My favorite game is FF7 ( the original ). Just had to get this game, So far it's great and I actually enjoy the "changes" so far in the story. I'll update this review when I've completed it. :-)
The Best 7/10 Game I Have Ever Played
Don't get it wrong, 7/10 is still a great game. If you loved the original 1997 game, you've probably already played this. If for some reason still haven't played this, this game will do things to you. TLDR: Remake is a more than fine place to start if you are new to Final Fantasy 7, maybe even the best game to start with. This is a good game that can only get better the more you vibe with it's World and Characters. Cloud may not hit right for you, initially, he didn't for me, but maybe there's more to learn of this cast of Characters than meets the eye...give it time. This is Part 1 of a Trilogy that adds context with every replay, every installment, just like trilogy movies (original Star Wars trilogy). They all tend to get better in retrospect. If you are looking for a rich world, characters, production value, music, and a fresh take on the original Turn-Based + Action Combat: The Remake Trilogy will deliver. Enjoyment may vary. These games are the most subjective, divisive games I have ever played. I love it for that. You make the most of it.
WHAT IS FF7 "REMAKE"
If you are new to this Final Fantasy 7 World and it's Characters, this is a more than fine place to start. While most Remakes stand on their own and ultimately play out like the original source material, knowing the original source material only adds depth of said Remake changes, this Remake does as well...and more . For the better, in my opinion, this Remake can not exist without the original story, unlike those other Remake games. While this game, and the installments after, play out more like a sequel to the original 1997 game, both new and old players of this World are left with the same questions throughout each beat of the story. No one knows the ending of this story, not even the biggest fans of the original, yet a care and love for the original source material is still fully intact . Many of the developers of this Trilogy Project are from the original development team almost 30 years ago. They love this World and it's Characters just as much as the fans, fans that have also grown up to be on this project, and it shows. Just remember: this is Part 1 of a Trilogy. You'll be left with questions, questions that may not be answered until a closer look on a 2nd play-through, the second game, or eventual third and final game. Much like the original trilogy of Star Wars, each installment adds more to what came before. Replays with this knowledge can still provide enjoyment that a 1st watch could not possibly do. Enjoy the moments, the Characters, and an award-winning soundtrack. ...and hopefully, you have no issues with your PC/Laptop. Square have made strides to make their PC versions better, but it's still not great and can vary per User, even with virtually the same PCs.
CHARACTERS
While there are many themes and real-world issues presented in this story, this game lives and dies by it's Characters. You may ask yourself early on how so many people like Cloud, the main protagonist, of this story. You are completely in the right to question such a beloved Character. That is the crux of this journey . How these Characters develop throughout events, their pasts, their motives - all of which that may not land initially or at all for you. This is considered one of the best cast of Characters in gaming, ever, for a reason. The Remake Trilogy brings them to life like never before. The voice actors all fit this original cast perfectly. It's believable that even in 1997, where there was no voice acting, that THIS is how they sounded. The tone and emotion that could not be displayed in the original can now come together as it was always imagined to by the developers. This is a JRPG, in a world full of despair and charm, so you can expect a little... "anime uwu" ...dialogue, grunts, and poses. I'll leave it at that because I can't believe I just typed out that last part. Don't worry, it is as classy (?) as fan service can be without feeling raunchy.
COMBAT
The combat is a refreshing mix of the original turn-based combat and real-time combat. It can play like your usual Action Game with Action Shortcuts, and all they way down to a Turn-Based combat setting for those wanting to get as close to that original feel as a game like this can. This isn't a button masher, although you can get through the story doing so on the easier difficulties. For those looking for a challenge, Hard Mode, unlocked after beating the story, is my favorite version of these games. You'll be strategic against enemies and their weaknesses, how each Party member plays differently, how that synergy comes together to compliment each other - all that is up to you with the Materia system to customize your Party as you see fit. Hard Mode will test what you learned and for you to tackle new challenges, all exclusive to Hard Mode itself . A boss fight in the Main Story may have new or added mechanics, for example. While there is plenty to learn and master in this Combat System, it clearly has flaws for both the first play-through and it's challenges. Air Combat can be a pain and real brake on your enjoyment. There is plenty of combos to try with the Materia system, but this first game is pretty limited in it's quality, diversity, and just how much you can equip in general. These problems are fixed entirely, and MUCH more, in the following game (Rebirth). You'll start to see the improvements and the potential of this Combat System in the Intermission DLC with Yuffie. Combat is fine in Remake. Great at times. Once you experience Intermission, Rebirth, and the eventual third and final game, it is pretty rough going back to Remake....but, that's to be expected! It's come a long way.
MUSIC
How does a Remake, where it's material is pulled from the original, still win Best Soundtrack? You'd think that people would be opposed to voting for it because it is not "original", right? I think that speaks for just how good this Soundtrack is . While very different from the original, it is still instantly recognizable. It's not just the original scores, either. The brand-new tracks to this Remake project dive into many genres, can be hit or miss per individual's tastes, but even then they hardly ever miss. You'll be bopping your head to genres you didn't even know you would like. I was in single digits back in the day playing the original; The story, text on the screen, combat, and it's characters all slowly came together for me as I grew up with the original. The music, though? It's just as good as the first time hearing it. Now I can appreciate it more.

