I'll cut to the chase, if you're looking for some mindless Musou-style mashing fun with Fate characters and are wondering if you should get Fate/EXTELLA first, don't bother and just get this. While EXTELLA Link is something of a direct sequel the plots of the games are almost entirely standalone and do not factor into one another. In truth, EXTELLA Link is pretty light on narrative in general. This one improves upon the first considerably. You're not locked into using a single character for the story paths, there are more characters to play as, characters now have a variety of equippable skills, taking over areas does not require you to fight a tedious amount of fodder before the named enemies show up every time, stuff like that. It's what you're expecting of this style of game. And you can play as Astolfo.

It’s a mindless 1vs100 beat-em-up game with simple mechanics, enough for you to have fun after a long day. Pros + Lots of characters to choose from, even the last boss. + Simple 1vs100 beat-em-up game. + You can be incredibly overpowered and clear missions easily, even on the Very Hard difficulty. + No Multiplayer Achievements even though this game supports multiplayer. + There’s an achievement that requires you to unlock all Install Skills, an equipable orb that grants you stat bonuses. Some Install Skills can only be unlocked through synthesis, and you can sort the Install Skills by those you haven’t synthesized yet. This makes it easier for the players so we don’t have to make a list ourselves. Cons - Similar to above, there’s an achievement that requires you to unlock all Mystic Codes, an equipable garment that grants you Install Skills and 4 usable temporary buffs or heal items that you can activate during combat. Mystic Codes can only be created, and you CANNOT sort the list by those you haven’t created yet. This is somehow inconsistent to the function mentioned above on the Pros. There is a “Last Creation Date” if you check the Mystic Code one at a time, but that means you still have to scroll over the whole list instead of having them already sorted out for easier access. - AI allies rarely helpful. You will do 95% of the time, especially in a mission where you need to destroy an object across the map. You can do it with 1 strike. AI won’t help you with this mission even though you already captured the sector where the object is. - Mission objectives can be repetitive. - You can accept Side Missions from characters to increase their bond level, which you need to do during combat. The progress and completion of these side missions are only visible through the pause menu, so you constantly need to pause just to see their progress. - Some side missions are luck-based if you are overpowered, like Rush Attack side mission. Rush attacks sometimes activate after a combo and ending with a skill that has a chance to do a Rush Attack. So if you are already at max level and overpowered, you will easily defeat the enemy before completing the Rush Attack Side Mission. - Another luck-based side mission is the “Defeat an enemy while on link”. Link is basically an ally nearby. This is luck-based since your ally can be on other sectors, or if you are in the same sector, your ally is not near enough. - The worst luck-based side mission is both mentioned above: “Defeat an enemy using rush while on link”. - Grindy achievements like 100% of the gallery. One contributor to this is the bond level mentioned above where you need to have max level bond levels to all characters to unlock specific cutscenes. - Steam Client needs to be online before you can start the game. Overall, it is a very fun game despite of its cons. I give it 7 out of 10.

Jiggle physics! We were robbed! Imagine what would've been this game with the level of jiggle physics we had in the first Extella. Other than that, great game! Huge improvement from the first one, except for the lore...and jiggle physics.

Silly goofy fun with a prominent side dish of dark, a classic Fate game in a different genre of game to it's usual, a worthy sequel to EXTELLA

It just barely works with keyboard and mouse, the controls are terrible! you also cant choose hot keys, and the camera sensitivty is unbelievably bad. It starts on default at 5, i put it down to 1 and my camera still zooms around my character, targeting is a joke. to say this is dynasty warrior like is a joke. There shouldn't be games on steam like this. Thank god for steams refund policy.

This game isn't exceptional, but it isn't bad. Overall, I would rate it a C+. There isn't anything storyline-wise that grips me, and the gameplay is just capturing a hold point and mashing buttons. It's good enough, though, that I wanted to finish the game at least. There look to be alternative endings and paths, but it wasn't gripping enough for me to decide to spend more time on it. Overall, I recommend it if it's on sale if you want to kill 3-5 hours.

a very fun taste of the musou genre for fate fans! every character is perfectly viable to use, will have lots of dialogue if you want to flesh out your connection with them and come with a unique feel to boot - very few characters feel the same! the game has an adorable artstyle with the renders being some of the best you'll find of any particular character, the ost is slightly repetitive but hits when it needs to and generally never fails to meet the mood of any one scene. the story has a great twist on servant-to-servant dynamics with a fun mystery to unravel if you go in blind, the main servant (charlemagne) is an absolute highlight! enemy variety is rather low and it isn't wrong to call the game occasionally repetitive, however the core loop shouldn't get very stale as long as you are into the fantasy the genre and game itself are trying to sell to you. if a character you like from the fate series is part of the cast, please give fate/extella link a try! if you like the musou genre, please give fate/extella link a try! if you want an engaging action game with hours of hack-and-slash, please give fate/extella link a try!
