It's a dead game littered with bugs along with missing kickstarter stuff with them moving on to a diffrent game

I want to make it clear that I have thoroughly enjoyed this game up until this point. It is fun and creative and intuitive. If you are looking for a game to do a quick run or two as a break throughout your day then this definitely works well. However at this point I cannot recommend it because this game, despite it being almost 2 years old since its release, is still riddled with bugs. Most bugs are just frustrating to deal with usually appearing when you reload the game mid run. There has been a couple times where it soft locked on me. Right now I am just trying to get the achievements and seemingly simple one of getting 5 shivs just isn't working. If there is more to it than just getting 5 shivs, then they NEED to make it more clear. From the looks of it, the developer has moved on to another game, but this one still needs some patching. From looking at other comments, I am not the only one frustrated by this.

Bug ridden and the devs keep talking but never actually fixing game breaking bugs

If you really enjoy the core mechanics you can get good mileage out of this game, but I found it to be at the same time both repetitive and boring, while also bloated with tagged on and poorly considered mechanics. Lots of potential, but both times I've tried to pick it up I found myself bored by my fourth run.

Just no...as much as I like to rinse and repeat in a game, this game doesn't bring me joy in doing that. I hate how I have to ditch this save that just to fill up something from the town. And no, I do not like building or decoration town that much, I would love to keep on grab and go more than this.

Broken promises (that people paid for), broken gameplay, and a communication cycle between devs and players that can only be described as broken. The entire game had a lot of promise, but everywhere you will look there will be bugs upon bugs. They haven't updated the game in half a year despite still needing to add SIX characters they promised on Kickstarter (which they received a total of $200K for), with little to no talking onto their plans or future roadmap. Instead they released a new game into EA and quickly abandoned it as well.

Roguelite Dungeon Crawler with magic backpack managemen and just a tiny bit of town management. Save often, buggy.

This is...fine. I can play it around my kids, it's not necessarily BAD in any way, but it does wear out its welcome pretty quickly. I've only played it as much as I have because my daughter liked watching me make "Girl Mouse" fight "monsters."

Warning. I Bought this on steam 21 days ago for like 14 Dollars. Only for it to Suddenly go 100% off on epic games Next week on July third. Well the good news is. It was a great game Featuring new mechanics that gaming has never really done before. and they do it in a cool and fun way. its a great game to play alone when waiting for a steam friend to come online too. totally recommend. For like 20-80 minute long gameplays During free time if you waiting for a friend to come online. Still. it was a great game. But I Could have saved some good money by waiting longer. for that 100% off deal next week. And to make things worse. It is currently on sale ON STEAM for like TWO DOLLARS CHEAPER Right now too. But anyway. it was still a great game to play for a while. So I Guess I Can't be mad. its still a good game.

Beautiful game! Had a heap of fun playing this, from start to finish. Between ocd organisation and fun combat, this had me hooked. Highly recommend!

Classic 8-bit side swipe nostalgia. It's really nice and relaxing if you're trying to pass time. I've not had a complaint in my hours of game play. I still feel like I'm only scratching the surface because I'm not going out of my way for achievements, just casual playing the different modes and characters with their types. It's a nice change. It's very creative and original as I've never seen anything else like this and I find it a great idea of a game. Highly recommended to at least try it out.

The art quality ranges from charming to "mixed"; not a lot of effort seems to have gone into the town for instance. But the core gameplay loop is extremely fun. I find some characters to be the right kind of challenge and others to be impenetrable and confusing, but thankfully you mostly have leeway to choose who you play. Strongly recommend, especially if it's on sale.

Although there are a few bugs leftover from a seasonal event, and a rework of curse mechanics, this game is cute and addicting. I find myself losing track of time as I say "just 1 more run, I want that item".

Would like to give this game a mixed rating. The gameplay is pretty great and fun making progress. tldr: Indie "team" release a good game, hardly do minimum updates & move on. But even tho they made over 200k on kickstarter and probably made a decent gain here on steam they gave up on the game almost exactly one year after release. There is still lots of bugs and they did not do all the kickstarter goals. The team seems to be small, 4 person with credits on itch io, and Jaspel seems to be the main guy. Probably just hired the others for art/music. So staying with the game a fixing it up and doing the minimum kickstarter goals is not unreasonable. Now they released another game in EA without any updates for 5 months, seems to be a another Vampire Survivors clone. financially "they" should probably just refund the ones that bought it and start working on backpack hero again. The good publicity would probably earn them more money then this new game ever will. Sorry for bad english. Got dyslexia & second language.

Not a perfect game but still very good. It felt challenging and engaging when I first started playing, but at this point I've played enough that the game often feels either tedious/easy or not fun/impossibly difficult depending on which challenge or character I'm playing. I also really dislike playing as Tote. Besides that, the whole inventory management concept is cool and fun, and I'm really glad I discovered this game. It really scratches the itch in my brain that loves organizing things and creating the perfect build. I would definitely recommend this game, but my advice would be to save often when playing characters other than Purse and Satchel because they can be a bit buggy, and sometimes I need to exit out of the game without saving because of a glitch.

A twist on roguelikes where strategic inventory management is key. The combat is chill, but way more addicting than you'd expect from simply organizing a backpack
