A lot of reviews seem to be based on this dlc as part of the main campaign, however they are missing the best part about it - the standalone rogue-like mode. The standalone mode actually forces you into thinking about your builds a bit more differently, since it puts you in situations where you can't escape from difficult situations and need to figure out how you are going to survive the island chain in front of you, with the limited rest options, some enemies that you might no have a counter for and skills that you did not bother to level up. Although the areas are a bit lacking in variety and combat can be a bit repetitive at times, this mode makes up for it by allowing you to experiment with very different party compositions and multiple parties at that, since you will have 3 runs at minimum. It also has a bit of story flavor, which is nice. With some improvements, I think this could be a great standalone game,

It's included in the Enhanced Edition, so there's little hope to stop people from buying it, but highly recommend disabling it before starting a campaign. This totally optional side quest arc is excurciatingly grindy, repetitive, tedious, and unbelievably long. Oh it also breaks the game balance by shooting you up ~1.5 levels before you get to act 4 and breaks the economy by dropping you over 1M gold worth of drops to be sold. It's so bad that I was totally loving WOTR before I decided to do this DLC as the last bit before finishing Act 3, and now I am close to totally shelving the entire game and moving on to play something else.

The dungeon added by this DLC is a boring grinding slog filled with annoying enemies and the only reason to do it is to get some powerful items. I am about halfway through and this DLC is sapping my interest in playing the game. Do yourself a favor and skip this one.
