Probably the best Marvel game out there. It’s definitely a gem, Just give it a try! ( I don't even like Marvel )

Alright, I’ll admit it I went into this game expecting another Marvel’s Avengers style disaster. You know, generic combat, live service grind, and soulless fanservice. But Guardians of the Galaxy actually surprised the hell out of me. ✅ What I Loved: The story is legit good. Like, not “good for a superhero game” just good, period. Emotional moments? Check. It had way more depth than I expected. The character banter is chef’s kiss These guys do not shut up and somehow, that’s a good thing. The back-and-forth between Peter, Rocket Drax, Gamora and Groot is hilarious heartwarming, and honestly better written than some Marvel movies. Top tier voice acting. Even though the voices are different from the MCU versions, I got used to them super fast. Everyone nailed their roles. Planet variety is awesome Every location feels fresh and visually stunning. You’re not stuck in the same grey corridor for hours this is a space road trip in all its colorful, weird glory. The 80s vibe is immaculate. That soundtrack? Banger after banger. You can literally blast "Take on Me" during a boss fight. It’s ridiculous. It’s beautiful.Amazing... Solid pacing & level design. The game never drags, and there's a nice mix of combat, exploration, and cutscenes. Feels like you’re playing a Marvel movie in a good way. No microtransactions, no battle pass, no online nonsense. Just a full, single-player experience with a beginning, middle, and end. Remember those? ❌ What Could Be Better: Combat gets a bit repetitive. It’s fun, but after a while it’s the same loop: give orders, shoot, use special, repeat. Enemy variety could be better too. Squad AI can be wonky. Sometimes your team just stands there while you’re getting your face kicked in. They talk... a lot. I loved the banter, but some players might find it too much. Like, they’ll talk over themselves and over cutscenes sometimes. Minor technical hiccups. Occasional FPS drops or texture pop-ins nothing major, just small stuff that reminds you it’s not perfect. Final Verdict: Honestly one of the best surprises I’ve had in a while. It’s a proper single-player game with no live service BS, and it delivers a strong narrative, great humor, and a ton of heart. If you're a Marvel fan, or just someone who misses the days when games came finished and fun, give this a shot. Way better than I expected. Rock solid space adventure. Would rocket ride again.

Now I remember why I avoided this game before. It stutters a lot, framerate is so unstable. Overall just bad optimization even now, but worth it on 90% off I'd say. Its a good one and done game. Only buy it at this price range, its too expensive for its own good. Actually recommend it (for now)

Hats off to the developers, amazing presentation, great OST and added songs for the soundtrack. Amazed at how it looks and runs. I adore the StarLord soundtrack. This is an absolute gem that makes you feel like you're in the original movie from 2014 while at the same time the game being distinct enough to have its own personality specially when it comes to the characters and their interactions. Don't overthink it, it's very much worth it!

I will keep it short - It felt like a love letter to the comics and all their characters, with a good story. - The game is absolutely beautiful, and each level is different from the last one. - Tips: update the visor FIRST to find all the skins and ability XP first. - My only major complain would be it's glitchy every once in a while. - Lastly, some dialogues are a little cringy, but that's Guardians of the Galaxy for you, cause there are moments where it's just deep. Eidos didn't do enough marketing for this.

Extremely funny, rich story, smooth combat (the ship combat felt a bit clunky but ok) and still a really good game. If you love the movies you will lvoe the game (buy it when its still on sale)

UPD: Refunded the game but seriously, it is totally worth buying it on sale and owning and playing it on Steam. It's EGS and the amount of time I spent in the game there that has ruined it for me and made me request a refund. One problem that I was having here, however, is the amount of time it takes for the game launcher to launch (around 3-5 minutes) and only then you can start a game from the in game launcher. That's a weird system (or at least the time that it takes to load is weird, shouldn't be happening). Don't remember if I had the same problem on EGS. Original review: I first played (and fully finished) this game on EGS when they were giving it away & I genuinely wish I bought it on Steam back then and had my first playthrough of it here instead. All the achievements I missed, all the oppostunities to share pretty screenshots. Not sure if a replay would be interesting enough since it's pretty straightforward, but it's a good game nonetheless. Well, at the very lest, it's a decent one. Cool music, although repetitive, just like the repetitive fighting. Even though it can become tedious by the end, especially if your goal is to finish it by any means, no matter whether you enjoy it the same way as you did in the beginning, its visuals are beautiful & the story is engaging. If you haven't played this game before, I recommend you to get it on sale and enjoy. P.S.: SO sad Eidos is no longer, we needed (and still need) Deus Ex 3.

