It is time
This game is basically an isometric, a bit more polished, a bit more casual version of Valheim.
Hold on, don't go.
Here is why this is worth your time and money.
Valheim is a game that feels designed for a multiplayer experience.
Len's Island feels more like a personal journey than anything else even though they just added co op.
There is grind, but there is comparatively less grind. The combat system may not have a stamina system, but it does have a cooldown system with much heavier emphasis on your positioning/use of dodge/certain weapon skills. This makes the combat more risk/reward and more skill reliant.
Do you want to know what this game has that Valheim despite having more variety currently fails at? MEANINGFUL BASE RAIDS.
Every x days, there are harvest nights. If you don't go to bed to transition the night you will be attacked by LARGE WAVES of enemies making your base design actually important as they will try to chew through your walls and buildings to reach your bed and tuck you in permanently. They will also destroy your stuff (the stuff in your chests drop to the ground).
So what can you do?
Well, you can build walls, but get this, YOU CAN ACTUALLY BUILD AUTOMATED DEFENSE TOWERS THAT ACTUALLY ASSIST YOU THAT YOU ALSO NEED TO SUPPLY WITH AMMO!
That isn't all. There are resource camps strewn across the world that can give you harder to acquire resources. But you also need to defend them against raids every once in a while. I have personally not reached this experience yet, but I know they exist.
One negative however is performance optimization. You will get frame drops randomly even if you have a beefy system. This sucks during extended fights.

Disclaimer: I played entirely solo. Your results may vary (Especially in multiplayer)
EDIT: I have now tested multiplayer. Pretty decent for the most part. Open world can be very laggy when traveling together at high speeds. Otherwise, no notes. More content please!! <3
The backbones of Len's Island are fantastic. Some of the best I have ever seen on a launch game on Steam.
The movement and animations feel super clean. The hitboxes feel good. The building system is complex enough to let me design what I imagine, but simple enough that I don't need an hour long youtube tutorial to figure it out.
The quality of life in this game is THROUGH THE ROOF. Inventory system is absolutely stellar, not having to sort my inventory, dump items to fit other stuff, and never feeling like I am lacking on space after the first backpack upgrade feels great.
Cutting down a tree that hits another tree knocks that tree down in a domino effect. It is a very small thing, but tons of very clean small things like that pop up constantly while I am playing. Every few minutes I audibly say "Wow, that is slick."
Exploration feels great. Controlling the boats feels great. The little tidal slipstream currents to get around the map faster are a brilliant addition that most developers would have just never though of.
The progression feels good. I saw reviews complaining that obtaining resources was grindy and never got faster, but with the proper skill trees and gear I get a ton of materials of anything that isn't intended to be rare or valuable (the bottom 95% of materials)
You can plop down universal storage boxes anywhere you want, they connect across the world so you can trade between bases without making multiple round-trips. You can build a teleportation network to quickly access important locations or to traverse between bases quickly.
I found each activity and mini-game to be familiar but new and well done. Fishing for example is a standard in survival games, the fishing mini-game is not like any i've tried before but it was instantly intuitive and fishing is rewarding.
My major complaint, and this is a pretty big complaint:
The game has EXCELLENT backbones. A fantastic foundation. But there needs to be more to it. It felt like right about the time I got geared up and into the meat and potatoes of the game, I had already seen all that there is to see and do almost all there is to do.
I am very hopeful and excited to see what gets added to the game in future updates.
For an example: There are only like 8 different fish in the entire game. I'd like to see 50.
There are like 6 different types of islands, i'd like to see 30-40.
More gear, more dungeons, more of basically everything.
But the hard part, the core of the game, is fantastic. So I guess my recommendation is: Buy it on sale, expect maybe 10-20 hours out of it if you really milk it. Otherwise, keep an eye on this game for updates and DLC because I expect in a few years, if the devs keep updating it fairly often, this will be a top tier open world survival game on par with the popularity of games like Valheim.
This Game Has Received More Love Than a Golden Retriever at a Kids’ Party
About four or five years ago, when I played Len’s Island for the first time, it had just one town and one dungeon. Since then, I’ve been watching it evolve from a part-time, almost hobby-like project into a lovingly crafted indie release.
I think everybody can get a good grasp of the game just from the screenshots, so I’ll just add some points beyond that.
- Outside of visiting dungeons, the game can be played "at your own pace" at all times. There is never a feeling of a "timer running." Even the day and night cycle doesn’t interfere with your gameplay in any annoying way.
- Every game mechanic that proved unenjoyable or even mildly annoying has been improved and polished over the years through close communication with the Discord community.
- The crafting progression is easy to follow and always gives you enough tasks to work on, without being overwhelming.
- Movement and combat are "easy to learn, tough to master." WASD + mouse feels very intuitive, and controller support was also added during development.
- Len’s Island allows you to progress however you wish.
You can start by just building, farming, and selling in peace for weeks or even months to make money a non-issue before taking on any islands, giving you an easier time over the course of the game. Or you can choose to take on tougher challenges early and focus more on improving your combat and movement skills.
I’m now at 457 hours — with more to come — on a game that cost me 20 bucks in early access. I couldn’t have asked for more.
For me, this game is a masterpiece. May you all enjoy it as I did.