Awesome part 1 of a grand story with some flaws here and there. The characters are the main selling point of the game and are very well done in terms of characterisation and character designs accompanied by nice animation and cutscenes. This game is quite long though and at some portions you can feel the game drag, especially if you do all the sidequests, which, while do mostly offer some characterisation, are kinda boring and not that rewarding. The drag can also be felt in combat because there's a few bosses who are just damage sponges and fighting flying enemies in this game is just dumb. The combat is still pretty good and offers variety with different playstyles. While the story is awesome with peaks that make up for some of the slog moments, the story can get a bit confusing, like around the end. The story is also understood better if you’re familiar with the original source material, but this game can still stand on its own. Also, the OST is a banger.

I really wanted to enjoy this game more. I would consider myself a die-hard Square Enix fan and have played the original FF7 multiple times through. I have 3 main problems with the game. First, the combat is incredibly rigid and can get boring really quickly. I would have hoped that this game's combat could be as fun / fluid as another square game, Kingdom Hearts 2 (made ~15 years before this one) but it's just not. There are barely any opportunities to add depth to your combos, and it feels like once you hit the attack button you lose control of your character for a significant amount of time. There's also very little mobility a lot of the time. I often felt like I was spamming the dodge button just to move at a reasonable pace during combat. And don't even get me started on playing as Barret for almost an entire chapter. Worst gameplay experience ever. Secondly, I understand that the game is influenced by anime tropes, but the interactions of the characters are very cringe worthy and sometimes just don't make sense. Part of this is probably just to fill time since this game covers about 6 hours of playtime in the original game with ~30 hours of playtime. One really odd example is when you first meet up with Tifa and she gets you an apartment. She tells you to go to bed and you retire to the room, there's a cutscene where you try going to bed but can't, and then Tifa shows up again unprompted, asks Cloud "what're you up to" and then after a brief awkward interaction just says "Well you should go to bed" and leaves. Like, how unnatural and weird is it to tell someone to get some rest and then shortly after barge in, ask one or two questions, and then insist they actually rest? Just a total waste of a scene honestly. There are also a couple of times where the game locks you into an interaction with the NPC's in order to teach you a mechanic that is already incredibly obvious. One of these weird interactions was near the beginning of chapter 6 where you have to deactivate some lights to direct power to some doors. Tifa insists that you follow her up a ladder to have some exposition about the light sources, and to my surprise, when I decided to just go over to the button and turn it off to open the door, the game wouldn't even let me hit the button. Then, I talked to Tifa and after a short cutscene she told me to press the same button I wanted to earlier, and when I did, she says "great job cloud!". It's honestly pretty insulting to me that you're forced into that exposition where you're told what to do and then treated like you figured something out after being explicitly told what to do, with the added frustration of being locked out of figuring it out for yourself. It's just bad game design. Lastly, I think there are a lot of moments that just felt clunky when traversing the world. There are countless times where you have to have a small "cutscene" to walk inbetween two closely spaced objects, or hop over a random piece of debris, but again the engine doesn't let you feel like you have control and the interaction is slow enough that it feels like an intentional moment to get you to notice _something_ that just isn't really there. This is especially true in Chapter 16 when Tifa has to climb into the guard shack to grab a keycard and when Cloud has to crawl through the vents in the shinra building _SO SLOWLY_.

