Bramble is superb!
It's a very short adventure (about 4hrs), but, wow, it's so packed with memorable bosses, frightened runs and thick ruthless environment. Are you ready to meet stone trolls? Luring witches and forest nymphs? Perhaps, you want to help friendly gnomes instead? These and many other encounters await!
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3499750967
Easy-peasy
Surprisingly, Bramble is a forgiving game. Given its dark folklore and frequent gruesome deaths, its difficulty is pretty low. Even though only one of the mechanics (throwing) is explained, others e.g. stealth, dodging, cover - they all come naturally, assuming you pay attention to the surroundings!
And you will have to stay alert! Especially when out of the obvious dangers, there are so many ways to die - bear traps, fast streams, darkness... light up!
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3499750903
Bosses are amazing! Chubby butcher troll, levitating forest nymph, and of course, of course they made the final boss fight with the Grieg's music - "In the Hall of the Mountain King". Love it!
Certainly a must play.
SEQUEL when? Devs? Pretty please!

Strongly recommend!!
The music was beautiful throughout the game. Absolute best choice and remix of an epic song for an epic final boss fight!
Visually beautiful too. The perfect amount of scary and at the right time. Enough time to calm down from it too. I didn't realize it would be gory, but it fit the game and it added to it.
I wish I could replay the game for the first time, truly a great experience!

A short game, but a nice on at that. It feels like Little Nightmares meets Scandinavian folklore, immersing you in a dark fairytale world in which you encounter trolls, spirits, witches and the like. The atmosphere is at times eerie, with ominous visuials sending chills down your spine, and has your heart racing when being chased by unseen monsters.
The graphics are overall ok, but the enemy design is where the game really shines.
The biggest downside of this game for me was the frustratingly clunky camera. It follows you along, occasionally turning, which makes the movement a hassle and has caused me to walk off paths or ledges more than once.

It’s weird, unsettling, and stunning; the game wraps horror in beauty. I usually avoid horror, but this one felt different. A mix of haunting, sad, and strange beauty.

When I purchased the game I was expecting more a children's story with some adventure.
But I was so surprised to see how awesome the game was, even containing several horror elements which reminded me of other horror games.
With very nice soundtrack, story, art, and gameplay, it exceeded my expectations, so I definitely recommend it!

Folklore af! Creepy, weird game, but very entertaining. Beautiful graphics and well put together. I managed to finish the game in about 7 hours and went back to get the rest of the achievements for a total of about 8 hours played. I got all but Completing the whole game without dying? No thanks. Definitely a different type of game, nothing too challenging but worth every penny. Since it is only about 7 hours of fun, maybe wait for it to go on sale. Big thumbs up though, thanks for the nightmares. And Olle's run... hahaha!

I have never taken so many screenshots in one game before. This game is beautiful. Also I loved ever bit of the lore in this story. game play was a bit challenging due to camera angle, but I've never been the best at platforming so that might just be a me thing. I'm definitely going to play this game again.

Update:
I understand now when people said it damaged them, lol...
Pretty good. The world building is incredible, but very linear. I really wanted to have at least a little exploration.
The graphics and the music are very nice and the story as well.
Boss fights are interesting.
I think it is based on Slavic/Nordic mythology and fables.
I saw why some people found it disturbing. The game got a little savage after the beginning :D but it's nothing unseen or anything. I think they felt like that cuz you are playing with a kid.

I bought this game because I enjoyed similar games like Inside and Little Nightmares. While this game has a much more cinematic feel to it, and certain puppet-like charm, I did find it frustrating, at times, particularly due to the controls. There are moments in the game, too, where it is so dark (even after adjusting the gamma and my screen brightness) that it is hard to see where to go. Overall, I did enjoy the play through and it is very creepy! I recommend this game when it goes on sale.

I went in not really knowing what to expect and i was so impressed with this game. I got so immersed into the beautiful forrest scenery, the music and of course the story. You never know whats going to happen next and the game really takes you on a journey. The game is not too difficult mechanic wise but still never gets boring and i never experienced any bugs. Its fairly short but so well made and i would definitely recommend it to people who likes an immersive experience and i would also recommend playing it without looking up any spoilers first. But do be aware that the game does get dark and plays on different kinds of fear, but not too intense. I enjoyed it a lot!