Looking through the negative reviews Im not quite sure why the game is getting them. Ive seen complaints about there being no quick swap. There is. The tooltip says when you hover over an item "Quick Swap: Double Click". Also seen complaint about how short the story is. Im 8 hours in and only on act 2 of 4. If you rush the story then yes its going to be a short game but this game is a lot more than the story. Also seen complaints about it not "Reinventing the wheel" Why does every game need to reinvent the wheel? It has a lot of fun mechanics that are done fairly well. Considering its a $30 indie game Id say its pretty damn good and well worth the money. Sure there are some bugs and jank but Im having a good time with it.
TL;DR A lot of the complaints in these reviews are unfounded and game is good.

Really fun and chill game containing survival + ARPG elements, Custom difficulty was game changer. Different QoL updates have been added on release from early access. Also free weekend was game changer(Thank you devs for that) as I was able to play with friends and see the most out of the game. I posted 2 bugs yesterday and within a day, they were fixed(Now 100 percent is achievable) which means a lot.

Sad that this game fell off the rails during EA and marketing was better then game design - they didn't polish and fix any of the things I had expected when first playing EA way back when it released - most glaringly the gamepad support (true support) and UI/accessibility. Regret this purchase.

This game has the right ingredients, but clunky controls combined with a steep difficulty curve and grindy gameplay have made the experience more frustrating than fun so far. I'm still following the tutorial and have been tasked with completing the first dungeon, but got to a point where I just get destroyed over and over again and there really isn't much telling me what I am doing wrong. Maybe it will get better if I stick with it, but I feel like I need a break from the game right now and who knows whether that break will end?

Great game!
Spent many hours playing it, it's a very fun and adictive game.
Smooth movimentation, good combat mechanic, easy mining, farming, building, craft and exploring.
Easy to learn and I really liked the shopping design.
Also, you can go fishing and play blackjack! I loved it!
Very recommended!

It seems quite clear after a few hours of play that the praise this game garnered was related to it's potential, rather than what was actually available. This is a fairly poor example of the genre. The controls aren't great, there are little to no explanations and everything from combat to crafting to interacting with the anvil and workbench is just....weird. Nothing flows well at all.
I can't recommend this to anyone who is a fan of the genre. There just isn't much going on here worthy of mention.
Edit - Upon further play, I can say a bit more. The cameria is atrocious. It constantly resets itself, and without a minimap, it's just a nightmare. Combat doesn't really exist as such...you dodge and jump wildly while waiting for your AOE attack to refresh, hit it, then jumjp and dodge about till you can do it again. All the mobs simply beeline directly at you. The inventory and crafting systems are just very clunky. You can get used to them, sure, but this is 2025 and you'd expect something more functional.
This game had tons of potential but it just hasn't been realized. I think the best words I can describe this as would be 'shallow' and 'clunky'. Hopefully down the road it will be improved but for now I would stay away and wait to see what happens in the future.
Not sure why people say this is copied - game clearly has problems, and most people who don't like it caught on to them fast. Same problems, same comments in reviews. Ridiculous to claim otherwise.

Note:I'll edit the review after 1.0 and make a detailed review about this game.

A very shallow casual game that is not worth the price. It's a decent little game if you want some arpg type combat and base building as a sort of side game to kill time but it's very repetitive and has way too little content. You can see all the metals in one of the screenshots here and the tier progress in the trailer video, so basically 5 tiers of weapons that are quite quick to go through. 15 hours in and I'm already at the point that I could start upgrading to the last tier. I found a few exotic items all of which were disappointing and I received a notification that I finished the quest to find all exotic items.
The combat is decent at best. Pretty trivial once you know the enemies which you will see in every dungeon. There is variation but it's very limited. This game has enemies that throw you in the air. If you jump and they do that move, you will fly so high that you die when you land. That is probably the biggest "challenge" I've seen so far.

