Loved this game during early access. Devs completely ignored all community feedback and killed the game. They finally fixed most the issues the playerbase had, but they did it reluctantly after they had already pushed all the players away. This was set to be an amazing multiplayer experience that was ruined by the lead developer Yaw's arrogance and inability to accept feedback or understand how to balance an MMO economy.

OMGGGG this game is so frustrating! The battles are far too long, with a ridiculous 10-second wait between each attack. It's impossible to have fun when I'm constantly waiting for my turn. Please, fix this game. Just add a flag for offline players like me. Absolutely hate it. Sorry.

It's not Pokemon, but honestly, this does everything that I wish Pokemon did when I was a kid ✨ Temtem is basically “Pokémon as an MMO,” and that’s exactly what it sets out to be. As someone who grew up on Pokémon, this felt like stepping into an alternate timeline where Game Freak actually modernized the formula, but it’s not Pokémon. The devs clearly worked hard to build a similar experience without crossing legal lines, and that shows in the core design. + Tactical Combat: Every battle is a double battle, requiring more strategy than just trading hits. You can’t spam your best moves either, attacks are tied to a stamina system, which forces thoughtful play. Stronger moves may only be available after a few turns, and pushing past your stamina bar punishes you. + Unique Type System: Instead of the usual Fire/Water/Grass triangle, Temtem has types like Digital, Crystal, and Wind. I found this harder to learn at first; mostly because I’m used to Pokémon logic, but the system is clearly well thought-out. + Strong UI & Modern Features: The UI is excellent: clean, modern, and actually looks next-gen. Load times were incredibly fast for an MMO. Pronoun options in character creation were a great touch that added inclusivity I wish more games had, especially games like Pokémon. – Weak Story: The core story didn’t hold my interest. Like Pokémon, it felt skippable, just a reason to walk between fights. For a game that nails so many mechanical improvements, the writing felt like a missed opportunity. – MMO World Feels Messy: Seeing other players just freeze in place when they enter battle, often clipping into each other, made the world feel cluttered. I would’ve liked a simple “disable other players” toggle to enjoy the game solo without distractions. Personal Context: I haven’t played an MMO seriously since RuneScape Classic, so some of the live-player noise might be more frustrating to me than others. But I still think a cleaner solo experience should be an option, especially with how polished the rest of the game feels. Final Rating: 7.8 / 10 It’s a smart, tactical, well-polished evolution of the monster battler formula. Just don’t expect a great story or a clean MMO world.

This game is the perfect example of Ego killing Potential, and why it never works when devs ignore what players want and instead just tell them what they want.

This could have been the game that represented the future of pokemon'ish games... but well, like palworld the community liked it but that isn't always enough i guess.

I've played this game solo for a bit and honestly it's one of the most fun experiences I've had playing a monster collector. Like Cassette Beasts pretty much every encounter is a double battle which is quite interesting. All the designs are pretty cute and badass so that checks all the boxes for that. The game play is pretty unique from monster collectors I've played like Pokemon. Attacks can't miss but it does consume the stamina of the tem that uses it and if you go over it takes damage proportional to the stamina used. It's kinda sick and very engaging. The typing is pretty dope too, I've never seen a digital typing before and it's kind of fun. The experience of this game definitely isn't worth $45 but if you ever see it on sale you need to grab it. It's super fun, I haven't gotten to the MMO part of the game yet so idk how that is but I'm kind of excited for it to happen. I'm enjoying my experience so far and I'm happy that there's replayablity

A truly terrible experience, mediocre gameplay coated in some of the worst writing for a monster catcher i've ever played. A racist invading army, so you tell them to eat poop. truly truly wretched.

Game just feels like a cheap copy of pokemon. nothing new, nothing fancy, got bored of it immediately. I was expecting a similar vibe, not a 1 for 1 copy.

Bought this back in 2022 for $35 around its release date because I was excited for a creature collector that was hopefully co-op and not boring (aka P0k3M0N). I haven't touched it since and am finally writing a review. Like a lot of other reviews have said, let me choose my team and become attached/connected to it. Also, don't make me grind and don't just be a clone of what is already out there. What is already out there is so boring and too easy. TLDR; I want my $35 and 19 hours of my life back

Pretty solid effort. 20$ price point makes sense.

Pronouns. Online only. It's got a battle pass. It was way over priced. I'm very glad I picked this up on sale for 12.59. Don't pay anymore for this crap. I may refund it at a later date.

I’m enjoying this as someone who likes collection games. I like to collect my little guys snd this is certainly filling in that need. This is to say that the near constant npc’s to fight get annoying after a while (every corner was another battle and I’m almost always broke from buying balms and revives so I don’t have to run back to a healing station after every single fight) and the fact you have a whole section where your team gets taken from you, forcing you to use a “back up team” was… less than enjoyable. Haven’t finished the game just yet but Imm having a pretty okay time with it. Someone was really sweet when I first started and traded me a bunch of tems for free. I dunno if I would recommend this at full price but $12 on sale wasn’t so bad for what I’ve gotten out of it.

Temtem is a solid, ambitious take on the monster-collecting genre. It clearly draws inspiration from Pokémon, but adds its own twist with a more challenging combat system, full co-op support, and a persistent online world. The battles are turn-based but more strategic — stamina replaces PP, and double battles are the standard, making every move count. Tem designs vary from charming to forgettable, but the effort in world-building and lore is obvious. It’s not perfect — the pacing can drag, and the story is hit or miss — but the competitive depth and MMO elements give it real staying power. If you’re looking for a more skill-based, online creature-collector with frequent updates, Temtem delivers something unique.
