have to constantly grind in order to achieve very basic things.

The game itself looks beautiful in such a lovely, relaxing setting based on Indonesian landscape. And I've really enjoyed getting to build relationships with the NPCs and follow their storylines. But I have to admit, this game is such a grind. I've continued to play out of sheer stubbornness and desire to complete everything rather than because it's fun. I am not used to games where you break the same rocks in a dungeon over and over for 40 floors with the hope of one randomly being the item you need and whether its rocks or trash, that's %50 of the game. If that type of game play does not bother you, then this is perfect for you! For me, it's been repetitive and frustrating but I've been committed for so long, that I'm seeing this one through.

This game is essentially a better version of Stardew Valley. You have a farm, grow crops, meet villagers, increase relationships, etc. It is better because there is more content and there is a truly diverse set of villagers. It also looks beautiful.
