After I finished Red Dead Redemption 2, I thought I’d never cry at a video game again — but man, this game proved me wrong... Before I started playing the Persona games, I wasn’t into turn-based games at all. When I heard that games like Final Fantasy were turn-based, I was immediately turned off. But after giving Persona a try, I got completely hooked on the genre (which I never thought would happen). You might find this game repetitive at first, but thanks to its addictive game mechanics and gripping story, it more than makes up for it — not to mention its art direction. Boy, do I love me a gorgeous art style. I swear, this game makes me feel like I’m time-traveling — time just flies when I’m playing it and I don’t realize what day of the week it is. And the crazy part? This isn’t even the best Persona game! Like every Persona game, it has an excellent soundtrack — to no one’s surprise. Or should I say, to no one’s “Last Surprise”? Haha, get it? Yeah, I know that doesn’t make sense grammatically. It was just the perfect moment to pull a Shuji Ikutsuki… -_- People aren’t exaggerating when they say this game has impacted their lives, The story is just that good. It's one of those games where you wish you could forget it to reexperience it again. I can definitely see myself coming back to this game again. It’s an amazing experience, and I highly recommend it and especially to anyone looking to get into turn-based games for the first time (you might just end up like me).

P3 will always have a very special place in my heart, and while this remake could never be expected to fully replicate the original's grit and rough edges that made it so iconic, it still does a great job at recreating it with some fresh ideas and modern gameplay sensibilities. It's undeniably a love letter to P3 and for that it should be celebrated.

The only reason to hate this game/series is how much the milk their players. Would recommend you play this game without a doubt, but wait for sales for DLC (episode aigis). Hell, wait for a sale for the base game too. Its not worth that price and shame on Atlus/Sega for running what was essentially a money grab with what was promised/what was given. Preordered the 100$ premium edition back when it first opened, being a huge persona fan and this being one of the two I had never experienced, and watching all the stuff about it on YouTube and whatnot I was crazy excited for this. When the game got closer to coming out and they finally admitted that, no even though you spent 100$ you would need to spend another 40$ for the ONLY dlc for this game, but you'll get a whole bunch of worthless costumes and ruin the experience personas from past games, it was a slap in the face. This game is phenomenal. They did a great job with the remaster. The art style, the music, the npcs, the story. Its great. BUT, its a remaster. Its not a new persona game, so why they felt the need to lock the ONLY playable DLC behind ANOTHER paywall is ridiculous. To openly charge 70$, and the other editions being 80$ for a soundtrack and art book (all available online if you want it), and 100$, with nothing more than maybe a total of 15 (i didn't count but you get the picture) extra personas is just so sad. Atlus AND Sega know that people love these games, and knew that (myself included) most people would be dumb enough to assume "DLC PACK" would mean Episode Aigis AND the bonus personas. It has genuinely ruined my stance on them as a company, not so much to where ill never play anything from them or anything that dramatic, but more that i feel they are taking a bad step in the wrong direction with pricing/how they release their content... and i hope with P4R they dont make the same mistakes they made in this game (luckily i dont remember OG p4 having playable DLC so hopefully it'll be a remaster of the ages), at the very least, fans should be VERY WARY of preorders and should wait to see EXACTLY what content is put in their most expensive editions, as in this economy of gaming, you never know what they might pull in regards to what they plan to put in them. I know i'm late writing this review, maybe i already wrote one when the game dropped i really don't remember, and i know the complaints about the money grab and how scummy their tactics were have already come and gone. But i wanted to be sure to write this out just to remind any/everyone of what they pulled and to be cautious. Note- I do have a job and don't really have crazy time to constantly check for sales, but i have YET to buy episode aigis on the simple fact that its not worth the price they are asking from what i've seen. But everytime i check its STILL so expensive and annoys me every time.

