Pros: + unique audio-visual experience + wordless storytelling + online companion system where anonymous players can join you for silent cooperation Cons: - game is designed to be completed in one sitting (2h approx) - unclear when autosave happens - achievements should not exist in a game like this

i just wish it wasn't so short of a game, but man i love it to bits. the art style, the hidden lore, the music, the feeling of independence, it all feels great!

Great game, however very unstable, crashed multiple times. I had to lower my graphic settings to the minimum in order to finish the game. While researching how to stop the crashing I found posts describing the same crashes from 2020, so this known and seemingly common game breaking bug hasn't been fixed in 5 years.

A gorgeous, artistic and atmospheric game that will take you through a spiritual journey. So relaxing to play through even when replaying with an absolutely stunning soundtrack.

Amazing game. It's always the first game I use to introduce my non-gaming friends to the world of video games and they are always amazed.

Journey is an incredible game, from start to finish. It has an amazing community, and a fantastic story all around--coupled with gorgeous visuals and a breathtaking soundtrack. The pacing is fantastic and every single moment of this game feels meaningful in some way. Despite the linear pathway and merely 2 hours of total runtime, Journey manages to deliver a profound experience that tugs at every single heart-string. But despite the playthrough being so short, this game offers some amazing replayability and an astonishing level of complexity through it's (at first, seemingly simple) flying mechanics. While daunting at first, the community has remained extremely welcoming and kind to everyone, new or old. I have played this game non-stop for the past few weeks, and I still am constantly learning new things everyday. I have met some amazing people through this game, and all of them have been exceedingly supporting. No matter how many times I might fall--or how many times I (embarrassingly) fail a technique--this game always seems to bring me back. (10/10) I truly cannot recommend this game enough, it is worth your time.

A masterwork of both emotive music and stunning visuals, that blend together to paint a beautiful short story. I loved discovering this mystifying and melancholy world, and I have since fallen so in love with the soundtrack so much that it's my favourite of any game (and I'm leaving this review a year after I played it)! Wish there was more to this - I guess I'll have to play Sky: Children of the Light :)

This beautiful game evokes so much thought and emotion, even without dialogue. I was second guessing purchasing this on steam, as I had played it on PS4 a few years ago. While it's not a game anyone would ever play daily/weekly, I think it's well worth coming back to this masterpiece every once in a while for a reminder of what good visual storytelling is. Keep chirping!

Not a super memorable game that will change your life or anything like Outer Wilds, but it's a worthwhile experience to just go through on an evening, similar to what you would get out of watching a movie or visiting an art gallery.

Indeed a beautiful game! Conveys all form of emotions without a word. Companion system is the most unique I have seen so far. I thought it was an AI but turned out it was a real person just like me. You cannot speak to them but I believe actions are enough to convey intentions and feelings. For example they wait for me, I wait for them. You can complete the whole story alone, but companion system is the cherry on top. Really unbelievable! Music is superb! Story is awesome!

What a masterpiece of a game. What a cathartic experience to share a journey with someone else. Random internet stranger, thank you for being so patient with me, helping when I fell behind, showing me the secrets, and doing sightseeing together. It was wonderful. One of my most cherished memories in gaming.

This is one of my favorite games. It's great, love it to pieces. But it has a game-crashing framerate bug that, with no internal way to limit framerate, makes it impossible to finish the game on some modern hardware. (Configure your graphics card externally to limit FPS as a workaround)

took me a minute to realize the random guy chirping at me wasn't an NPC, but an actual person. Thought the AI was just really supportive.

A very fun adventure game with some great movement and seamless game play throughout the chapters. Another fun aspect of the game is the random people you find along the the way. It adds a little comfort to the open world you explore. The music in the game is amazing and adds a lot of atmosphere. Not a challenging game by any means but has enough puzzles and game play you never really get bored your first couple plays. I would highly recommend this game for sure.

