I'm making this review for the benefit of the upcoming Summer Steam sale, 2025, when I'm sure there'll be a lot of folks thinking about adding STAR WARS Jedi: Survivor to their library. As a Gen X guy who grew up on Star Wars, whose favourite Star Wars console game was probably Force Unleashed for PS3 and XWing for the old 386DX PC, I'll say that Jedi: Survivor is a fantastic console game with great writing, characters, graphics, and gameplay. I didn't connect well with this game's predecessor, Jedi: Fallen Order, so I was pretty apprehensive about this one. I didn't like how I felt FO was too heavy a platformer-puzzle game vs. fighting and maybe being a Jedi? I don't know, but I didn't connect with it. This game started to feel like that, stiff, puzzle-y, so I was unsure. Sticking with the game, however, and as Cal gains more abilities and unlocks new ability trees, the experience truly 'opens up' to allow the player to revisit earlier levels to access what was previously cut off. From a writing perspective, I'm graciously offered an update to all the plot I didn't see when I chose not to continue playing Fallen Order, and the pieces of the past game mesh nicely with the plot of the current AND ties to the greater STAR WARS canonical past. There are also very good moments where Cal, now separated from the Jedi order, comes to terms with human emotions without guidance. It's good, and allows some credence to some of the otherwise more violent choices that Cal makes in his sometimes very agressive combat. Speaking of combat, it flows well. The player starts with a basic lightsaber, but in short time they will be given a series of lightsaber stances (like dual wield, or double bladed staff, plus new and older styles), force powers (a variety of interesting ones), and it feels very satisfying to slice through hordes of combat droids with huge swinging arcs of lightsaber combined with force crushing and pushing off high spaces. Graphics are 2025 standard. What I mean is that if you have an RTX capable card you'll be rewarded. Sound is equally impressive if you are one of the select few of us who know that onboard audio controllers suck. I crank my Edifiers through my SBGC7 and it feels movie-quality. Play for a few hours and you'll eventually get access to your 'hub' of activity, where you can access stores, do mini games, exercise your right to view your collection of Star Wars trinkets you bought, give yourself a mullet and long handlebar moustache, before going to revisit older levels with your newly-learnt mobility power. I am a slower player, and I'm about 50 hours in to the game. I have quite a long way to go. I have not completed the main plot (although if I'm wrong in my assumption as to where this plot leads I'll be absolutely shocked: if there's a twist incoming I've seen it all along), so the verdict is out on what happens next. Side note: I used to love how, in Force Unleashed, you could be Starkiller as a Sith with the right skins and powers - I wonder if that's an option for Cal? I don't think so. I doubt it. Cal feels like he's just going to be a good guy. I'd be remiss to not mention the humour that runs throughout in this game. There are so many very well-written characters that are both brand new and based in some of the more contemporary Star Wars canon (like from the Mandalorian, for example). Are there those platforming sequences that feel like just a big puzzle? Yes. Yes there are. Cal climbs everywhere - everywhere! He's constantly jumping from clingable wall to rope to ledge to ceiling to wall run and everything in between. But thankfully, the most difficult of these sequences are few and far between and when they are present, I'll tell ya, they tend to be visually stunning experiences. SO. You have this game on your wishlist and it's on sale for Steam Summer in 2025? Do you like Star Wars? Do you like to use a controller? Do yourself a favour and grab this game. I'm confident to say that Jedi Survivor is my new favourite Star Wars game (although playing Starkiller as a Sith was pretty rad)
PERFORMANCE NOTE: go to the properties tab for this game in your steam library, and under launch options, TYPE "-dx12"
this forces the game to run with dx12 and has fixed the stuttering issue for me ENTIRELY!! i can run this game with ray tracing and high graphics and it runs smooth as butter!!! i may edit this review later with more of my thoughts on the game, but before you refund it, PLEASE TRY THIS!! edit: for people asking about Koboh, stuttering is still non-existent, however the game does start to chug if i look out at the entire open world section. but my god that open section is huge and i'm playing on the highest graphics so, this is an issue present in every recent massive open world game