As much as I pretend to like Persona 3, I have to admit it falls short in just about every way. It's almost a shame that there are some super convenient quality of life features and neat improvements to the Persona formula, as hating the game would be more satisfying than being disappointed with its wasted potential. + The combat is only 1 or 2 steps down from P5, so it's still good + The animations look great when they're trying to + The menus are unusually responsive, despite how good they also look / Maybe the best music in the series, except for the Tartarus exploration ones - they are boring for way too long. There's a couple other irritating ones that play constantly. - It's too expensive, and the dlc (especially if it's as bad as everyone says) should've been $0 instead of $35. - My god, the social links are horrible. They've never been great, but I think every single one was aggravating and lifeless. - Interactions with party members are the weakest in the series by a long shot. They are repetitive and robotic on a level I have never seen before. Everyone is a generic placeholder for 98% of their lines. - P3 is where the worst tropes from the other games came from: the beach episode, the hot springs, the girl who can't cook, and all the obligatory, pervy anime filler is here! Not even one crumb of humor or creativity exists in any of these. Even when it's just regular filler, it's a shameful waste of time. - Most people seem to think that Tartarus sucks, and I have to agree. There are a few good fights, but running around randomized empty mazes fighting the same enemies gets boring at hour 5 of like 50. It's a rare instance where I had to multitask to get through it. - As for story, there isn't one until it's almost over. The few things that happen are surprisingly decent, though.

Persona 3 FES with worse art direction, worse animations, less choices to flesh out the self-insert protag as a self-insert (Can't choose either of the clubs, locked to 1-handed swords) and other little things left out that make it feel like a really pretty demake of Persona 3 Also, if we were going to get a "Definitive" version of Persona 3, IE: the only reason you would pay 70 dollars for it, the fact there's no FEMC and a paid dlc for the Answer is frankly insane. Also this is game is like, stupid easy even on the hardest difficulty. The new events at their best flesh out the characters and at their worst completely butcher them, Akihiko in this game is not the same guy from Persona 3 FES, he's the goddamn protein fiend from the Q games and that's sad.

Persona 3 Reload was a game i had been waiting to release for a long time, in fact i'd been wanting a remake/re-release of P3 for years, so when this released i was very happy It took me longer than i wanted to actually complete the game due to IRL reasons, but I have since found time to finish the game and the Episode Aigis DLC. The game-play is exactly what you'd expect from a turn-based JRPG with some new additions from the original P3 like the Shift mechanic. (If you played Persona 5 its similar to the Baton Pass) as well as Theurgy moves that your characters can use, The music in the game is amazing and sees the return of Lotus Juice (who does lyrics for persona songs throughout the persona franchise) and also reworks some of the original songs from P3. The story of the game is heavy hitting and even though i was aware of the entire plot, it still didn't stop me from feeling emotional. It was also well written with some additions that can allow you to learn more about the characters in your party by hanging out with them during the free time the game gives you. Episode Aigis was pretty much the exact same experience as The Answer from Persona 3 FES, but i still enjoyed it heavily, and i would suggest that you ignore the negative reviews on the DLC as people dont seem to understand that P3 didn't come with The Answer and they would have had to spend more money to get it by buying P3 FES (AKA buying an entirely new game just to get access to it) All in all i would easily give the game a solid 10/10 and it would have been my GotY in 2024 if not for Metaphor releasing in 2024 as well

I tried so hard to get into this game. The art is beautiful. The mystery of the dark hour is super intriguing. I would love to get to know the characters. But every single time I hit the dungeon crawling part of the game for the first time I just bounce of from sheer boredom. The dungeons design is the most uninspired thing I've ever seen. Literally the same room copied and pasted over and over again for hours. On top of that the combat is absolutely brain dead. After doing this for an hour nonstop without any engaging content whatsoever I just gave up. Maybe there is a great game hidden in here but I'm simply not willing to waste hours of my life to get to it.
I finally get why people love Persona 3 so much. Here are my thoughts...
Rebuilt entirely in Unreal Engine, Persona 3 Reload shines with a stunning new light. If you're already familiar with the series, you'll feel right at home. The artistic style remains top-notch, the music is excellent, and the story retains the dark, mysterious tone that has always defined the original. That said, it's worth noting that this remake doesn't quite reach the gameplay depth of Persona 5, which still stands as the pinnacle of refined mechanics in the franchise. While Reload is beautifully crafted, it carries some of the weight of its original era, and at times, that becomes apparent. Veteran players will likely find normal difficulty manageable. The core system remains the same: fight, progress, and fuse Personae to create stronger ones. One notable change is how you acquire new Personae. The traditional Shadow capturing is gone—instead, after battles finished with an All-Out Attack (a combined team assault on stunned enemies), you'll be presented with a card selection system. Each card grants different rewards: new Personae, more EXP, gold, or other bonuses. Experienced players will have a great time experimenting with tarot combinations, leading to satisfying farming sessions. However, a downside worth mentioning is the repetitiveness of the Tower floors. In this game, the Tower replaces Persona 5’s Mementos—but unlike Mementos, it’s not optional. It’s directly tied to the story progression: key story events unlock new floors. The issue is that these areas look and feel very similar, with only minor changes in color and style, which can become monotonous over time. It’s a small flaw, but one that doesn’t significantly detract from the overall experience. The “Confidants” (known here as Social Links) also return. The main issue? There are simply too many to max out in a single playthrough without using a guide. That said, they remain engaging and well-written, even if less fleshed out than in later entries in the series. In short, Persona 3 Reload is a must-play —especially for fans of the franchise. It’s an atmospheric, captivating, and polished remake that honors the original while adding modern flair. Oh, and a fair warning: the soundtrack will get stuck in your head… and you’ll love it! =D