I played it when it was early access and now when it's released.
It's a fun concept, but it's incredibly grindy. You need a Salvaged Metal or Machine Parts for almost everything. Upgrades, buildings, metal bars. Both of which can only be found in barrels and are semi-rare.
You also need Coin but it's also pretty grindy to get.
The combat is repetitive and a little clanky.
It's at times very tedious. At least single player.

Chill survival crafting game. You can build a cozy home, farm crops, or dive into dungeons for some action. Combat’s engaging with a rhythm-based crit system, though the archery feels off.
The visuals are colorful and inviting with a day-night cycle.
There’s a light story about escaping a mysterious void and uncovering island secrets, but it’s not deep or gripping. The game leans hard on exploration and player freedom, which is great if you love making your own goals but can feel aimless if you want more direction.
Overall It’s a solid indie game with a lot of potential, especially for fans of survival or crafting games like Minecraft, Stardew Vallely or even Valheim. Worth trying out for sure!

removed things like controller support which it was sold as having only to take it out for 1.0 (dev has replied basically it's still there but they feel it was so lacking they couldn't put it no the product page. it was fine to sell me the game like that, but now they are walking back on their promises, but hey they did take that time and add sharks to the game. shark are a much more important feature to Len's Island than accessibility options they sold to disabled gamers on a lie so they could get the money to even finish the game.)

Combat is clunky and not much fun. I unlocked the dungeon and dodged off the first stone bridge, below that bridge is a waterfall where my character proceeded to land, fall, land, fall, and die. Respawning in the Dungeon Entrance placed me back in the waterfall. So I respawned at home, and returned to find that my gear is just gone. This means that all of my loot, five hours worth of game time, is permanently lost.
For the developers. First, get rid of the ability to walk through enemies. This causes the enemies to walk directly through the shield and stand on your face, making a shield nearly worthless. Second, make 100% certain that bodies after death are always accessible. I played for 5 hours and lost all of that progress due to a bug. Third, make aiming intuitive instead of targeting your mouse. If I press E with the Iron Sword my character should go towards the enemy I am fighting not some random direction. You could add a targeting lock on type of system which would improve this a lot.
The game was fun for the crafting side of it, but I HATE wasting my time and losing all of that progress.

The user experience, even after waiting for release 1.0, is rough. "Build thing." Okay, how do I do that exactly? "Enter the mines at Bridgewater." Okay, where is Bridgewater, and more importantly, since there aren't labels on anything, how do I know it's Bridgewater? When I build a house, it's really painful to build multiple stories. I can't easily scroll up to see the taller stories and the actively prevents me from doing so.
I want to like the game, and maybe they'll do some quality of life updates. As it stands, I can't recommend it until they improve things.

Content is enjoyable but technicalities ruin the game into the ground.
Buggiest game I played this year - Disappearing terrain, disappearing boats, disappearing death bags and crop growth is nonsensical (either never grows or grows instantly when planted)
Performance also needs to be checked - I have a RTX 4070 and can run STALKER 2 at 60 fps but I'm getting 40-60 FPS in decorated areas in Len's Island (not an UE5 game)
The game only needs about 3GB of memory to run but need about 10-30 seconds to load into a cave or dungeon. How can it possibly take so long?
Congratulations on leaving early access but respectfully I expected more for a full release
I'll change my review after these are fixed

This game is REALLY GOOD. But ruined by the janky camera you can never get right that just takes off after you set it. Would be having 100 times more fun if they just free'd up the camera that can clearly go wherever you need it to.

