Saints Row 1 & 2 laid the foundation for a franchise that could’ve genuinely rivaled Rockstar’s GTA. They built a gritty, grounded world with strong characters and compelling urban storytelling. Then Saints Row: The Third came along and shifted everything—it went full AAA spectacle. While it had some creative ideas and memorable moments, it started turning the series into a parody of itself. By the time Saints Row IV hit, the franchise had completely jumped the shark. It was still fun to mess around in, but let’s be honest—it obliterated any remaining trace of what the series originally stood for. Then came the reboot. It felt like a rushed, unfocused attempt to re-capture the lightning of The Third, while also trying to reboot the story from scratch. There was a chance for redemption if they had taken the tone and world seriously again. But instead, they doubled down on the goofy, over-the-top humor—except without the charm or satire that made it work before. The result? A shallow, inconsistent mess of a story and a tone that feels like it has no clue what it wants to be. In chasing the success of The Third, they lost what made Saints Row special to begin with—and in the process, ended up sabotaging their own legacy. The ideal path forward? A fresh studio formed by the original devs, crafting a new IP that captures the essence of what made Saints Row 1 and 2 great—tight gameplay, street-level drama, and that gritty, grounded world. Leave behind the over-the-top sci-fi antics and return to something real, immersive, and character-driven.

I was a wild fan of the series of this game back when I was a little brat. I literally grew up with this games. And honestly, I'm disappointed. After the wonderful Saints Row 2, 3, 4 and more or less sufficient standalone DLC, it feels like a spit in the soul from Volition. These are not the saints that were before. I understand that this is the point, that this is a completely different game and a different plot, but it feels like a huge handful of humor has been taken out of the game and drama has been added that doesn't fit at all I'm not going to write a huge essay on why I didn't like this game, but the most annoying thing for me is the characters. They're not memorable! Even as a child, I used to piss myself from Shaundi, from her charisma and appearance. I don't even think it's worth talking about Johnny Gat and Aisha, they're icons. Kinzie, Matt Miller, Pierce... Well, who gives a fuck about Pierce? And even the DeWynter sisters. And what characters are there in this game? The boss (of course), a mechanic with the most miserable "dramatic" story arc, a lawyer, a shirtless cook and a Snickerdoddle . That's the whole cast of saints, incredible! But I should mention that I really enjoyed the "A Song of Ice and Dust" DLC, it was really funny, I had a blast playing it. Also, the customization system did not disappoint, they did a good job on it, and the weapons and cars left a good impression. But everything else didn't impress me at all In the end, I want to say that if you have never played Saints Row, then I recommend buying this game with a good discount, maybe you will like it. But I strongly advise you to play the previous games, they are much better

Grab it now while it's cheap. ( 80% of writing this review ) Game has flaws but is still dumb good fun just building your empire and murdering your way through gangs, cops and whatever bullshit is thrown your way.. just like SR 1.. before all this fancy crap that people got used to.

as a game that's about shooting and driving and side activities it's fine for 10 bucks. as a saints row game it sucks and is such an insult to the fans/the story/etc. i thought ppl were being harsh but it deserves every bit of hate or critique it gets.

This game is a hot pile of mess. It has decent gameplay and all, and the story is kinda niche, but what I really hate about it is how unstable it is. DirectX 12 crashes like every cutscene, Volkan crashes when I start the game up, and DirectX 11 just crashes whenever it wants to. It has caused me to have to repeat missions several times, and also lose items or vehicles. Not only that, there's so many other game-breaking bugs in here, it just feels like it was rushed and not polished properly. One of the fast travel points won't allow you to get it no matter what you do, so you can't 100% the game. You want to play multiplayer? Think again. It will either leave you on the loading screen forever or when the few times it DOES load, it will bug out so bad that you either crash or leave out of boredom. Fix your game.

i was half tempted to not get this because of the negative reviews and even the negativity surrounding it but for 5$ on sale it's a solid game, i recently wanted to jump back into a saints row title mainly for how ridiculous they can be and it ain't that bad. As a saints row game is it good? i'm not gonna beat a dead horse. I was a massive fan of 3 and this is my first time back in a while but the game itself is fun, getting around is easy and the combat is smooth as well. The humor is there sofar and the ridiculousness continues.