Delightful experience. My first contact with this title as a long time ago on PS3, and I hadn't purchased. After giving it a second chance on PC, I regret not having done so earlier. The co-op element is surprising, but entertaining. Certainly a peaceful and astonishingly beautiful game to hop onto any time you've got free. 10/10
Journey – 100% Completion Review
All achievements earned, all glyphs collected, all murals found, white robe unlocked, all multiplayer encounters experienced Journey is a wordless pilgrimage through beauty, loss, and connection. Completing everything does not unlock more challenge. It unlocks more meaning. This is a game that says more in silence than most do with dialogue. You play as a robed traveler crossing a vast desert toward a glowing mountain peak. What begins as solitary becomes something quietly profound when another figure appears beside you — another player, nameless, voiceless, and completely unknown. The movement is the core mechanic. Sliding across dunes, gliding through wind tunnels, and soaring briefly on charged scarf energy is effortless and joyful. Finding all collectibles and symbols extends your scarf and grants access to the white robe, but it never breaks the simplicity. The joy comes from flow, not power. Art and sound elevate everything. The score by Austin Wintory rises and falls with your actions. The environments shift from golden dunes to ancient ruins to cold ascent. Every frame feels intentional. There is no HUD, no markers, just intuition and emotion. The multiplayer design remains unmatched. Completing the game alongside a silent stranger, without knowing who they are, only to see their name at the end, is quietly staggering.

There was something therapeutic in playing this. May be since there are no words in it. It is all just felt. It is a person journey quite literally, as the game only guides, but never holds hands. You also encounter fellow pilgrims, but I was not so lucky, I only met someone at the very end. Obviously no words shared. It was just the journey together. It was not a long game, but it was fun while it lasted. Considering the multiplayer aspect, there is a replayability to this, but I might not return. I am also big fan of Dune world, hence the whole desert theme for the most part of the game also felt quite good.

i always come back to this game. i own it on every other platform, might as well add steam to the list. the way that you encounter other 'wanderers' and can't do anything other than share the journey with each other is really something that stuck with me through the years.

I had a long-distance friend who really loved this game. One day, she left all social media and I haven't been able to contact her in over three years. I wonder sometimes if she's ever come back to this game and if we've ever crossed paths. Wherever you are, I hope you're doing well.

I don't know what more I can say about this game that hasn't been already captured already. It's definitely worth playing this game both for the experience and its place in gaming history. It's also interesting to see how the minds behind it have evolved, as the Art Director, Matt Nava, went on to found Giant Squid and refine the art and style further, while the gameplay loop and idea of working together positively with strangers on the same road grew into becoming Sky: Children of the Light. I'm glad we live in a world where this game was made and embraced as well as it has been.

JOURNEY IS BREATHTAKING Journey is a unique and deeply emotional experience. This game will leave you speechless and probably make you take 100 screenshots just because of how beautiful it is. The story isn’t thrown in your face through lines of dialogue — it’s told through hieroglyphs and subtle puzzle pieces you put together yourself. Honestly, not even a philosopher could describe this game with words. Watch out for spoilers, and good luck!

A very short game, but a truly memorable one. With an incredible art style, fitting music and a thematic level structure, Journey makes for a strong first playthrough. With secrets hidden throughout the levels and the chance to meet up with other journeyers online, Journey has replayability as well. Journey is akin to an interactive story. The story and level design are relatively linear, but offer room to search for hidden easter eggs. It is a calm, engaging with some tense moments. There is no combat, little communication and, as a result, gameplay is very simple - move, look around, make chirping noises and, in some cases, fly. Those looking for mechanical challenge will not find it here. This game is for those who want to follow along with and piece together a compelling, wordless story and those who want to immerse themselves in what feels like an interactive piece of art. As Journey released on Steam in 2020, you may not find as many fellow journeyers as you could years ago, but I've always found at least one friend to accompany me. With just your tunics and capes, you can go on this journey with a total stranger and have a grand time chirping at each other. With such limited communication options, this game is as wholesome as it is artistic. Playing alone or with your new friend(s) are both rewarding options. I recommend picking this game up, especially on sale, if what I've described piques your interest!