It's wild to me that Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade Part One Subsection A, Article 1 is called a remake, even if only the first installment. There’s a very meta moment where a character basically looks past the camera, straight to the player, and says: “This is our story now.” It’s a bold move, but I respect Square’s intention to retell the events of Final Fantasy VII instead of strictly remaking them. I loved the original, and Remake does nothing to tarnish its legacy—in fact, it embraces and polishes it. Make no mistake: fans of the original game are going to feel right at home in this reimagining of Midgar. All of your favorite characters make an appearance, as well as a handful of “OC do not steal” newbies—some more bearable than others. (Chadley is buns.) It’s still the story of Avalanche’s rebellion, Shinra’s overwhelming stranglehold on the Earth, and Cloud versus Sephiroth... but it’s also about fate, choice, and divergence. This isn’t a 1:1 recreation of the original Midgar arc—it’s a reinterpretation that pays homage and does its own thing in spades. If there's one area where Remake absolutely shines, it's the combat. Square took the slow, methodical turn-based system of the original and transformed it into a frantic, stylish, real-time action battler without losing the spirit of the original game's strategy. The system masterfully balances action-RPG mechanics with tactical decision-making through the ATB bar. As you dance around the battlefield—dodging, blocking, positioning, slicing—you're constantly thinking: What am I gonna do when I get that ATB charge? Do I heal? Cast a spell? Fire off a Braver or Triple Slash? It creates a constant rhythm and tension, where each ATB use feels impactful. Boss fights are also incredibly well-done. Every major encounter feels handcrafted, with phases, mechanics, and spectacle that wouldn't feel out of place in a modern FFXIV raid. It rewards smart play and punishes flailing around and button-mashing, because it wants you to think. And when it all clicks—when you find yourself racing through encounters knowing EXACTLY when you've got a charge, or when you need a heal, or when your Limit Break is up—it feels so damn good. One thing that can’t be denied: Remake had infinitely more resources and tech at its disposal than the original. Instead of relying solely on charm, mystery, and the occasional awkward polygonal hug, it has a massive boon in its favor—a phenomenal voice cast. Every major character is brought to life with nuance, and their presence holds real weight. Cloud’s aloof detachment feels less vague and more like a defense mechanism. Tifa’s warm, grounded demeanor can give way to something deeper and more haunted. Barret is still bombastic and over-the-top, but there’s real heart underneath the shouting. And Aerith is an absolute scene-stealer—on the surface she’s playful and clever, but behind it all is a quiet sadness the voice direction absolutely nails. Beyond the voice work, the expanded dialogue and cutscenes help every character feel more personable and real. Jesse, Biggs, and Wedge were characters that held all the importance of a name in the original, but each have their own arcs and importance in the remake. There's a sincerity in the character work that's rare to find in games, and I think both the writers and voice actors deserve a huge congratulations for pulling it off so well. One common criticism aimed at Remake is how it stretches the original game’s Midgar section—a few hours long in the 1997 release—into a full, feature-length game. But here’s my rebuttal: even playing just the main content and skipping most side quests, it still took me over 20 hours, and I sincerely think there was hardly a moment of wasted time. Remake doesn’t just bring its characters to life—it brings the world to life. We’re not just told Midgar is a slum; we’re shown it. We’re not fed exposition about Shinra’s evil; we watch them actively destroy lives. I genuinely enjoyed seeing this grand, fleshed-out version of a world that once only existed in low-res textures and implication. I think that Remake is an incredible demonstration of what a "remake" can be. Would I have been mad if this game was a perfect replica in every sense, with only updated graphics and music? Absolutely not. That would've also been sick. But this is more than that; it's a continuation of FF VII as a saga—an extension of the original idea, not a replacement. And I’m more than excited to see it through to the end. Cinematic playthrough: https://youtu.be/r4aqDfdsTdY

