Reviewing (mostly) every game (or DLC) in my library, part 184:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆☆ (8/10)
The Amorous Adventures of Bold Sir Hans Capon is a charming, surprisingly layered side story that adds depth, levity, and some wonderfully awkward humanity to the world of Kingdom Come: Deliverance. More than just a romantic comedy in chainmail, this DLC expands on one of the game’s most entertaining side characters and gives Henry a welcome break from the weight of civil war, heresy, and noble politics.
💘 Pros:

Hans Capon gets the spotlight—and shines! Sir Hans was already a fan-favorite in the base game, and this DLC leans into everything that made him memorable: his arrogance, his wit, his hidden vulnerability. Watching him fumble his way through courtship—half-earnest, half-tragic—is oddly endearing. You get to see him not as a spoiled noble, but as a young man desperate to be seen and loved.

A more lighthearted tone (without breaking immersion). Amorous Adventures isn’t slapstick—it’s sincere. While it's full of comedic moments (some involving herbal potions, duels, disguises, and midnight grave-digging), it never feels out of place in KCD’s world. The humor is grounded in character and situation, and it offers a refreshing change of pace from the game’s heavier themes.

Multi-part questline with variety. This DLC offers a full quest chain with multiple stages, each bringing different kinds of gameplay: persuasion, combat, stealth, even minor alchemy and investigation. Whether you’re helping Hans win over his lady, dueling suitors, or navigating the consequences of his latest impulsive decision, the structure is more engaging than a one-note side quest.

Meaningful character interactions. This isn't just Hans' story; it's also Henry’s. The DLC deepens their friendship, with heartfelt banter, disagreements, and a growing sense of mutual respect. It reinforces the bond between noble and commoner, and shows how far both have come since Skalitz. There's real charm in watching Henry become the “responsible one” between them.

Voice acting and writing are consistently strong. The performances are excellent—Hans’ delivery is particularly expressive and nuanced, often balancing humor with insecurity. The dialogue is sharp, natural, and period-appropriate, capturing the awkwardness of love in a world of social rules and rigid class divides.

❤️🩹 Cons:

Mostly linear with limited player impact. Despite some branching dialogue, the overall structure is fairly rigid. You’re guiding Hans toward a specific outcome, and while there are different ways to approach each step, you’re ultimately along for the ride. If you're looking for heavy player-driven consequences, this won’t scratch that itch.

Shorter than expected. The questline is enjoyable but compact. Expect 3 to 4 hours, depending on how thoroughly you explore side elements. For some, the content might feel light, especially if bought separately rather than as part of the Royal Edition.

Humor might not land for everyone. While the DLC stays true to KCD’s grounded tone, its slightly more comedic edge might not work for every player. If you preferred the serious, brutal aspects of the main story, Hans’ bumbling misadventures may feel like a tonal detour.
