At the time or writing, I have about 70 hours in this game and have been having an absolute BLAST.From managing your estate(s) to managing your farm(s) to managing your province(s) all the while cultivating and increasing baselines for your clan and strengthening them from one generation to the next is an addicting gameplay cycle. Developers are incredibly active and responsive to the community which is actually why I decided to post this review at this time rather than waiting as I had intended. I love this game SO MUCH that as I'm playing I find myself thinking of improvements and things I would love to see in the most whimsical and non critical way possible. Along that vein, I decided to post those ideas here, maybe some other people will resonate with them, and perhaps the devs have some of them in the plan already even, they are intuitive devs as well! I want to make it clear that nothing in this post is meant as criticism as I've done nothing but immensely enjoy this game and the improvements made already in the short time I've had with the game. I would HIGHLY reccommend this game to anyone that's even slightly intrigued, it's worth the sticker. That said; here are some things I have been thinking about as I engage with the game: First off, I would love to see an expanded Fief management system, maybe your village or town can become its own Province and enter the political stage, or maybe village and town management can offer something that provincial and farm management cannot. I love the hunting feature, almost wish there were an optional mini game that i could play for higher might yields for the effort invested? I'm sure the devs have big ideas for fief management already, but the idea is to include every improvement I would like to see, even the obvious ones just in case. When shopping in province, there should be a tooltip that displays how many of an item we currently have and where they are, IE which estate's library vs in general inventory. This would be helpful in determining which books we need to buy when combing the bookstores. along that vein, a "Collections" or "compendium" page that provides a list of all possible collectible items would be helpful from a discovery and completionist standpoint, I have no clue if i have collected all possible books in the game, for example. Regarding Libraries specifically, the "fill to max" function should cap at a certain number of copies of each book, rather than stack in 65 copies of the same book from the general inventory. Items that give more environment score, or perhaps simply an expanded asset catalog for customization options, as well as a mechanic based off of environment, like a hidden luck mechanic but it influences relationship gained during parties instead, and perhaps there are unique events based off of this mechanic that yield unique or rare items. this provides more of an incentive for the party mechanic than relationship with semi-random clan members and would also help to provide a money sink for our basic level currency. secret society mechanics for the skills, medicine, sorcery, etc. introducing more political factions than just Empire and Rebel would increase the complexity of intrigue and the fact that there can be sorcerers or doctors from both factions in the one society overlapping could create opportunity for very interesting intrigue. I have a few ideas regarding the Family Tree screen as well. There should be a search function so I can easily find the one specific clan member I opened the screen to find. In the News Menu, the bracketed names should also provide links that directly open the family tree with that character profile when clicked, and mouse-over would ideally show that same information as a tooltip for quick info. (the model for this would imo definitely be crusader kings III, with the little timeout circle that locks the window open if you hover the mouse for a few seconds, that mechanic is SO SMOOTH.) I would love tabs in the family tree screen that allow me to pivot the view of the tree based on location of their residence, so I can easily see which branch families are residing at which estates. I would love a new tab in the "teach" interface for an individual that shows total monthly yield of all their stat gains from various sources so I know exactly what kind of growth I'm looking at from the cumulative efforts of the school, their reading, and private tutor, for example. I can see those gains individually and add them up, but it would be nice to see them all summarized in one place, this would really help in predicting mastery timelines and optimizing when to switch their reading subject from the library of swap out a differently specialized private tutor. I would like character portrait editing, it would be helpful to have a visual way to discern branch families, by dressing all the members of one branch in blue and another in red for example, or all Might main stat characters wear yellow while Writing Mains are in pink; however each player would like to utilize a color coding system, this would be helpful in that regard. for "noble" or royal family members marrying into your clan, perhaps they have different assets for clothing but still afford color changes to this end. I should be able to change the book a character is reading even when they are in progress with one book already, provided that character isn't away from home and would have access to the library otherwise. sometimes they auto assign a book that is too complex for their level, or I realize that they have maxed a skill and need to focus elsewhere and it can be tricky trying find out when they are going to finish their current book and make the change, or risk forgetting that they have been taken off auto borrow and then loose skill gains for however many years until I realize what happened and remedy that. I'd love it if progress in that book were saved and they could return to it late and pick it back up though, perhaps with a penalty of completion percentage for contrast, as if they had to re-familiarize themselves with the content. on a related concept, it would be nice if the auto borrow function were a little more in tune with skill level, it seems they love to take out +4 books that will take forever to finish rather than start with the lower level books according to their skill level. I should be able to assign clan members and their spouses as teachers/private tutors to underage clan members and it should cost their monthly stamina to do so, and consume any auto function they would otherwise have. Adult aged clan members that do not have a government post or are not on active military deployment should have a monthly task option to complete gig work in province towns to increase their stats slowly over time. as a branch to this concept, we should also be able to assign "go hunting" as a monthly task once the fief is unlocked. In the Province screen, I should be able to pin clan members to the top of the selection screen so that I can manually grind their stats a little easier, rather than scrolling halfway down the list to find that one clan member I want to write this letter because their writing stat is just THAT low When the emperor issues a quest to reclaim province within one year, that notification should be date-stamped so the player knows exactly what sort of timeline they are working with. either a tooltip, countdown timer, or just a simple date-stamp would suffice I think. When dispatching troops to quell rebellion in a province that you govern or are Marshall of, there should be a results screen for that interaction. when i dispatched the troops, the rebellion fires on the world map disappeared so I figured the mechanic worked, but confirmation would be nice, and this is also an opportunity for random events to trigger for Military or Political efforts. I cannot recommend this game enough, I am LOVING it and cant wait to see more!

