It's a relaxing city builder game with an interesting twist that gets repetitive after a couple of levels. I also found the recycling phase to be kind of a hassle in some scenarios which felt unnecessary. It's not a bad game it's simply that since it has no story and the gameplay doesn't have much depth to it unless you fall in love with the game the charm may not last long. 6/10

I am finishing this game feeling sad that it's already over. It's a masterpiece, an extremely relaxing and satisfying game with a surprising amount of strategy to it.

I recommend Terra Nil, its an advancing game, thinking of solutions in placement of objects ... I like the idea of turning a wasteland block into something life supporting BUT - this game is tooooo dam short and therefore kills the value of its price drastically. I do recommend it ... BUT do not buy it at its current price, wait for it to be on special for at least a 70% discount. Also check your pc specs ... important!!!

Really cool "city builder" with very unique build mechanics. I have started on max custom difficulty (everything at 200%) which was impossible to play but I got a very good understanding of game balance. Also there is a bug where your custom difficulty parameters (specifically starting amount and all checkboxes are not saved - PLZ FIX). I highly recommend this game as a person who almost managed the hardest custom difficulty it is very easy to grasp but there are A LOT of small nuances that can be utilized to optimize your builds. I will update my review later. Not sure if it can keep me entertained since there is limited amount of buildings and all replayability comes from maps but lets see.

If you are looking for a game to switch your brain off and relax, this is the game for you. The stunning graphics of various types of flora and fauna are simply a delight to look at. On top of that, it feels "healing" in a way, as you de-contaminate land, turn polluted rivers and seas into clean water and watch deers, bees, bears and otters wander around.

Decent game. Especially if you enjoy conservation. The further levels are actually challenging and require more planning.

Chill puzzle solver that has a bit of flexibility in how you go about completing a level. The only downside is mid-game saves outside of checkpoints are not available, whilst there is an undo, but the undo is only for the last move. Entertaining and relaxing.

Really fun game, visuals are stunning and sound design makes everything super satisfying. Sometimes it can confusing to set stuff up, but you have the choice to control difficulty. Would reccomend!

A lovely little game that is a great puzzle/problem solver but still very relaxing to play. Transforming destroyed ecosystems into living spaces for wildlife is the goal. The game has a few hiccups every once in awhile but overall a great game and perfect for a cozy afternoon.

Do you like puzzle games? Do you like them to have twists and turns that challenge you, but don't make you want to hate yourself? This game is charming, soothing and relaxing to play. My only complaint is that there isn't more of it. That being said, I can understand that it might get repetitive after awhile. It might be nice if there was a free-play option, or more expansive worlds or something. As it is, I felt like this game hit a sweet spot where it felt like I was done with it. That's super rare.

I liked the game. Managed to 100% it playing very casually in about 35 hours. Pretty graphics and nice gameplay. I encountered one glitch where I couldn't remove one last building from the map, but it was easily solved from settings. If you like to fiddle around and do relaxed puzzles, this is for you.

Really good and chill game. Only issue seems to be not so great optimisation for fairly simple graphics, most of the time it's fine but sometimes the game will just slam the gpu.

The game was an engaging take on a strategy game. It is quite challenging to build up a functioning industry with the constraint of having to deconstruct it later on. But I love the sustainable eco-friendly messaging a lot – it just puts a different spin on a genre that is usually about exploiting and exhausting as many resources as quickly as possible.

Escape into a peaceful realm where your main objective is to add a dash of colour and life into an otherwise drab world. This game is the perfect balance between strategy and ASMR. DO NOT MISS this hidden gem.

Playing the game on the standard difficulty wasn't enjoyable for me: The resources weren't limitless, but it was nearly impossible to have enough to finish the level, which made the game feel like a chore. You had your goals to complete and randomly clicking around to finish them was easy. However, the hardest difficulty changed the game for me. With both the resources being limited and the costs of buildings increasing, you have to think and strategize. There are 3 phases in each level and in the hardest mode, if you fail, you can simply restart that phase and start again; instead of starting from zero. I suggest playing the first level or first two levels on easy to get to know the game and then simply switching to the hardest mode! It requires thinking yes but isn't this game supposed to be a puzzle-strategy game? The only thing that bothers me is that audio gets laggy when it is about to rain in the game. It turns the moment off; hope devs fix it!