If this game had a turn based combat like Clair Obscure it would be a masterpiece, but its is a fine game, nothing too special, every square game nowadays is just a clumsy and lazy variation of the FFXIV battle system....

I really enjoyed the first part of the story — the way it builds and is written kept me hooked. The characters feel real, the story and lore are amazing. After playing original, Crisis Core, Remake, and Rebirth, I think FFVII is one of the best, most carefully made games out there. セフィロス大好き!!

Back in my early teen years, when I was heavily into JRPGs, I never understood why Final Fantasy 7 was considered to be so great. I’d played almost every FF at that point, and 7 didn’t stand out at all when I considered FF6, FF9, and FF12. For me, those were the ones that stood out. But after replaying FF7 a few years ago, it clicked. It made sense why people love that game so much. I still wouldn’t consider it amongst my favourites from the franchise, but it’s definitely a great game. I had a similar experience with Remake. When I played it for the first time at launch, it felt slow, clunky, and the pacing seriously dragged. I came out of the game appreciating the graphics, music, the ending, and some characters more like Aerith. But mostly I just wanted to be done with it. That didn’t happen with my recent replay. I wanted to take my time, and I enjoyed the modern Midgar they created. I loved the character interactions and how they expanded on old ones and added new ones into the mix. I found the combat system to have a great amount of depth to it as well. It still has its share of pretty annoying issues, but I’m able to forgive many of them because it does an incredible job at capturing that feeling of oppression and magic that the Midgar section of the PSX game holds. Other than that, though, it’s helped me appreciate how good this game looks and the mix of realism and traditional FF animations works well for the most part. I say that because the voice acting and character animations clash sometimes and come off as awkward. The exaggerated movements we see so frequently in FF games are here, and I’m all for that. But sometimes they don’t mesh too well with how the voice actors delivered their lines. But when it works, it works very well. The actual story is very similar to the original, just some things changed around and some new things here and there. But it's largely the same, just stretched out from 6-8 hours to close to 30. And that’s usually a cause for concern, but they did a good job of not making it feel like it was dragging about 80% of the time. It still has pacing issues, mainly in chapters 5, 6, and 11. They aren’t great and are the worst chapters in the game. They drag for much longer than they should, and don’t offer any interesting encounters or events along the way. I feel like chapters 5 and 6 should’ve been combined and cut down. And chapter 11 should’ve been half of its size, especially considering that at that point in the story, we should be rushing to stop a huge metal plate from crushing people along with their homes. I don’t dislike it as a section in the remake, because the bosses are cool. But it’s placed very poorly in the story sequence. Other things that hurt the pacing include traversal moments in the game, aka walking through cracks in a wall, walking a tightrope, etc. The game also forced me to walk very slowly way more frequently than I’d have liked. If I want to stop to listen to the character dialogue or to look at the scenery, I’ll stop and take a look myself. With that being said, my favourite chapters were 9, 12, and the last few. I thought they were amazing. They have decent side quests, great character interactions, fun scenarios, and fun enemy encounters. The game’s ending is also really good. I remember when I first played the game, it was the thing that interested me the most, and I still feel that way. Although I feel more positive about the rest of the game as well. I do wish they didn’t change the final line in the game, though. The original line was perfect and got Aerith’s anxiety across very well. The chapters I’ve yet to mention thus far range from decent to good. And the actual side quests are decently fun. Some are definitely better than others, like the party never stops, which is my favourite quest line