A Hat in Time + DLC- Playtime: 46.1 hours (may be a bit inflated by afk time, but the game does have alot of content)
Hat in time is a great 3d platformer, full of all the fun and charm you'd want in this type a game, with the amount of rough edges you might expect from a new indie game studio making this type of game.
Gameplay - The game is overall really good. The base movement feels really nice and it has alot of room for skill expression in the movement without making the game too complicated for new players. It's probably one of the best 3D platformers out there (easily beating out the banjo games tbh) it just has a couple more annoying things that are a bit frustrating. There are sections of the game that feel really freeing and make you feel as if you can do anything, which makes it kinda suck when the game randomly decides you can't do that actually by either putting up invisible walls in very climbable looking spots, putting death zones where you wouldn't expect them to be and making a surface randomly very slippery. These things are rather minor annoyances in the grand scheme of things, it just feels kinda bad. The hat powers you get aren't the most interesting imo, they mostly serve a purpose of enabling certain mechanics at certain times, the dweller mask being the only one that really opens up interesting gameplay, but only being used when they want to do that kind of gameplay. I find myself complaing a bit more than you'd expect for me liking this game, but there's not much to say about what is good in a 3D platformer, it's just good movement and good vibes.
Aesthetics - This game frankly looks amazing and really does good with making the goofy fun vibes. Lots of decent jokes and vibrant atmosphere. The story serves the game well, as it's not too complicated but makes things more fun.
Seal the Deal DLC - Here's the part where I get a little pissy. The other DLCs are just free new worlds they added to the game that are just more of the same fun stuff, but Seal the Deal is a challenge mode for the game. It takes all the content already in the game and makes it harder by putting different challenging missions and changing things in the level. This is mostly fun, but some of the last few challenges are EXTREMELY grating. There are a couple challenges that are really annoying cuz they take way to long to do, and they take way too long to get to the hard parts. Defeating these challenges are really hard cuz they're pretty difficult challenges, but you also have to get past what is essentially an unskipable cutscene of you doing the very easy part of the challenge everytime. The final boss rush mission and Cruisin' for a Brusin' are the ones I'm talking about in particular. The first 2 bosses in the boss rush are really easy, but you have to beat them every time to get to the last 2, and if you die 3 times you have to start it all over. The extra challenges make it even more annoying and it's just really annoying and takes forever. Crusin' for a Brusin is similar, in that it's really slow at the start, and you need to have an extreme level of familiarity with the mission in order to complete the challenge missions of this level. Everytime you mess up you have to do the really easy part for a long time again. I eventually just stopped trying with these levels, they're just really annoying, and every moment I tried doing them I was just thinking of how much more fun I would be having if I just sarted playing a different game.
All in all, play A Hat in Time, it's a really good time, just don't do true 110% completion (all stuff + Seal the Deal), only go for 100% and have whatever fun you can squeeze out of Seal the Deal without it being annoying.