Had Blast with it. good content. streamlined game progression. Recommend to play with Friend over Solo.
8/10 overall, reasonable store price = content. Map is Unique, randomized. Combat is great.
my feedback: shield need to rework for parry/block with better hotkey. camera control on RMB is kinda conflict with shield (tried to rebind Q default Hotkey to RMB or Mouse 4) so i ended up relied on dodging 100% of time with lightweight enchanted armor,
Mostly Positive for me

giving it a thumbs down based on the question "would i recommend playing this to others?" but would be more accurate to give it a sidways thumb cuz its not necessarily bad but its not good. Im mostly going to air out my grievances i had while playing
Biggest criticism i have with this game is the feeling of fighting the damn camera throughout the whole game.
Exploration is very meh, most islands dont have much on them aside from maybe a crafting design, or materials and alot of the ocean is very empty. combine that with the fact that sailing is very slow before you get your "big" boat, and still fairly slow even after it makes exploring not fun. To sum it up, it takes a while, and there is not really much rewards to look forward to. honestly you could skip exploring all together and it wouldnt impact your game much.
The building had potential but is very limited. the main issue is that just about everything needs to be build on foundations (the floor) but foundations can be finicky to place, and have way way way to large of a "snap to nearby foundation" range if you are trying to put 2 near eachother but disconnected. there is also only 4 sets (5 if you buy dlc) of building block patterns.
Outposts cost too much coin imo, atleast to unlock and the defensive capabilities are also too expensive for early on.
Early on coin is very limited and the best way to farm money is to quite literally farm flowers and sell them, which takes a while (1 coin per flower) and outpost starting cost is 500 if you dont have the skillpoint that 50% off them. Defensive options require alot of gears which is one of the biggest limiters throughout 2/3ds of the game (for the crossbow towers) and even then you need a ton of them to be somewhat effective at actually defending an outpost even if you make choke points with walls. defending your outposts yourself early on is not a great option because they are spread out across the sea and as i said before, sailing is slow. Also often encountered a bug at my metal outpost that caused a ton of enemies to end up spawning stuck in the sea invulnerable and tanking my framerate (i have screenshots)
Dungeons felt very tedious, and combat in general is very meh to downright annoying as there is only like 7 enemy types total if you exclude bosses (and no im not including burning varients either because its the same enemy just on fire). speaking of fire who thought it would be a great idea to make a ton of enemies later in the game to set you on fire if you touch them, and even better who thought it smart to make the burning rune set enemies on fire who can then set you on fire. both of these rule out a fair amount of the very limited selection of weapons because fire damage does alot even with some elemental resistances. the bigger bosses are very annoying because you can get "stuck" on them, you cant roll through them which can easily lead to taking huge chunks of damage. There is also very quickly no reason to actually explore the later dungeons because youll go into them pretty much maxed out and the only rewards are random materials from chests/barrels which leads to you pretty much running past everything trying to get to the end as fast as possible. the worst part of minor dungeons however is that when you finish them you need to run all the way back to the start. a waste of 3~5min.
the enchantments are very boring and very skewed, lighting is vastly superior to the fire as it does more damage faster (10 per hit and some weapons can hit 3times a sec) vs the 15dps burning inflicts with the added benifit of not lighting yourself on fire. extention is good but all the other enchantments besides the 3 listed here are very boring general stat increases. would be neat if they took the mining explosion one and gave it to the other weapons at like a 5% chance or something. The bow probs gets shafted the hardest because not only can you not upgrade it to the red tier where it can equip 2 enchantments but it also lacks access to most of the other damage enchantments and only can get 10% damage buff or the option to shoot 2 arrows per shot. 2 slots and access to lightning enchantment couldve made bow usable for anything other then hunting
the attack pets have a really annoying audio que whenever they trigger and they feel really finicky to use (since they only attack around them yet they only follow you, they dont seek out enemies. Loot pets are nice in theory but most of the time what drops as loot is already ontop of you which you auto pick up. not to mention that the loot pets generally only try to pick up items once so if your inventory is full at that time theyll just leave it on the ground (even after you empty your inventory which is about the only usecase the pets could have). Also the pets seem to get stuck everywhere and sometimes when i travel to different islands my pets will just vanish..
Other small complaints,
wheat is the only (that i noticed) item that you have to specifically click on the picture in your inventory to select. other items you can click anywhere on their bar to select.
Towns are very boring
Small graphical errors, (such as floating lampposts in the mine)
got hit by a slam attack once and got yeeted into another dimension
overall the game feels very meh, halfbaked and still like an early access game to me.

