Its exactly the same game as rebellion with a slight graphics bump. same ships, same factions, same mechanics, slightly different tech tree (Very slightly). Let it cook for a few years and wait for a them to bundle all the upcoming DLCs for the price of a regular game. In its current state, it's a cash grab.

Early thumbs down for making me use the Steam launcher to launch the Stardock launcher to launch the game. Quit with your separate launcher nonsense.

Its a really good game and follows on from the original... however there are some key flaws that make it almost unplayable.... 1 - Solo play vs multiple AI? Good luck they all band against you.... 2 - Worst bit about my first point is you've got a limit of 2000 fleet cap (so do they... so a 2v1 is unbeatable). 3 - System defences are far too strong... ive had entire 2000 pop fleets lose vs my system defence and only 500 fleet of mine, try attacking anyone with those stats when you're already being doubled. 4 - Feels a little too basic, no upkeep for your ships/stations, after midgame you basically have infinite resources, and you're just spamming ships at another endless resourced empire. 5 - Has potential but needs some balance rework to make it fun. Right now its only actually fun in 1v1.... or team games like 3v3 or 4v4... if its a huge map or theres teams, its basically unplayable when it goes to endgame unless you do huge teams.... But a 8 player FFA? just means 7v1, so 14000 fleet cap vs your 2000....

Nice upgrade from the first game and DLC. Graphics are a bit nicer and the game runs much smoother with more on the screen. Workshop content has a nice selection of maps and mods for changing up the experience for solo/multiplayer. Playing mostly PVE with friends and can say the AI needs some more work. The AI seems to get stuck or not be able to make good decisions in some situations, which can also make them a little predictable. Even playing against difficulties above unfair or nightmare can have the same issues. The AI will tend to have faster development for ships/research with increased difficulty, but not really change some critical decision making. Sometimes it is a cakewalk with nightmares with this and sometimes we can get steamrolled pretty quick. Single-player experience is similar with the same issues as above with the AI becoming very predictable. On bigger and more open maps, the AI seems to flow better, but still runs into problems. They are still fun to play against in both PVE and solo play through, though, and can be more than challenging with most maps. Overall, the UI, tech-tree, and planet development were all a little weird to get used to at first. Much as changed since the first Sins. There's plenty of info out on the web about comparisons for the both. It's a great sequel to the first Sins that runs and looks much better and has been mostly improving since it's come out. Still, the AI needs a little improving and the artwork for the UI/tech-tree/etc could definitely use some re-working for clarity. Runs great on my PC. "Hundreds of hours of fun let me know..."

good game. wish they didnt rely so hard on AI images for art. However, I do understand that they can invest more money into gameplay mechanics by skipping out on the art. Now that the game is out and sold well, hopefully they will go back and fix the art. I believe they have already started doing that It is an overall improvement on prior sins games and worth the purchase

Opens game Over-rendered AI Title Screen Over-rendered AI Thumbnails Interest evaporated instantly At least be interesting and give me a wide selection of aliens to play if your gonna generate a bunch of slop I'm sticking to Stellaris, at least any AI generated slop in that game isn't so abundant and intrusive, and I can play as aliens.

The game is not bad the graphics are great and the idea is cool. However, I would only recommend to someone if they are a fan of civilization style games (only not turn based) or do not like the faster pace of star craft. The matches take quite a lot of time and there are LOTs of game mechanics the player needs to be understand in ordered to know what is going on. If you want to play this game expect to read a lot and have lengthy matches.

I absolutely recommend this for anyone who enjoyed Sins of a Solar Empire 1. It's a graphical and mechanical upgrade. It's a ton of fun for people who enjoy RTS games. It's a lot of fun figuring out your play style, your build order, and improving all of that to fight harder and harder bots, as well as going against other people. The game launched in a well-built state. We weren't sitting around waiting for them to complete it. But they've already made some really good updates including reintroducing some mechanics from Sins 1 (like planet populations). And the DLC they've announced have me eagerly waiting. Game length: games tend to be medium length as far as strategy games go. Not as long as Civilization, Stellaris, and 4x games like those. But also not a short as, say, starcraft 2 games. 1-5 hours are the typical lengths of the games I play and it mostly varies based on the size of the map and win conditions. If you do total war on a 10 player map with 200+ planets, you can expect it to take 7 hours. But a 2v2 on a map built for 2v2s can be won in 30-50 minutes. For fleets you have a faction-specific Titan (can only build one and have one at a time), 6 potential capital ships for each race, and a bunch of carriers/frigates/corvettes to build out your fleet. Each Titan plays completely differently and aside from one (I won't say which one) I like them all. The devs have done a fantastic job making each ship worth having, but if you want 'easy mode' combat against some AI fleets all you really need are the classic strikecraft-spam and missile-spam. There are three factions (so far - a fourth is coming in one of the DLCs) and each one is mechanically different from the others. Vasari are the dirty rotten bugs that don't understand money and will choose to destroy everything in their wake. Their play style excels at constantly moving forward, being aggressive, and taking the fight to their enemies. One of the Vasari factions will eat the planets they conquer, and the other faction will pretend to be your friend. But they're still disgusting bugs. Advent try to pretend they don't know what money is, but need mountains of it for their tech tree. They also spew their dirty culture out everywhere and that can really ruin your day. If you ignore their culture war that can be as bad as ignoring their ships. They are the more balanced race and can do well being aggressive or defensive. They excel at stealing things that don't belong to them (ships, planets, your very soul.....) TEC is the best and they have the economy to show for it. They benefit by being defensive - holding planets, upgrading them fully, and building out trade ports give them an edge in steamrolling their opponents. Even better: TEC Primacy's Ragnarov titan is a massive gun that was converted into a spaceship, and it can tear through just about anything all on its own. The only thing it CAN'T kill - as my friends and I have found out - is a fully upgraded TEC Enclave Anklyon Titan. Which is turtle-shaped and behaves as you'd expect a turtle to behave in an RTS. 1 Ragnarov vs 1 Anklyon = Stalemate. Maybe after a couple hours the Anklyon will win. We didn't let it go that far.