WARNING: Before You Buy Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Jedi: Survivor is a strong follow-up to Fallen Order, and in most ways, a better game. It expands on what worked before—combat, exploration, story—and gives players more freedom, more customization, and more to sink their time into. But like the first game, it’s not without its flaws. If you’re planning to jump in, here’s what you should know. The story picks up a few years after Fallen Order, with Cal Kestis continuing his fight against the Empire. Without spoiling anything, the narrative feels more mature, and while the stakes are higher, it still keeps a focus on Cal’s personal growth. It avoids leaning too heavily on existing Star Wars characters, which helps it feel like its own story. The worldbuilding is solid, and there’s a good balance between quiet character moments and large-scale set pieces. Combat is a clear highlight. There are now five lightsaber stances, including dual wield, crossguard, and a saber/blaster combo. This variety lets you adjust your playstyle depending on the fight. It still feels weighty and skill-based like Fallen Order, but it’s a bit smoother and more flexible. Boss fights and tougher enemies can be challenging, but never feel unfair. It rewards timing and patience without being overly punishing. Exploration is much more open this time. Planets like Koboh are massive and layered, with side areas, hidden upgrades, and plenty of optional content. You’ll unlock mounts and new traversal abilities that make getting around easier, and yes—fast travel is now a thing. You can move between unlocked meditation points, which helps reduce unnecessary backtracking, though you’ll still have to do a bit of it if you're hunting everything down. If you’re going for 100%, be aware that collectible hunting can feel repetitive. There’s a huge amount of cosmetic items, lore logs, and hidden upgrades. Some are fun to find, others feel like padding. The map is better than the first game’s, but it can still be unclear in vertical areas or tight spaces. Now the biggest issue: performance. Even after multiple patches, there are still bugs—occasional crashes, texture pop-ins, and frame rate dips. They’re not constant and don’t make the game unplayable, but they can interrupt the experience. If you’re someone who wants everything to run perfectly, these issues might get in the way, especially during more cinematic or intense moments. For most players, it won’t ruin the game—but it’s something to keep in mind. Enemy AI also varies. Some encounters feel smart and well-paced, while others are let down by odd behavior or enemies getting stuck. Side quests and bounty missions are a mixed bag—some are worthwhile, others feel like filler. Jedi: Survivor takes what Fallen Order started and pushes it further without losing what made the original great. It’s fun, cinematic, and packed with moments that feel genuinely memorable. It’s not perfect, but it doesn’t need to be to leave an impact. If you’re looking for a solid Star Wars game with strong gameplay and story, this is a good pick.

A very enjoyable and fun game from start to finish, a classic action-adventure Metroidvania, just like the first game. This one is very similar but does everything better. There are fewer planets, but the maps are larger, especially on the main planet. The story is decent, with good acting and voice-over. I loved the humor, I kept laughing during the most random conversations, especially with Turgle. The writing is spot on. The game isn't very long unless you aim to 100% everything. It is easy and straightforward if you just want to play through the main story, which I don't recommend. Most of the collectibles and side missions are well crafted and entertaining. Performance isn't great and varies depending on the planet. I noticed the worst performance on Jedha, with huge frame drops compared to the rest of the game. It crashed to Windows about four times in the first 10 hours of gameplay, but none after that. Another annoying thing is the unnecessary EA app, which does nothing except slow down the game's launch. I understand why some people are giving the game negative reviews due to performance issues, but if we are judging the actual game and gameplay, it deserves much more praise. It is sad that such a good game has a poor PC port. I would highly recommend this game to all action-adventure lovers. For me, it is by far the best Star Wars game ever made.

Two years post-launch and this game still runs like garbage. The only way to get this game to properly run without being a stuttering mess is to treat your PC like a console when playing it: You can't have anything else running, it has to be in dedicated fullscreen mode, disable any background overlays like Steam/Discord/GameBar/etc., disable your second (and third) monitors if you have, set your primary monitor to 60hz regardless of VRR, etc. Even downloading the NexusMods that the guides tell you won't fully solve the performance issues with this port. Aaaaand even after doing all that work and giving the game an ideal scenario, it will still crash to desktop at the dumbest times. I really enjoyed Fallen Order and nearly 100% it on PC with no issues. I enjoy Survivor when it's working fine, but I feel like I'm going to need to finish this game on a PS5 just to get through the rest of the campaign without having to deal with the PC port issues. Fingers crossed the next and final game is optimized better, whenever it comes out. UPDATE: I roughed it out and continued just to complete the campaign. It took another +10 hours and doing the steps I listed above helped keep the game from stuttering and it looked like I had a solid 60fps, however I still had 5 crash-to-desktop situations. The game has some really epic moments, like climbing to the highest parts of Koboh and seeing the entire map beneath you, but it really sucks to be immersed, locked-in with the combat and traversal puzzles, then have the game crash and you need to do it all over again. I recommend playing the game, but just not on PC.

Great game but awful PC port. The gameplay is polished and refined from Fallen Order, it's great in that regard, but where I could run Fallen Order on the maximum graphics settings with ease, Survivor looks like it's on the PS2. Incredibly unoptimized for PC graphics, a very lazy EA cash grab. You are much better off buying a console version.

It would have been a GAME OF THE YEAR if it wasn't launched with such abysmally bad PC optimization! Other than that "Survivor" is an "Arkham city" level of step forward for the series.