In short, amazing game. We took the free weekend deal and couldn't stop playing. The game is really a chill, casual experience, but it also provides quite a challenge if you up the difficulty. The progression is so good that you don't ever feel like you're grinding to get something. Inventory, sleeping, food, it's something all casual survival games should look upon from this game. Bought it, of course, and all recommendations! Job superbly well done, devs!

the game feels really...empty? or repeating, so basically there is only a few monsters and variant of items, regardless of upgrade level, it just feels like you using same thing but higher value to do exact the same content again and again for the whole game. dungeon exploration is kinda boring too, i thought it has randomly generated dungeons or somekind of randomly generated gears so at least it makes you feel rewarding or keeps you feel interesting about exploration. but not really, dungeons are only those premade ones, and the map is actually not that interesting designed either (in dungeons), farming is rather boring as basically just wait it to finish, also without adjustions in setting, resources are kinda limited even in caves. in total i actually regret about buying it after spent 10 hours and found nothing different to the first hour

Nothing stands out as particularly good or bad beyond the clunky feeling that permeates everything -- well, that and the awful lag -- but its biggest sin is just that it's kind of boring.
There's no sense of exploration. Guess what's just over the horizon. Did you guess "more trees and rocks"?
There's no fanfare for progression. You upgrade your pickaxe so you can do the same clunky mining animation on slightly different coloured rocks.
I could maybe recommend it if you were purely interested in the building, since the aesthetics are nice, if basic, but the poor UX makes it difficult to enjoy. This may or may not be the devs' first game, but with so many others in this genre out there, I just don't get why they didn't copy a better implementation.
I originally played this on EA launch years ago, long before the procedural generation. My feelings on 1.0 are the exact same as they were for EA launch: it's the building blocks of a better game, arranged without enough care, and experienced through a viscous membrane of jank.
EDIT: Alright, I was a bit too harsh on the building. I stand by the rest, but the building mechanics aren't as jank as the other parts of the game.

I give the game a 4/10, therefore cannot recommend.
TL;DR: Not enough content, little to no enemy variation, dragged on, terrible ending, slap in face to supporters.
At first the game seems like alot of fun, and you are excited to continue but it doesnt take long to realise you were wrong.
1- Does not have enough content. The mining area was a huge let down, thinking it was huge, it was empty with no real purpose to "explore" there.
2- All enemies are practically the same. Only a total of roughly 6/7 enemies, with the typical colour changes to make it seem like more.
3- Content is purposefully dragged to be longer than it should be for the sake of consuming more time, I.E More tedious for the wrong reasons.
4- The last "dungeon" was terrible, and strongly a reason not recommending the game, Was another place filled with the same objectives only more tedious.
5- The game was put "free to play" for the weekend, which at first I thought okay, maybe the game has so much content that the people playing it would have to buy the game afterwards to finish, or maybe even the game would be so good people would want to buy it to support it. But nope, it was just a slap in the face to the people who bought the game in early access, as it could be finished within 1 or 2 sittings. (My time is exaggerated due to me hosting the server for friends and keeping the game on).
I didn't play the demo as when I first found the game Launch was "soon" (delayed from Jan to April to June). and it was going to feature multiplayer. So I didnt want to spoil the experience and play with friends. Additionally the reviews were saying "Valheim" "Vallheim", I don't know what these people saw, as I clearly do not agree. So i waited and I wish I didn't.
I am not even including the bugs in the game (which there are many) as those will probably get fixed with time and are not a core to content/game experience.

I played it for free, thought it was made well and purchased it to help the dev.
Though after playing it for some time now, the weakest parts of the game are the combat and the dungeons, that side of the game is really poor. If it wasn't in the game and the time was spent on more comfy content, it would get a thumbs up for me. I just dislike the combat and the camera view. There's no reason this game can't be third person.

TLDR; 5/10 UX is bad, combat/building is good.
Recommended for ppl that can overlook the problems and *REALLY* love Survival Crafters.
Not Recommenced for anyone else.
The game is very difficult to recommend due to QoL issues and stuttering.
The combat is very well done. The building is very well done.
The UI is missing several QoL features (like double click to move a stack, and "dump all to storage" and "craft from storage") which makes it *feeL* bad.
How the game loads while traveling is a travesty. Game stutters like mad while "loading chunks" when sailing.
Can't control the camera to look forward.
There's no minimap. The main map is the *entire* world, so you can't see details for trying to find you way around. With this 3 problems combined, it makes traveling long distances, esp ocean travel, a PITA. Or if you're looking for something specific, not being able to look forward is a supreme PITA.
Multiplayer works reasonable well... but if you share a boat, you'll see an insane explosion of stuttering.
There's no maps in dungeons at all, which is a bit irritating if you die. They are relatively straight forward, but going down a side path that's already been explored and having to back track is annoying.
Biggest gripe is have absurdly rare ores are. The vast majority of my play time is looking for ores. You could easily spend an entire hour in the mines and not see a single titanium ore. I've got over 75% of the mine explored, and still haven't come across a single vein of the next tier ore.
You can tell this was a small team, and their focus was on "combat", "pretty buildings" but not on "does the game run smoothly", "how's the mining experience", and "hows the User Experience when in the inventory"

I can't recommend this game until the ore in caves bug is fixed. It might not happen to everyone, but I'm unable to mine ores (think stardew like progression) and I'm forced to barter for everything I need. I tried to enjoy the game, but that destroyed my enjoyment of it. I'll update my review if the dev addresses it.