A genuine review. i have played over 500 hours in sins of a solar empire rebellion and currently have about 37 hours in sins of a solar empire 2. this will be broken up into sections for organization graphics: this game is visually stunning with the in game models, but unfortunately i think the UI lacks some personality that the previous game had. i believe this is most likely due to the fact that they used AI for the UI purposes. gameplay: sins 2 very much plays like the original in many ways, but it seems like they've done some things with the way research is done and they way ship construction works that makes it a little bit more complicated. they are a few ways to get exotics(the new material) and early game it can be random so it means you do not have as much freedom. i like that the turrets move and track targets. i like that the turrets have a set speed and if a target moves too fast, they have a hard time hitting the target. i do miss the extra capital ship that each faction got in the previous game. its unfortunate they are not currently in the game. potential: i think this game has a lot of potential. mods are easier to access, and i think there could be some exciting future content to the game. hopefully new ships and new unique faction features. overall, i do like this game and i do think it is worth buying and i will be playing it more.

For returning players: The learning curve from the original Sins is pretty straight forward. In many regards, this is a clear successor to the original. It takes a minimal amount of time to get the new systems figured out and most are a pleasant upgrade from the original. Each race feels more unique, owing to new mechanics, while other changes, like making planetary shields star base modules accessible to all factions, are welcome ways to level the strategic playing field. For new players, the tutorials are a must - but even relatively inexperienced players can get started pretty quickly once they learn the basics.

Loved the original and its expansions. While many might complain that this game doesn't change the overall game loop, it's a much-needed re-launch without the 32-bit limitations of the original, and it looks prettier and features actual projectile physics this time. It's quite optimized too, and barely hitches even after hours of gameplay and tens of thousands of individual missile trajectories calculated. On the surface this a rather slow RTS with a big barrier to entry being the shear amount of information thrown at you and the variations in tech trees. This is a good and bad thing, as you will really need to read a lot and learn the dozens of systems within the game loop. But each advancement accelerates the gameplay towards the end game where titans and superweapons prevent stalemates from happening. As a lower level player you can use a laid-back speed to appreciate shiny ships go boom. As a higher level player you will push the game to an overwhelming assault and knock at your enemy's back door with an array of really specific stats for the occasion. This is one of my favorite games of all time. However it takes a certain type of person who is somewhere between an RTS wizard and a spreadsheet geek, but not quite either of those. It's simply not fast enough to be "competitive" like StarCraft, but it's got a lot of management aspects to it that make you feel like you really are conquering your new empire. I highly recommend it, but it will definitely only appeal to a niche audience.

I love the strategy of this game. It is a very fine balancing act of aggressive expansion for resources vs over extending yourself and being unable to hold on as you are out manufactured or out researched. Love it to death. Unfortunately as much fun as I have Sins 2 suffers the same major flaw of Sins 1. You have been playing for three hours. You have lost 20 minutes ago, but don't know it yet. It will become apparent you have lost over the next hour. It will take minimum one hour after that to finish losing.

as a longtime player of Sins 1, this game is honestly everything i couldve asked for a faithful sequel, it adds new features that make the same gameplay i enjoyed from the first game, but takes it more in depth, but not enough to really gut the simplified nature of this RTS, the graphics are good, nothing on the levels of homeworld remastered but pretty enough to cause my computer to chug and heat up lol, if you are expecting a radical new level of gameplay, this sequel isnt it, its still Sins of a Solar Empire, but now its got some awesome new additions, while being very faithful to the original game that I always liked.

