After playing Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth, I decided that I would buy Team Ladybug games sight unseen. I'm glad I did, because Blade Chimera is an absolute gem. The gameplay is strong (literally the closest you can get to cyberpunk Symphony of the Night) and the story is entertaining to the point that I would watch this as an anime. It's an indie game so of course there are going to be some issues (for one, the difficulty needs to be turned up), but overall I've really enjoyed my time and would love to see some kind of sequel in the future.

"An exceptional Metroidvania with god-tier gameplay—but the plot falls flat." Blade Chimera blew me away in terms of gameplay. The combat is incredibly fluid, and once you get a handle on your main weapon, secondary firearm, and soul familiar, you feel unstoppable. Maybe even too unstoppable. By the time I hit level 45, not even the final boss posed a real threat. The mechanics are so well-designed that they almost work against the challenge curve—once everything clicks, it’s like you’re breaking the game in half. One ability in particular—the early-game teleport—really broke the sense of exploration for me. Part of the fun in Metroidvanias is mentally bookmarking locations and revisiting them once you unlock new abilities. But with teleport, you can just mark a spot and zip back anytime. It removes that satisfaction of organically re-discovering past areas. It’s a cool mechanic, but feels more suited for a New Game+ mode than a first playthrough. Visually, the game is a masterpiece. The pixel art is pushed to its limits in the best way—highly detailed, full of atmosphere, and stylistically distinct. The setting is rich and full of potential… which brings me to the story. Unfortunately, the plot just doesn’t live up to the rest of the game. The protagonist is underdeveloped, side characters feel like placeholders, and while the final boss has something resembling an arc, the reasons for the conflict are muddled and unconvincing. The ending left me disappointed—it didn’t feel earned, and honestly made the story's shortcomings even more obvious. Still, despite the weak narrative, I strongly recommend Blade Chimera for the gameplay alone. If you love combat-heavy Metroidvanias, this is one of the most satisfying I’ve played in years.

It's amazing, the developers took metroidvania and mixed it with gun action. The gameplay and graphics are the strongest point in the game. Skill tree upgrades did have destroyed the sense of exploration which is the main feature of a metroidvania game, and with the addition of teleportation kinda made the game easy to navigate at will for some. but to appeal to wider audience and make things smooth for side mission is actually a good feature. Story is alright, but the OST a banger. 8/10

This has the most unique solutions for the gated area progression I have ever seen in a metroidvania where is it based off character leveling. Sure, it has the necessary plot points on the map you need to get through but 100% is so very unique that I have to suggest this game on that merit alone.

Blade Chimera – A Stunning Original from Team Ladybug I highly recommend this game. Team Ladybug has absolutely outdone themselves with Blade Chimera. This is their first game featuring a completely original story and cast of characters, and they’ve knocked it out of the park. The narrative is engaging, and I genuinely enjoyed following it from start to finish. The art style is simply breathtaking, beautiful, fluid, and full of personality. It’s clear the developer is evolving with each release, and Blade Chimera is proof of that growth. Every detail feels thoughtfully crafted, and the gameplay complements the story perfectly. The way the character traverses the world is genuinely fun and innovative, it adds a whole new layer to exploration and keeps the gameplay fresh throughout. It’s one of those mechanics that just feels good to use. I loved this game. It’s a strong step forward for Team Ladybug, and I’m excited to see what they do next.

Floors and steps will make you slippery, causing your jumps to fail. If the sword is exposed to ultraviolet light, it will die and gameover. If you shoot a gun underwater you will die and gameover. With knockback and a short period of invincibility, you will be surrounded by enemies and beaten to death and gameover. The game is not "metroidvania" style of gameplay. The price is too high for the quantity and gaming experience.

Хороший, хоть и линейный метроид. Графика приятная, играется задорно. Сюжет.. он как бы есть.

Although there are rough edges, I highly recommend this title for people who find metroidvanias too hard.

Team Ladybug are basically experts at Metroidvania games by now and if you haven't played Touhou Luna Nights or Deedlit In Wonder Labyrinth, you're doing yourself a disservice. Blade Chimera is their latest game it's certainly one of their most polished titles. The pixel art is, as always, fantastic. Combat is fun and fluid, with this game being balanced around the blade your main character wields - it can become a weapon, a platform, or even a shield to protect you from projectiles. The only issue I have is that the game is very, very easy right up until maybe the last two or three bosses, which are quite the difficulty spike compared to everything that came before. Overall, I highly recommend Blade Chimera - along with the other Team Ladybug Metroidvania games.

ok not really sure what to say, yes ladybug make good metroidvanias that are fun to play, but here i feel that they tought in make new mechancis without bother in see if work or not work those mechanics. Lets start with the good things. 1. game have good movement, the plataform part is well made and bossess (except the real last one) are well made, sometimes not clear what you have to do but after a lucky strike you learn. 2. story is consistent with ost of old games, as always the pixel arts is great. 3. Well enough good for hope for their next metrodivania after all I had bought all their games and hope can buy more in the future. now the bad... yup too many bad things. 1. the auto-target is bad, true you can take it out of weapons but not lumina basicly you wanted attack front but there is other idea that game wants.. sorry try again. 2. A lot of dark things on game, basicly guide is weird in game a lot of the things I discovered by luck can be learned a lot better, other read but never check after finish game, example... misslbe things map, in ender lilies great game, at end tive you not only % of completion but the map changes depending if there are missed things or not. 3. See the possible of use the best item in game too soon basicly the real last boss (optional for first ending) kill me in 2 hits always, so bought all the pots I could and still have items that give me invencibility that used to clear map, is not that I not like learn bossess, is that die in two hits, reading all again is not fun at all. So well I think if you read a guide when stuck, is good enough for you enjoy it so will give it a yes.

Good classic Metroidvania, with very good storytelling. I wish it was longer! Given the ending I'm thinking there *may* be a sequel, but we'll see. I'll definitely pick it up. Only complaint is the button layout is a little wonky, but you get used to it.
