so in case you are on the fence for this game and you might be thinking its just another boring builder game.... it is another builder game but i think it does what a lot of them fail to do, they simulate being part of an awesome community with characters you both love and hate and get annoyed by. if you let your self get immersed in it and don't just think of it as yet another game you will have a lot of fun laughing and maybe even crying if you are a baby like me! anyways totally recommend it as it also has a well thought out story that doesn't feel like its an after thought, even if it is kinda cliche i still felt invested thanks to the characters.
SHORT
A pretty decent farming (crafting) simulator. The game is quite grindy and has some sound bugs - that can be forgiven. The setting, plot, and soundtrack, might be worth it. It will take you about 150 hours to finish the game and get all the achievements.
LONG
My Time at Portia is a farming simulator with an emphasis on crafting. The 3D gameplay is surprisingly good, especially when it comes to exploring the map, managing the workshop, and interacting with the environment in general. However, the learning curve is a bit steep, and this, coupled with the complexity of crafting, can be a bit daunting for some people during the first hours. The combat is mediocre, nothing special, a bit of a hack-and-slash mixed with souslike - it feels good when you land a critical hit, but the enemies, dungeons, and bosses are quite boring and repetitive. The AI pathing is pathetic (enemies have trouble climbing steps and ramps). Although the graphics aren't very impressive, the map is very pretty and the setting is great. The town of Portia is super charming and has a unique style. However, some regions of the map feel empty and lifeless, with huge areas without any kind of interaction. The plot is cool - nothing spectacular, and the individual stories of the NPCs are also nice (some even funny), you'll be able to have a few laughs and create some connections with at least some of them. The part that impressed me the most, both positively and negatively, was the sound. The exploration soundtracks are very good and provide a great ambiance. The voice acting is also surprisingly good. Now, the entire sound design part is terrible, the combat soundtracks are boring, repetitive and trigger at random moments, most of the bosses have no sounds - this also happens with some dialogues and cutscenes. Do I recommend it? Totally! Considering the sound bugs, I wouldn't pay full price, but this game is often 80% off. It will take you about 150 hours to complete the game and get all the achievements.

My Time at Portia “A Colorful, Creative Life Sim That’s Almost Perfect” My Time at Portia is one of those games you start casually—and then suddenly it’s 3 a.m. and you’re still customizing furniture, planting crops, or chasing down commissions. It’s a vibrant, wholesome sandbox with loads to do, tons of charm, and a beautiful art style that brings its quirky world to life. Graphics & World Design For a cartoony game, Portia looks fantastic. The warm, pastel visuals are clean, polished, and full of detail—from cozy workshops to glowing sunsets over grassy hills. The town itself is bursting with personality, and every NPC feels like part of a real (if slightly oddball) community. Gameplay & Creativity This is where the game really shines. Building your workshop empire, crafting machines, decorating your home, farming, mining, fishing, raising animals—it’s all here. The freedom to play your way, combined with the rich crafting system, makes it one of the most creative life sims out there. There’s always something new to do without feeling overwhelming. The Big “What If” – Multiplayer The one thing My Time at Portia is really missing? Multiplayer. It’s easy to imagine how much more fun it’d be sharing the world with a friend—building side-by-side, adventuring, or teaming up for commissions. The game’s cozy nature lends itself perfectly to co-op, so it’s a real shame it stays strictly single-player. Final Thoughts My Time at Portia is an easy recommendation for fans of Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing, or Harvest Moon who want something with a bit more depth and 3D charm. It’s colorful, packed with content, and endlessly cozy. If only you could share the experience with a friend, it might be a five-star classic. + Pros: ✔ Beautiful cartoon-style graphics ✔ Deep and creative crafting/building system ✔ Tons of content and activities ✔ Chill yet satisfying gameplay − Cons: ✘ No multiplayer (and it really feels like it should have it) ✘ Some repetitive quests and voice lines ✘ Occasional pacing issues in progression

It's a good game, but it keeps crashing, and the only way to save is by sleeping in a bed. I wish there was a way to save it when I want to. It's frustrating that every time I crash I have to start that day over again.

i haven’t read through much of the reviews, so please excuse me if my talking points have already been said to death. my time at portia is something incredibly precious to me, and a game that i find myself lovingly spending days at time in this world. the loading screens alone are incredible, and the lore goes so deep and yet, it strikes a perfect balance that allows users to play with what was given as if we are paddling through a sandbox! even the bugs, the many and plentiful of them, are super duper charming to me since they often come off as character quirks than anything (there is a bug where, if i were to kiss my beautiful in-game pixelated husband, he will then be yanked into the sun as if he has been a scooby-doo character or goofy himself from disney, leaving a comical empty space as i struggle to locate the love of my life [aka married for 2 hours in real time] on the map. it aligns with the in-game logic, just like how that one reddit user posted about finding out his son came out looking exactly like sam had an affair with her guy best friend instead. what a magnificient life we lead here!). earnestly speaking, as excited as i am about the future of pathea games, it is portia that i return to the most. the artstyle, the dialogues, the bugs,... they are all so very stylistically and lively done to me. if i love it less, i probably would be able to talk about it more :]

Portia was such a cute and soft introduction to the world in the My Time series. Even though Sandrock is out, I still think new players should start with Portia just to get an idea and meet the cute cast of characters in the game.

At 80% discount, this game is extremely worth it. If you intend to play Portia before Sandrock, I would recommend buying this game (even tho there isn't any direct story dependencies) Do be aware that although I had tons of fun playing My Time at Portia, there are bunch of flaws - Bugs, especially near end game. As if the developers ran outta money at the end - Crap combat system - Tedious steam achievements Portia walks so that Sandrock can run. Highly recommend the next title.