This is probably the most resoundingly beautiful game that I have ever played. I was very surprised at how great this was. The game is quite short, and should only take roughly 2-3 hours to beat. I would highly recommend it to anyone. Two minor nitpicks: - The game repeatedly crashed while trying to play it on Steam Deck, however, the game was so surprisingly cinematic that I'm actually glad I chose to play it on PC with a larger screen instead. - The game apparently has an achievement at a certain point towards the end of the game which requires lightning a lantern, which seems to bug out and not allow you to light it, probably because the forced-online design of the game makes the lantern deactivate if the other player in your session moves too far head of you.

Journey is a contemplative game, one that is, for me, meant to be played multiple times, with years between each time you redo the game. Because this game has such an expansive world that you will never find everything on the first time you beat it. This experience is a checkpoint for all gamers who like games that communicate their story through the world. I thank whoever accompanied me through my journey, throught the desert, the underground, the mountains, as they were a welcome surprise, they made my day by just being here, communicating only through melodic call... You shouldnt spoil yourself on this game, its price is low for what you get, it is impossible for me to forget this game and i will keep coming back to it. now do yourself a favor and play this masterpiece, its stunning graphics will never get old, the journey calls you to uncover the secrets of this world

Hey, I just wanted to give a quick recommendation of journey. I feel like in the recent years the general knowledge of this game has fallen to the desolate ruins like what you encounter in your adventure.I just wanted to make a shout out that this game is still on a pedestal. I enjoyed my time with it very much and I think you’ll enjoy it too! I love it when a game, movie or media makes me feel something, and I don't mean in a stimulating way, but in a sense of being. I'm not playing the game, I'm experiencing it. Lost in its wonder and surrealism, Journey is less of a game and more of a feeling. There isn't anything inherently special about the gameplay or the graphics. It's centered around what you feel and express during the game. It's poignant and emotional without being overly dramatic or played out. It's simply being itself, and that makes it so special. You’re Walking through a shimmering sandy wasteland with no real purpose, and it brings such a specific sense of calmness and astonishment. Being followed around by a violin, hearing its strings against the crunching sands makes it feel like an emotional adventure. The feeling of serenity as a fellow wary traveler joins you on the adventure. it’s just wonderful. You become bonded in seconds. It reminds me of being young, like children playing a new game together on the first day of school. It’s beautiful. The backdrops of a bare and desolate landscape filled with haunted ruins complement the soundtrack. You’re seemingly lost in a forgotten realm left to walk the wastes. It’s lonely, it’s peaceful and somehow it feels like a long needed vacation. The maroon and gold color scheme splashed into oppressive blue palettes blends the simplistic and sleek aesthetic into something much more than the sum of its parts. Swimming through the ocean blue sands with aquatic-themed scrolls is mesmerizing and shows just how much variety and emotion is possible through such limited means. I bought Journey on a whim, something that has always been on my Wishlist just waiting for the right moment. If you want a peaceful little bite to end a rough day, I can't recommend it enough. It's meditative, and I cannot stress this enough. It makes you feel emotions that aren't normally associated with video games. It feels like journey, and with a short runtime, I feel like everyone should experience it. Just buy the game whenever you have some spare change. It's worth the price of admission.

This game is such a throwback for me haha, I played it years ago on my dad's PS3 and it's just as fun as I remember :) Soundtrack is incredible, visuals are great, achievements are fun, story is wonderful! The only gripe I have is that getting the co-op achievements is hard since the game is kinda old, but I found some nice companions that helped me along the way! Highly recommend this game for sure!

I love it sm. the art, the music especially at the end, so beautiful. the game is short but i feel like the lore or this is still not completed in my mind, since they never tell it in words, ig ill have to keep exploring as an old sky player, who took forever to actually play journey i actually enjoy it so much more. its so cinematic imo and fosters companionship in a way sky doesnt (or at least not anymore) without any chatting. thanks to the wayfarers who helped me along the way