Great game! I played the demo with 4 others friends and I racked up over 20 hours in the weekend!
It was so fun and cozy, especially the building part of the game! We put a lot of effort into making our house look cozy and functional!
My only suggestion for the future is to add a way to turn off snapping and be able to freely place and clip stuff, would be so great for doing detailed builds!
I bought the deluxe edition because of how fun everything was! Keep up the great work :)

Overhaul this game checks a lot of good boxes for me, building, looks, combat, exploration, progression, farming, tower defense etc.
If there is only one point i would love for the game to improve is in the optimization department, specially when it comes to CO-OP.
Once you start building a bit of a bigger base the FPS drops are are insane, going from 120 to the likes of 30fps
Outside of that, incredible experience so far.

I had high hopes for this game. Sadly it's disappointing on release.
1: Biggest issue is the combat. It's both boring and too hard. You dodge until your "E" refreshes, then you power attack. Rinse and repeat. Basic monsters can kill you in a few hits, which is super annoying because there's a lot of them. The first boss, if you follow the tutorial (Which is bland, vague, and misleading), is nearly impossible to beat because you are NOT prepared for it. Pro Tip: get the armor, leave everything at your house, and bring lots of food.
2: The graphics on "Ultra" look not great on my 32" monitors. Not sure what those settings do besides make things have shadows.
3: Inventory management is a bit of a slog. Good idea, but not the best implementation. Everything is in Tab with sub-pages for different groups. Gets a little annoying to navigate after more than a few clicks.
4: Camera gets annoying after a while due to it being fixed. Sometimes you get in weird spots where it's hard to see if you need to jump or walk around.
5: The tutorial isn't very helpful. "Do this thing". How do you go about doing that thing, you might ask? It doesn't say. Granted, it's easy to figure out what to do with a little time, but I can't imagine why the devs wouldn't include at least a little flavor text to streamline things.
Overall it seems as though this game is a significant amounts of polish across almost every aspect.

Game is not worthy of being called full release. Many bugs in multiplayer including crashes, lots of desync issues, latency even when players are on LAN with the host, some players cant see monsters, one of our players crashed and then lost their entire inventory. Also bad frame drops even on a RTX4080.
It needs a lot of technical work under the hood.

I appreciate that there's a defined beginning, middle and end to the game. You can at any time, opt to just do your own thing and enjoy the sandbox, or push content to uncover more secrets and delve deeper into the world. I also enjoy that I'm not being pigeonholed into doing puzzles or exploring via the "intended" solution, there's multiple ways to accomplish the same goal. Combat is a bit simple but otherwise serviceable.

This review is based off me owning the game and my husband playing with me during the free weekend.
Multiplayer lags bad. We both have great computers with fast internet. No other games give us problems so we are certain that the lag issue is with the game itself. We also had issues with achievements popping for my husband but not for myself. I was the host so it doesn't even make sense why it wouldn't work for me. This was a boss specific achievement so I can't try and unlock it without starting over now.
edited to add* Game breaking bug where the host (myself) shows half the base missing and all of the crafting tables as well. My husband could see them but I could not. I logged on after the free weekend and they are still missing for me.
Controls are really bad for this game. As others have stated nothing feels smooth. Everything from farming to crafting is tedious. I was hoping this would get fixed during EA but it is permanently in game.
Mechanics leave a lot to be desired. Instead of a shipping bin like every other game, you have to travel around to random places just to sell your plants. There is so much unnecessary traveling it just makes me feel like a lot of the game-play is just a waste of time.
I will update if there are ever any QoL patches but as of now I would stick with pretty much any other game in this genre.
Ending on a positive note the game is very pretty. I feel like this is where all of the time and effort went into.