got this game white it was on sale its OK if you liked saints row before this is very different you can complete the game in 20 hours or less if you move fast and i don't know what that game is suppose to be it moves away from the city space moving more to a mix of city and desert map where its confusing i never went into the desert there was no need to that kind of the whole game nothing that you do effects the world it seems people still go on you see your crew roam the streets but other then that nothing changes by the end of it no plan to expand or idea to tie up loose ends the story was very basic and comes down to we want it so we take it without any consequences for there actions and if there are they are cleared up in 2 missions why make this game i will never understand no real substance to it none of the characters are like able it feels very forced with the plot as well its just boring I'm not interested in any of the characters after the story they are very one note characters

The writing in this game is it's biggest shortcoming. Honestly- the gameplay isn't bad for Saints Row and there is a genuine ton of content to interact with. The gunplay would be 100% fine to me if enemies were staggered more by being shot instead of just spongey. For 6 dollars I forced my friends to get this and play with me and it's been a total blast. For 30 dollars you should just buy another game. If you like Saints Row gameplay I would totally buy this game on sale and play with friends for the character customization and side-content alone. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME AT FULL PRICE, and especially DO NOT BUY IF YOU CAN'T TOLERATE SKIPPING EVERY CUTSCENE. Talkin bout' Mug-mosas... sybau

I loved the previous Saints Row titles, but this game is a disappointment. The controls feel broken, the driving and running are frustrating, and it’s all made worse by how buggy it is.

This game got some bad reviews, but I think that's unfair. True, it may not be very original and the story is short, but it's a great game to just have good old fun. You can customize your character, clothes and cars to your heart's extent (even midgame if you want to play with a different character), there's plenty to do in Santo Ileso, and although short, the story is fun. It was a good decision stepping away from the series that went on too long with Saints Row IV. The only thing I wish they'd improve is the audio: this is ill-balanced, and the advanced options don't help to mitigate this. I see how that could be a show-stopper for audiophiles, but for most I'd say don't miss out on this piece of entertainment.

Worst game ever for an updated 2023 for the franchise so far played saints row 4 remastered on xbox as a kid and that one was way better minus the weapon and certain side mission parts of the game and it's so bad that the remasted version of the first saints row game wasn't remastered enough yeah they might of changed things but a remaster is suposed to be about mainly improving it and not having bugs what so ever this remastered saint row game pissed me of sooo bad i deem it one of the most frustrating game do to the bugs i would of been fine enjoying this game with many many less bugs and things not functioning properly if you like saints rows games avoied playing this saint row remasterd game unless they fix the bugs of course

First off, this game (presently) works perfectly fine with Steam Deck. It's a good game. There's a lot to do - I'm about 40 hours or so in as I write this, and I would guess have covered about half of it, and I think I'll finish it too. There's a lot to like - it's well-presented, quite well-written. The city itself is interesting, quite different to other similar environments. I also like the actual empire-building nature of the game - it actually does feel like you're making something, like you're taking over the city, launching new criminal enterprises and such. It's a good game! There are mixed reviews, and I get that. It's not completely unearned. The vehicle handling takes some time to get used to, to be honest, it feels a bit flabby at first. You get used to it. You *have* to sort out the driving audio by reducing the sound of anything that isn't cars by 2/3. It also starts a bit slow - it feels a bit empty until you're about five or six story missions in and have started building your empire. I think part of people's reaction to this is vibes-based - the series keeps resetting itself, so if you're already a series fan, it's not what you want it to be, and if you're not, it's not GTAV. It's not serious enough to please fans of 1 and 2, it's not zany enough to please fans of 4 and 5, it's too Gen Z to be The Third again. Still - meet it for what it is in good faith, and I think you'll probably have a good time.

At the time of posting (6/26/25) this game is deeply on sale and it is a MUST BUY. Does the game have a bad rep? Yeah. Is it deserved? Ehhhh... it has flaws but alot of the performance issues and stuff are gone. I will warn you the intro will make you question the purchase but the gameplay after is SO GOOD. Its more arcade than like a GTA, but it does give Saints Row 2 feels with some silliness splashed in. The LARP questline is amazing and has some brilliant cutscenes throughout the game. Get it. Seriously.

