The Sims™ 2 Legacy Collection

I grew up playing the game but it's not the same. When I try to play it, the game constantly crashes so I lose all of my hard work and there are so many bugs. Whenever I try to make certain foods to eat or even to serve it will have my sims goes through the motions but then act like they didn't make anything. I would love to be able to play this game all day like I want to but it's so hard when there are so many bugs and crashes. If they would fix that then I would play it even more than what I have.

I haven't personally had any problems with the game crashing but I know this is absolutely on a case by case basis. This version runs far better than the older Ultimate Collection for me, which was crashing and after some play time would cause the dreaded 'pink soup'. Game wise, it's the Sims 2 as we know it, in all it's buggy lovable state. I have played this game since I can remember and it remains my favourite of the series. If you started with the Sims 4, Sims 2 will be a shock in some regards - needs deplete far quicker, no multitasking, the graphics, etc. But on the flip side the wants/fears system is great and the family play is pretty top notch and simple. I personally play rotationally and have an excel spreadsheet to keep track of the ongoing families. I'd say if you're returning to the series and already own the UC version (and it runs well for you) then there is not anything you're missing here. If you're a new Sims 2 player then this is the safest way to play, steam has a 2 hour refund policy so if you experience any concerning performance issues be sure to use that.

Might be luck but it's running smoothly for me. I had been avoiding buying based off majority of people's experience from the reviews. One night I said screw it and brought it. Glad I did. I've missed this game so much. Hopefully one day everyone will get to experience a smooth game play.

the sims 2 my beloved <3 didn't have many issues, sometimes the ui looks wonky but the game itself didn't crash or anything so far. EA is greedy for that price tho

The game ran fine on my Windows 10 laptop but after upgrading to a new Windows 11 laptop, I can't get the game to work anymore. It crashes after 10 minutes, and doing the recommended "turning off shadows" does nothing. The last time I played, all my custom content hair and clothes started flickering before it crashed again. I tried for two hours to no avail. I'll play again when they fix this mess, but for now I've uninstalled the game.

Rlly fun!! Proves my point of the older the sims game the more entertaining.

feels like playing Sims 2 back in the day! haven't experienced any issues with the game apart from your average Sims bugs, resolution fits my monitor and no crashing!

Crashing every 15 minutes now. Game worked for about 4 hours, can't seem to find a fix, seems like the only thing that will get the game running again is deleting everything, and starting the full saves fresh.

will never not recommend. my ultimate collection on EA is broken so i had to buy it on steam. too many hours to count on. may as well start a new one :)

I don’t recommend putting out a fire with your only Sim. Even if everything seems under control, you might end up deciding to eat the burnt food — and then your Sim just randomly catches fire and collapses to the ground in flames. Meanwhile, your cat just watches… silently judging. Then a hooded stranger appears and says: “If the goal of the game was to eliminate all your Sims, you’d be a true master, but unfortunately, The Sims 2 is still a life simulator.” Moral of the story: never underestimate a burnt lasagna.

ahhh ts2; i loved this game in my childhood. being able to return to it once again without struggling thru pirating everything etc is a beautiful thing. No micro-transactions, no extra anything. Just pure, simple sims fun like I was a kid.

I've never really gotten in to the Sims before playing Sims 2 Legacy Collection. Its a lot of fun and you get a lot of content for the price, definitely buy on sale. Some people seem to have performance issues, but it works fine for me.

The Sims 2 is the best sims game i have played since sims 3 its a true classic and filled with so much gameplay and lore that you can play with for hours

I've always enjoyed Sims 2 (started the Sims on it) so it was fun to get access to it again with this collection!

Best game ever, right underneath Sims 3...they fell off lowkey with Sims 4 but it happens. Them releasing the throwback pack made up for it.

I hate EA for charging so much for a game that is 25 years old... BUT hot damn is sims 2 a bag of nostalgia. It's honestly everything I remember from when I was a kid but so much better. I wish I could just have sims 2 with sims 4 graphics and build mode and I'd be a happy camper. But maybe that's the nostalgia in me. I have yet to experience any issues as far as crashes go, I have had nothing but good performance *knock on wood*. I'd say maybe hold off til a sale unless you're a lover of the series and just cannot get into ts4 because you miss the old sims, this, this is it, along with ts3

Wow. I like the game because it reminds me of this game I played as a kid. I think it was called the sims 2 but what do I know? If anyone played that game as a kid I recomend this as a good substitute. BYE and thank you for listening :)

this isnt what i remember when i played growing up. why is it so hard to keep their needs green they eat but it barely raises the hunger bar. also it says it comes will all these packs but where are they?? i see the university and city maps but it says its the mansion one. am i suppose to live on the map for the benefits of that specific pack? i feel like theres nothing to do and its hard to do anything bc their needs get low so fast and you need to eat like 4 times in one setting to get a full green. how do i do careers? i thought pets were playable in this one bc 4 and 3 arent. im so lost! is this remastered or original i just remember so much more as a kid than what im seeing now

Continuously crashes no matter what fixes I found online right when I tried loading up one of the towns. I couldn't even make it to Sim creation because of said crashes.

My sim starved to death because she kept falling asleep in her cereal bowl.

Just bought this game, and I’m not experiencing any of the “issues” others are talking about. So I guess the real issue here is the consumers themselves—people who regret their purchase and decide to leave a negative review just because they changed their mind about buying it in the first place. This is a nicely remade game, and it doesn’t deserve that. And guess what? I’m playing on LINUX, and I’m still not experiencing ANY problems at all. The game runs fine, and anyone claiming it’s broken is just a straight-up classic liar Karen.

I haven't played this Legacy Collection as much yet, but this, along with The Sims 3 is better than the laughing stock that is The Sims 4.

Wow! My favorite game of all time! I sure hope it doesn't randomly crash constantly!

I played it for hours on end in the early 2000s. I am proud to recommend this awesome game to a new generation.

I fought a long time to get the save files because there is no steam cloud support. pain in the @$$

Had a lot of crashing in the CD version of the sims 2, played this 40 hours now, not a single crash, worked for me! :D

Oodles of fun; I have been fortunate enough to not run into any performance issues. Takes me back to the old days! And it's great to play with the expansions I never had in the past

The UI is tiny and I've tried EVERYTHING to make it better but failed. Like, yeah, I have bad eyesight, but I don't think that even a person with 20/20 vision could play this without squinting and putting their face 2mm away from the monitor just to be able to see the icons in buy mode. It's probably different for people with bigger/smaller monitors but on mine the game is basically unplayable. And it used to be fine -- I played a lot after the game was re-released (with no major issues, actually loved playing it), then took a break and I came back to it this week just to see that it sucks now??? :steamthumbsdown::steamthumbsdown:

It's unfortunate that this game had such a rocky launch, because I've been playing it pretty much nonstop and haven't experienced any issues whatsoever. It's just like the game I remember playing 20+ years ago (and with much of the exact same CC). The Sims 2 is truly an exemplary game and, although flawed, I am very happy that it was launched on Steam after being abandoned by EA.