in the game, since its just good old silly Final Fantasy shit. A lot of the side quests include newly introduced characters to FF7. These new characters range from ok to great. Johnny is pretty hilarious and a great time during the middle portion of the game. I know he was in the original, but he’s barely a character there and feels completely different here. He reminded me of other Final Fantasy characters like Zell, but leaning more into the wacky, dumb stuff. And I was all for it. This game in general felt like it needed more wacky and silly stuff, which Intergrade leaned into, and I hope to see Rebirth lean into it as well when I play it. As for the actual level design of the game, it lacks anything interesting, to be honest. It’s very linear and obvious what to do next, and the encounters are mostly forced, meaning you can’t run away from many fights. The encounter design isn’t bad, though, and combat is quite fun, especially on hard mode. So I didn’t mind too much. It does feel a little stale towards the end, though. I get that you’re supposed to feel boxed in, and then the world opens up in Rebirth after leaving Midgar, but sometimes it genuinely hurts the exploration of the game. Touching on combat, I do wish hard mode were available from the get-go because it teaches the mechanics of the game to the player far better by punishing poor play. You can finish normal mode with your eyes closed, but hard mode makes the player need to utilise mechanics better, especially since you have no access to items during battle. It also brings the deeper mechanics to the surface to show how much depth there really is in the combat system. It made me appreciate it much more. If the combat was a bit faster and had proper air combos that weren’t so barebones and clunky to tackle airborne enemies, it’d genuinely be fantastic. Of course, the music is just as amazing as I remember, honestly even more so. It takes the original already cinematic soundtrack and elevates it to feel even grander. The genre-bending also adds to it and makes for some pretty cool experimentation in the music. Intergrade has equally amazing music that sometimes made me just stop and listen for dozens of minutes. Speaking of Intergrade, I liked it quite a bit. It made me want to hop into Rebirth ASAP. It’s sillier than Remake, as mentioned, but still hits those emotional punches. I’m all for this personally, I’ve always found Final Fantasy’s sense of humour and over exaggeration to be hilarious. The cutscenes in Intergrade didn’t feel as stilted as a number of the ones in Remake did. Everyone’s more animated, sure, but the voice acting and editing of the scenes help make it feel a lot more natural here. I always found Yuffie in the OG FF7 to be annoying and one of my least favourite party members, but she’s pretty good in Intergrade. I enjoyed this version of her A LOT more than the original, and I’m happy I feel that way cus her character design and outfit look great. The combat in Intergrade is very fun as well, it’s faster paced and feels slightly smoother. At times, it reminded me of Kingdom Hearts II’s combat system, especially with the synergy mechanic, which reminded me of limits from that game. Probably some of the best praise I can give a video game, considering KH2 is my favourite game. I’m glad I had a much better time with both FF7 and FF7 Remake on my replays because I have some friends who adore these games, and for years, I never really understood why. I still wouldn’t say I adore them, but there are definitely things about them I love. And Remake does a good job at giving a modern look into what that genre-defining game from the late 90s could look like. And I’m very curious how they proceed with the rest of the trilogy because it has some of my favourite sections in the original, but also some of the worst. It feels like they have the opportunity to fix some of the issues that came with the era the game was created, and also try some new ideas with the ever-evolving technology we have now. I’m very excited to see how Rebirth and the final game turn out. 7.5/10

Something is wrong with the PC port. Sometimes when I launch, it basically melts my PC and I have to hard reset. I've got a 4080 Super and Ryzen 7800X3D, and have no issues with other games (except the Lego ones - damn, they're cursed).