I really like this game, though rather than citybuilder (there are elements of it of course if you have the equivalent rank for it) I'll call it my very own clan breeding simulator lol. It's very addicting to try to "make" the super baby like in CK3. And I lost hours just planning the best farm layouts for my clan (what is even a blueprint; freestyle ftw)! At the beginning I loved all my first generation clan members and knew them by names; but at some point, I lost track of their descendants and don't remember their names anymore lol, there are too many kids, pls let us change their appearance so I can colour code their clothes by generation ;) The game is still in EA but I am having so much fun with the content that is already out and the developers are updating very fast, never seen a three persons group work so fast! To be fair though, the higher your clan rank gets and the richer you are, there are less things to do at this point but they are currently working on a more elaborate politics system and intrigues so, the name of the game is: "wating for more content and quality of life updates" But beside that it's just relaxing to build up your clan at your own time, there is no real time pressure, you grow as fast as you want it to. I hope they'll also put more rival clan politics and mechanics into the game at some point, I feel like they die out too fast if I don't help them out with my own daughters as in laws - which hilarious but also; I raised my daughter with care, love and most importantly MONEY why would I give her away? Give me better son-in-laws you peasant NPCs lol jk. I'd say, if you just want to have a relaxing and addicting clan builder you could already buy the game - the base is already there and very good but if you want more mechanics in-game, more QOL extras for a smoother gameplay then wait for the full release I guess? In any way, the price of the game isn't too high and very fair in my opinion.

slow burn but well worth it, and gets better every update, slowly but as a Nobunaga's Ambition player from early nintendo days this is as close to that era of strategy/sim currently available... i would really like to have a bit more control over battle, but the political aspect has me hooked.