I tried playing My Time at Portia on the Switch a few years ago and dropped it pretty quickly. I couldn't stand the controls and the story seemed to progress slowly. I kept hearing great things and decided to grab it during the summer sale. I am loving playing this game on PC! Combat is fun and I am really enjoying the story. I really like the crafting aspect and the way the mechanics of that works. Being able to watch the thing you're building come together instead of just clicking a button and having a new machine is so unique in this genre of game. Mining is really enjoyable because you aren't only collecting iron, stone, ect. You're hunting around for hidden puzzle pieces, special resources... it's always neat to see what I discover. There's still a ton for me to do and I'm not at all bored. If you've tried this game before on a different platform and disliked it, definitely give it a try on PC!

I love this game. I first started with this series by plaing My Time and Sandrock and then I ventured into My Time at Portia and as of now I can say that somehow I love My Time at Portia way more. This is a game that has everything that I like. I can do the quests at my own pace, I can craft stuff while improving my shop/house and interract with all the NPCs there and build friendships and relationships. At the same time the animals I have to kill for some materials aren't automatically agressive. At least for now. And the music is amazing. The game is so relaxing that "Only five minutes" turn to five hours without even realising it. I wholeheartedly recommend this game.

A unique take to the cozy, farm games. Instead of farming, you build (and farm!). I heavily enjoyed this game and loved most of the characters. The story is nice and I enjoyed the events and being able to upgrade/decorate your workshop. I do wish there was a better system with decorating and not every romance is equal in content. Overall, a good game if you want something slightly to the left of a cozy, farm sim.

If you like Stardew Valley, give this a shot. It focuses more on mining than farming but it's still good.
Overall Rating
★★★★☆ (4.5/5)

Overview
My Time at Portia is a cozy, post-apocalyptic life simulation RPG that blends crafting, exploration, relationship-building, and light combat into one surprisingly deep and engaging experience. Set in a world recovering from catastrophe, the game emphasizes rebuilding, community, and creativity — not survival or violence. Whether you're running a full-scale workshop, diving into ancient ruins, farming crops, or forming bonds with the townspeople, Portia rewards both casual play and long-term commitment.

World & Atmosphere
The town of Portia is colorful, inviting, and full of life. NPCs have unique routines, events run on schedules, and seasons bring changes in scenery. While the world is set after a technological fall, the tone is optimistic and inspiring rather than grim or bleak. The art style leans toward cartoonish, but with enough detail to make every location feel alive. From bustling marketplaces to mysterious ruins, Portia’s charm lies in its little moments — not just big quests.

Core Gameplay

Workshop Building
You inherit your father's workshop and build it from scratch — taking on commissions, crafting machines, and contributing to town projects. The blueprint system, material gathering, and task complexity scale beautifully over time.
Social System
Talk, gift, spar, date, and even marry townsfolk. Each character has personality, storylines, and unique cutscenes. Some characters have deeply emotional arcs, while others are quirky or comedic.
Exploration & Mining
Diving into ruins and dungeons lets you collect resources and uncover ancient relics. These areas are semi-randomized and tie directly into crafting progress and story beats.
Combat
While functional, combat is one of the weaker systems. It gets better as you unlock higher-level gear, but don't expect deep mechanics. That said, the challenge level is forgiving and doesn't gate main progression.
Farming & Livestock
Farming is a secondary system but works well for passive resource generation. Animals can be raised for ingredients or profit, but farming isn't the core loop — your workshop is.

Progression & Replayability
The game moves at a relaxing pace, and there's always something to work on — a new commission, town upgrade, relationship, or event. Mid-game can get a little grind-heavy, but the payoff is satisfying when your workshop becomes a well-oiled machine. Replay value comes from trying different romances, optimizing your workshop, or changing how you interact with the community.

Story & Characters
The main story focuses on rebuilding Portia’s infrastructure and technology, while the background lore explores the world’s downfall and recovery. While light in tone, the story delivers meaningful moments. The characters are varied and memorable, each with backstories that slowly reveal as you build relationships. Some are straightforward; others will surprise you with emotional depth or hidden pasts.

Sound & Music
The soundtrack is gentle and fitting — perfect for long play sessions. While no track particularly stands out, it complements the gameplay beautifully. Sound effects are subtle, and voice acting is minimal but adequate.

Polish & Performance
The game runs smoothly on most machines, but there are a few minor issues: Occasional NPC pathfinding glitches Clunky UI, especially for inventory or workshop menus Repetitive dialogue lines over time Some unskippable animations or interactions Nothing game-breaking, and patches have improved stability since launch.

Pros
+ Deep and satisfying workshop crafting + Relaxing gameplay loop with meaningful progression + Quirky and memorable characters + Plenty of content: ruins, events, upgrades, side quests + A post-apocalyptic world filled with hope and heart
Cons
- Combat is basic and underdeveloped - UI and inventory could be smoother - Some grinding required in mid-game - Dialogue can become repetitive

Final Thoughts
My Time at Portia is a heartwarming, deeply engaging life sim that’s perfect for players who enjoy crafting, character-driven stories, and the joy of building something from the ground up. While not without flaws, the experience is consistently rewarding and rich with detail. If you liked Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon, or crafting-focused RPGs like Rune Factory, this will feel right at home — but with more structure and crafting depth. Highly recommended for anyone looking to relax, create, and connect — one project at a time.