I have a mixed feeling about this game. I'm happy that i'm able to see one of my favorite FF games meets some modern touches. The design, graphics, music it's all there. The characters, the environment feels more alive, and I love it. The gameplay is what surprised me the most, tbh I prefer turn-based FF games (FF-X is my favorite in terms of gameplay), but this Remake gameplay is actually not that bad, in short it's like a hybrid between action and turn-based. I kinda like it especially when playing on Hard (still prefer turn-based tho). Now, the story is the part where I don't really like it. Rather than calling it a "remake" they should call it alternative story or whatever. The story isn't that much different from the OG at the beginning but towards the end they added more things that wasn't exist in the OG. In short. By itself, this game is a solid JRPG game. But as remake, I'm not going to say it's bad, because I like some part of it, but this is clearly not a 1:1 Remake.

My only complain about this game is how unnecessarily grindy it is when it comes to perfecting the achievements. Overall, it's an amazing Final Fantasy game. The story is compelling, both main and side characters are likeable, and most importantly the battle system is amazing. It deserves the recognition it gets from the fans setting aside the nostalgia it brings. P.S. Shout out to my friends who helped me get this game. I'll forever be grateful to your generosity.

This game was lot of fun the dlc was amazing to play but replaying chapter 9 so many times just to get a full completion was dumb. Don't do a 100% completion run if you value your sanity.

I have mixed feelings about this game. I look back at it after playing it and think wow they really put the story together well, but while actually playing the game, so many parts of the gameplay were torture to get through. The puzzles in the game are super easy and require almost no thought, but the process of completing them takes so long and is so dragged out. There's no fast travel in the game, so you need to walk everywhere even if it's back and forth. A few points in the game, a character will be talking to you while your walking to your next destination, and the game forces you to walk at the slowest pace possible. Like slower than any game I think I've ever played. Not even over exaggerated, all the things I just mentioned probably give the game 10 hours of playtime, to game that really should be able to be completed in like 15hours for the main story. Yuffies story after the game was much better, and nice see how it tied into the main games timeline. It was great seeing my childhood game in updated graphics, and I will be playing rebirth, but honestly I would give this game a 7/10. The fact that it is nostalgic to me is probably giving it an extra point or 2. If you're new to the series and just played this one, I'm not sure you would really enjoy it to be honest. I guess I'll still give it a thumbs up...

In my opinion, they ruined this game completely. Yeah, graphics are really nice but the summons are completely useless and changing from the OG turn based to this real time action sucks. FF has gone down hill for years and this hasn't changed my mind. While the FF online is good for most people, this remake...well, I wish it didn't exist. The summons spells are what made the original game great and the way they chose to implement them in this game, ruined them in my opinion. While some may like the new version of the game...cool, but for me, I think it was a big step back. I'm also not interested in the removal of turn based even though some call it antiquated. Didn't stop Baldur's gate 3 from selling tons of copies did it?

Startlingly bad frame times in combat, and somehow, even in pre-renders cutscences. Game design is overly modern, safe, padded with plenty a down time to accommodate first time gamers, and focus tested. Melee combat is automated with no meaningful frame data, automatic gap closing, automated parrying. Mandatory prescribed gameplay mechanics such as the pressure/stagger system whereby all combat encounters require you to start by holding x to 'pressure' an enemy, at which point you must stop holding x, then select the correct Simon says magic color that the enemy is weak to, after which do a mixture of holding x or using meter based attacks (press 'F' to awesome game design). Unfortunately the story premise is interesting, but the game is overly accessible to low-skill audiences in a way that makes it inaccessible to gamers with legacy skill.

Faithful recreation of the story, plus embellishments. Combat is fun. If you're feeling nostalgic for FF7 but don't want to replay the original, this is a really satisfying way to do that.