Len's Island is the perfect blend of farming, combat, building, resource extraction, exploration, tower defense, and fishing. It doesn't only focus on just one or two mechanics, which I like because if you tire of mining ores down in the caves, you can just head back up to the surface to farm some more crops or explore an unknown island. I enjoy every aspect of the game (except fishing, but I'm just not a big fan of fishing in games).
The stylized graphics are stellar, and the music is an fantastic relaxing vibe.
The entire combat and mining system is built on a crit system so if you attack when the crit marker is active you can chain hits and have a damage bonus. This just makes getting resources much more interesting than just holding down a button.
The underground is split into the caves (less enemies and treasure, but more resources) and the dungeons (more enemies and treasure, but less resources). Combat is simple yet extremely satisfying; slashing down swarms of enemies that vanish in a blast of void energy.
The game has three set game difficulties and a custom difficulty editor, so you can fine tune the difficulty to whatever you want.
While Len's Island is one of my top favorite survival games, the only thing I really have a complaint about (besides fishing, which I do think they implemented well BTW) is the tower defense aspect in the game; where enemies will attack either your base or certain structures, and you have to build defenses and fight them off. This isn't a bad thing, and I do enjoy it, but the whole system just feels kind of awkward as you can't really see the enemies and if they destroy, let's say a wall, it is a pain to replace it, as you have to open the build menu and rebuild it. You can repair damaged structures before they get destroyed using the repair hammer, which is nice.
If you like games that blend chill and action, survival games with beautiful environments, or just plain survival games: I would 100% recommend Len's Island.

Great game with lots of content. Beautiful cute graphics and performs well. Many customizable options. But my main reason the this review is I appreciate the developers are constantly updating ands staying active with the community. They listen to requests and keep making improvements and updated content which is more then I could say for some developers out there. Definitely worth every penny! Highly recommend.

So far, very good. There's a lot to like and the negatives are small enough to not nearly outweigh the positives. I would definitely recommend this one, even as one of the better survival/base building games out there to pick over most others. I have not yet tried multiplayer.
What I love:
- It's generally not a grindy game, and a lot of these games are. Though you need to upgrade your tools as soon as you can. You will find yourself gathering supplies again and again mind, but the game is more interested in getting you doing the stuff you like over some other games that make you put a lot of supply grinding in to make your player home. This feels like the natural progression of these kinds of games over time. It's not perfect in this regard but it seemed to be pretty well done.
- The smaller dungeons are not so varied but the second main dungeon is much more than the first and from the trailer I suspect this is going to be the case for each one. I went into the second dungeon quite cocky and whilst I didn't do badly it was more than I was expecting.
- I love the base building, it's not resource greedy and it's very intuitive/quick. There's a nice amount of variations you can do as well.
- For being the same kind of enemy there is actually pretty good enemy variation and their designs are quite cool.
- The map is pretty good, I like the scale and exploring is interesting. You will occasionally find some secrets.
- The gameplay is addictive and engaging, there's always something to strive for. There is a LOT of content.
- As you play you do notice the nice quality of life bits of game design, like the permanent torches you can light so you know where you've been in the mining dungeon.
Love/hate:
- The mining dungeon is quite interesting to explore and the main supplies are usually not too far away, but there's a bit too much filler because it's such a maze to navigate. The map detail is not great. You can every so often find an exit but I would much prefer it if it was easier to navigate, with a clearer map, and an easier way to exit. Personally I would prefer if I could build bridges over the abyss, and I don't feel like this would be giving the player too much power as the dungeon is huge and the go around isn't going to take forever anyway (just long enough to be a bit of a chore).
- I love the aesthetic bits in base building, I'm just not yet sure how to get some basic furniture. Another table or two and a chair by default could be nice.
Not to love:
- The game can be a bit funny with the panning feature to look further afield. The game can slow down and doesn't render distant islands which would be quite useful as aligning your boat to the direction you need to go in is janky.
- It's a bit demanding at times for a top down game. Maybe this is just an optimisation thing as of typing though.
- I got caught out with needing stone in a dungeon. Nothing indicated that this would be necessary from the regular mining dungeon.
- That big slime cube needs a health nerf. I can beat it, but I don't have all day... I had an enchanted, twice upgraded sword and it took me a LOT of hits.
- It doesn't feel worthwhile to light the combat dungeon lights.