Bramble reminded me a bit of Hilda, with all its Nordic folklore content and child protagonists - except that it would feel like if Luke Pearson woke up that morning and chose violence.
This game surely pulls no punches: right from the start, after that traditional health warning that we all ignore, it also warns gamers that we're about to see a lot of horrific stuff: infanticide, suicide, carnage... and trust me, such warnings are warranted. But what happened to my PC while I was playing it was the truest horror story.
The Mountain King is so visually demanding that my no-break started bipping as soon as my character stepped out of his home and into the woods. To make matters worst, my PSU started dying on me, restarting my computer during gameplay. At first I thought it was the game's issue, that it was poorly optimised and it was its fault, while other games worked fine. I tried lowering the graphics, but the problem persisted. So I uninstalled it never to look back, only to find out it was indeed my rig's issue. So I returned to the game's dark world with a new PSU, and I was happy to know it wasn't the game's fault, as I was very much enjoying it when I left it.
Bramble at times may feel like taking cues from Limbo and Inside, and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only who thought the same by playing it - in fact, one segment straight up copies the shock wave session of Inside. There are some moments that employ the core principle of such Playdead games: to kill players in order for them to learn what to do. For an instance, the first boss smashes the table you're standing on, and this causes your character to lose his footing, becoming vulnerable to attacks - so, for the next try, I learned to jump when he was about to smash.
I'm not a particularly fan about this method of gameplay, for I feel this is counter-intuitive and interrupts the flow of progression. But fortunately, these moments are not so prominent, as many moments are organicaly intuitive: when you see, for another instance, a large character scooping around, and there's tall grass, it becomes clear you have to crouch and hide in it. Mountain King also reminded me a lot of the early Resident Evil outputs, in that the game is heavy with fixed cameras, specially when you're at a closed environment.
In grand gaming tradition, the first level introduces the mechanics of the game, regarding platforming, climbing, dragging objects and general interactivity. Interactive objects have a white dot close to them, and when you get close, you get an input. Some of these interactive moments are just to look at things, while others regard puzzles that must be solved to clear the path - and puzzles in this game are pretty light. Early in the game, you'll gain this glowing stone that can work as a lantern, as a weapon against some enemies, and that can clear up titular bramble when it's blocking your way. This is why I preferred playing this game with keyboard and mouse, in that the WASD keys worked fine, and aiming with the mouse was great.
Bramble has a lot of stealth sections, specially since your character doesn't have many means to defend himself. Some enemies are more perceptive than others, and may pester you through an entire section. Others who dwell in darkness are actually attracted by your light, so it becomes tense to walk without knowing where you're going. The game also has its fair share of jump scares, and moments you just have to RUN.
The game is very linear, but there's a fair share of collectables along the path. While you progress, you may also find books (which are not so well hidden on propose) telling the stories of the places and characters we saw, explaining the lore. In fact, Bramble is the kind of game that invites achivement hunting.
As my personal experience exemplified, this game really demands a lot from the hardware. While the models are clearly cartoonish with their big eyes, the visuals are ultra realistic and incredibly immersive, really conveying that you're at this dark fairy tale in medieval Scandinavia. The issue however is that the art direction did mislead me sometimes on what to do, or where to go. The soundtrack is beautiful, with ocasional gentle yet powerful vocals, complementing the scenes and pinpointing their moods, from times of peace and quiet in the woods to desolating moments of despair.
The game can get quite gruesome, and I would go out of my way NOT to find out the death animations - some YouTube channels already covered that, but I won't. I make that clear so there can be no doubt this game is not for everyone, specially children and the faint at heart: at one moment, you have to traverse this pool of flesh, where a creature hidden beneath it chases you as soon you jump in. But it's not all gore: some gentler moments of ma can offer players a break from all the brutality, with beautiful sunlight and meadows to please the eyes.
If you can stomach this game (and I have stomached far more horrific than that, namely Kane & Lynch 2), you'll find a genuinely beautiful game, with instances of light within the darkness, and vice versa - a damn good game. While it can be a bit janky at some times, it never frustrated me other than technically.
I'll just say this game was more damaging to my PSU than to my emotional.

Good vibes, great at keeping you on edge but.
Certain areas and puzzles, particularly the ones where you have to run between covers gets tedious. The last two bosses feel slow, and combat generally.. meh. Good game, good for a rainy or sick afternoon, but be aware of late game slowness.