Pretty solid game honestly. The game is actually made really well in a lot of areas. The story is awesome, and the worldbuilding is great as well. The humor (and fanservice) is corny at times, but is still entertaining. The combat system is quite interesting too, albeit a little bit confusing at the start. This game really feels like you're playing through a 30 hour long movie, for better or worse. There are SO MANY cutscenes, which is great for the game's narrative but not great for my attention span. Most of the parts of the game that weren't good were bearable, at least. I don't really know who greenlit the motorcycle fight sequences because there's no way anyone on the entire planet thinks those are fun. Some minigames and bossfights are also poorly designed, but none of them were challenging enough to cause any actual frustration. Honestly, if I had played this game when I was in high school when the game came out, I think it would've been one of my favorite games of all time. Now, my standards are a little higher from a game design perspective, so I'll leave it at an 8/10. I'll probably update this review once I beat the DLC and 100% the game.

I was really looking forward to playing this after recently revisiting the original FFVII and seeing all the reviews and youtube vids about the remake... but in all honesty, I'm 40hrs in and the game feels like a chore to play. They could have made an open world Midgar where you use the subway system to get around but what we have here is an extremely linear game with some really boring level design (and i mean boring). Here are the main problems with this game: -Extremely linear levels with almost zero exploration. -Side quests that will make you want to uninstall (finding some kids lost cats, smashing crates within a time limit) -At 40hrs... i still dont understand the combat system. You can beat almost anything by just using Cloud and mashing attack. And if there are any harder enemies, you need a crystal ball to prep the correct materia for their weaknesses. -Immersion: Ive always loved FF7's aesthetic , a kind of futuristic steampunk like the trains powered by mako and the clothes the party wears. Sadly, thats where it ends in this game. Your party are the only people with huge weapons strapped to them or guns for arms or quirky clothing with bolt threads poking out. Literally every other NPC in the game just looks like a person from our reality... trainers, shorts, skin fade, mobile phones. Seriously, what were they thinking? Honestly, go play the original... Someones just released a fully voice acted mod for it and it is insane.

When I play the Original FF7 I was late to the punch so found it to be a meh final fantasy, well so many see it as the best one. Now playing this one its just amazing. Getting to feel like how it must of been in the ps1 days since it was so ahead of it's time for back then. The twin pack on sale is absolutely worth it. We need remakes and not remastered. So amazing, game rebuilt from the ground up and not just a remastered where they just redo the textures and call it a day.

This game pulls you in with great characters, good combat, and good graphics and then throws slop after slop at you. The story is fine, but is not worth 25+ hours of gameplay. It is very drawn out and almost nothing happens start to finish. Enemy encounters are boring and feel like they're only there to boost playtime. A good portion of the game is spent without sprint for some reason and any time you cross a bridge or any sort of ledge the game decides that you need to cross it like you're a turtle on a tightrope. All of this was fine for me, up until chapter 17 where the game kicks the difficulty up into the moon and puts you into 3 extremely hard, drawn out bosses in a row. A common theme with the bosses of this game is to give them very few moves and then jack their health into oblivion. It's not uncommon for a 5 move boss to take you 30 minutes for 1 try. The only way to make this playable is to lower the difficulty for that chapter, and I recommend putting it back up for chapter 18 since the bosses there aren't too bad. Finally, the ending is a nothing-burger, but I guess that's to be expected with a game that's only one third of the entire story.

Probably the worst game I've played in years. It's linear, combat is boring and the story is terrible. The cutscenes and story events are full of awkward staring, grunting, long pauses and slow talking. And they are FREQUENT! The game constantly forces you to look at things for way too long and slows you down for no reason. There are vast pointless areas that you have to run or walk slowly through. The relationships make absolutely no sense and are the opposite of compelling. A couple hours into the game I realized it wasn't getting better but I made the mistake of continuing to play. I wish I had paid attention to the bad reviews because they were the only honest ones. Do not waste your money

Outstanding game that takes you back to when you were a young lad and you had to picture all this in your mind. Well what was in my mind perfectly matched this classic masterpiece.

Never Played the original but man I really like this game. I finished this game months ago btw and now writing a review for some reason anyways. the story of this game is amazing in my opinion. The characters (mainly the important ones) feel real and when I say that I mean the voice acting is really good and believable and the way characters talk to each other feels like actual people talking to each other IDK a better way to describe it. My only problem is that the ending is confussing. Will 100% play the original one day.