Unironic 10/10. Forget what you probably saw in the movies, this game blows those films out of the water. From the humor to the writing and pacing, this game has it all. I'm not going to lie, I teared up a few times, even had insane hype moments too. Not to mention the game has story dialogue choices that can change the story up akin to Mass Effect.

This game really made me want to read the comic run of these Guardians. It's a very charming game where it's ARPG elements have you be more of the leader than main damage dealer and I find that was done really well. The 5 Guardians come to life with really fun and smart writing. The character dynamics are chaotic and well balanced at the same time. While it has some triple AAA quirks they're barely present compared to the sheer passion on display. The choices also add a fun layer to having to play as Star Lord, it's up to you to make the best choices for your rag-tag bunch. It's really a shame the Avengers game dampended all the expectations for this one because this game is a really great and fun time. If you want a 20 hour game that has a lot of fun and soul within. You can't go wrong with Guardians of the Galaxy. The licensed music choices are also very inspired, and are the one thing present from the films. The choices are 10/10, not to mention the original music made for the game for the fictional band that Star Lord admires. It's honestly just a well made and fun game. With surprising emotional highs.

TLDR: This is NOT a "game".. Its an interactive story! -Denuvo -Unavoidable Data collection and privacy invasion.. Theres not even a way to decline it, so you can exit and uninstall the game.. You can read the agreement, or accept it.. Thats it! Real scum company Those two points alone, SHOULD have been all I needed to know to not buy the game. I went against my principles, and better judgement, because it was only $5.99, and I absolutely deserve this miserable experience because of it! Story: The story is not connected to the movies in any way. this story has nothing to do with the original movies, or any of the sequels. So the lore is a bit off, and youre kind of given bits and pieces of what occurred in this games setting, but its discombobulating, and as such, leaves the player disconnected from it. Its hard to care, if its only surface level. The Game: Negatives -The opening scene was really pointless. If this was some immersive rpg, I might care about flashbacks, and reading magazine covers from Quills childhood.. But this aint that -The opening mission is very on rails, and every action is chosen for you.. You simply click the button to make it happen, when prompted. This isnt gaming. This is interactive storytelling. This is not just Linear.. This is on rails. -QTE's that feel 20 years out of date. These are far too common, and theyre very poorly done, without warning.. You go from watching the never ending cutscenes, to suddenly getting a WTE.. You will fail every single one of them the first time, because they catch you offguard, but they save at the moment of the QTE. So you instantly try again after a reload. Meaning, they are completely pointless. -Combat.. I was expecting the combat to feel and play, much better, because of the opinions of this. This is not good combat at all. Even it feels like its on rails, and youre just selecting which teammate uses an ability.. You feel like youre tickling enemies, even on the low setting. And I DO suggest playing on the low setting. There is zero benefit to playing harder.. Its a simple damage in/out adjustment, and combat is already super easy, and tedious. -Upgrades.. Even this is linear. Each character has 4 measly upgrade/abilities, and Your gear has linear upgrades. In this respect, its like the Recent Star Wars games. There are upgrades and outfits, but its not very exciting at all. -UNSKIPpABLE CUTSCENES! Which dont normally bother me, but the amount of bugs means you have to reload alot, and you ALWAYS have to watch entire cutscenes again! -Lots, and Lots, and Lots of bugs! -Im at what I assume is the end, on some cult ship, flying through waves and waves of nonstop shooting, and its just ridiculously difficult.. You tickle enemies, and your teammates are standing still, doing nothing. While youre being pelted with nonstop fire from 8-12 enemies, mixed with elites, and buffers. The Game: Positives +Its pretty to look at +There are plenty of settings to adjust +Great music BUGS: -The game already broke, in the very first mission.. Ask Gamora to cut the line by pressing Y... I did, and she didnt.. now its greyed out, and wont allow us to advance -Chapter 3, running across the lightning field, Gamora broke, and went into the fetal position, and this caused the mission to lock. The cutscene happened, and because she is frozen in that position, it wont complete the cutscene. -When entering rooms on the ship, which I guess is the HUB, you can get stuck in the room when the doors close behind you. The button prompts to reopen the door, do not appear. So you will walk back and forth multiple times, trying to make it acknowledge that you want to leave. -This game was made during the peak of the wokeness movement, and feminism abounds. Grilboss is the name of the game.. Men are clowns, and morons, and the females are powerful, and serious. Both in position, and prowess. The big bad, is a knockoff of the original bad guy in the 2014 GotG movie. Though shes dressed as a character from Monster Hunter -Revisiting the Nova Corp station, the event triggers keep failing, blocking all progress.. Ive now run into this problem several times. Usually, a reload will fix the issue. But bottom line, this game lacks serious polish, and is buggy AF! -Im accessing a Nova Core computer, and after watching all videos, audio logs, criminal records, etc, theres NO way to close the computer.. Once again, soft locking progress.. And since cutscenes are unskippable, I now have to reload, and do it all over again! -Teammates AI is not doing anything in most fights. They stand there, waiting for direct orders CONCLUSION: -This game feels like it was made for very young children.. Who are all the people claiming this was a good game? This is trash! Edit: If youre at all critical, the mods in the discussions will delete the topic. DO NOT BUY