I heard the dev talking about how this game is like an intersection of Diablo and Minecraft. Pretty accurate and the games pretty polished at this stage but does need some tweaking and needs more content.
I like the building mechanics which will be greatly improved when they add an option to move your items around because deleting and replacing your furnace to adjust the position isnt ideal.
Few islands with not much on them (maybe the devs left them for users to build on later on in game?), and the relatively empty and lonely caves make the game feel a little scarce.
Great game just ended up feeling a little short and easy. Definitely pick it up on sale for now!
I turned the difficulty settings up and ill probably restart with harder settings but Im hoping they keep adding more content, new enemies, and expand the map to explore. Looking forward on where the devs take the game in the next few updates.

Very fun, though a bit grindy. It could definitely use some improvements on camera controls, such as unlocking to rotate around 360 degrees as well as allowing better zoom control. There's also some weird things going on with the UI rescaling when you're zoomed in or out.
I've had zero bugs or crashes, and the game plays pretty well. The free weekend and early discount were awesome ways to draw people in, which is why I happily purchased.

Being in your 30s and playing this game with friends is quite nice. It's a chill game where you can go out on adventures and build nice buildings. It's a chill game. I like it.

Camera is terrible, half ass controller support, no mini-map to get your bearings. I was hoping more of a Valheim experience and this is more early access V-Rising. I wish I could get a refund but unfortunately played just over my 2 hours trying to like it.

Great game, really enjoy playing it. Grind so far hasn't been huge. (I'm not a fan of constant grinding) My only request would be to change the camera style. I hate not being able to look up. You can zoom out which is good but it rather be able to look all around. I would recommend this game for sure!

very fun game!
lots of exploration, farming, looting, fighting and of course building
pets to collect, armour and tools to collect and some nice townfolk to meet
Devs are friendly and very community oriented and the game has improved a lot during EA up to this point
I'm absolutely certain they'll keep on improving on whatever the players wish for dearly! :)

A pretty fun survival crafting game with a larger focus on dungeon crawling and combat than many other games in the genre. It's got a lot of solid, fleshed out systems and while the combat is fairly simple, timing your swings for critical hits is very satisfying. I'm still fairly early in the game but I'm having a great time. My only criticisms so far are that some enemies could telegraph their attacks a lot better (especially the larger 4-legged enemies that dash and shoot projectiles, they have almost no wind-up to most of their attacks), and the first boss constantly walking towards you when not attacking led for a few moments of the fight that felt pretty awkward while attacking it.

What starts off feeling like a simple survival game turns into this cosy, addictive adventure that’s equal parts peaceful and exciting. You arrive on a quiet island, build a little shelter, explore nearby caves… and then, suddenly, it’s 10pm and you’re rearranging flower pots and trying to design the perfect farming area.
The gameplay hits such a satisfying balance. Building your home feels creative, not stressful. The dungeons and caves are clever without being frustrating. And every time you discover a new cave system or biome, it genuinely feels rewarding—like you stumbled across a secret just for you. There's no hand-holding, but that’s part of the charm. You learn by doing, by exploring, by making mistakes.
It’s also just beautiful. The stylised graphics give it a timeless feel, and the world is full of personality—from sparkling rivers to eerie underground ruins. Pair that with the calming music and you’ve got the perfect game to unwind with after a long day.
But what really makes Len’s Island stand out is the developer. You can tell this game wasn’t built by a big team—it was clearly a passion project. Updates are frequent, thoughtful, and really responsive to the community. It feels personal, like the developer actually cares how you are experiencing the game.
If you love sandbox games, clever world design, or just want something relaxing with a sense of adventure, you owe it to yourself to try this one. It’s one of those rare titles where you can truly make the experience your own—and enjoy every minute of it.

Great coöp with the better half - seen some complaints about lack of quick sort and building from chests and while these are usually super important to me also, to the point where I'll look for mods for this specific thing in most games, they're just not that much of a barrier for this one?
For the sort function, the way the inventory works in your backpack is already strictly organised, so sorting is just baked in. Maybe some more customisation in that regard would be cool but it's not been an issue at all for us so far! And since most of the chests you use are also specific to types of materials, having to manually sort the three different types of wood in the wood chest/pile is just not that important to us.
As for crafting from chests... yeah, look, at later levels it's looking like it would be more useful but mostly just for cooking bunch of different stuff or upgrading the crafting table (which I think only goes to level 4 anyway) everything else only uses one or two different materials, and your backpack stack limit is very generous, especial at higher levels. So while I do think it would be an improvement, It just hasn't been the hassle that it has been in other games.
All in all very much enjoying it so far!