I want to recommend this game, I do but I can't get it to stop crashing. I have tried everything and it just keeps crashing at random points. Sometimes I lose 30 mins to an hour of game play because it rarely auto saves. All saves are from rest points and sometimes it can be 30-45 mins between rest points. If anyone has any advice I'll take it, but sadly until then I guess I'm stuck till then.

I want to start this off by saying I've beaten this game and thoroughly explored the world on ps5 so I know exactly how this game is supposed to look and feel. I'm running this game on a gtx 1080 on medium settings and it no joke runs and looks about on par with the ps5 version. Plenty of others have mentioned stutters and framerate dips, that's just apart of the jank. Jedi Outcast had it, so does this. I am using the Ultimate Engine Tweaks mod which is the most recent stability mod, so while I can't speak for how this game played without it, but with it it runs pretty damn well.

Well, I can finally play Star Wars Jedi Survivor after acquiring a big new PC with a 5080 in it... and I even after 10 Hrs into this game, I can't recommend it. The Story up to know is interesting, the combat is still hecking fun like Fallen Order, but my god, the Performance of this game. I thought ARK: Survival Evolved was unoptimized but this game takes the crown in my library. I have a brand new GPU with new Windows (Unbloated via AtlasOS) and the newest GPU driver, why the heck do I get a black world when I leave Database entry? Why does the game randomly get smearing when I exit the meditation point? Why does the randomly force itself down to 30 or lower FPS? So many issues after almost TWO years of Updates and patches... (In the time of writing this we're on Patch 9) and yet it doesn't work. For a Triple A Studio, this is laughable and sad. Even with optimization mods, it does not fix it. Usually I get around 100 FPS on my 2K monitor, but it still feels laggy due to the FPS Response Time. I am 100% sure there is a beautiful game underneath all this performance crap, I will try to play it if I get the urge to, but until then I cannot recommend it.

I can't recommend this game if you have a AMD, the game for some reason crashes AMD Adrenalin and the pc flags it as a hardware error and no updating drivers is not a guarantee that the game will run, the error itself will happened when loading in game assets ao there is something worng with the backbone coding of the game that enters in conflict with the AMD drivers, if you have NVIDIA you may give it a try otherwise stay away from this game.

Jedi Survivor is a mess from start to finish. For a game that launched at a premium price, it felt more like a beta test than a full release. The performance is consistently bad throughout the entire game. Constant stuttering and frame drops ruin the flow and make it hard to stay engaged. The story takes a while to get going, and the early hours are slow and uninspired. Combat feels rough and repetitive until much later, and even then it only barely comes together. For a sequel, it somehow manages to feel like a step back from Jedi Fallen Order. Some of the late game moments are solid, and there are flashes of good design buried under the mess. But by the time anything interesting happens, you are already hours deep into frustration. It is a shame because the potential is there. The setting is rich, the characters have promise, but it is all dragged down by a game that feels unpolished and poorly optimized. Jedi Survivor should have launched in a polished and ready state. Instead, it is a technical disaster that never really recovers. Despite all its problems, I still enjoyed the game. Skip it or wait for a deep discount if you are curious. Hopefully the third game can finally deliver the experience this series deserves without all the problems.

Builds upon the positives of the first game, adding a nice touch of exploration to it. Even though there are not as many systems to explore, Koboh (the main planet) will prove more than sufficient, since the map is truly enormous. Plot-wise it is a bit weak, though still enthralling. The combat, with multiple lightsaber stances and force moves available, made it a very enjoyable experience for me, as I was curious to try every combination of moves possible. Keep in mind that this is a challenging game, especially when playing on higher difficulties, as it might throw you off if not used to this kind of genre. Overall, this is a great game for Star Wars fans seeking to embody a Jedi, but might be too much for someone who is new to the franchise. There are a few performance issues and I experienced a couple crashes when I first started playing, but turning off Ray Tracing seemed to have solved it.

It's soo sad that this game is still riddled with so many performance issues because the story and the writing is good but a terrible job at porting has left this game in a awful state and the list of issue is never ending Stuttering, lagging, texture load issues, artifacting, game crashing when playing around with rtx settings its almost like the devs were in a competition to see how many issue can they add into this game and they definitely won

I've waited a long time to play this game on PC, mainly because of the complaints about performance and bugs/glitches, but I have to say that throughout my playthrough, I've had very few issues with either of those problems. So I believe most of them have been fixed by now. Other than that, it improves upon or adds to the previous game, so if you liked the first one, you'll certainly enjoy this one as well. One little thing to note though: achievements only worked for me when launching the game through the EA platform. So if you're hunting for a plat, be sure to launch it through there to avoid missing out or locking yourself out of any.