The controls were a bit weird at times, like in assassins creed when you try to jump on top of something and the character just flies off in the opposite direction. Would have wanted the story teller to be native Swedish speaker as well but I guess it’s an off accent since all the nordics have these fables to some extent.
Other than that I LOVED this game and have recommended it to everyone I know. Cried at a few different points because of the beautiful scenery and music combined. It really catches the nostalgia I have from my Swedish childhood and it mixes very well with the horror and sadness as well

II love it and hate it so much :)
I love:
-the story about Ole and his big sister Lillemor
- the sweet fairy tale world and the beautiful atmosphere
- the characters, they are so sweet, beautiful or ugly, disgusting and horrific.
-the music
The story sometimes reminded me a bit of other fairy tales like The Frog Prince or Rapunzel because of all the thorns.
I was briefly shocked at some moments and yes, I am alive, my heart raced at certain moments and sometimes my heart became very heavy with sorrow. But yes, I like the game.
I hate:
- those little bugs that get Ole stuck sometimes and prevent him from progressing. For example at the tree stump, I couldn't move on, so I had to replay the chapter...
-the nun and the woman in the red dress, only those who have played it know what the reason is.
For all those who can see the fairy tales and also some disgusting situations, I recommend the game, for all others better keep your fingers away

Crazy, they made that "well that escalated quickly" funni line rider song into a whole game

In all seriousness, we NEED more games like this where lesser known (internationally) folklore is explored and presented in an interactive medium

A wonderful and gorgeous adventure.
I had a blast with this game despite it never becoming very challenging. Simply exploring this twisted fairy tale as I was constantly given new mechanics to play with was enough to keep me enthralled and thoroughly entertained.
Not one to be missed for those who love Playdead's Limbo and Inside. It has that vibe to it (along with a smattering of Ico).
Absolutely recommended!

A bit difficult, this linear game has a great storyline and a happy ending for those who like Thrillers. Story follows a child looking for his sister in a dangerous fairytale land. The last couple of levels are a bit difficult but once you get the patterns down it becomes solvable.

A hauntingly beautiful journey through dark Nordic folklore.
Bramble blends stunning visuals, emotional storytelling, and eerie creature design into a short but powerful adventure. The atmosphere is rich and unsettling in the best way — like a fairytale gone wrong. Every moment feels handcrafted, from the quiet woods to terrifying boss encounters.
🎵 Incredible soundtrack
🎨 Gorgeous and moody environments
🕹 Simple mechanics that let the story shine
💔 Emotionally heavy but unforgettable
Takes about 4–5 hours to finish, but it stays with you much longer.

A dark fairytale: enchanting, haunting, but heartwarming at its core. Initially it seems very cute, but don't be fooled, the majority of this game is anything but cute. The game is cinematic, immersive and visually stunning; it takes you into another world that feels alive.
Gameplay is varied enough to keep the attention and not too difficult; especially the boss fights are a highlight. The pacing is good, building tension up pretty nicely, but it doesn't keep it's foot on the gas for too long.
Would recommend to anyone interested in northern folklore and unique horror games.

starting off, if you're planning on playing it exclusively on Steamdeck, please be aware that the game gets stuck/freezes up and you won't be able to advance beyond the tower that you climb to reach pestel (towards end game). a walk around is to launch the specific cut scene on your pc, let it run, and once itis over you can switch back to steamdeck.
now, i think the game is a work of art. the lure is just amazing and unique. graphics are gorgeous (although you have to drop the quality on deck to keep the visuals smooth). the music is top notch. the narrator is so good i kept looking forward for her parts.
i appreciate the gameplay and controls as the convey a sense of helplessness a child would have in such a nightmarish world (although i'm aware alot of people find it annoying).
there's also a part after you the church in plague village right before zombie chase where the game kind of breaks down by letting walk through walls but you cant progress. had to restart the game and change in game graphics and it worked.
i think developers did an excellent job (a bit of backstory about Olle and his sister would have welcomed though).
i can't wait for part 2!!
i'll give it a 9/10 because of the two bugs i mentioned since the scared more than the butcher. thought i'll never get finish the game.

A wonderful fairy-tale that slowly turns into an absolute nightmare. Bramble is soaked in atmosphere and is able to set itself aside from the pack by utilizing the culture it's inspired from to make some interesting and genuinely upsetting scenarios. Some of the platforming can be finicky, and there were a fair share of unfair feeling deaths, but on the whole I was excited to see what was next. By the time I could feel myself being tired of one mechanic, the game would quickly move on to introduce something new. It's a breezy title with not much replayability (which honestly comes with the genre) so recommending it for a full $30 is a bit tough, but on a sale I cannot recommend this game more. Whether you're in for a quiet night by yourself or you're streaming it with friends, it's a good time to see the hell you descend to. I'm a sucker for these sort of cinematic horror platformers and Bramble is one of the better out there along the likes of Little Nightmares and Limbo.

