I'm not sure why this game gets the hate that it does. It's a solid Rune Factory game, with all of the good and bad that entails. It's 3d instead of 2d but in general it is the same combat, farming, and relationship building that goes with all the RF games. It has it's own uniqueness and new features, but nothing that does disservice to the franchise or anything.

Rune Factory 5 is honestly the worst game in the series and it makes me kinda sad to say that because I loved Rune Factory 4. Rune Factory 5 feels under baked and really needed at least 1 to 2 years more in development because everything from how the player moves and how the areas looks it honestly make feels like it was rushed out. I tried to give it a chance but couldn't really get into to it. I recommend to ether buy on a serious discount or skip it all together and buy Rune Factory 4, Rune Factory 3, or Rune Factory Guardians of Azuma.

Oof... This one is too clunky whether you play it on steam deck or on PC, the controls are just... bad. I couldn't bring myself to play it more. The story is a snooze fest and bachelors/ettes are not very well written. Overall I felt as if I woke up in a bad anime. Do not recommend.

I really don't get some peoples gripes about this one. Big one I've seen people complain about is the UI and... I'm gonna be for real, I don't see much difference between this and RF4 or 3. Idk. Maybe it's just me, but seems like a non-issue. I enjoyed myself. Characters are fun, voice acting is really good, the town looks beautiful. Solid game.

Great game! I did many things that I normally can't do in real life, like talking to girls and eventually starting a family in a cozy but quiet suburban town. It's an amazing experience and tons of fun. Scarlett is such a cutie patooie

Extremely difficult to play on deck. Requires using an old version of Proton just to boot, cutscenes show black screens, correct controller inputs completely missing and HUD takes up the majority of the screen. If you want to install mods to fix these issues and tinker with it, then thats fine. But don't expect this game to even remotely work on deck without considerable effort.

It is not as strong as rf4 but its still a solid rune factory game, I enjoy a good amount of the characters and it feels way better on pc compared to switch

I loved it, I actually played it on Switch and bought it here for reply when on sale. I've also played 4 special and 4, Guardians of Azuma, and I just bought 3 Special. I am always happy to see a game advance with the times. I don't want to see the same thing over and over. I appreciate when things evolve so I really enjoyed this enough to want to replay it. I really hope 6 uses this art style. I hate the way the player character looks in 4 special, just odd. Things I didn't like about this entry, furniture placement is BAD! Too much space between the wall and the item and other items. Please allow a toggle for grid placement on and off, so you can snap things straight but also place things closer to each other and allow us to rotate things so we can place items on all walls. I really don't understand all the hate here. This is really a good game other than decorating. Decorating is a must in cozy type games these days and I would call this cozy, so looking forward to what the next one holds.

I love rune factory! I think aside for the graphics and combat it's an all around good experience. The Characters, writing, story, music and other mechanics are done very well, balancing is a bit off but that's because it's meant for all gamers, not just hardcore. Weather you want to settle down calmly or chase loot and make profit this is a game that'll feed your cravings.

Is it a game they threw together in a cave with a box of scraps? Yes. But now with the fan patches and knowing that this isn't the end of this series I can safely say that this one is Okay. Mostly. Mostly Okay with the patches they released and when you use the fan fix. It used to be so annoying to do farming when it first launched even, but they did fix that up as well. Ignoring the wonky nature of it all, the truth is that if you loved Rune Factory 4 then you'll probably like this because it follows the exact footsteps as that one. You're even thrust in a leadership position of this town for another Just Because reason and you got the same crazy deep optimization and grinding you know and love from these games. The parts that really matter like the funny dialogue and goofy character events are still there and what you'd expect and the dungeon crawling is still pretty fun. Everything that really matters is intact still. Once you get past the initial shock of how it looks worse than an N64 game at parts, it's really not bad. Though most of that is greatly lessened because I know now that the series isn't doomed and this isn't the last entry.

I am still in the early game, so far Rune Factory 5 is charming and I am enjoying it. However, this is not a great PC port. Settings are done externally and there does not see to be a 4K resolution option. I would recommend buying this on a discount and picking up something like borderless gaming to make the 1080p borderless window fill the entire screen.