This game is surprisingly really fun. It is effectively a modern final fantasy game with a marvel makeover. This results in a very fun, linear game where you play as Star Lord exclusively. At first I was sceptical about only playing as Star-Lord but it worked out quite well. You get to make decisions and they do matter to an extent, with the player being able to skip sections depending on decisions they make earlier. Like the other reviews have said, the combat does get a bit repetitive but the game is short enough for that not to kick in until the very end of the game. Overall, a solid game but nothing crazy special. Worth playing if you are a fan of Marvel or even the modern final fantasy formula of games. I would rate this game a 8/10

This game represents the Guardians honorably like Witcher 3 represented The Witcher books. It's one of those rare games that just gets what makes its characters special, not a crappy, awful remake that ruins everything. The way they interact, bicker, and ultimately come together as a dysfunctional family is peak Guardians. This game has great combat if you rely on teamwork and don't try to solo everything. Starlord is not strong enough for that. His blasters are fun, but they’re not enough to carry you through a fight against swarms of enemies or towering bosses. The real fun is strategizing commands for the others, like timing Groot’s roots to pin someone before blasting them, having Drax and Gamora wittle down the health of a pesky strong enemy before closing in for the melee kill. If you feel like it's hopeless, you can always rally the team, pick the right dialogue and have them come back with buffs and some fighting music with a soundtrack that's very 80s. Rocket's perfect because of his snark, Drax because he's just so comically literal, Gamora is way better represented here than in the movies because she has way more personality and Groot is.. Groot. He'll remind you very frequently. Just flying on jetboots and blasting hostile aliens is pretty fun too. Negatives? The game is pretty glitchy. Sometimes it will act like there's still an enemy to defeat to progress, but nobody is around. Oh, but they are there. They're just floating in the sky too far away to access. Or a cutscene just won't play when it's supposed to. I had a hilarious glitch where Starlord was aiming fingerguns and saying "pew pew, PEW" while the team was begging him to do something. Reloads of checkpoints often fix both glitch types, if you're lucky and that pesky enemy isn't still floating so far away every single time. I'm guessing they were supposed to be transported to you and something weird happened. Who knows? Oh and the quicktime events are incredibly annoying. Sometimes hitting the correct button press at the right time doesn't register and I got to watch Starlord die a lot. Overall, there is nothing about this game that isn't fun. It really should have been bugtested thoroughly.

It's understandable why this game flew under the radar being released at the massive downturn of marvel. But I say this as someone who doesn't give a shit about marvel and never even cared for the GotG movies, this game is actually really good. The environments feel alive, the combat is serviceable, but the real highlight is the story/characters. Each member has a very fleshed out personality as you would expect from GotG, but even more so, it's genuinely funny and backed up by great voice acting. I'm not talking blow air out your nose funny, like it actually warrants a smile and perhaps even an audible giggle. This is one of the few games where I've actually wanted to trigger dialogue because it's entertaining and I love the banter between the crew. Except for mantis, idk wtf that millenial cringe writing was. Anyway, don't go into this expecting an epic space saga where you blast everything in sight and run intricate heists. This game is much more so on the interactive story end of things with a heavy dose of cutscenes and character development. The gameplay is just fun enough to break up the story and keep the pacing consistent, but it's nothing to really write home about. In fact, I'd even call it mediocre. But the story/writing is good enough to make up for it. Either way, worth one play in your lifetime, especially on a deep discount.