I didn't expect to like this game. I thought I'd get 20 or so hours out of it, just an in betweener while I waited for other games I enjoy to release or update. Oh, how wrong I was. I don't normally like dyanastic style of games (avoid them like the plague mostly, tbh), but the wrapping on this one was appealing because I am glued to chinese historical novels and dramas. It did not disappoint. To put into perspective, most games lately I tend to stall at around 40 hours, and I consider that to be worth my money. I was worried it would be too hard or complex, but it's a funky mix of simplistic and obscure; most base systems you're guided along, but in part because of early access rough edges, some base things are maybe overlooked--but not so badly that you'll end up failing. For some, that might be a detriment. For me, it has proven a delight...it feels like I can poke around and try things without being punished for it. The community around it is small enough that while some dedicated testers exist, there's still a lot of things to discover--and the feeling of uncovering something or watching others uncover something has proven addicting to me. But more than that, the core game loop is fun. You build you family, and if you're into historical cdramas you can have some fun mirroring little things you see in some of the games. Your control isn't absolute, however, and the characters will do things of their own accord. But that also has its charm. You make money, build things, hyperfocus on little side goals (raising baby stats across the board is my current one), and interfere just enough in your clan's lives to keep them moving in the right direction. The systems currently feel broad but mostly shallow, which I think is on purpose--clearly a lot of time, care, and effort has been put into making a solid base to grow on (clan management, family talent management, child & marriage management, farm management, fief management, city management, royalty management, retainer management, clan estate management--most of these are baselines with more depth promised, and some already delivered on. New management systems are also in development, so you can see there's a lot to work with). And boy, are they growing it. The first month or so I played, they were updating every day to fix bugs--including on weekends. Currently, they're working on a weekly schedule, and they are exceptional about meeting those self-made deadlines. And by they, I mean three. Three people. Two of them are artists. It's nuts. There is just enough rng to make it fun but not, to me, discouraging. Some things might require asking the community for help, and the community is obliging and welcoming. It feels almost like gambling, sometimes, and every time I get a new baby notification I can feel the dopamine spike. I'm 100 hours in and this clearly scratches an itch for me I'm nowhere near satisfying. It's definitely not for everyone, and folks who have spent more time in dynastic style games might find more to nitpick at. But for me, it is balancing a perfect mix of simplicity and complexity to put the challenge into a sweet spot. I'd class it as a cozy game, but we'll see if that changes with the updates. Anyways, it's worth the money and worth a try. Give it a shot.

I really enjoy this game, I've only played 44 hours so far, but I do enjoy all you can do with game at the moment. This reminds me of CK3, but without the in-depth character creation CK3 has. However, I hope that is something to be expanded as the game is updated quite often.

Highly recommended. Love the art style, love the idea. Love the general concepts. There's a bit of busy work and a little bit of a lack of agency in some matters, but overall this is really a very solid and sometimes exceptional sim. Well done to the developers.

I loved the concept of this game and was pleasantly surprised with the many things we can do in Early Access. It's so satisfying, watching my dynasty develop and grow (and all my youth perishing in war, rip). Definitely worth buying, even in EA, and I can't wait to see how it progresses with future updates.

The most fun dynasty strategy game. I look forward to more updates and interactions. Legacy continues with the members of the clan. A lot of city building and management once you start buying land and defeating rebels. Got it during the steam summer sale and its really worth it, even joined the discord.

I tried the demo and liked it, but I feel some of the mechanics have been removed. As it is, 4 hours in I feel like I'm done which is too little, too repetetive for a game which I bought. With more content I may change my mind but for now it is not worth buying the game, even on sale.

It is a great role playing game for those who like Chinese culture or maybe a fan of Chinese Drama. It has a complex system that might take a few saves until you master it. Each save will generate different content and you can choose different path each time making it enjoyable. I am enjoying the game and having a good experience. PS. I have a very low spec laptop and the game never crash on me, yet.

This has the makings of a brilliant game if it is developed well. It so far avoids the excessive complexity, harshness, and grind of some games. It is fun but still challenging. Best of luck to the developers.

This is one of those games that are deceptively fun. You start off really poor at the start, but once you see the numbers go up you would never stop. One minute I was at 0 next I had all the money in the world and nothing to spend it on except buying out all the shops (which makes it a bit easy later on). There are some paths that are still really strong and probably unbalanced. If you like the Crusader Kings series, you'd love this because it's the same feeling I had, "just one more thing," and you realize you've been in game for 6 hours. Definitely lots to improve on still, but it's such a fun gameplay loop already.

Definitely an enjoyable gameplay. Despite being an early access, I can see the potential in the future. Especially if you like management and decorating game. My issue so far is, the decorating part in the main house sometimes glitching so hard. Like, I need to buy Academy 3 times because it suddenly disappear when I try to move it out of the way. AND I can't put my children in it because it still stuck in my previous academy!