This is not a real remake of Final Fantasy 7, as firstly only a small part of the plot of the old game is taken up and secondly there are permanent references to the plot of the old game in script scenes. Even if the game doesn't meet the expectations of many fans, it's still great. I can only recommend it, but together with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and the third game in the series. To understand the story, although I knew the old game, I watched a very good four-hour video that explained all the background that wasn't obvious.

It's a beautiful game. Hits the nostalgia notes. The combat is fast paced and fun. Even regular battles are cinematic. The story is of course so insanely good. The characters are likeable or made unlikeable on purpose and it works so well. Also, Tifa. <3

I love this game so much, it features a great story (even though its just part one). The combat is of course one of the biggest players in making a Final Fantasy great, I loved a lot of the optional enemies as hard as they were. I'm looking foreword to how Rebirth further enhances the game-play loop.

It's pretty good, but at a price. For every awesome sequence or great joke you can expect to do a pretty boring filler sequence. It has the charm and creativity to pull it off, but it's on thin ice.

I beat this on the PS4 when it first came out and I absolutely loved it. Didn't and still don't have a PS5 so couldn't check out the dlc. Now I can and it looks and plays better on my PC. There is one issue I run into with a white screen. Randomly I've gotten a white screen in the game. Can't see anything. You have to either pause the game and access the upgrade section. That refreshes the screen and fixes the white issue. Otherwise, if you're in battle, you have pause and open up photo mode. Then it goes away. It's weird, but easily fixable. Just annoying.

inal Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is a masterpiece that breathes new life into a beloved classic. The dialogue is sharp, witty, and emotionally resonant, bringing the characters to life in a way that feels fresh yet nostalgic. The story is gripping, blending intense action with heartfelt moments that kept me hooked from start to finish. The gameplay is an absolute blast—seamless combat, strategic depth, and stunning visuals make every battle exhilarating. Whether you're a longtime fan or a newcomer, this game is a must-play for its captivating narrative and addictive mechanics!

Do yourself a favor a don't buy this game. The combat is done in a way to be intentionally frustrating and the game is genuinely not fun. Bought it on bundle with the 2nd game, and cannot get a refund because I played the first for too long. But I was mostly just forcing myself to play hoping it would get better. Square Enix lost a lot of my love on this one.

I like Turn Based games as much as the next guy but I think the action works here really well. Runs great Looks even better File Size compression is definitely better than XVI Dialogue may be cringe at times but This is near Cinema 9/10.

One of my greatest experiences I have ever had playing an RPG. It has so much nostalgia, so much dialogue, the world feels far more alive than I could have ever imagined. I recommend every gamer play this game. Combat style is extremely unique and fun for every fight. Boss battles require so much strategy.

Played and finished the game on PS4 on release day. To play it again 5+ years later, but this time in 4k and 120FPS feels absolutly amazing. It's such a gem of a game. I got the feedback that it's very non-gamer friendly in terms of experiencing a great story without having played much else before hand.

Story is great but it still hasn't reached the peak of it yet, at first the story may feel a bit repetitive but as soon as you progress the story gets more interesting and the ending was great as well. Combat mechanics is fantastic and very easy to use, which makes it incredibly satisfying. DLC content was great the introduction of 2 characters that was unexpected appeared and they are straight up aura farming. Overall the game is great and very fun to play. Would Recommmend

FF is a fantastic series due to it's sheer variety in play-styles & diverse stories. This is without a doubt my favorite entry, and the remake was done in a way that proved this narrative got better with more detail. If you're looking at getting into the series, this is a fantastic place to start!

Graphics are by far the best thing about this game, it looks amazing. I actually enjoy the game play while it can have slow parts throughout it overall kept my attention when playing. How the combat and materia work I thoroughly enjoy as well, I have spent hours at this point changing what materia are on the weapons to go through bosses easier. Definitely recommend this game if you're looking to spend time in this is the game