Great, silly fun. It can get a bit boring and repetitive at times, and certain factors in isolation (such as driving and shooting) are average on their own, although as a package deal, it's great fun. Not perfect, not bug-free, and not a polished and lively world. It is, however, definitely fun.

Hmmmm this game. Initially, I was going to write a review after the first hour or two of playing this game, but I accidentally clicked out of the review after having written a whole paragraph. I was annoyed at first and decided I'd come back to make my review later. I now see why that happened (spiritually, I guess you can say). Although I still stand by some of my initial opinions, they have slightly shifted. Firstly, I think that if you go into this game being a Saints Row fan, you will find yourself being annoyed. This game doesn't have nearly as much raunchy dramatic flair as the Saints Row we know and love. The cars mostly suck, the outfits/stores suck horribly, the personalities of everyone in this game is...corny? Lame? It feels like whoever was in the writing room drawing up these personalities, did so with the intention to make them appeal to "the youth" as much as possible and it's very obvious. Saints Row is known for its raunchiness and there is very little, if none of that. Now other than those things, if you can separate this game from its title, I think you'll enjoy it! It's a pretty decent game and I didn't hate playing it once I treated it like a game outside of the Saints Row franchise. I think if you can do that, it's worth buying and playing!

this is not Saints Row this is dog crap this not the Saints Row I knew and loved the best Saints Row games will always be Saints Row 1 & 2 in my mind they started to fall off with Saints Row 3 I will admit that the super powers in Saints Row 4 and Gat Out Of Hell were cool that's just about all they had going for them but this game was never about super powers it was about gangs and customization I think Volition and Deep Sliver went in a completely wrong direction with this game they missed the mark they're trying to be something they're not Saints Row has always been its own thing and Saints Row 1 & 2 will always have a place in my heart but this game is a disgrace to Saints Row I can tell by the characters this game is totally woke as well the dialog is super boring volition & deep silver don't ever make another Saints Row game again let it die you've ruined something that was once great this game is garbage i can't even recognize it as a Saints Row game there was also that Agents Of Mayhem spin off game but that sucked too it seems like a lot of game companies nowadays don't really care about making great games they only care about the money that's why i'll never never buy another COD game I've been done with COD I only see Rockstar and Bethesda making great games there may be a few other companies but I can't list them off the top of my head I wish game companies cared more about making great games I never post reviews on steam but this game was so horrible I had to post a review Saints Row more like Saints Blows! Saints Row 1 & 2 forever RIP Saints Row as an OG Saints Row player i'm telling you this right now don't buy this dumpster fire of a game buy some other game totally not worth the $30 to $40 this is a sad excuse of a game it should honestly be free even if it was it's still not worth playing at all I would give it two thumbs down!!! 0 stars 0 percent & 0 out of 10 dumpster fire cash grab do yourself a favor and buy some other game this one is a complete waste of money & time this is just not it I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone this game should be forgotten about

This game is a joke — and not in the fun, aesthetic way Saints Row used to be. From the very start, the experience is frustrating. The graphics settings are shockingly bad, featuring some of the worst brightness and contrast options I’ve ever seen in a modern release. It’s as if basic visual customization was an afterthought. As a longtime fan, it’s heartbreaking to see how far the series has fallen. Saints Row 2 was packed with charm, character, and pure fun. This reboot has none of that. It’s dull, lifeless, and completely lacking the spirit that made the originals so beloved. Do yourself a favor: skip this one and replay the classics instead.