House of Legacy is a beautifully crafted strategy sim that blends dynasty management and city-building in a unique historical setting. The visual style is charming, with its minimalist, low-poly art creating a relaxing atmosphere. I love how each family member has distinct traits and can influence the fate of your entire lineage. Managing estates, building farms, and forging alliances through marriage adds incredible depth to the gameplay. The diplomacy system with rival houses keeps things unpredictable and engaging. I appreciate the freedom to shape my legacy—there’s no one “right” way to play. The game’s pacing feels just right, balancing long-term planning with short-term challenges. Music and sound design are peaceful yet immersive, enhancing the thoughtful gameplay. While it’s still in Early Access, the devs are clearly responsive and committed to improving it. Overall, this is a standout indie title that strategy lovers should not miss.

It is the game I dreamed about. Since playing CK2 to CK3, I wanted to play a game that has Chinese or east Asian feel to it. Building your own clan and develop it to long lasting one, looking back to your previous character who has been dead to now your descendant who is thriving... I like the feel. I hope the developer brings this game to their promises.

I'm finding it a really lovely and rather cozy game- as cozy as a game can be when there is warfare and forever increasing taxes grinding the population into rebellion. It's a pretty slow paced game where the goal is basically to rebuild a clan after it's been nearly destroyed in a war and forge alliances with other clans, marry off your members and educate your clan's children so they can thrive and pass the imperial exams for rank gains. There also are ways to poison your rivals and so on, but I am a goody-two-shoes and haven't messed with any of the light espionage and such that is already available at this stage of early access. If you really don't like a lot of clicking, it probably isn't for you, and currently at least there's no way to rotate the maps when you build your clan compounds or improve the cities one of your people are governor of. But I really am enjoying it all, personally, even though there's maybe a lack of clarity about what farm workshops require when you build them and also I've had to just figure out a few interactions on my own or check the forums. (I didn't realize the 'flatter' option was to give gifts for quite some time.) As someone who lives with people who sew and knit I also have to note that the brocade workshop makes the wrong type of fabric (muslin) considering it's called a brocade workshop and needs mulberry trees, and therefore silk, or my various fiber artist friends may disown me, but the things I enjoy in the game outweigh such little nerdy nitpicks. (Perhaps due to localization issues?)

To the House of Legacy developers at S3 Studio: "I know only the blue sky and that this video game is a work of art that is deeply appreciated. May your endeavors continue to impress and the fruits from your labor be enjoyed by all." To my fellow gamers: "This game is a gem. If you like management types of strategy games and have the patience to forge a legacy through the ages. From rags to riches, from fortune cookie to reality, from hauling sacks to writing letters to military officer to court politician to Emperor or Empress. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have." Can't wait for further development and the mods.

This game was on my recommendation feed, and on a whim I purchased it around May 16th or so. I don't look at release dates a lot of the time, and it was shocking to me that this was just a THREE person team, and the fact the game was only two days into early access.. And had few to no bugs? Shoot, that's better than most FULL RELEASE games that are sent out by AAA companies. And no, this is not in no way an AAA game, but my goodness is it amazing. I have sunk over 200 hours into this game since I've purchased it, and it is so easy to get lost in. I'm constantly learning new mechanics, and as the devs release new things I find myself making NEW saves to try out new things on fresh characters. Everything about this game is so well thought, and the devs are constantly asking for feedback on their Discord server, which I do recommend. From talks of overhauling the lineage tree to adding new decorations, events, and so much more - the devs are truly a wonderful team! While this is a "learn as you go" game, there are TWO guides for the game that are awesome and help a ton if you're struggling, especially in the beginning. Not only that, but the community is beyond friendly and is more than willing to help if you have any questions about getting things done or how things work. Simply put, I'd recommend this game. It is beyond worth the price, and honestly, I would buy it knowing what I know for $30. TONS of hours, still adding so many new things, and the repeatability is amazing. Honestly It suffers of some of the repetitive elements other chinese style games suffer from. You get 1 starting area you gotta conquer the other areas. That part is kinda repetitive there is some unfortunate rng elements considering getting titles that give achievements where its sugested you save scum to get them. However despite these meh points the game is really kinda good and has a solid foundation to improve on. Its a great sim/rpg that allows for dynamic storytelling. Minus point would be that events are exceedingly rare. Id like it if my clan members would make friends/rivals more often then atm. Ive had 1 such event in like 20 hours of gameplay and that feels very little. However even without those events. The amount of interactions you can partake with other clans is quite massive. The building system needs some improvement but from 1 update to the other they added nice qol features. However its still very satisfying to make a huge estate and decorate it. The farm system is probably one of my favorite parts. It really makes you feel like you become this massive economic force. Minus point would be that it kinda feels like you become too rich too quickly. Id like some more setbacks not necessarily make it more grindy but make the economy a bit harder to win. So if you like a good solid sim with rpg elements aswell as building stuff this honestly ticks those boxes very well and the systems in place already give a decent amount of depth but also lots of room for more depth. The road map looks promising so if you dont mind early acces this game is already quite a bit of fun and should probably only get better with time.