TL;DR - Be patient, and you are in for a treat of a story that you may find unforgettable once you finish the game :) My favourite game of all time. Would not trade this experience for anything in this life. There is some profound storytelling at play that really surprises you at many points along the way. All I ask to anyone playing this is to be patient and let the game's writing take you to where it wants to go. You won't be disappointed if you approach it with an unassuming perspective. This game has so much to tell you about life itself through its story (both main and social links) which explores death and the effects it can have on people. The characters and their voice acting (EN) are done very well, carrying such flair at parts and graceful in others. I cant pick any one best character because they were all written with a good sense of depth (assuming you go through the social links and linked episodes carefully. If you miss any, just look them up online. You wont be disappointed) The gameplay and combat is flashy, and can get repetitive to those who may not play very many JRPGs - But it was fun for me who took extra time to grind out levels (Note: Im a completionist. Grinding levels is totally unnecessary if you want to approach the game casually. Just climb to the highest possible floor each time and you'll be just fine) I barely felt the length of time playing this game because there's so much going on that its always keeping you occupied. No game ive played has done this in the past 100% of the time.

8 Peak Game [First Persona Game] Main Issues:1:Game and boss fights feel to easy on HARD mode [didn't want to play on Merciless since it was my first Persona game this might help] the ease made the main dungeon feel bloated and more of a chore ruining the flow for me at times boring me. 2:The start of the game is very overwhelming their is many things to do like raising your stats and talking to people i felt like i didnt have enough time for everything THIS DID NOT HAPPEN ALL GAME [the game gives you plenty of time just felt like alot of pressure] happy i continued [just first time with a calendar system]. Things i liked: The music is amazing it had a great vibe all game would just sit in the school vibing was great in many scenes especially the ending, the social links where great i like most of them and enjoyed the dialogue for a few in particulate and their themes , THE ENDING was great i feel games are defined by the ending more so than the way they start and the middle the ending is the defining moment for me , and this game lands one of the best for sure the theme is phenomenal and its message for life is perfect. 8/10 PEAK MUST PLAY

For the first time i bought a game without any regret and coercion. Persona 3 Reload is a game that really sticks in my heart, its rich story, full of sadness and laughter makes me feel like this game is really worth playing. When i finished this game, it made me cry like why did the game have to end even though it can be played again from the beginning.

Great game, bad remake. Compared to FES, here are some downgrades: - Overall tone shift (main menu is a good example) - In-game lighting is worse - DLC is sold separately (+ balance is completely ruined from what I've heard) - No FeMC (definitive remake my ass) - Tartarus battle backgrounds are much less creative/interesting - Voice actor casting is worse (Fuuka, Shinji and Ikutsuki are especially rough) - Script changes feel forced and cringe (+ is based off of P3 Portable's inferior script for some reason) - Gameplay is almost a complete copy+paste of P5's, lacking almost all of the unique things found in original P3's systems - Re-recorded soundtrack has no soul and in many cases just sounds worse - Cutscenes are probably the biggest downgrade. Many animated ones have been switched to be ingame and almost all of them are inferior to the ones in FES Despite my negative review though, I actually do recommend playing this, but only if you've already played FES because this is just barely Persona 3

What an experience… This is my first time playing Persona games. And honestly this game has changed my view on life & helped me when i’m in my low point. It taught me so much about life & death. And it taught me how precious time, friendship & bond is. The gameplay is fun, the soundtracks is so good that i keep listening to it everyday. And the story is fantastic, memorable & emotional. I will never forget the time i spent here with the SEES members & everyone else Even though i’m late to the party, i’m grateful i have discovered & played this masterpiece