Excellent game, and definitely worth your time if you're into puzzle-citybuilders like Dorfromantik or the like. The graphics are are a 10/10 blend of realistic and artistic, music / sound design is just right, and once you're finished with an area you often leave it so pretty I've set screenshots of it as my homescreen. The gameplay can vary from relaxing to nerve-wracking to outright impossible depending on where you set your difficulty, and the core loop is enjoyable - and very much replayable if you appreciate it for what it is. Terra Nil is at its best when you want to stretch yourself and restore landscapes to as much beauty as you can. If you'd prefer to merely beat the level and move on, this one probably isn't for you. But if the restoration itself is what you want, then this is exactly what you're looking for.

Terra Nil is a masterpiece hiding in plain sight. Its store page and game-play previews barely scratch the surface of what it truly offers. This isn’t just a twist on a city builder. It’s a complete re-imagining of the genre—a reverse city builder, where your mission isn’t expansion, but restoration. It’s about rebuilding ecosystems from barren wastelands, and leaving no trace behind. Each map is a procedurally generated slice of a ruined world, waiting for you to breathe life into it. From tropical reefs to arid wastelands, every biome demands its own delicate balance. You're not placing buildings for people—you’re sculpting habitats for frogs, fish, deer, wolves, birds, and bees and much more. Every animal you attract is a reward earned through thoughtful ecological balance: wetlands for amphibians, meadows and forests for herbivores, and predator-prey dynamics that echo real-world ecosystems. And that’s the magic. Terra Nil makes you care—not about scores, or wins, or leaderboards—but about balance, beauty, and biodiversity. It’s strategy without conquest. Satisfaction without noise. A soft puzzle with a beating ecological heart. The challenge is perfectly tuned—never overwhelming, but never trivial. It invites replay, not just for perfection, but for the joy of trying again. And when you finish a map? It feels like completing a work of art. A vibrant canvas once dead, now alive with motion and color. Visually, the game doesn’t shout—it glows. The hand-painted aesthetic is deeply immersive. Watching life return to a land you restored isn’t just pretty—it’s emotional. If you only looked at the screenshots, you’d never guess how good this feels to play. Terra Nil is one of the most underrated, soulful games out there. It's meditative, meaningful, and rewarding. An absolute must-play. One of the most quietly powerful games of its kind. Don’t miss it.

A cozy puzzle game with a nice message. Fairly short, as it took 12 hours to 100% the game and about 5 hours to beat it. The HUD makes the game feel mostly intuitive and add a little bit of thought everything comes together nicely. Teaches cause and effect really well, as everything you do, can effect something else you may need to do later.

Honestly one of the coziest games I've ever played and you do need to think ahead a little to make sure you alot enough space for biomes to overlap foes species that need more than one to be satisfied. Finished in two sittings, couldn't put it down as I chased 100% for each area. Decent replayability if you wanna try different tactics and methods for a map completion. Everyone's playthrough will likely feel defrent due to individual design choices for biome layouts.

Not my type of game. I like the puzzling aspect of it, but UI and tooltips are not really clear. Each mission consists of three phases. 1) Build buildings to create an environment for biomes to grow 2) grow the biomes 3) extract from the planet by collecting the garbage. The whole phase 3 sucks. It's tedious, doesnt add value and is simply frustating. Developers should had designed something different here.

A relaxing puzzle game, though there no definitive definitive solution you are still encouraged to make careful and deliberate moves to clean and terraform the landscape into a thriving eco system. There might also be a slight misanthropic undertone but let that slide. Leave all trace of humanity of behind and enjoy the serene world that you have made.

Review after 100% The gameplay loop is solid, with enough changes to the formula for each region. There are only four regions, with 4 sub areas, which may seem short but I think the game does a good job of not overstaying its welcome. The endgame area does have a new step to the process that is a bit tedious, but thankfully you only have to do it once. Overall I enjoyed how chill it was, how only a couple of trial and error moments allowed me to grasp each new mechanic. I played through the normal difficulty (I think) and found it pretty manageable for someone who doesn't play a ton of grid based strategy games. And the twist of restoring nature was nice, though it took me a region to finally grasp all the ways to make the dang animals happy. All the achievements save the rarest one were done in the process of normal gameplay. If you really want to, it just took one curated session for me to play around and get the final one. Solid game for the time required.

I gave it an hour, but it didn't grab me. I got frustrated trying to manage the happiness of the animals. I got 11/12 species happy, but the 12th species was giving me real trouble, and it wasn't clear to me how to fix the situation. In addition, the game seems to me to be more of a puzzle solver than a city builder, so I think it's just not for me. Your mileage may vary.

