Made me ball me eyes out. Genuinely the BEST story game i have played so far. Everything about this game is amazing, the story, the mechanic, i actually cant comprehend how good this game is. This is something you have to experience firsthand.

Before you eyes is such a wonderfully unique game with a somber yet heartwarming story. Its a short and sweet game that doesn't pull its punches when trying to hit you in the feels and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a new reason to cry.

This game connected me to my younger self and my relationship with my mom in ways I can't really explain. This game also caught me bawling my eyes out; This game is a masterpiece.

Beautiful story. Beautiful game. But the game keeps struggling with my blinking. I had to recalibrate a couple time, maybe it's cuz I'm Asian.

Genuinely one of the best story games I've played, with a nice mechanic. The only thing is that the eye capture system was super inconsistent with me, so i had to switch to the mouse controls halfway through. But, if you're deciding whether or not you should get it, I would highly suggest.

a game that deserves more hype. From a cool art and creative direction, to the ability to blink in game.

Before Your Eyes is a mediocre game with a clever gimmick. I suspect the player's tolerance for the story hinges a lot on how well the gimmick works for them, and for me it didn't. Whether it's because I wear glasses or move around a lot, there'd be stretches of a few minutes where every blink tracked, but then other sections where I needed to move my head around to find the perfect spot to get it to register, or it'd register a movement as a blink, and then I'd be back in the calibration window to reset the controls. The game took me about 80 minutes to complete, of which probably about 20 of them was faffing about with the controls mid-game, which is not really ideal for immersion. The blinking is a cool gimmick when it works, though, especially when the "close your eyes to make the story progress" mechanic is introduced. It's a fantastic idea to force the player to choose to either listen to the story or see it, but not both at the same time. Unfortunately even when the mechanics do work you're still going to be sitting through the same old "death is sad" storyline we've seen rehashed over and over again in indie games, and this one has absolutely nothing new to say. The smash cut nature of the game means you don't really get to know anyone and there is no reason to care about any of the characters. On a side note it's weirdly jarring to get so frequently misgendered in a game that tries so hard to get you to feel you are embodying the main character. (This is one game that would've been very easy to add a pronoun selector, since the main character is a disembodied spirit whose face and body is never seen.) Anyway, neat idea, but it's not really worth playing unless you are curious about the blink mechanic. There are much better story games out there.

More than a game, but an experience that had me clutching for a few more moments, all while holding tears back as the cruel passage of time progressed. Glad that my experiences align with others in the reviews, revelling at the masterpiece that this game is when experienced firsthand.

Before Your Eyes is a poignant symphony of time, memory, and emotion, told not through buttons or joysticks, but through the blink of an eye. Like pages fluttering in a windstorm, moments pass too quickly—joy, sorrow, love—all captured in fragments, fleeting yet vivid. The game weaves a tender tapestry where every blink feels like a heartbeat, each scene a fragile echo of a life once lived. It is not just a story; it is a quiet meditation on how time slips through our grasp, even as we try to hold on. Through its innovative mechanic, Before Your Eyes transforms the act of looking into a profound emotional journey. The player becomes both observer and participant, helplessly watching memories vanish with each involuntary blink. It is a beautifully tragic reminder that the most important moments in life often go unnoticed until they’ve already passed. More than a game, it is a poetic experience—a mirror held up to the soul, asking not whether you played it well, but whether you truly lived.

Amazing story telling, can be difficult to calibrate the eyes for people with glasses just because the monitor's reflection ended up blocking the eyes. I tilted my glasses down at an angle slightly to remove the reflection and it worked fine. 10/10 game.

Games are sometimes misunderstood and dismissed as just dopamine releasers and wastes of time. This game, as others of the genre, demonstrate that games can, and are, an artistic vessel in which talented people can tell a deep story in original ways never before imagined. Before Your Eyes not only is super original with its idea, but executes it in a way impossible to make better. Yes, it might be short, but that's not the point. This is one of those games that lets you feel and interact a story in ways no other medium can't even get close to. I recommend it to play it alone at night. You won't regret it.

I cannot recommend this game enough, an incredibly engaging, immersive and emotional experience. In 90 minutes it's managed to have become one of the, if not the most special games that I have ever played and I feel like a piece of it will stay with me forever.

I bought this game on a whim with my only knowledge about being it’s good and apparently sad. Believe me that sure was an understatement. I haven’t cried at a piece of media in a long long time. You will Weep playing this game. This game is to be played in one sitting. While playing forget who you are. This game feels so incredibly real. The mechanic of blinking to move time forward is so incredibly cruel. You find yourself struggling to keep your eyes open to not lose that moment. 11/10 please play

Really great game. The story was really well written and the art direction was perfect. Don't look anything up and just play the game if you feel even slightly interested, there is a huge twist that if spoiled would ruin the most impactful moment in the game. Easy recommend for sure.