I give this game a rank C- (55-60%) Average game - only if you have nothing else to do. See my profile for more details about my reviews. If you want a very insightful take on the Persona series from someone who knows it a lot, move along. This is the review from a casual like me, who always heard about Megami Tensei (then Shin Megami Tensei) when I was teen, then Persona, and always wondered what it was. Lots of people rave about it, whether they are from Japan or from other countries, and SMT/Persona is a big series with its fans like Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Xeno, etc. So I had to try. But that's a C- for me. It might not have been the best idea, some will say, but I tried Persona for the first time with this one, Persona 3, and despite my stubborn efforts (12 hours!!), I can not reasonably continue. I still think this game is not too bad, just okay, but it depends a lot on who you are. If you are a tired dad like me seeking for the next unique and profoundly fascinating game, Persona 3 will not do it for you. If you are a younger gamer (15-25) this game might be totally awesome. Basically Persona 3 mixes elements of JRPG (turn by turn combats, summons to do all kinds of magic, dungeons to explore, dialogues, party to manage etc), with some Visual Novel mecanisms, Anime art style, groovy music, slight Dating Sim features, Pokemon mentality (collect them all), etc. That sounds great on paper!... problem is, the way it is done is just not for me. While I think Final Fantasy series has been mediocre for a long time now (since the 10), I still think they do a better job than this at making things fun, engaging, varied, etc. Here, the combats are very repetitive, the dungeon is utterly boring - and yes, you read that right: dungeon, singular. Procedurally generated dungeon, orthogonal as all hell (imagine New York streets style), same boring enemies, same summons to call... it is incredibly dull. I can not see myself doing that for 100 hours. Yes the idea to collect the summons is a bit exciting, especially to level them up, to fuse them to get new ones, etc... but maybe when you are 15 with all the time in the world? And then the story and world: it screams 'awkward Otaku' every minute. Play a dull teen with the same charisma as an oyster doing the same damn thing everyday: not exploring and adventuring in a fantasy world, no, that would be too exciting! no, you are a Japanese teen in a boring suburb of Tokyo, waking up everyday, brush your teeth, get dressed, go to school, have dull conversations with angsty teenagers, flirt with chicks, wear your social mask to talk with pals, then study at the library or do a part time job in a cafe or play a mmorpg on your computer or at the arcade center, eat some ramen in a shopping mall... so, yeah, a second life of sort. When I was 14 I might have loved that? and sure enough, Shenmue gave me that feeling. But now? I just can't take it. Day after the day the dates get crossed out on the calendar (April 6th, April 7th, April 8th...) and I read somewhere that the game gets better after a year? Not sure if it was a joke, but looking at the pace I can totally believe that! The story? No idea, it just feels non sensical, boring otaku junk of a teenage boy fighting monsters in a dystopian dreamworld version of Tokyo, summoning weird and quirky creatures mixing odd fantasy and bondage fanatism... oh, and to summon them, you need to shoot yourself in the head. Yup, no idea why. Everything feels just so random that if it was just for the story, I would give it a 3/10. But the art style is really cool, the atmosphere is not too bad, the dialogues are incredibly, incredibly renewed (imagine: each character will tell you something different EVERY single day! that's nuts), the music tracks are really cool and funky... so yeah, overall, it's a 56%, it's not bad, just not for me anymore - and even then, when I was teen, I loved varied gameplay and varied level design, which is not the case here, so even then it's doubtful I would have enjoyed it. Maybe it's just not for me! I will go on and try the 4 and 5 and Metaphor, though. THE GAME IS NOT BAD but its certainly not worth 70 dollars. I'm not even sure if its worth 50 dollars, i'm about 80 hours into the game and i'm in the month of October. Before another 20 im pretty sure the game will be over and im starting to think if i just paid an extra 50 dollars for a graphical update compared to P3: Portable. Now granted I am biased as P5: Royal was my first persona game so most of my disapproval from this game will be based off of 5. Granted it is a 2006(?) game that got remade to appease a modern audience graphics wise... HOWEVER I do not believe it is worth 70 smackaroos just for a graphics upgrade. I already do not believe in purchasing over 60 dollars for one game but if its gonna be worth that much at least make it worth my time, i swear P5R is 10 dollars less and so far what im seeing it has a WAY better story than this, I would not have minded to pay 60 dollars for that. However if the ending is to my satisfaction maybe I will revise my review but until then I will still be sulking over that I paid 70 dollars for this game instead of waiting for the summer sale. Don't get me started on the price point for a DLC that is (from what i've seen from reviews) at most 20 hours of gameplay.