Seems pretty good so far. well optimized and looks beautiful. I'm a much bigger fan of stellaris tbh, but it is nice to get into a more fun-action version of that with the boys. The only thing I want though are mods for different ships and alliance. I want to play as the covenant or UNSC so bad. ADDITION: This game would really be an 11/10 if they did a collab with Halo, warhammer 40k, IDK fukin' legos (for shits and giggles), transformers.... Stellaris empires (like import them, collab with paradox))???? I'd be hyped about this game because i'd buy the DLC. new behaviors, animations, particle effects. one time per game black hole bomb. covenant glassing,

One of the greatest PvP RTS games out there. Only thing I can say about it, is, that it is not a revolutionary change from SoaSE 1 +DLCs gameplay-wise. The improved engine is an upgrade when looking at the future of this game, but it should not influence your opinion on how the game is right now. But if you liked the first one, or like RTS games in general, its a definite buy.

A solid modern take on the original, with enough new features to make it feel fresh without losing the core character of Sins. An excellent RTS in general, with nice visuals and a clean interface, strategic and tactical gameplay and a good sense of progression through each game.

Culture isn't as meaningful as the first game. The ship customization buffs are pretty cool. All in all still very enjoyable. They tone down the super weapons. Let be honest the TEC planetary canon was pretty O.P. I am looking forward to the expansions.

Gameplay Mechanics: 10/10 Narrative: 5/10 Graphics: 8/10 Sound and Music: 8/10 Replayability: 9/10 Innovation: 8/10 Sins of a Solar Empire II absolutely nails the large-scale real-time strategy experience. If you’re into space 4X games with tactical fleet battles, empire management, and a slick interface, this is easily one of the best out there. It builds on everything the first game did right—and improves on nearly every front. Gameplay mechanics are flawless. The real-time-with-pause design strikes a perfect balance between depth and control. You’ll manage fleets across vast star systems, queue up tech research, micromanage planetary economies, and respond to threats on multiple fronts. It's all super smooth, and every layer—from colonization to battle tactics—feels finely tuned. Score: 10/10. Narrative is minimal. Each faction has a bit of lore baked in, and there’s a loose background to the galactic conflict, but this is a sandbox game at its core. If you’re looking for a deep story, you won’t find it here. Score: 5/10. Graphics look great. Ship models are detailed, the lighting in space battles is fantastic, and planets and structures are cleanly rendered. It’s a modern look without being too flashy or over-designed. Score: 8/10. Sound and music are immersive and satisfying. The soundtrack blends atmospheric sci-fi vibes with tension-building tracks, and sound effects—especially during large battles—are punchy and polished. Score: 8/10. Replayability is high. With different factions, tech trees, map setups, and player strategies, no two games feel the same. Multiplayer and mod support add even more life to the experience. Score: 9/10. Innovation builds subtly on the original. It doesn't rewrite the formula, but smarter fleet AI, better performance, improved UI, and deeper planetary systems make this a real leap forward. Score: 8/10. Bottom line: Sins of a Solar Empire II is a space RTS dream come true. Massive battles, deep empire-building, and perfect pacing make it a game you can sink hours into without realizing. A must-play for strategy fans.

This plays more like Warcraft and AoE instead of traditional 4X games, you will spend most of the time in combat and studying fleet composition, almost everything from resources to research is designed to supplement combat, so it's more of a easy to learn but harder to master type of RTS. Visuals and graphics are great, every weapons is modeled and simulated on the ship, which makes the combat a lot more interesting than other Excel games. There are some downsides, the price is on the higher end in term of content to price ratio, and AI arts are incredibly ugly, and the camera movement is currently a bit glitchy sometimes. Overall it's a fun RTS with space theme, but not a real 4X space sim. For me personally, It's best to be played after spending 10 hours setting up trade routes in X4, just for a change of pace and much needed dopamine hit from the faster-paced space battle.

The AI art is ugly and pervasive. You can't not see it in almost every graphical element, leading to every interaction requiring you to see something generated by a computer instead of a person.

This game is just Sid Meier's Starships with a fresh coat of paint and real time vs turn time. You actually have more control in Starships over what happens during the battles which are more like chess. Move and countermove. Sins only lets you direct where your ships attack, if you choose to elect that option. Most of it happens automatically with very little input from you. Even research is semi-automated. Ship upgrades are automated.Click click... Ship go threre. Start that process. Diplomat or don't. Its not un-fun, much like Sims or Cityscape. But I doubt it will be a game I come back to for repeated plays, despite the eventually promised DLC.

More like a minor DLC or large patch change from the first game, not enough to justify a complete sequel game. Some quirks still present too, such as fleet ships switching targets to when no effects to do that are present, meaning you'll have to keep telling your fleet to focus a specific unit until its dealt with.

i want to love it but they some how recreated the OG sins but at the same time it's just shallow it feels unsatisfying to win the AI is bad i dunno what they did i think they did recreate the OG sins as in none of the content you expect in rebellion is in 2 i guess they will add all the features of sins rebellion with dlc who knows but right now it's not there yet leave it bake for another year i would say
