Star Control®: Origins

Despite the story being not quite as good as the original Star Control - I still enjoyed playing this one. If you like space exploration and meeting aliens in a game that doesn't take itself too seriously - give it a go. Don't bother with the expansion though.

I enjoyed this game. It's a lighthearted space exploration game with real time 2D space battles. There's definitely a sweet spot for a casual gamers as it's not an overly complex game. I did not play the original Star Control series but plan to go back to check them out. There are some elements that feel like there is room for improvement; but I hope they work that out in a future iteration. As is, it is

this game get's a lot of negative press from the issues Stardock had with the original creators, and whilst this game isn't as charming as SC2, it's still pretty good!