As I said in my review for Persona 5 Royal. I really enjoy Atlus's games. The story is incredible, the soundtrack is very memorable, the characters are all engaging in their own little ways, the plot is engaging (A little boring in some ways), and the art style is very friendly and not leaning in one direct way or another. I would definitely recommend this game to anyone interested in these sort of games, especially anyone not really involved in the Anime world because while this can be considered an Anime game, I feel as if it is more than that and definitely worth a playthrough.

Meet Persona 3: A true story of Mortality. You like Turn Based JRPGs? This is one of the finest. With the removal of many grinding aspects, Reload is one of the best remakes. There are some HEAVY scenes, and this game might resonate with you if you: A. Experienced Loss B. Felt as though you don't have a purpose C. Were that friend who is in everyone's business. An amazing game in every sense of the word. The combat, although ever so slightly less intuitive than persona 5 royal, is still extremely enjoyable. The story does feel like it takes a while to pick up on the first playthrough but trust me the pay off is worth it. This game tells an amazing story about finding meaning in ones life and accepting your own mortality, My outlook on life is different after experiencing what this game has to say. I absolutely recommend this game to anybody on the fence about either buying this game or getting into the persona franchise in general, although I feel Persona 5 Royal is a better starting point because of a pretty noticeable difference in the way a certain character acts, if you know you know, so I suggest you start there.

The ending of this game brought me to tears. That being said, core gameplay is a slog play this before 5 or it will be nearly unbearable to get through.

This game just resonated with me on so many levels... It might dethrone all my other all-time faves, like Fe3H, SSBU, XC2, & Pikmin 3... As my favorite game of all time, honestly. Holy Peak, as they say

Lovers Boss has the worst game design I have ever seen in my life, the whole fight is a cutscene, how the fuck could anyone make this steaming pile of trash of a boss, great game tho

Persona 3 Reload is the first game that introduced me to the Persona series. It’s a really fun game with great rhetorical elements that provide detail within the story and foreshadow events. Besides grinding for specific materials in the endgame, I find this game very enjoyable, and I’ve spent many hours making different Persona builds. The music is amazing, and I believe that ATLUS never misses when it comes to making bangers.

It's not the definitive version of Persona 3 that we were all hoping for, as there is no Female MC option, but this is probably the best way to play the original story.

I played Persona 3 classic on the PS2 and later the PSP port (never FES though), and this is a very nice remake. The updated art and voices are great, and the new content is fun and interesting. Tartarus has really gotten a glow-up too. I'm looking forward to playing The Answer/Episode Aigis, since I've never played it before and I'm interested in seeing how it pans out. Most people dunk on it pretty hard, but I have a close friend who really likes it, so I want to see/play it for myself once I'm done playing the main game. I just wish that I didn't have to pay extra for it when it was originally just part of Persona 3 FES.

Peak 3 Reload made me appreciate life, so I touched some grass for the first time in years. Would recommend. (The game and touching grass.) also... The DLC was kind mid gameplay wise, but the story's still good, though be warned some others consider the story as bad. You should just watch a playthrough instead of dropping a chunk of cash on a meh DLC that was free in the original game.

First Persona game ive played all the way to the end (thus far) and i can say, I f*cking love this game, As a fan of turn based combat it feels very nice, i mean that would be a hard thing to mess up now. they really did such a good job on this game. this game is a must play if you like Jrpgs or even just Turn based combat, or even story driven games :)

Aigis is my lifeu, anyway great fun remake, suffers a bit from the repetitive stages but the narrative makes up for it

Persona 3 has been my favorite game on the persona franchise. I used to play the portable version (on psp not the portable version on steam). when they announce persona 3 reload (basiclly the remake of the game) i was so hyped to play this game on remake and bringing back my nostalgia ass again. finally after a year i finally bought this game and it's absolutely peak af and buying this game is so damn worth it 9/10

Truly an amazing experience. Really recommend this game, the story is great, the pacing is much better than P5R in my opinion. They nailed this remake.