A quaint little experience!
The Story is pretty simple on the surface but i do like the inclusion of the story books that give more context to the monsters and world that the player explores. The main goal is simple, but i think its enough to keep the game moving and doesn't distract the player. The characters are cute but there is nothing really memorable about them except for their appearances. There isn't any dialog except from the narrator who does a great job, but I get that this was intentional and the right fit for this game.
The Settings are wondrous. I really like how the whole game makes you feel so tiny and the world incredibly large that it adds into the horror elements that this game goes for. I like how there are little switch ups in environments whilst still being grounded and believable that this all takes place in the same area.
Visually its gorgeous. The performance was solid throughout and i didn't experience any bugs or crashes. I also played this on the steam deck and it runs really well. It does take a dip in frame rate in some areas on the deck but its really good for the most part. The Art Direction is really well done here and feels very nordic in its atmosphere. Its very well detailed and while in closer inspection it might not look that great, it does a fantastic job in its art direction.
Sound and Audio are on point with the soundtrack being fill with horrific and epic moments and the vocal tracks in here are so nice to listen to. The Audio is also a really nice fit sounding really organic and earthy in its presentation.
In terms of Gameplay, this is akin to Little Nightmares in terms of platforming. Movement feels heavy but intentional giving weight to each action and adding more tension to the entire experience. I like the different elements that the game tries to do with boss fights. But thats really all i can say about gameplay as its one of those titles that are really meant to be played once and are more of an "experience" than a game. Finally, I think that the run time is the right amount as if it were longer it could have winded the experience.
Overall, Bramble: The Mountain King is a beautifully horrific experience for those who want a more casual experience. While i do think the price point can be a little steep, its definitely worth it if you are into titles such as Little Nightmares!

For sure one of the most BEAUTIFUL games i have ever played.
Visually is perfect. The motion blur and depth blur use is this game is better than any other videogame that i remember,
This is a complete cinematographic experience. The folklore-based narrrative, the easy difficulty that allows you to not lose time and momentum in the storytelling, and the ambience, color palette...
I loved this game really much. A nice surprise in a time when just a few things can be it

Holy macaroons...I did not expect this. You looking for a creepy, unique, horror game that does not hold back in any way, this is the game to try. I was thinking it was like Limbo or Little Nightmares, but this (in my opinion) is better. and more horrifying.

It's an action-adventure game based on Nordic fairy tales. If you are not taken aback by some really gruesome scenes, including a child getting killed over and over in various ways, then I can recommend it. The graphics and music are really good too.
The only issue I have with this game is the controls. Yes, I know, it's optimized for controller, but I've played games optimized for controller that still played well enough with keyboard and mouse. This one isn't. The kind of movement scheme the game has just doesn't work well in a 3D world.

I’m kinda split in the middle with this game. On one hand the story and graphics are quite good and on the other hand the controls are terrible and the gameplay boring.
Story wise we follow this young boy named Olle and his journey to find and save his older sister Lillemor (but seriously who names their kid Lillemor?) from the Mountain King.
The graphics look nice for both the environment and creatures, but not so much for the humans. Not that it really matters.
Now on to the more important part of my review - the controls. They’re overall quite clunky and weird at times. Like I can’t tell you how many times I died by accident because of them. Sometimes while you platform they might make you jump a bit too much to the side and make you fall and die. Mostly because the camera makes it hard to see how much to the side you need to jump.
And lastly the gameplay. It’s overall boring. You don’t do much except run around and platform. Like I get it that the game is more about the story than the gameplay, and that’s fine, but I personally just wanted a bit more in the gameplay department.
Would I recommend the game? No, not really. Why? Because it kinda got boring after a while and way too repetitive not to mention the horrible controls (camera angles mostly).

Beautiful and terrifying landscapes, horrific creatures that stem from folklore, and mesmerizing music makes this a short but worthwhile experience. The mature themes did take me by surprise, so this isn't for the faint of heart, but if the warnings at the beginning don't deter you, this is one to check out. Hopefully there's another made that expands on everything done here.

Good short advanture game in grimm north horror tales setting. It combines puzzle-platformer elements with dark souls - like boss fights. A lot of mechanics in this game is very timing-sensitive, so you will die a lot if you can not do correct moves fast enough or in needed rythm. Camera perspective changing a lot, for me it was mostly interesting decision that added some variety in game, but somebody can not like it.
Plot is classic railroad trip in order to save [strike]the princess[/strike] your character sister. On your way you will discover and take part in some scary tales, but if you manage to survive -
happy ending is waiting for you
.