This game was genuinely one of the best games I've ever played in my life as I havn't really gotten this emotional or felt this kind of emptiness after finishing a game before. So to get this certain feeling was really something different to say the least. That's was what I loved about it. Not to mention the beautiful artwork that this game was made in and the whole blinking mechanic that I havn't seen anywhere before which made the game to have a whole other level and unique type of interaction. 10/10, Can't really find any other improvements to make with this game.

The ability to make someone cry through it's subtlety and simple concept. Last time I played this my own brother hadn't actually got cancer yet however it happened soon after. The incline to play this game again since was heavy. It's so good

The blinking mechanic really took me into the world and the story told is fantastic. Not a long game by any means but certainly one of the most engaging and fun games I have played in awhile. I highly recommend the game for anyone that cares for good story being told in great ways.

I am not exaggerating when I say that this is one of the most touching and genuinely beautiful games I have ever played. The gameplay circles around living another person's life through your own eyes, and blinking is the main way you interact with the game. This gameplay concept creates a sense of immersion that I have never had with any other game, to the point where I felt like the character itself. It was an experience, moreso than a game, but one that I would say is worth every penny. I don't think a game has ever made me feel this way, the emotions are uncontrollable by the end of the game. Genuine masterpiece.

i went in completely clueless expecting some puzzles or something complicated that would use the blinking mechanic and once it all began and i saw it wasnt really what i thought it would be i laid back and let myself get completely immersed in the story. I had a little bit of trouble setting up webcam since i wore glasses but once i took them off everything worked perfectly. The way it flows is just so mind boggingly smooth i forgot i was playing a game at some points throughout the story. i wanted to stay in every single moment for as long as possible trying to sink in as much of the story as i could and even then sometimes i just couldnt. Such is life for it doesnt wait for no one. i wont say anything about the story for i leave that to the person reading this review and considering if they wanna give it a shot. Trust me on this one, you wont regret it. The art was unique and not something i expected but was very comfortable and easy to get in step with. the soundtrack was amazing and when i say amazing i mean Outstandingly beautiful and touching. Almost as much as the entire story. i got the game outside of a sale thinking to myself man what a bummer but honestly the developers and all the talanted people behind this masterpiece deserve it. From the innovative gameplay mechanic to every little detail in enviroment mood and setting this game exceeded my expectations. Sincerely wish there were more games like this one that have an eye opening effect and after youre done youre just sitting there thinking and reconsidering everything as you know it. A shining gem among the tons of characterless games people put out in todays day and time.

So BEAUTIFUL game first of all. I cried at the ending (no spoilers!) and I loved Ernie. The one thing I'd critique is not being able to NOT befriend the neighbour kid. At the end both options the wolf gives us is positive and I wish we could say "She meant nothing to me" etc as on my first PT I ignored her completely as I didnt really like her. Call me what u want but I was one of those "School is for learning not for making friends" kids. I was bullied and socially awkard and the girl remind me too much of those kids I hated ie not paying attention and disrespecting the teachers.

What an absolute masterpiece. The game lies to you at the beginning. This is NOT a game about blinking. It is a game about memory and its fragility, about family, about life. It made me bawl so much. The integration of art, music, storytelling, all aspects of the game are perfectly woven together with deep characters . I did not even put 2 hours into the game, and it has moved me SO profoundly.

This is hands down one of the best games I've ever played. By the end I was bawling my eyes out so hard, it kept switching scenes because of my blinks. Seriously to whoever hasn't played it before, just do it. It's so so worth it.

I didn't think I'd have such an emotional response to this game, but hearing your mom say that being you is enough, really spoke to me. I'd never thought I'd love a game more than Hollow Knight or Celeste, but here we are. It's worth its price tag and more, and I recommend this game to anyone and everyone, regardless of your favorite genre, or even a gamer at all. It's message is something I think everyone needs to hear, even once. 10/10.

When I completed this game I was left speechless. A story so beautiful, so emotional and so real, I couldn't even distract myself from continuing. I really think it's one of most beautiful expirience that you could live through and the best part it's not that long. It is game for around 1-2 hours at max, but I swear, you'll love every blink of this time

Amazing Game. Many times throughout playing the game I was reminded of memories I haven't thought about in so long and that alone was enough to be an amazing game, but after the plot twist and the message given at the end of the story which to me was about how we can chase whatever fantasies we want our lives to take, but it's important to realize how good our lives already are.

My friend recommended this game to me and smiled the whole time while I played it. I wouldve rather been taken outback and be put down like old yeller. Two in the heart, one in the head. I havent sobbed like this since I was thirteen years old. This game ripped my soul out and told me to go fuck myself. Whoever made this game really needs a check in with a psychiatric facility. Amazing game though

Before Your Eyes is most likely the only game I'll ever post a review about, but its by far the most personal story game I've ever played. As someone who relates to the story more than he'd want to, this is some of the best representation of illness as a child I've seen in media. It's the only game that's ever made me cry, so far at least, and by far the best experience I've had playing a game as short as it is. The mechanic of blinking in real life is amazing, haven't played anything like it before. Before Your Eyes is a beautiful, emotional and personally relatable short story game that captures the essence of becoming grievously ill before you've even gone through puberty. 10/10
