Heroes of Hammerwatch

It's been a long time since I played a game I could go back to over and over. HoH1 is that game. A fun roguelike with several classes to choose from, random map generator (for the most part) and a cool way to progress and get stronger. Yeah, common complaints is it's grindy nature and that may turn some people off. But thankfully, there's mod support and there are plenty of mods that make the game... about as less grindy as it gets. If you're looking for a good roguelike, give this game a whirl. Even though HoH2 is sort of pales in comparison to this one, I still would recommend the 2nd HoH too. Get this game and it's DLC!... And maybe a few mods to cut down on the grind some. 8/10

Do you like adventure? Do you like killing hordes of monsters? Do you like leveling up your character? Well, this is the game for you. Worth every cent. And if you are torn between this one and the sequel, get both. They have a slight bit of difference in their styles and mechanics that its just worth it.

I would wait for a sale, as I feel 10 dollars is not worth the tedium in this game. That being said, I enjoyed it for what it is, a petty grindy roguelite. It does get quite samey and grindy, and frankly I'd recommend modding the game if you play solo. The progression is hampered by the taxes, how expensive the later upgrades are, and the very slow exp gain, which all have a fix with mods. But the classes feel fun, abilities are cool and well animated, the combo system is satisfying, and watching your power increase is a satisfying enough loop. Haven't had the chance to play with friends yet, but I imagine that's where it shines best.

Its a great game if you have patience. A lot of patience. Like an absurd amount of patience. The game simply doesn't respect your time, which is super unfortunate as I really do like the game. I just cant recommend something that cares so little for your time.

This game does an amazing job of fighting against you having a good time. I'm 7 hours in and just uninstalled. It's horrifically tedious.

gods awful font hurts my eyes trying to read it one of the worst font's I've seen a game use with no settings that help make it easier to read without squinting
