Wow, this game blew away all my expectations, its just that good to a long time fighting game player who started with SF2 on SNES. Put this version on your wishlist if you plan to get it , on sale its only around $12 with entire series soundtrack https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/4829/?snr=1_7_15__13 EXTREMLY FUN

Ignore my Steam playtime, I have around 200h in the Xbox version since its initial launch: My favourite fighting game of all time, and I've played a *lot* of them. Simple to learn, difficult to master. An absolutely incredible soundtrack, badass character design, stellar net code, and a great amount of single-player content if playing online isn't your thing. Bought every season as they were releasing back on Xbox, and grabbed the Steam version just so I could play it on the go on Steam Deck (it works an absolute treat). Worth every penny.

Arcade to SNES to now, its forever my favorite fighting genre title of all time. I'd love to see a new gen release that brings back all the classic characters while adding new ones. This in Unreal Engine 5.6 would be GOD TIER!!! Thunder, Orchid and Sabrewolf for life! 10/10

One of the best fighting games ever made, I really wish microsoft gave it a chance. But there is still a small and extremely devoted community surrounding this game, so don't be intimidated by the lack of players, that's still more than enough to fill lobbies and the game is crossplay and still very popular on Xbox.

Hidden gem of a fighting game. I really was not expecting to like this as much, but I was dead wrong. You can really feel the love and care placed into this game from the developers. It's a shame that after three seasons, the development came to a halt. This is one fighting game that heavily teaches the player defense before you can go into offense complemented with the more exclusive items like showcasing the frame data and hit/hurt boxes (No fighting game during Killer Instinct's life cycle had these features). It truly was ahead of it's time. The COMBO BREAKERS are really satisfying to land in matches as well. Players are greeted to a great cast of well designed characters with some having play styles like Hisako being more parry oriented counter hits or Mira being more high risk trading her health pool for more damage and combo extensions. One thing that I really admire about Killer Instinct is that when it comes to the character designs, this game doesn't hesitate to go crazy, not super overboard, but just enough to sell players the appeal of the character (SIDE RANT: I'M TIRED OF SOME MODERN FIGHTING GAMES CENSORING TOO MUCH OF AN ALREADY SEDUCTIVE CHARACTER IF THAT ALONE IS EMBEDDED INTO THEIR CHARACTER DESIGN SINCE THE VERY BEGINNING, KILLER INSTINCT IS ONE THAT KNOWS HOW TO KEEP THAT APPEAL IN PLACE WITHOUT TAKING AWAY TOO MUCH). In my case Orchid, I was immediately captivated by her apocalyptic survivor and seductive appearance tied with subtle hints of grounded espionage elements. Yes I just descriptively called Orchid a hot character and I'm proud of it. Furthermore, Orchid being a hybrid of rushdown and setplay focus character complements my personal playstyle based on prior experience from other fighting games. The devs did an amazing job and even though this is a dated game, I still constantly return back to this title. However, one area that I find annoying is the grind for exp for both character levels and player exp. There has to be a better option to do this instead of relentless grinding and even with higher exp boosters and an efficient way of grinding exp, this is still an extremely lengthy process. In summary, Killer Instinct is definitely worth trying. I think for new players wanting to indulge in the world of fighting games, this is a good option, there is a free version of the game so feel free to hop online with your friends and explore what this game has to offer. The one caveat that I forgot to mention is that for online, it's better to play with friends then random people. Trust me, I've done both and I found it much more enjoyable with friends. As for fighting game players looking for another title to try, this one will not disappoint. A lot of the roots is similiar to Street Fighter with links. I hope you found this review helpful. Future Sequel Dreams: I REALLY HOPE THAT IN THE FUTURE THIS GAME CAN BE SEEN AGAIN IN THE FORM OF A SEQUEL. THERE IS SO MUCH UNTAPPED POTENTIAL HERE. I ALSO HOPE CHARACTER DESIGNS REMAIN EITHER SIMILAR TO THIS TITLE WITH GRAPHICAL UPDATES BEING THE ONLY IMPROVEMENT OR ALTERED SLIGHTLY THAT COMPLEMENTS THE CHARACTER ITSELF IN A FUTURE TITLE. PLEASE, THERE IS NO NEED TO CENSOR HEAVILY IN ORDER TO APPEAL TO A CERTAIN AUDIENCE IN TERMS OF CHARACTER DESIGN. AS FOR GAMEPLAY, I WANT TO SEE IT BUILD FROM THIS TITLE. I ALSO WANT ALL CHARACTERS TO HAVE ULTIMATES YES, EVEN ORCHID. I KNOW THAT IN PREVIOUS TITLE BEING THE SUPER NINTENDO, HER ULTIMATE IS VERY INAPPROPRIATE IF DONE IN A MODERN TITLE WITH TODAY'S GRAPHICAL TECHNOLOGY, BUT MAYBE IN A FUTURE TITLE, THE DEVS CAN GET A BIT CREATIVE IN DOING SOMETHING SIMILAR ALONG THE LINES OF HOW INJUSTICE 2 STILL MANAGES TO SHOWCASE THE BRUTALITY OF SUB ZERO IN HIS WIN SCREEN WITHOUT SHOWING GORE. ANOTHER SOLUTION WOULD BE TO JUST GIVE ORCHID A NEW ULTIMATE. THE FINAL AREA THAT I WANT TO SEE MORE OF IS THE STORY. SHOW ME HOW THESE CHARACTERS ARE CONNECTED AND WHAT RELATIONSHIP DO THEY HAVE BETWEEN EACH OTHER.

This game would be fun if the fucking controls worked. The dojo mode alone is asinine as hell. by "lesson" 20 I was so frusterated I was ready tom break my computer. I've played and beaten MANY fighter games in my time. Stomped Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Soul Calibur, Tekken, etc; but this game is wack. I've never had such a hard time pulling off moves and combos EVER! I mean down-left or down-right is the most easy, basic, standard thing you can do in a fighting game but in this you have to try live ten times in a row to get it to register once. I tried keyboard and controller. If I can't even get past the tutorials due to trash response times on input then I don't even want to try and play the main game. This title should have stayed on the SNES.