This game is really fun and I am enjoying it very much! One small thing- Some of the maps, its not very clear on what you should do with some of the tools and I had to go on google to look up what I am supposed to do. The pop up info is kind of vague at times.

A kind of puzzle game, but fairly easy once you have some practice. The theming around restoring nature and providing living space for animals is beautifully executed. The visuals and atmosphere are lush and gentle, and there is even an in-game guidebook with fantastic art of nature, animals and buildings.

Such a beautiful game! It's the perfect game for relaxation and just feeling good about yourself. It's also tuned to be quite hard of higher difficulties, so that's a plus if you're looking for challenges. Super recommended for anyone who likes city builders and looking for something unique and creative.

A very enjoyable game. Easy to learn but gets a bit more challenging later on. Satisfying sound effects and visuals, the music is a bit repetitive, but you can turn this off. I love the differerent biomes and different kinds of strategies you have to think of to work with them. And the message of the whole game is just beautiful, help life flourish and then pick up your trash and leave.

Oh dear... First level was super awesome. Then I progressed through the levels and it start felting like I was working, but all I wanted to is relax. And it was very repetitive. It felt like a chore like doing the dishes. I fought the idea was to rebuild a wasted land, not to follow questionable rules about what to do or not. Don't get me wrong, the game isn't difficult. It's just some things that don't make sense. Like not being able to use a technology you already know, or being blocked from placing buildings in apparently suitable areas, and oh lord, take your buildings back by manually clicking in a bunch of monorail points. So the ends up failing bad at being cozy, which was my first impression when I saw the trailer. It also fails to be a "reverse" city builder, which was my second impression. What it ends up being is a puzzle game that doesn't quite work because the challenges are actually boring and repetitive tasks. I really wanted to like this game… but every time I tried to play it again, it felt like I was doing the dishes... something I had to push myself to get through.

I love the music and the restoration aspect, but I wish I could save in the middle of a mission. It means I can only play when I have a large chunk of time. Placing the scrubbers and irrigators got a bit tedious when I had to redo the maps because it didn't save.

Ugh. Look, I'm gonna level with ya here - things are NOT going very well. This planet is a wasteland. The soil is polluted, the water is all dried up, the animals are nowhere to be seen... and the worst part is, it's all our fault. We've got to clean up this mess. I've got a biomass budget for you, if you're feeling up to the task: generate clean power, drill up some aquifers and irrigate the soil, spread some seeds and see if you can get some plant life started. Maybe once we get some leafy green things growing again, the animals will come back. Maybe we can fix this. Oh, and one more thing - once you manage to get your ecosystem balanced out? Just recycle all the leftover machinery. I'm talking 'leave no trace,' I don't want to see a single rusty panel or cable segment left laying around - you got that? No more garbage. No more pollution. Just - just no more, okay? And when you're done... take a minute and really look at what you've accomplished. The trees, the water, the birds, the everything. That's the way it would've been, if we hadn't screwed it up so bad. That's the way it should be. Now get outta here, I've got an airship waitin' on the pad for ya. Nevermind me, I'll be alright. Just some dust in my eye, that's all. I'll be fine.

Terra Nil is a captivating experience that will resonate with fans of strategy, simulation, and environmental games. Its unique blend of resource management, terraforming, and ecological awareness creates a compelling narrative that's both fun and thought-provoking. While it may not revolutionize the genre, Terra Nil sets a new standard for indie game development and is an absolute delight to play. Also, I really enjoyed the animal update. It really added to the experience.

God bless whoever made this phenomenal game. The first time I finished restoring a land, I pressed "appreciate", just sat there for a good 5 minutes and ... honestly just had a good cry. The concept of the game is so simple and humbling. You try to bring life back to a dead world but you don't cling to it and build statues to honor your accomplishments. You leave and take back any hint of your existence so that life is allowed to thrive. That amount of love and compassion to something - that loving kindness to have the strength to provide, give, nurture and then knowing when to leave, placing full trust in something's ability to thrive is a lesson I'm starting to learn in my own life and one that I will forever be discipled to. I'm thankful to the devs for creating this beautiful game and me happening by it in a time in my life where I was willing to listen. It's a beautiful, relaxing game and one that can be played in short bursts or long sessions. The game doesn't force your attention, it gently asks you to stay. 10/10 for me <3
