Disappointed with this one. That´s coming from a fan of the Risen franchise. The game itself is incredibly fun, even more so than the 2nd game, but after almost 30 hours of playtime, it just bricked itself via a gamebreaking bug. For that reason alone I don´t recommend this one.

Tried getting this working on both 4K PC and the ROG Ally, constant issues, poor scaling, clunky input. It’s 11 years old and it shows. I loved the original, but this one’s a regret. Wish I had played it at launch when expectations were lower. Uninstalling.

Shallow Gratification At first I wanted to give it a thumbs up, but the more I played, the more I understoof that I won't be able to do it. Risen 3 could have been fantastic. It had many concepts that were cool but ended up poorly executed. And the game feels so incoherent that it feels like a work of several studios stiched together. Pros: - Colourful world. - Still feels like a PB game which tried to take the best from all worlds. - Cheesy yet likable voice acting for the most part. And there are truly a lot of things to voice. Cons: 1) Bland. Poor enemy variety. No matter how many hours and exp you are in, you'll be still fighting the same rats, lizards, monkeys and shadows. You see all enemies types in chapter 2 and this is what you'll be seeing for the rest of the game. 2) Story lacks any suspence and brings no immersion. In G1 and G2, and later in Archolos you memorize every npc after the first playthrough. They feel in place, they have things to tell, interesting quests to give. Here? They are fillers. No one memorable. Comrades? Empty. Bosses? They come out of nowhere and, once defeated, fall into oblivion never to be recalled again. Final boss? Who even is that? The world and its inhabitants have less soul than the protagonist. 3) Quests. I haven't been a fan of this method since G3. Every step you make is a quest completed. Activate a teleporter? Dig up a chest? Escort someone to their destination (by instantly teleporting exactly where needed)? Pick up something strange? Congratulations. Quest complete. They are quick, they are similar, they are not memorable, they are endless to the point where they become frustrating. I dont understand the idea where you complete a quest you never accepted or even heard of. And once it's complete you don't even know who to go after the reward to. Or if you forget who the quest giver was, kiss your reward goodbye, you may never speak to that npc again because he only had one quest. 4) Rewards? Useless or nonexistent. Ursegor quest is nothing but trolling. "I, the Titan Lord shall bestow my power upon you". Which means "here are 3 spell scrolls you'll never use". 5) Similar islands. Sometimes I needed to check with the map to remember that island I was on. Jungles and cliffs, Cliffs and jungles. 6) Most of the assets were reused from Risen 2. 7) Cheap fan service with Dragon Snappers, Jack, Mud etc. This is turning into a rant and I could go on. This was clearly made with a thin budget and half of it went into the voice acting. PB never could boast big budgets unfortunately. They gave the best effort in the situation they were in. With a mediocre, forgettable and boring result in the end. It's playable if you have nothing else to play and want some easy time with no pressure on your brain. But if you are a fan of classics like G1, G2 and Archolos and you just planing to complete the trilogy like I did - stay away. Spare yourself the disappointment :(
