Karate Survivor

It's a decent bullet heaven/survivor-like game. It don't think it has as much replay value as others in the genre, the only variation in gameplay comes from the moves you pick. However, the upgrade paths for those moves are linear. The moves don't actually change a lot about how you play the game either, it just results in minor differences like mid-combo positioning. The upgrades you pick during the game are just stat boosts which is quite a boring system that doesn't add much to the gameplay. The game is quite difficult when you first start playing but once the gameplay clicks and you have a few permanent upgrades under your belt it becomes laughably easy, even on the highest difficulties. I genuinely could not tell what difference the higher difficulties made over the default one. It's dirt cheap and you'll probably get a couple hours of fun out of it so i would recommend it overall. Even though it lacks depth, it's well worth the price.

As of June 25th 2025, Runs well on the deck ! No bugs whatsoever It's a bullet hell with a twist. You collect combo parts and then you'll have sequences when you deal damage with your combo and sequences when you do 0 damage. So you'll need to use environment damage or dodge during those "down" sequences". It requires a bit of time to get use to the gameplay but the game is really fun and well crafted. It will definitely make you remember any Jacky Chan action movies from the 90's. Even, the main character's sprite looks like a young version of him. Really enjoyable, nice grind, good music and nice twist for that genre. If you're into bullet hell games, you can safely buy this one !

I hope they make a sequel, but next time it's based on Jet Li. Amazing game so far. I had to stop watching it because it's clearly inspired by Rumble in The Bronx, and I can't take it any more. Watching it now.

Very fun, simple, and addictive rogue-like game. For 2.5 eur it is a steal.

A solid new VS-style roguelike. It’s a bit short, but the combat is fantastic. I had the most fun experimenting with different fighting styles and combos. Definitely a fun, fast-paced experience, even if it doesn’t last too long.

Loving it. Jackie Chan: The Roguelike. It's a little thin on content. Only the one character and five maps. Only a couple map challenges to do during runs. But there's plenty of build variety. No idea if the devs have any plans to release more stuff or if this is the whole thing. Well worth picking up if you enjoy the genre, especially if on sale.

I love the concept of making your own combos and many of the environmental interactions are pretty clever but only being able to attack horizontally unarmed and the often huge gaps between moves early on can get tedious. Fighting a big brute in the first few levels of Endless with just your 1 pathetic attack some 20+ times to take him down is kind of ridiculous.

Karate Survivor has a lead character that heavily resembles Jackie Chan and some of the smoothest character animations ever designed for a bullet hell game. If those aren't big enough selling points for you, then nothing else will convince you to play it. The game takes a while to get to grips with as you spend several sessions unlocking additional combos that aids with expanding upon your move sets. It is because of this that I feel that the starting difficulty, Fighter, which is meant to be the easy difficulty is in some cases more difficult than the Master difficulty. I found that I could usually maximise at least one or two of my chosen moves on the Master difficulty, where as this never really happened on the Fighter difficulty. It is also possible that I may have got better with the game over time, but it will be interesting to see if this is still the case when I eventually play on the Legend difficulty. I'm really enjoying my time with Karate Survivor and I'm looking forward to experiencing the rest of the game once I have unlocked the Legend difficulty.

Fun game for an hour or two but gets boring fast. Great little nostalgia bump, but the game is really easy and practically plays itself after you get some upgrades and figure out the combo cards.

Play a lot of this game when the original demo came out in 2024. It was addictive but had some problems. Can happily say it is much better now and I am glad I gave it another chance. Worth more than the price!

I cannot recommend this game enough if u are into the survival games. Yes would be nice to have extras, like characters or maybe minor changes to the character, visual mostly

This little gem needs more recognition. I picked it up just out of boredom of not wanting to play much of anything else and figured it was gonna be another one of those games that you buy but never play after the first hour or so. I was so wrong! It is creative, and well made. You get to pick cards and create combos as you level up, some are powerful but force you to get closer to the enemy (not a good thing. That's how you get hurt) and finding a combo that works well is really satisfying! I'm playing it on a Legion Go and haven't had any issues with performance, even when there are tons of enemies on screen at the same time. Super glad I gave it a chance.

Purchased on sale but would have paid full price. If you're into the survivor genre of games this is a must own. Very feature complete with tons of upgrades and unlockables to keep you hooked for hours.

not many levels but challenging enough. fun to watch all the different moves and feels like an homage to many martial arts films

Terrible Survivor mechanics and sketchy hit boxes. Looks good though.

When you pick up energy drink for ultimate attack, your character stops attacking AND HOLD IN PLACE - immediately get ganked by enemies. What kind of game design is this? Very very grindy - you get no progress unless you spend 50 hours unlocking your skills. Don't waste time on this crap.
