Endling - Extinction is Forever

Don't pay attention to the short time I spent playing the game. I bought Endling on sale, but my computer couldn't handle it, so I had to make a refund. However, the game intrigued me enough that I purchased the mobile version, which I successfully completed. And here I am, back to this game on Steam, gathering my thoughts to finally write a review... The game is remarkable for addressing a highly relevant topic: humanity's relationship with nature. We, as humans, often exploit our intellectual superiority to the point of becoming blind to and destroying the beauty of the world around us. Endling tells the story of the last fox on Earth, who fights for survival day by day, night by night — both for herself and her cubs. Over time, the world becomes increasingly engulfed by the destructive force of human indifference. Watching this unfold, you realize just how right the game is. We have no other planet like this one. We live here and now, able to see, hear, and contemplate the miracle before us — life. We are blessed to witness all these animals around us, to admire their uniqueness and exquisite beauty. We see them today, but perhaps tomorrow we won't be able to if we continue to blindly destroy these lives. Just because we are smarter and stronger doesn't mean we should deny them the right to live and play their role in the ecosystem. Something needs to open people's eyes. Endling does an excellent job of that. I wish for this game to reach everyone who is still able to hear. Play it and do something good for the world. Make the world a better place today than it was yesterday. Don't be so clever you forget to be kind.

This is incredibly well written for something with no dialogue. What a heart wrenching tale! I'm going to be checking out the rest of this stuff from this dev for sure. Really enjoyed the story and art style, the gameplay is fun too - interesting mechanics around navigation and keeping the pups alive and fed!

this game is so well made, ive cried literally every time ive played it. It doesnt take very long either, so everyone can and should give it a try.

short game but story it does something to me, great game

After six hours of gameplay, your character dies at the end and there's no way around that. Apparently your cubs can survive in a scene in the end if you save the badger (who I never saw a chance to save???). Just way too frustrating and too much of a downer for the time/money you will spend on the game.

This is one of my favorite games despite the horrors of survival. I had a lot of fun and stressful times keeping all the foxes alive while traversing a devastated landscape. Unique game imo, you'll be punched in the feels regardless. Highly recommend.

the art in this game is absolutely beautiful and it has a rich storyline. i wish it was easier to figure out what your goals are each night, but it was very fun to play through after figuring it out a bit. definitely a tear-jerker, too.

It's a really good game. I've played it over maybe 4 times. It's emotional in some spots and is almost like what will happen in the future. It's got good achievements.