This game was such a blast from start to finish. I had so much fun, everything from the vibrant atmosphere to the humor of each guardian, was absolutely fantastic. All in all, it was such a fun experience to be a part of the guardians and be able to make my own choices on how the story unfolds. I came across a few minor bugs here and there, but the checkpoint reset was my savior. In the end it didn't take away from my experience. Great game! Please make a second one

This game was amazing from start to end, I had a blast going through this. Strongly recommend as a action RPG with a well-written, non-convoluted plot. The characters are equally unique and endearing in their own way. So many small details bring the characters to life, but you really don't want any spoilers from me. You don't need to know the Marvel universe well (or at all) to enjoy this, I haven't watched any of the Guardians movies and only knew the characters from short clips, but still had a hell of a time going through the story. Some part humorous, some part touching, and overall well put together. Give it a go, especially if on discount. I got it for 90% during the summer sale, 20/10 recommend.

The sheer amount of cinematics was surprising, in both a good and bad way. Dog report item: game is great. Probably one of the best singleplayer action-adventure made. In a decade or two, this will be looked upon as a great example of its genre. It's a shame that even talking about a sequel seems implausible, but let's hope despite the politics of what's happening to the studio itself won't hurt the creativity behind this masterpiece.

This is a great Marvel game. The banter is witty and good, the environments are gorgeous, and the story is awesome. It really feels like you're in another GOTG movie. This is a sort of tentative recommendation. I got this during the summer sale for $5. At that price, it was definitely worth it. At the normal price of $60? Probably wouldn't have been. The story kept me relatively engaged (a bit emotional at times too), combat was good, interactions with the crew are entertaining and there's some decent voice acting. I would encourage you to think of this as a ~15 - 20 hour interactive movie, rather than a game. World exploration is pretty linear, you can find components and outfits, but I got enough components for the perks I wanted several hours before the end of the game and the outfits are purely cosmetic. The skill point system didn't mean much, you get enough points for the essential skills pretty quick. The story line has plot holes and some of the dialogue is cheesy, but as long as you can turn your brain off and enjoy the dumb fun, its pretty cool. The biggest issues are technical. This game is dreadfully unpolished in the weirdest ways. It has a very specific pace it wants you to keep and it's liable to completely break if you mess that up. I had to look up how to get out of a basement in the first mission because I kept killing the enemies so quickly that the game wouldn't trigger to let me out. That was at least 20 mins listening to Star-Lord tell Rocket how gross and punchable the monsters were until I read a Steam discussion that recommended killing them slowly. Thankfully, the checkpoints are often, so if you do break something or are just standing somewhere for minutes without any idea of what to do, it's usually worth it to restart just to make sure that the game didn't break. If you can get it at a discount, I would definitely recommend it, but not for full price, the length and weird bugs don't warrant $60 unless you're a HUGE marvel/Guardians of the Galaxy fan.

Played through this game on console before. It is surprisingly good. Flarking great, one might say. The characters are very accurate and likeable. The amount of dialog and the quality and authenticity of it is insane. The story is shockingly good. I think I like it more than the trilogy of MCU movies generally. Not that they are tied together at all, this game is a standalone universe with a different version of these characters. And I am SO happy for that. The world and environments are also super varied and detailed. With very cool and unique alien locations. The weakest part of the game is the game-play itself. It isn't bad, but it isn't great either. And sometimes the movement can feel a touch jank, though it is generally pretty polished. It is the one mediocre part of the package. Well, maybe that sounds worse than it is. I do think it is the weakest part, but I still like it. And the rest of the package is so great it easily elevates it. I love this game. I don't see how anyone would dislike it. It is just a blast the whole way through.

Such a tragedy that a game as good as this flew under most people's radar. I believe it's due in part to the flop of the Marvel's Avengers game which Edios-Montreal had a hand in developing. Though it is related to that game, don't let that fool you. The game has the powerful ability to combine the feeling of both the comic and movie versions of the characters. Notable Drax, who in the MCU is typically written off as comic relief in almost all of his appearances lacking his more serious nature you would see often in comic books. However in this game they are able to combine both of those aspects without him seeming like a confused character. Of course this is just me focusing on one character but almost all of the characters in this game are written very well. I'd highly recommend picking this game up anytime you see it on sale, and here's hoping somehow a sequel gets made.

Had a couple technical issue, like not being able to grab a ledge or my boosters not working but other than that it was a pretty fun game to play after work took me about 3 days (Saturday, Sunday, and Monday) to beat so its a decent amount of game time