Just finished the main campaign, still have a ton of *real* content to play with. Love the constant banter between characters during the missions, makes even semi-grinding missions far more enjoyable and immersive. The voice acting is superb, and with the "boss" having 8 voices to choose from, I wonder how different another playthrough might feel. I've found that this is where a lot of the modern A - AAA games go dreadfully wrong, terrible voice acting with limited repetitive interactions (looking at you Watchdogs Legion). The little details also show a certain amount of love was put into the game, things like the waffle being dropped on the floor in the interactive part, and having it still be there in the non-interactive cut sequence that followed, so many games would have just had the waffle vanish into the ether once the gag was over. It's not a perfect game, but then none of the Saint's games have ever been, I generally play them for what they are, a parody of GTA style games, with their over the top completely non-realistic physics, crazy character dialog, and as long as you're not a complete idiot, almost invincible main character that doesn't need any kind of covering or stealth mechanics, just run in guns blazing and soak up those bullets like a giant sponge. Vehicle handling is much better than most of the modern AAA's I've played in the last 10 years or so, it's not super realistic, but very playful and quite fun. Something other titles released around the same time completely failed at (i.e. Cyberpunk 2077, driving still sucks after countless patches). I guess my only real complaint is the vehicle and pedestrian spawn rates, they're far too low, and there doesn't appear to be a method to adjust it, the world often feels a little too empty, especially in the larger city areas. After a quest they can be completely empty until people and cars that spawn at the borders of your visibility slowly close the distance. I purchased the gold edition with most of the addons included for about $11 CDN and definitely got more than my money's worth, with some of the lack of polish, NPC's that occasionally seize up, and the occasional crash (~5 times over my 16 hours so far) I'm not sure if I would consider paying full price, but if you can find it on sale and enjoyed the previous versions, it's worth a playthorugh.

God Forbid you get a towing cable upgrade for a bike and the lead flips...there's no way to get back on. or that bug where the main menu won't open and you can't get out of your car, meaning you lose all progress since your last autosave which could be upto 2 hours worth of progress.... But it's a fun game, so I thumbs up it once I get over the bugs. Protip: When they say DX12 is recommended for your old computer they MEAN it. The DX11 is much more buggy in my experience.

I played Saints Row: Reboot originally when it came out for free on the Epic Store. I finished it, but then decided to buy it on a 50% discount on Steam, so personally I don't think it was that bad, but neither was it great. I replayed it now again after completing Saints Row The Third: Remastered. Saints Row 3 is an old friend, so playing it first allowed me to do a better point by point comparison with the 2022 reboot. PROS The graphics. Not much to say, it is a few years later, so graphics and animations are much better. (Some) of the activities. As in the best Saints Rows, some activities were awesome, while others sucked big time (looking at you Insurance Fraud). The concept of the Ventures are cool for taking over the city, but some were weird and annoying to complete. MEH Some cool guns. While you can change their looks, they do not change their looks with upgrades. Probably an either or situation. Too many vehicles for me to care about. Too many vehicle and gun customization for me to care about. The level cap at 20. I suppose this was to keep the game a bit more of a challenge and not turn you into a literal god. The cap of the number of perks. Probably again to keep you from becoming op. CONS Story. It was bland. The twist at the end? Bland. The antagonist? Cool. His motivation? Just... stupid. Your housemates / homies are bland af. Some of the venture crews are bland af. Not enough sexy. So not a bad game, but while it has its own brand of enjoyable crazy, it missed the mark by everything being... "safe". And by safe you know what I mean. Where are the ho's at? Why do I have fat and ugly crew members? Not game breaking, but not making it as good as it could have been.

To be honest I don't get all the hate for this game. For me it is on par with SR3 and 4. Yes, it's a reboot so main characters were changed... so what? Who cares about Jonny Gat? Gat's dead, baby. The only downsides for me were bad performance on DX12 with my new 5060ti (DX11 works fine but less FPS) and most of side missions are boring, but the core gameplay and plot were solid. Overall 8/10. What the hay?! This game is perfectly serviceable. I avoided it for years thanks to the voice of the cattl-- ahem, the public consensus. Even though the characters are not the most memorable, the dialog is NOT cringe. The graphics are pretty good for a massive open world, both driving and shooting are very solid, and even improves upon plenty in SR3. I also had ZERO crashes, bugs and otherwise technical trouble using DX12 on Nvidia. The few aspects this enormously mistreated game falls short of are easily ignored, like the rather boring history collectibles and the condensed down skill tree. Give it a fair chance on sale before listening to the fat redditors.
