Experienced on the Meta Quest 3
You can view my 3D in VR gameplay here (SBS 3D video): https://youtu.be/EPpCvw2W1eI Yes you can play Harold Halibut in 3D in VR using the completely free Geo-11 3D mod (search for it), which renders the game in SBS 3D for viewing in VR using any app that lets you view 3D content in VR such as Virtual Desktop (Steam) or Bigscreen VR. The game looks beautiful in 3D in VR, it is total eye candy. It's like watching a 3D movie at the theater, which is perfect since this game is mostly a cinematic experience. Game ran perfectly fine for me, with only a few minor issues (such as posters or elevator buttons not quite looking exactly right). Performance was usually around 90-120 FPS on my RTX 3080 with DLSS on Quality with most important graphical options on high, but with motion blur, depth of field, lens effect, volumetric fog on low or turned off completely. I wish everyone would realize that these narrative-driven games / cinematic games are perfect for 180 VR. You don't even need to add motion controls! The VR 180 theatrical experience or spatial video as Apple calls it, is genuinely just better and beats out the pancake experience 10 out of 10 times. 3D in VR Rating 9/10. Almost perfect in VR, just a few minor flaws.
I bought this game! One day I was scrolling through the store looking for new games to play during a steam sale and just so happened to stumble upon this beautiful game. I was immediately drawn to the unique claymation style and bought it right away, and was not left disappointed. I am absolutely obsessed with this game and poured over 40 hours to get all the achievements, so it's safe to say I have played through the entire game three times and still love every little moment of it. Harold Halibut is HEAVILY narrative driven and a fetch quest walking sim, so this game may not be for everyone. Harold Halibut requires patience, so if you're a rather patient person who enjoys a good story, I highly recommend this game for you. There is so much to love about this game, from the unique art-style, the gorgeous environments, the amazing soundtrack, to its incredible story and characters. And while every character holds a special place in my heart, Harold will always be my favorite. I found myself deeply relating to Harold in many ways, and you can't help but truly feel for him as you play. There are several humorous moments as there are bittersweet ones, and the game is worth playing till the very end. I once again highly recommend this game and hope more people will give it a chance. Harold Halibut is EXTREMELY underrated and deserves all the love it can get <3

Really good definitely worth the money. writing is phenomenal and has a charm only matched by some of the best point and click games and some of the best animation/claymation of all time.

I went through a lot of reviews for this game good and bad. A lot of the good reviews don't seem to go into too much depth and the bad reviews really trash on a solid game. If you go into it thinking you are going to have an RPG or some sort of dramatic experience, you will be disappointed. But, if you go into the game wanting a long interactive story (albeit linear), then you will be pleased. Harold has become one of my favorite characters period. I saw many other reviews saying that the other characters that interact with Harold treat you as an idiot. Well, that is kind of the point. Harold isn't the most intelligent character, but his emotions outshine the rest. Harold questions himself, and as a consequence, YOU question yourself. He seems, in a way, to be the most human of them all. Overall, the main story is nothing groundbreaking, but that isn't the point. The personal interactions you have with others is what really matters. The same goes for real life. Hell, i even remembered most of the characters names (and i'm bad with names). And visually, absolutely beautiful. The way the characters and everything else was 3D scanned in gives the game a physical feel to it. It feels as if each movement is hand crafted. There are certain moments where this can falter, but from a studio putting their soul into a huge project like this one, i'd say they did a wonderful job. It's like an indie film with a bit of charm. I don't want to give this game an "number out of 10" rating because i don't think its needs one. It was a wonderful experience and i think others should enjoy what was crafted here. I'm excited to see what else this studio will put out.

This game had so much potential. The artistic design was so unique, such a breath of fresh air. And character development was done quite well. But the story moved at an absolutely glacial pace. A 11+ hour experience could have easily been wrapped up in half that time. And the writing and direction were both laughably bad. I literally found myself laughing out loud multiple times from how bad both the writing and direction were, especially towards the end. If you are debating buying this or not, buy American Arcadia instead. It's a far better story for almost half the price.

amazing story, especially if you decide to go on all the side quests for the characters.

Harold Halibut is a heartwarming narrative experience that doesn't need difficult riddles and challenges to keep you engaged. A wholesome little masterpiece.

9/10 The good: Great design, very calming and relaxing experience. The characters are memorable, and the dialogues are enjoyable (most of the time). I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a piece of art you can just sit back and enjoy. For a small indie studio, it’s very promising. The bad: I know the writing is a bit shallow in general, but I get the feeling it’s intentional. Still, in some parts mostly during the last chapter it felt a bit too much and kind of rushed. The ugly: There are some bugs. Nothing game-breaking, just annoying, but they’re still there. Happened to me on both Game Pass and Steam. But overall I really enjoyed this game to just shut down your brain and feel the vibe.

There is some incredible physical craftsmanship here with all the scanned-in puppets and dioramas that were made for it, which makes this an incredibly unique experience. However, keep in mind that the selling point of the game is the arts-and-crafts visual style brought to life in an interactive medium...not the gameplay. Nor the story imo. As an amusing side note, it took me a little under 9 hours to finish it, while it took over 10 years to make.

Though the gameplay is pretty much restricted to walking from A to B, I enjoyed this game a lot. It's more like an interactive animated movie. The story, art style, voice acting and writing are great!

Definitely a unique game! I find it relaxing because it's easy and the characters are soft spoken. I do find the dialogue a little boring or hard to follow without thinking about it sometimes and get a little bored. Overall, I'd give it a 7 outta 10 because it's unique and the backgrounds are so cool (really a 6 for game play itself, but that felt too low to type). I've seen minimal bugs. I got it at half off and definitely don't think it's worth sticker price. Under $20 for sure.

Looked really promising, but the game has only English voice lines with slang, that don't fit the games feel at all. It says English only on the shop page, but if you want to buy this game for its German charme, you may won't find what you're looking for. The characters should at least speak English with German accent. It was a real bummer to me, when starting the game the first time. The voice lines feel weirdly out of place, but I try to get used to it.

Nenhuma personalidade fora a arte. Potencial jogado fora. Jogo mais tediante da minha vida. Não joguem isso, nem assistam video disso na internet, só vejam umas imagens, achem legal e sigam sua vida. é MUITO ruim.

It's heartbreaking to not be able to recommend this one. It's obvious Harold Halibut is a labor of love and talent. However, not even the consistently striking visuals can keep the bland writing, corridor walking and crashes from dragging this one down. I laughed 0 times in my 3 hours with the title, not even a chuckle.

Good game, but bitter ending. He deserved more.