(WARNING VERY LONG CAUSE I'M EXCITED) So I haven't really played for too long but I am truly ecstatic to have FINALLY found a game that scratches that itch that other games can't seem to ever reach for me. It's legacy based and although it definitely needs some meat to added to this aspect. Like maybe add traits and more personality to the clan members themselves other than just: Mean, Gloomy, or Kind, etc. Perhaps even a function that showcases which clan members are closer to one another, which hate each other more. Reasons for WHY they feel this way to one another, are their houses close to one another so their forced to interact more? Do their parents just not like each other so the animosity was passed down? Or do thier personalities just clash? So many things can be done to flesh out the clan system itself but for an early access game? I'm satisfied. The building part is also so satisfying? Which I wasn't expecting, of course it's controls can be a bit tedious at times (like no my hand actually hurts sometimes from how many times I have to click just to delete ONE decoration, dunno if that's just a skill issue though). But the interactivity of it all has me completely forgetting the pain in thy wrist! Love the fact that every member has their strengths and you lean into that rather than forcing them to all be the same. Love the art and I just enjoy the overall gameplay. Once again, careers do need to be fleshed out more but the update from developers say that they are already working on that. Last thing I could think of is allowing spouses who joined the clan to betray one another? Like I have one member that currently has 3 wives and 4 children, I just think it'd be interesting if because of their mood lowering and 'competition' heightening they'd start to either bully or even poison one another whilst trying to butter up my clan members. Also be interesting if mothers played a bigger role in the child's life, though that also goes to the father. I guess what I'm getting at, is that for a game that focuses on growing your clan, interactions inside the clan are actually very low? I guess illicit affairs can happen (scandalous) but that's about it. Once again this IS an early access game so these are just my thoughts and I still definitely recommend the game! I just want chaos...ya know? Like imagine the drama that would unfold if the main wife of the elder/clan leader cheats and gets pregnant with another man's child (Oh my! A drama that would last the ages...for the clan at least). If you cannot tell this last part is just the ramblings of a chaos gremlin. That is all! Thanks to the developers for making such a beautiful game for me to dump mu hours into.

The game seems like a lot to understand and deal with at first, but then.... The content sucks you in and 3 days latter you look up from your screen and realise you arent even sure you are in the same dimension any more. Well done so far, can not wait to see the final product.

Kereenn, detail walau kadang melihatnya semudah itu, seru nanti klo memang bisa bikin tentara pribadi buat peran antar clan, bukan lagi perang kerajaan

My main suggestion is to keep deceased people in the characters tab with family lines visible, and have the option to enlarge that tab to cover the middle of our screen so that we can rotate more easily and track down the people we are interested in. People passed away getting removed makes it very difficult to track people. I think this game has good potential. Even now it is quite enjoyable.

Recommending the game on the caveat that the devs follow through on the roadmap and make substantial progress. The TLDR is that as it stands, it has the bones of a really good game, but it's very much feature incomplete. The issue with grand scale games like this is that to sell the idea of the scale, devs tend to add a lot of systems but then don't have the time to fully flesh out each system or make them integrate with each other. That's very much the case here. There's a lot to do, but after you spend a few hours you realise what you're doing probably isn't making that much of a difference. That isn't to say you can't have fun with the game, I certainly did despite what I've written above. But it's certainly far from the finished article.
