Frog Detective 1: The Haunted Island

My friends and I voice acted each character over discord and gave every one a different accent. 10/10 can't wait to do it for the sequels.

[H1]It's funny until you realize the joke is the whole game.[/H1] This one came recommended after I finished Duck Detective, and at a glance, it does look like a perfect fit: cute detective? Check. Weird little case? Check. Light-hearted visuals and animal banter? Check. But sadly, it didn’t deliver the mystery or charm I’d hoped for. Let’s be clear: Frog Detective is more of a quirky visual novel than a mystery or puzzle game. The entire experience is incredibly minimalistic, and gameplay-wise, there’s not much beyond walking, clicking, and listening to sarcastic (and sometimes funny) dialogue. It's short: under 40 minutes for a full run and incredibly easy. If the humor doesn’t land for you, there’s almost nothing left to enjoy. A couple jokes did earn a smile, but most of the time I found myself echoing one of the game’s own achievement descriptions: “When will this game end?” I wanted to like it. Really. It’s got that “wholesome indie humor” vibe going on, and there’s definitely an audience for it. But as someone coming fresh off the Duck Detective high, this one just felt flat. No real puzzles, no intrigue, and far too little content for the price. It’s a good joke, but only once. Skip it unless you’re deeply into minimalist, tongue-in-cheek storytelling. I'm not really sure what to think tbh x) I did enjoy it but only because the conversations were funny. Other than that, it had no challenge or puzzles. Just a funny stupid, very short straightforward game to play if you just have nothing else to do and want to turn of the brain a bit. I will recommended it because it's not bad....but it's not like I would go to my friends and be like "yes, this the game!".

A cute and fun little game. Frog Detective isn't anything challenging, more like a visual novel but it you want a relaxing game with no heavy story lines that can be finished in roughly an hour then I'd recommend this game!

Not a game for me. It feels more like a visual story than anything else. There is no actual game play, puzzle or plot. For me it felt like playing a game intended for young children.

Get the bundle of all 3 games bc this one's really short, preferably on discount. Its nice and humorous, but its 1 hour of gameplay for like $5. The other three are mostly the same (except 3 that one is definitely the best in the series) but altogether its a nice series. Definitely get ready to voice act bc this game it perfect for that.

Playing this game felt like drowning in mayonnaise while bad 90's rock plays on overhead speakers Developer has potential though so I'll go play the second one and we'll see

A moving narrative, some twists and turns, plot lines you would never expect and a frog with the determination and tragic backstory needed to solve the case....... peak fiction

Frog Detective is the best and a hidden gem

Mo didn't break-dance, which upsets me slightly... I can't hate the game tho. It's silly.

It's like Knives Out but on acid. Also soundtrack is phenomenal. The only downside to this game is the lack of achievement for looking at every small critter through a magnifying glass. I can't imagine how they could have missed it, it was literally on the surface (pun intended). Because of that, I have to rate this masterpiece 99/100.