I came here to write a review because it says "mostly mixed". This game is fantastic, and should be "Mostly positive". As a rule of thumb, I won't spend more than 20$ on a game, and I was super elated when I snagged this on a sale. It definitely delivered, and so far not disappointed. Pros: - You can pause during cut scenes! - The map shows where you recently traveled!! No more getting lost! - Whenever there's a glitchy cut scene / game play, you can just pause and it seems to reset the issue (for example, a person who is stuck in a wall or something of the sorts)* - Whenever the map/puzzle doesn't do whatever it's supposed to do, you can go back to a meditation point and it seems to fix whatever is needed* - Having the lightsaber cut up the bushes creates such a perfect effect, and really adds a cool effect for fight scenes with shrubbery - Dismemberment!! So amazing!! Cons: - No star wars game will ever live up to your imagination. Turn yours off, and enjoy the imagination of the developers - It stutters a bit at times (i5 9600k & 2070 super at max settings) - I wish resetting the skill tree doesn't cost a skill point....alas *note* - The glitches are rare occurrences. It's inevitable with beautifully complex games like this one. Big kudos to the developers and testers who reported on them and found ways to let the game sort them out. Overall, this game is a perfect mix of adventure, puzzles, comedy, and side-quests a plenty! Definitely worth the time and effort.

A worse experience coming from Fallen Order. The story feels unfocused, the game tries to do too much to "tick boxes" on the feature checklist that every AAA game must have. Combat is a mess in any situation other than 1vs1. Did not have a good time with it. Performance issues are a known issue as well

Don't get it twisted, this game is very good. It's playable currently and likely worth it. But my mouth will never be rid of the bad taste in it's release. Not only was it not working, but it also follows the trend of games being $70. You shouldn't release a port when it's not ready, but to increase the price too while doing it is disgraceful. I love starwars, and I only got this game for a deep sale, and even that was too much to give EA. If you really want to play it I'd do the same, don't support this BS.

The game is now fixed, and in a pretty good performance state, I have a pretty ok rig so maybe i'm not the best to talk about performance, but thankfully i didn't let all the talk about the performance deter me from one of my favourite games from the star wars series, this one is just an amazing game expanding on what they built with fallen order. The Sekiro Inspiration is also my kinda jam. Parrying blaster shots, using my blaster to parry enemies, its just too good, super fun game loop with the metroid vania esque map too. I wasnt planning on doing all the things but I just felt so compelled to check out the map and pick up fashion stuff around. Super fun traversal. I needed my prince of persia climbing fix and this game gave me that in spades. If you're a clone wars fan you should absolutely play this series of games.

Ran into some annoying performance issues while playing. Star Wars Jedi Survivor is definitely a must-play if you're a Star Wars fan. It has some really great moments, but there are also a bunch of things that kind of drag the experience down. The game itself? Awesome. Honestly, probably the best Star Wars game so far. Respawn clearly knows what they’re doing, and the combat is super fun. But man, the performance is still rough in spots—even after all those updates. Kobo especially is a mess. Even with all the bugs, crashes, and lag that kept pulling me out of the moment, I still had a good time. The story was solid, the combat was satisfying, and there were a lot of cool set pieces. It’s just a shame the technical issues keep getting in the way. If you’re into Star Wars, it’s still worth picking up—just go in knowing it’s not exactly smooth sailing.

Insulting performance. Even on the lowest settings the game barely runs and has a hard time rendering the models. The framerate is pathetic. I was easily able to play Fallen Order on decent settings but this is unplayable even on low. From what I've seen, the gameplay and story are quite good, but it doesn't matter since the game wont allow you to enjoy it. Perhaps this is playable on a REALLY good PC, but not for me and most other people.

Changed graphics to lowest settings thinking maybe its being demanding, running 12 gig v ram shouldn't be an issue, and no change, still crashes. EA you are the worst. Fix your product. I searched for the solution online, I found a post, where the guy had the same issue, it was from months ago and he didn't have a solution either. Also it's really annoying that I have to donwload EA launcher in order to play it, really unnecessary. I was coming up the the 2 hour mark and luckily for me, the game after an hour and a half, just began to run like dog turd. It ran fine for the first hour and a bit, so i don't understand why it starts to have huge performance problems after a certain amount of time. Instead of allowing EA to keep my money, i cannot have that happen to an undeserving company that made another bad performing product. so i straight up refunded it.

Great story Great action and Great graphics. But It really isnt that clear were to go. I mean i want a game where i dont have to search up tutorials to get past a gate.

Lots of improvements on the previous game. However, I got to a point of no return when the game kept crashing when arriving in Jedha, lowered all settings to a minimum and turned off all ray tracing etc and I have good specs, set star wars as Realtime priority on task manager, still crashes every single time, making the game unplayable. Had to delete/refund and call it a day. 7/10 game mechanic / story 0/10 optimisation - quite sad actually
